CLAN RRAWFUR ELECTS NEW LEADER
AFTER SEVERAL years of procrastination, Tyria's third-largest member of the Union, Clan Rrawfur, has finally elected a new Clan Leader to guide them into the future.
Polls came in early this morning and Grand Clan Leader Bonfaaz Burntfur announced the results - with a 68% landslide majority, previously-unknown Vatlaaw Doomtooth has successfully won the hearts and respect of his fellow clanmates, beating off competition such as Jutish Crookedjaw (12%) and Lisod Roundeye (13%) in this epic political battle. The Mayor of Lushgreen, capitol city of Clan Rrawfur, only received 7% of the vote.
Vatlaaw Doomtooth is an unknown quantity in the political world of Tyria. An ex-soldier, his only real claim to fame comes from his participation in the failed international EBG Academy (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=424786) as hosted by the Vuhifellian States, which earned him a short stint in the spotlight for being one of the first Charr to leave Tyria. Analysts believe that it is exactly because of his relative obscurity that his clanmates voted so fervently in his favour - he represents "traditional Charrian values, in a world slowly being engulfed by politics and bureaucracy," according to Klinn Rufflefur at Lion's Arch University. Interviews with his family, friends and fellow military officers have consistently stated that he is an honourable and strong-willed Charr.
Clan Rrawfur has been without leadership for several years now, in the wake of the sudden death of Reekfar Torus (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=455879), whose enormous personality has proven difficult to replace. Without proper leadership, Clan Rrawfur has been governed by the Council of Clans - or more specifically, Burntfur himself - until their people could select an appropriate predecessor. This is not the first election to occur since Torus' death; last year, a failed election was abruptly cancelled after one of the candidates was accused of cheating, and was killed in an honour challenge as a result by Doomtooth himself (an event which has been cited as one of his campaign's turning points).
Doomtooth will be inaugurated tomorrow afternoon in a ceremony conducted by Bonfaaz Burntfur. He commences his political career in a strong position - Clan Rrawfur has traditionally commanded great respect amongst all of the clans, and although its strength and reputation has diminished somewhat during the absence of leadership, it is still officially the third-strongest clan in Tyria. With the overwhelming support of his clanmates, a re-election seems unlikely in the near future, and already he has made some of his policies clear.
"Strength and honour are key tenets of life that are being forgotten by a select minority," Doomtooth said in his acceptance speech. "I intend to restore these principles in the lives of my clanmates! No more shall political wrangling distract Clan Rrawfur from its true goals - to make its people strong, prosperous and proud!"
The Doomtooth Pack, who campaigned alongside Vatlaaw, state that he intends to enact some localised reforms in the education and justice systems in particular, with the aim of instilling a greater understanding of honour and the Gods of Fire in younger pups, and ensuring that those who defy the Sacred Scrolls of Law are punished more severely. It has also been officially confirmed that Vatlaaw Doomtooth is pro-Gholgoth, and will maintain Rrawfur's support of the alliance.
