Federation of Caelapes - Bureau of Cartography

To all interested nations,

The Caelapene Bureau of Cartography is now offering national- or provincial-level political maps to any interested party. These maps are ideal for governmental or civilian use, are watermarked with the Caelapene seal, and provide a clean, professional looking platform for your national image. In accordance with Caelapene law, the Bureau of Cartography is specifically forbidden to create maps of foreign nations without a request on record from that nation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs or equivalent office or department, and may not create maps of military importance or depicting military actions of any kind.

If you are interested in procuring a high-quality Caelapene political map for your nation, please address all requests to the Caelapene Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will forward approved requests to the Bureau of Cartography. The following information is required before the Bureau can begin work on your nation's map:

Name of nation
Scale of nation (in km or mi)
List of cities and their location
Geography of nation
Location of any particular geographic formation (bays, mountain ranges, etc.)
Shape of nation (rough draft, pre-existing map, etc. -- please include level of detail present if giving a pre-existing map)
Other important physical features of your nation

All requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. If your request is approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, your Ministry of Foreign Affairs or equivalent office or department will be contacted notifying you as such. You will then be charged based on which of the following you need for your maps:

Low resolution, 1-2,500 copies -- $25,000 for preparation, $0.38/ea for each individual map
Low resolution, 2,501-10,000 copies -- $35,000 for preparation, $0.23/ea for each individual map
Low resolution, 10,001-75,000 copies -- $50,000 for preparation, $0.14/ea for each individual map
Low resolution, 75,001+ copies -- $60,000 for preparation, $0.09/ea for each individual map
High resolution, 1-2,500 copies -- $50,000 for preparation, $0.88/ea for each individual map

OOC: Dude, that map is awesome.

OOC EDIT: First request up.

Name: Barronian Overseas Territory of Gresta Barronii
Scale of Nation: 150,000 square miles
Cities: See map
Geography: Deciduous forest for the most part, sandy beaches on the coastline. Large rise in the middle of the island.
Locations of any particular geographic formation: See map.
Shape of nation: See map
Other important physical features: None.

OOC: I'd like lots of rivers and canals running across, building up near the cities - we have a fascination for all things waterborne. Black lines are roads.

Official Londinian Communiqué

Open Declaration:

The Londinian Commonwealth would like the Cælapian Bureau of Cartography to update and improve upon our already existing map (http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z259/pertinax201/Maps/blmapversion5.jpg), which is wholly accurate, though lacking in physical features. We would like the most detailed, high-resolution map available; upon completion of the map, the appropriate funds will be wired.

OOC: I don't know the scale of my map, but the island(s) are the size of Europe. I'd like a mountain just north of Kensington (Mt Nyx), and a river flowing south from that mountain through Kensington and into the bay. There should be a small mountain chain extending from Northolt to St Andrews, and another chain extending from Pontremali to Fenegro. Beyond that, I'm not too particular regarding the physical features. I'd like plenty of rivers, though, especially next to the bolded cities. Also, would it be possible to retain all the cities on my previous map?

OOC: My mistake. I'd like the mountain to be located where the peninsula and mainland meet. The northern mountain chain should be the "Montaigne Mountains" and the southern the "Sabæan Mountains". The rivers needn't be named.

To the Cookeslandic Department of State:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved the map for your nation. However, we require a message on file from any foreign state department before we are able to map their nation. If the Sunrise Isles would like their territories mapped by the Bureau of Cartography, we encourage them to address a message to us, but until they do, our hands are tied by Caelapene laws.

From: Department of Foreign Affairs, DMG

We would like to thank you for opening your cartography skills and services to the world. That specific area of expertise seems to be lacking in this government, and outside help is quite unusual. We hope that our application is in the right order and that you will accept our request.

Map 1 (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/DMG-1.jpg)
Map 2 (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b360/DMG2005/DMGMap.jpg)

Name: The Dominion of DMG
Scale: Miles (though listings are often done in both)
Cities: Viscount-ania (Capital and only city - it essentially takes up the whole island ten miles from the shoreline and in)
Geography: (It's kind of PMT so the island is actually a 500-meter plateau with the city built inside of it. On the surface, however, it is snowy and frigid - antarctic like)
Notes: Though the second map appears to have different layers, it is really all the same height. Also, those green spots are wrong, but the rivers exist - they are just frozen ice rivers.

