A Not So Basic Battle (in the end) -CLOSED Practice

Alfegos

The Alfegos landing fleet sailed in the dusk onwards towards the place of battle. All were ready, and the airforce were minutes away.

Now all they needed to do was to meet up with their allies.

Gernish's forces gathered their ranks for their parting speech.

FM Preator Hernandez spoke:

"Today, we send you out to a foreign shore to defend that which is the sacred name of Gernish... some of you may never return and give all in order to gain all..."

The troops looked at each other, fearing that this wargame had somehow morphed into a real war. Death was actually a possibility?

"No, nobody is going to die. But keep in mind that you COULD in a real war. This is a test. A showing of you skills. A proof of you survivability. Go out for and fight life. Fight for Gernish. And fight for Capitalism!"

With that sentence, and a quick flyover of a few F-35's, the troops mounted their transports and set off for battle.

OOC: Uir guns have real bullets, Uir bombs really explode. We don't play 'War Games'.

NAVAL FORCES:

80 Jeanne d'Arcs (Aircrafte Carrier/Cruiser)
200 Francis Garnier (Amphibious Assault)
200 Duguay-Trouin (Frigate/Patrol)
151 Perle (Submarine)

IC:

Riopo had been loosing its free market to socialism for monthes now. Ever since their damned Worker's Party had come into power. It was time to invade and restore a Capitalistic Dictator who would then get Riopo to join CAPITALIST.

There was some talk about it being just a war game but the Uir forces didn't play around. 20 Francis Garniers would unload 1,000 men and 20 tanks. This would be the first wave, accompanied by 8 Jeanne d'Arc and 20 Duguay-Trouins. They would set out just before sunset and hopefully would arrive at around dusk.

The Major spoke to the group of men before they were sent into the Garniers, "Remeber men, other countries may fire BB pellets at you. Do not question why. They may think this is a war game. If you shoot, aim to kill so that troops don't find out what is going on at first. Now go out there and fight to the death."

Then the infantry and tanks moved into the Francis Garniers and readied themselves to invade. The ships didn't have far to go, Uiri was separated by Riopo only by Caring State, a communist state from the beginning.

Praetor Hernandez was watching his ships cross the sea to Riopo when the message came across the BattleFax.

He had to break out the old code books to decipher what this actually meant, as even a great commander such as himself had forgotten this type of coding.

*Top priority message
**Message from Uiri to allies
***Stop the war games immediately
****Live fire

What the Hell were they doing... bringing in live fire rounds to what the rest of the nations presumed to be a wargame? He didn't like the sounds of it, but thought perhaps a miscommunication had been typed.

He sent an urgent reply to Uiri asking to confirm their use of live fire against the Riopo and allies awating this 'game'.

Immediately after, he gave the order for live ammo to be passed out to all the men and vehicles in Gernish's gathering assault forces.

OOC: That's Godmoding, but I don't mind. It makes it more interesting.

Franics Garnier 1

The message had been sent in order to launch an acual invasion. The cover of a 'war game' was perfect. No grown Uirè fooled around with a 'war' game especcially professionally trained troops. A reply had been recieved shortly, from Gernish:

*Top priority message
**Message from Gernish to Uiri
***Mistyped?
****Real Invasion?

Uiri only confirmed the message. Riopo had to be turned capitalistic.

Northern Riopon Coast

The troops left the Garniers and got onto the beach. A few hundred metres away the Alfegon troops landed. The Uir headed towards they're allies in order to collaborate where to go and such. This was going to be the real deal.

OOC: Sorry about the 'godmoding'. I didn't know whether i was supposed to know that or not because it wasn't SIC, so I just decided to spice it up a little bit and get involved.

SIC: The reply from Uiri came in just a few seconds after the confirmation message was sent out to them. So it was a true war that they wanted. And without telling the poor unarmed socialists that they were about to be overwhelmed by the heavily armed capitalists in the guise of actors. How sad. How inhumane. How unfair. How much more perfect could these tactics BE!?!?

The Preator nodded in approval of the message and sent word to his troop commanders in the field. Supply troops with live ammo, but DO NOT load it and for God's sake DON"T FIRE IT unless the proper code is given after the rendezvous of the capitalist allies.

Well THIS should be fun, thought Hernandez as he opened a bottle of scotch.

Uir Air Base

225 EC-Tigers and 220 MiG-27s mobilised. The MiGs were set to bomb the Riopo capitol while the Tigers would launch missiles at any interfering forces. The Tigers were slow due to being a helicopter so they flew off first in order to establish a good positon and defeat any early birds.

The MiG were loading with 4 250 kg General Purpose bombs each. It was going to be messy.

OOC: Bombers haven't taken off yet.

