Background/History. The Junkers Corporation was founded in the late 1970's during Kroando's 'Period of Growth' under Lord Protector Fortinbraz. The 'Period of Growth' was slowed by two things. The first being the weather, the second being the lack of resources in Kroando. Korn A. Junks, a Kroandon businessman, shipwright and entrepreneur, founded the Junkers Corporation with the soul purpose of venturing out into the world, taking as much raw material and surplus supplies as possible, and bringing them back to Kroando.

Initially the company began in a very honest manner, moving from nation to nation with their massive merchant armada, picking up massive amounts of garbage, junk, surplus goods and other various supplies, and bringing them back to Kroando to sell at immense profit (due to product being aquired for no capital). However as time went on, and the company began growing in strength, they moved to more violent practices of aquiring their goods. Desiring a base in the Pacific from which they could operate out of, they 'Junked' the island nation of Gora Tora, a small nation of some 2 Million Peoples. Those 2 Million were for the most part killed in the violent take over [the very existance of the island was ill-known to the outside world, the Gora Tora massacre is thought of as a myth in most the world]. Over 300,000 were sold as slaves on foriegn markets, with roughly 40,000 remaining as slaves of the Junkers Corp. The island was scrapped of all materials, from cars, to concrete slabs, to copper wire and palm leaves. However the island remains covered in jungle, as Gora Tora was transformed into the Junkers base of operations.

How to do business with the Junkers Corporation. Write the corporation with details of whatever materials you wish to dispose of, including several factors. Please include the name of the items being disposed of, their estimated total weight, any chemical, radioactive or biological defects, and their present location. If said nation wishes to dispose of radioactive waste, it should pay the Corporation 20.0 Million per ton of radioactive waste. The same goes for toxic chemicals and biological contaminants. Other 'garbage' or materials will be taken free of charge.

[Additionally, if you are interested in a pirating RP, or want another nation raided, contact the corporation via this thread.]

Dear Sir/Madam,

We at Barronian Anbaric Works have long been trying to remove waste from our shores in a convenient manner, and long unfortunately have been unsuccessful. Whilst Low-Carbon-in-Ash (LCA) can be sold on to the Aggregates industry, High-Carbon-in-Ash (HCA) has little-to-no value on the current market.

HCA has some use as an additive for concrete, as it is a finely (usually around 75 micron particle size) powdered material, however, the market is flooded with aggregates of varying use, and HCA is unable to get any foothold for the cost it requires to produce and refine.

As a result, we would like you to take care of the HCA on our behalf. We currently have several hundred million tonnes in ash lakes around Barronia, all of which require disposal.

We also have approximately 3 tonnes of radioactive waste from our Nuclear plants, which we would also be grateful to have removed.

Yours,

Loretta J. Gordon

The Alfegos government would wonder if your company is interested in removing 28.4 million tonnes of indutrial waste (mainly slag from mines) from the Milkavich deadlands, a desolate area, heavy with oil wells and deep mines.

We were considering you took over 20 million tons of household waste from the Polinas Deadlands, but have decided there is no point in removing it, due to radioactive contamination by the massive uranium deposit it sits on, and due to the danger to life a venture into the deadlands poses: death usually comes within 6 hours from acute radiation syndrome, and cancer is a sure probability within 45 minutes.

Therefore, we only wish for the contract in Milkavich.

OOC: Uranium isn't deadly radioactive unless refined. U-235 and U-233 are really radioactive when bombarded by slow neutrons and naturally more then U-238 [704mil year half life compared to 4.47 bil for U-238]. U-238 is what's used in DU penetrators and armor.

Junkers Corporate Transmission to Alfegos Government Contact

We would be happy to remove the 28.4 Million tonnes of slag from your nation at a minimal price of 28 Million USD's. For this sum we will cover shipping, labor and extraction costs. Ships are enroute to Milkavich, and shall begin working once the check clears.

Additionally we would be willing to extract to household waste, as we do not believe that unprocessed Uranium poses no threat of radioactive contamination. We shall remove the 20million tonnes of waste for an additional 10 Million USD's.

Junkers Corporate Transmission to Barronian Anbaric Works

We are sure that our employers will find some use for the ash, we shall immidiately begin deploying resources to harvesting and removing the ash from your lands. We would like to inquire as to your national minimum wage, depending upon this issue we may bring our labor with us or hire out the work to locals. On the issue of radioactive waste, due to certain precautions that must be taken in the disposal, we must charge a fee of 20 Million USD's per tonne, three tonnes coming to a total of 60 Million USD's.

Dear Korn A. Junks, CEO/Founder of Junkers Inc.