The Fedorian Foreign Office

To: The Bureau of Cartography, Caelapes
From: The Fedorian Foreign Office

We are delighted to discover a nation that is exceptionally skilled in cartography and is willing to serve the world for those needs. Since the bombing of the Arts Office back during the 4th Fedorian Civil War, our staff that deals with cartography is lacking in manpower and skill. Therefore, good sir or madam, I wish to submit our appilication and I pray that it shall be accepted.

Name: The Confederacy of Fedorian
Scale: Miles
Cities: Capital and Major Cities listed on map. Square is Capital and the rest are Major cities
Geography: Mostly forested in all areas, with high mountains (The Kezelreich Mt. range) in the north stretching from the Northern stretch of the Yukan River to the North of Islenton. Very snowy in the North, while tropical around Viningrad and the Bostock River.
Location of land/sea formations: The Sam Perry Bay in the Southern end of rough map; The Barque Peninsula (where Wesselbein and the Blue Louin River are), The Nassoldorff Peninsula (where Viningrad and the Bostock River are); The Black Wilderness (Between Heinsville and Imak; stretching about 200 miles to the west); The Kezelreich Mountains (see Geography for location)
Shape of nation: Here (http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y206/Slaughts/Funny%20Pics/?action=view&current=Fedorian-1.jpg)

We are pleased to report that your map has been completed. Your map is of the highest quality, measuring 70cm by 105cm. The seal featured on the full map is not as large, relative to the map itself. All cities and points of interest detailed on your previous map have been retained and further detail has been brought out following scans by Caelapene satellites (rest assured -- these satellites merely collect topographical data, not any data of particular sensitivity) to be of the utmost quality. Official Oickoidian Communiqué

To the Bureau of Cartography:

As a newly independent nation, the Dominion of Oickoidia now feels it necessary to update national maps from the existing, low-resolution maps currently in circulation. (http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z259/pertinax201/mediterranicamap15ao7.pngg) Our capital, Uygur, is located at the mouth of Bataar Cove [next to the B]. Other major cities include Zaqaziq, Vyatka, Xuzhou, Qaraghandy, Bæyer, Jabalpur, and Vug; while scattered throughout the country, most are around the seven major rivers of Oickoidia: Dharwar, Radcliff, Thrax, Wellington, Adeodatus, Yakovlev, and Oisin. There are several large mountains in Oickoidia, mostly in the Carracci Mountains along the western coast of the mainland, though Mt D'Oyly and Mt Swanner are in close proximity to Uygur and Vyatka.

Also, we would like the Londinian military bases housed in Oickoidia represented on the map: HMNB Ulan (near Uygur), RAF Okavango (near the Carracci Mountains), RAF Dakar (near Vyatka), and RAF N'Djamena (on one of the outlying islands).

Upon satisfactory completion of the map, all required money will be wired to your account.

Sincerely,

Khan of the Dominion of Oickoidia

OOC: The brown areas directly next to the yellow territory 9of Oickoidia) ought to be yellow, as should the islands right next to yellow land. The brown island farther way needn't be included.

We must remind the Tynlandic Office of Foreign Affairs that our other customers were more prompt in providing the Bureau of Cartography with the parameters of their nation without requiring the Federation to spend millions of marks to go through the red tape required to recalibrate its topographic satellites (not to mention the millions of marks required to actually recalibrate them) to perform expensive and, in most cases, unnecessary sweeps to obtain the needed topographic data from which to make a map. I want my nation to be like Ancient Greece, connected to a mainland (you dont have to draw all that, just cut it off), and with naval chokepoints. It would make a naval enterance into the bay very difficult
Other important physical features of your nation: none

As you can see, I am very much like Ancient Greece (and turkey if you want to throw in troy). Thanks in advance. High resolution please, and a png format.
