Background-
After experience problems with M109 Paladin such slow rate of fire and its heavy weight The Angaorian Military Contacted Angaorian Military Industries Heavy Vehicles Division to design them a new lightweight but durable Artillery System. That could keep up with Angaorian Main battle tanks and supply efficient rate of fire. The System they came up with the warrior artillery system. The Warrior Artillery System provides unprecedented responsiveness and lethality to the Unit of Action (UA) commander. The Warrior Artillery System provides networked, extended-range targeting, and precision attack of point and area targets in support of the Unit of Action (UA) with a suite of munitions that include special purpose capabilities. The Warrior Artillery System provides sustained fires for close support and destructive fires for tactical standoff engagement. While air power, precision-guided bombs and missiles often receive all the glamour on the modern battlefield, cannon artillery still plays a critical role in today’s fight by serving as the only 24-hour, all-weather reinforcement for the infantry soldier – a fact proven in recent conflicts. Combat experience and extensive analyses have shown that the greatest threat to ground force survivability is indirect fire artillery. The Angaor. Army currently ranks behind several other countries in cannon artillery capabilities, and Angaor. Army after-action studies from Certain Operations around the world have exposed that the Angaor Army has a critical need for an advanced cannon artillery solution. The system’s primary purpose is to provide responsive fires in support of the Combined Arms Battalions (CABs), and their subordinate units in concert with line-of-sight, Beyond-Line-of-Sight (BLOS), Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS), external and Joint capabilities. The system provides flexible support through its ability to change effects round-by-round and mission-by-mission. These capabilities, combined with rapid response to calls for fire and rate of fire, provide a variety of effects on demand. This system incorporates technologies that include CARGO rounds and smart sub munitions, and Fire and Forget Seeker technology. Also included is a Self Protection Weapon. The Warrior Artillery Sytem cannon was designed to move rapidly, stop quickly and deliver lethal fire in near-record time. The aluminum-armored vehicle has a diesel engine that provides power to a hybrid-electric drive that propels two extremely quiet 18-inch band tracks. With a two-man crew, the NLOS cannon features an automatic ammunition-handling system and is being designed to easily fit inside the cargo bay of a C-130 aircraft. The Warrior Artillery System will be more fuel efficient than existing self-propelled artillery systems, according to officials who estimate perhaps as much as 30 percent more. The Warrior also has silent mode which it Can run up to 10 miles at 20 mph in silence
Round by round fire capacity-
The system as proposed looks to add capabilities that the current M-109 systems do not offer. One of the proposed systems advantages is the ability to switch shell types quickly on a one by one basis allowing an illumination round to be followed by a point detonation round, to be followed by an area effect round. This would give the system the ability to fire different rounds as required by different fire calls or to change types of shells. For instance, destroying a building then engaging anyone fleeing the area with the next round.
Rate of fire-
The rate of fire in the proposed system would enable more rounds sent downrange in a given amount of time allowing more fire power per system than is available with the current M-109 system, another capacity offered by the increased RPS and advanced gun computers would be one of multiple rounds impacting the same target sight at the same time allowing a target little or no reaction time to incoming rounds (Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact). This is accomplished by including the autoloader from the canceled Crusader project which achives the goals of a much improved fire rate with a reduction in manning the vehicle.
Networked combat system-
The proposed system is envisioned as part of a fast mobile force networked via improved communications and data capabilities to allow rapid response with enhanced accuracy with the view to reducing "blue on blue" incidents along with lessened collateral damage, while providing superior protective artillery fires to units requiring gunfire support. Navigation of the vehicle and targeting information are provided via GPS and networked information systems. Which allows the commander to link all artillery warrior system in his/her battalion. Fire Simultaneous and hit target multiple times. Also it allows each unit To what one individual Warrior system is located if its moving or stationary if moving Speed. What type of ammunition its carrying and what battalion or unit belongs too. Also units can send text messaging and voice messages and access the internet.
155mm ETC Gun-
ETC uses pulse power electrical energy to augment and control the release of chemical energy from conventional and advanced propellants. This electrothermal-chemical system uses a plasma generator instead of a primer, with the ignition, and potentially combustion control, of solid propellant achieved by high temperature plasmas. The gun is fully Automated and the gunner can switch between different rounds easily.
Thor Active Protection System
The Thor APS comprises systems that sense incoming threats and employ countermeasures to physically intercept and defeat them. APS is a hit-avoidance system providing defense against threat munitions by intercepting the threat munitions prior to them making physical contact with the platform. , an Thor APS can improve survivability by defeating incoming anti-tank guided missiles, RPGs, tank-fired high-explosive antitank missiles, tank-fired kinetic energy rounds, indirect fire — including bomblets and mortars — and guided top-attack threats. APS does not totally supplant armor. Vehicle armor must still provide protection against threats that cannot be addressed by the APS. These threats include small arms, mines and explosive fragments, including the residual shrapnel effects resulting from an active protection engagement.A generic APS comprises a sensor subsystem, a countermeasure subsystem and data processing. A typical sensor subsystem includes a threat warner, or cueing sensor, and a tracking sensor. The threat warner identifies a threat and then, through data processing, hands it over to the tracking sensor. The tracking sensor then determines the incoming threat’s size, shape and vector. Data processing uses this tracking data to determine the appropriate countermeasure, calculate the firing solution and deploy the countermeasure. The countermeasure physically intercepts the incoming threat and typically consists of an interceptor launcher and interceptor munition. Also Infantry can opreated in close proximity to the system since it does not produce any fragmetation and gives a warning when its about to fire.
Supply Vehicle
Warrior Crusader can be resupplied by the next-generation M200 ammunition resupply vehicle (RSV). The RSV allows its crew to automatically transfer, under armor, up to 48 rounds of ammunition and fuel to the howitzer or resupply module (RSM) in just 10.4 minutes. Like the howitzer, 24 -ton self-propelled vehicle comprised of the primary mission compartments -- a digital three-man cockpit, a rollout powerpack and a weapons compartment. This fully automated, highly maneuverable vehicle makes reloading and refueling exponentially faster and more survivable than today's battlefield procedures and allows the howitzer to maintain a relentless, high rate of fire. The RSV carries 100 rounds (enough to resupply two howitzers) and, like the howitzer, moves at cross-country speeds of 39 kilometers per hour, highway speeds of 69 kilometers per hour and dash speeds of 750 meters in 90 seconds. The vehicle's fully automated ammunition handling system pulls soldiers out of harm's way and allows them to rearm and refuel howitzers and other resupply vehicles without ever leaving the heavily armored and NBC-protected crew cockpit. The resupply vehicle (RSV) will completely rearm a howitzer -- with both crews fully under armor and NBC protection -- in 12 minutes or less. This rapid resupply process allows the howitzer to remain armed, fueled, and constantly engaged in battle. The versatile resupply module (RSM) has the ability to resupply both the howitzer and the RSV, increasing the efficiency of the resupply process. Unlike current artillery systems, Crusader never lets the enemy rest. This relentless firing capability is essential to maintain high optempos on future battlefields.
In the field, the crew remains inside the heavily armored, NBC-protected crew compartment during the entire resupply mission. Long before the vehicle reaches the battlefield, digital displays tell the crew exactly which weapons and how much fuel each howitzer needs.
