This is going to be a light-hearted and comic take on the world of espionage, similar to Get Smart. Sign-up if this interests you and we can discuss rp possibilities.

Right now, I'm thinking of the rp taking place in the mid-60's. At this point, the Cold War is is full swing and the US and USSR are at the edge of nuclear war, all the while meddling around the world, influencing other governments. The Red Scare has Americans petrified at the idea of Communist domination and believe that the forces of democracy and capitalism must stand fast against this red tide. As the Cold War heats up, each side engages in an extraordinary lethal game of yatzi with thier intelligence agencies, secretly battling for control. After the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Bay of Pigs Invasion, and numerous other incidents, such as the Premier slipping on a banana peel in the White House, things are slowly but steadily cooling down, with the exception of the war in Vietnam. Sadly, this is not to last and it flares up once again as mysterious incidents occur, leading each side to blame the other. The theft of US nuclear secrets, the destruction of Soviet...stuff. A new cunning and powerful foe is threatening the world, using every weapon in thier arsenal including chinese food to bring the world to its' knees. Who are these people? Will they succeed? Or will the great nations of the world finally band together?

I just want to know if all of you would prefer this rp to take place in the 1960's or an alternate present day. Opinions?

@Anagor: FEAR is an organization of people bent on controlling the world. It's meaning is classified. FEAR is the organization behind rising tensions in the world, a diabolical group of nasty, villany, and all around not nice people.

During the course of the rp, the intelligence services finally discover who is truly behind these incidents and are forced to work together, despite long standing tensions and mistrust. Should make things interesting.

@Anagor: At the start there will be seperate agencies going about their secretive business; however, in light of these incidents and the discovery of a secret global organization behind them, the seperate agencies will be forced to come together or share information to stop FEAR from spreading across the globe. It will set up for future rps (hopefully).

Please have it in 60s, makes it more fun (there are a lot more fun stereotypes and historical details in 60s than let´s say 2010 :p ). And the classical capitalism versus communism situation :)

Organization: Former "1930's private eye/ gumshoe/ film noir sort who's gettin' back in the game 'one last time' to beat, what he calls, "them lousy Reds." Keeps an office in New York City, but the bad part of town. In a word, a maverick- and an old one.
Height: Shrinkin' every day.
Hair: Who knows? Wears a fedora.
Eyes: Near-sighted, sure, but still a damned good shot.
History: Born on a farm upstate, caught a train at age 8 and ran away to the city, became a newsie selling 'a hundred papes a day,' mixed up in prohibition racket, disappears for a few years and then starts as a private detective sometime before the war.
Tastes: Leggy dames, cigarettes, and a soft trumpet-led ensemble.
Dislikes: Russians, and a good cup of coffee gone cold.

Character point: Dick is an old school gumshoe in the era of Sputnik, fighting for an America that died when young fellas' starting wearing their hair like dames and listening to rock and roll and began doing weird narcotics. And I'm not talking about a late night at the Black Gardenia with a little pill box full of sniff and a flask of bourbon. I'm talking about those weird ones- ones like what the kids call "the crazy cactus." Dick just doesn't understand how everything got turned so damned upside-down.

Yes you can join, but he can't be a FEAR operative. The FEAR organization in this rp is nothing like the FEAR from that game.

This organization is like KAOS from Get Smart or SPECTRE from James Bond.