Thank you, for agreeing to meet me, I propose a meeting 11:00Am on the third of October this year, should that be acceptible I'm sure we can find a suitable arrangement. (OOC: If there is an IC Clash whenever is fine with Trevor)

On the day that the two CEO's would finally meet Trevor flew into the city of Junx, Trevor could help but laugh at the appropriateness of the name. His flight an international one, took him too whatever equalled for Kroandian customs he had no idea about the weather and so came prepared for every eventuality.

With him he had documents, stating that he was the CEO of The Garbage Men, however he didn't have a passport. He was the top person in TGM and didn't see the need for a passport. Even though the Department of Internal Affairs did issue them to citizens.

Tora Gora International Airport - Junx City

Tora Gora was a bit of a political anomaly. It was conquered by the Junkers Corporation in the late 80's, the Junkers Coporation being a Kroandon Enterprise, based out of and protected by the Port City of Scolar. It paid taxes to Kroando, and it obeyed Kroandon laws... while in Kroando. The interesting thing was that Kroando never annexed the island of Tora Gora (most likely due to bribery and corruption), and left it as territory of the company. Now it had been mildly developed. A few cities which resembled a mixture between a 17th century pirate port, an industrial quarter and a military base. The entire city island was made up of either Junkers Employees, Mercenaries, Foriegn Businessmen, or Slaves.

As the CEO's plane touched down on the rather 3rd-World looking airport runway, he could see from his window various black jeeps speeding to and from, with several armed men riding in the backs. Once the plane had stopped, explosions and gunfire could be heard in the background. Local slave rebellion. Something quite common on Tora Gora... they usually only lasted a few days or so... but there were at least three our four a month, enough to prove an annoyance.

As Mr. Desorte stepped off the plane, the three jeeps pulled up around the entrance, over a dozen armed men hopping out of the back. The large men in various camo, fatigues and bullet proof vests were clearly mercenaries of some sort, but seemed intent upon keeping their mark safe. An black Mercedez, seemingly out of place in the jungle environment, came to a halt between the various wranglers. The doors opened and a young lady stepped out, dressed in business atire, as did two black suited body guards, distinctly different than the mercenaries standing about. "Hello sir, I am Cynthia Dison, Vice President of Transportation in the Coporation... I am here to escort you to the meeting."

Trevor smiled "Nice to meet you. Let's get going."

From his first impressions of this place he could certainly see some striking simularities to his own but also a number of differences, the public front of The Garbage Men were very important to him and the company "Your friendly sanitation providers".

It was obvious that the men where personal bodyguards, and he had thought about whether or not he should of brought his oown security personnel, but he thought against it. He wanted to at least portray the image that he trusted the people from Junkers and anyway, preperations had been made should the unthinkable happen.

Tora Gora - Junx City

The convoy drove through some rather... interesting neighborhoods on their way to the Junkers HQ. The first being the exit from the airport, which was seemingly under attack as various militia-looking people fired off AK-47's and hunting rifles at various pill boxes and towers surrounding the facility, manned by more of the mercenary type guards from the jeeps. As they left the airport, a short trip through the jungle displayed more guerilla fighting, filled with explosions and pot shots. Finally they entered the city itself, which seemed to pop right out of the jungle, a ghetto at first, which turned into a luxurious downtown once a walled off checkpoint was reached. The Mercedez continued deep into the city, untill coming to a massive sky scraper with the word Junkers Inc. at the top. The building was surrounded by various fountains, lush gardens and above all, scores of security personell. Mr. Desorte was taken to the top floor, and through the beautiful building, untill finally Mr. Junk's office was reached. He shown in and left to the meeting. "Ah... Mr. Desorte. Welcome... I trust our little problem has not caused you too much distress... my foriegn security forces have not arrived yet." The CEO was given a seat, his choice of beverage and a pair of fine cigars before the meeting was to begin. "Now... what is it you wished to meet with me about?"

The views certainly interested Trevor, he was gaining an insight into the workings of this operation, which would certainly have implications, especially considering his proposal.

"No, no, not much trouble at all."

Trevor gladly accepted the Cigar and was given a small glass with some scotch in it, taking a nice puff of the Cigar and a sip of the scotch before replying.

"Getting right to the point, Good. Basically... We want to buy you out."

After which he once again puffed and examined his fellow CEO's reaction, this was why he wanted to come in person, talking face to face you get to absorb alot more, it's more personal and easier to read the other person.

Unlike most CEO's and Leaders of the sort, Korn was not the typical arrogant elitist one would expect. Where as most would simply throw down a 'NO' and demand the man leave, Korn was a business man, and so a proposal would be heard out. "Do you have a number?"
The Garbage Men
27-09-2007, 02:04
"The number we've come up with is around 450 Billion, 200 Billion for Naval and other security assets, and another 250 for the core business and general assets including the Island."

Trevor indeed was suprised, but managed to keep a hold of it for the most part, he had expected at least an initial negative reaction to it but never mind, the only question now was what his response would be.

(OOC: The 200 Billion would come from our defense and 250 from our administration budget. See here (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=The_Garbage_Men) for details)

Korn sat silently for a moment, not sure how to put the coming response. "Mr. Desorte...", the Kroandon began, sitting up in his chair, straightening his tie before he began. "I am not sure how read you are on the Kroandon situation, but allow me to give you a brief background... Kroando is a large island far, far to the south of here... so far south indeed that it is surrounded by hundreds of kilometers of glacial ice. The country itself is frozen over, where temperatures rarely exceed negative twenty degrees. Now needless to say, it is difficult to extract the few resources present... and with such a massive population, this is a problem. The Junkers Corporation does not simply take peoples trash and dispose of it... we take it, and sell it the the Kroandon government. We are paid twice for the same work you do... now needless to say if we did sell out to you, this would put the Coalitionist Government in power at your mercy... a situation I highly doubt they will allow to come about. Should I sell to you, they will likely have me killed and replaced within a week." Korn paused, "Now this was assuming we were interested in the offer... 450 billion is roughly double our annual profits... thus the money we would make from the sale would be just as easily made in two years. This does not even consider our assets... Selling sir is simply... not a profitable option."

Trevor sat back and paused for a moment, thinking and continueing to puff on his cigar,

"I see, well, thank you for taking the time to see me. Would it be too presumptious to ask for a tour before heading back?"

Trevor stood up before commenting... "The cigar and the scotch were excellent."

"Of course not...", Korn pressed a button on a control panel built into his desk and spoke, "Ms. Hornsby, would you tell Cynthia to come to my office... thank you.", pressing another button he refilled his glass with brandy and took a sip. "Some areas of the city are currently restricted due to the... insurrection, but I believe we should be able to entertain you." A moment later Cynthia Dison enterd the room, "You wished to see me sir?", she spoke, her polite, yet serious voice bringing another dimension to the conversation. "Yes... if it would not be too much trouble, would you mind taking Mr. Desorte on a brief tour of the island?", Korn asked... giving orders more than he was requesting a favor. "Of course sir... right this way..."

Junx City

As the limosene departed from the Junkers HQ, it moved by all other manner of buildings and skyscrapers, each with the name of some foriegn coporation sprawled across it. "Now due to the political uniqueness of Tora Gora, there are no taxes on the island itself... nor labor laws... nor any laws for that matter. Foriegn companies have seen it wise to set up camp here, to avoid domestic pressure. Loop holes sir... I am sure you understand what I am talking about.", Ms. Dison pointed out various big names in various industries. "But I suspect it was not shiny sky scrapers you wanted to see... where would you like to go sir?"

"Slaves Mr. Desorte...", Ms. Dison corrected the CEO, continuing to look out of the window at the passing scenery. "This isn't a judicial tribunal... there is no need for political correctness here." After several minutes, and several changes of surroundings, the limosene, followed and lead by several jeeps, slowed to a halt in front of a series of massive warehouses and factories, from which black smoke billowed out of the top, and a horendous odor covered the area. These buildings were located next to large boat slots, where massive cargo ships and tankers were docked, unloading tonnes, literally thousands of tons of garbage. From their elevated view, they could all see thousands upon thousands of workers hauling bundles of garbage into the buildings.

As they continued down the concrete stairwell, into the first of the many buildings, a massive workshop was discovered, with hundreds of bare chested workers dumping garbage into machines... the machines promptly budling them up into tightly packed cubes. Down the rotating assembly line belt, workers were seen painting these bundles in tar, and being sent into more machinery, where they were packed with more densely combined, shredded garbage. By the end of the assembly line, these massive squares of condensed garbage, or 'Burn Blocks', were taken and loaded into sea crates. These sea crates would then be loaded onto ships and taken to Kroando, where they would sell for five dollars a unit. These burn blocks were used for many things, such as personal home heating, fueling furnaces, powering power plants, or use in side walk barrels. Either way, this formerly useless garbage was to fetch a nice price. Armed guards everywhere, it was clear uprising was a concern. "This is one of our primary processing facilities... would you like to visit one of the mines?"

A wry smile crossed Trevor's face and soon disappated, it wasn't so much about political correctness or even public relations. It was about corporate double speak and dehumanising effect, Human Resources.

It was apart of the way he spoke, even using the word slavery indicated humanity through it's emotive undertones. He was a CEO, emotions meant nothing when it came business decisions and so that was just the way he spoke.

While certainly noticing the smell, it wasn't something that seemed to disturb Trevor, following meekly with the security personnel, he watched from his vantage point and waited a few moments before responding... "Yes, oh, and if possible I'd like to see how you handle the logistics of getting the raw materials to the professing plant and the distribution of the end product too."