The GADF had a simple strategy in mind for dealing with the Riopo (mostly socialist) threat at hand. Instead of dropping bombs all over the military installments within the country and probably wasting lots of money (and civilian lives... yes they DID care) they would outfit their B2 stealth bombers with EMPs (ElectroMagneticCharges) that, when detinated from a mere 5 miles above the surface could fry all of the electrical equiptment within a 50 mile radius. Two bombs on each major radar installment in the small country, and the approaching Uiri bombers, as well as Capitalist infantry forces, would be tactically invisible to the defenders.

God Bless modern technology and God Bless Capitalism.

Alfegos had it's arsenal at its disposal for attack: before the fleet would reach the country, the 20 Sledgehammer heavy missiles, armed with HE warheads, would make mincemeat of their missile and ar defences.

Behind the blue darts were 120 heavy bombers, each with a payload filled with Volcano Cluster bombs. Even more effective than napalm, yet twice as light.

As they came over the fortified coastline, the bombs fell: 480 in total. They were programmed to cover 40 miles of the coast, up to 2 miles inland, and that they did.

The bombs shattered, each showering 500 small projectiles that fel to ground, before igniting in a phosphurous-oxidiser fireball, setting everything around on fire.

Soon, the coastline was illuminated with fire. Once it was out, the hundreds of heavy landers would crash into the shore.

"Holy Crap!" screamed the Riopon General as he saw Uir planes soaring over the horizon. He turned to Private S. Jones,
"Good thing we got those Anti-Aircraft guns set up, Heh."
He turned to see engineers only 1/2 finished.
"Ummmm, Yeah about that..."
"Who the hell do you think you are?!"
"Well, They...Kinda..."
"WHAT?! Spit it out!"
"Take a look for yourself..."
The General turned to see the mechanics 1/2 finished.
"QUICKLY! FINISH THEM!"
The mechanics rushed to finish it 3 times as fast as before!

5:32 Riopo City

The General was in the air raid bunker, So was every Riopon Citizen.
<RATATATATATATATATA> The SAM Batterys and Anti Aircraft Guns were in action. They shot down quite a lot of Planes and thought they were doing well until...

6:13 Riopo City

Alfegos planes were close to follow...
"Sir, we're outnumbered! What are we to do! They've sent out nearly all their men!"
"ALL Thier men you say? Hmmmm, Send out half of our Fighter jets and bombers out there. Call for all our allies help too. We'll give them a taste of their own medicine..."
"We've got back up on our way sir and we've sent out the Planes. What now?"
"Same as you did last time... Take em' out."

The ground below was flaming as the Alfegos bombers continued on their rendez-vous with the capital. The Volcano varients had broken off, leaving 20 black triangles screeching thorugh the night at over 50 000 ft. From there, they could begin precision bombing: first, the bombs fell on the AA guns. Then, the power stations were targeted, along with all the roads to the city.

Finally, the rest of the bombs, about 20 x 500 kg smart bombs, were left to drop on the residential areas.

4 were shot down, exploding after the pilots ejected, leaving nothing to reverse-engineer.

OOC: They are Helicopters not bombers. I've sent in only a fraction of a fifth of my forces. The bombers didn't launch yet, so you godmoded not just their launch but their shooting down. Besides, Dusk is around sunset, not sunrise.

Also, it is a war game and you guys know that. What you don't know is that the bombs are real, not water ballons. If it happens in Uiri, you don't know about it.

IC:

0:20, Riopo City

The bombers took off and quickly made it to Riopo at Mach 1.5. They flew over the city's less than half finished air defenses. There was nothing to do except hide and hope you don't get hit. The Helicopters flew back with the MiG-27s, paving the way for the Uir Troops.

The Uir troops advanced towards the city, their guns ready. It was suppossed to be a war game but what the Riopons didn't know was that they were using live ammunition.

EDIT: VDB, Riopo didn't call you, therefore you would've not been able to know. If you did know you knew that it was a war game, therefore didn't have real ammo.

Riopo City

Vanek'ian planes zoomed across the sky unexpectedly, launching missiles towards every hostile jet. F/A-22s, F-117s, and F-35s. Back at the VDB, troops were getting ready and ships were prepped. It was war.

Letter To All Nations Facing Riopo:

We are sorry that you had to attack our ally. Now we are forced to attack you. Prepare. Our ambassadors to your countries are leaving. Victory to the VDB!

OOC: Yeah.... here's my views on the situation unfolding;

Riopo would NOT know that real bombs were being dropped on their cities until the first bombs hit the ground. They know that there is an 'assault' coming, but are still under the full belief that the planes are dropping something that is not real ammunition. Thus, their AA batteries would not be fully loaded to shoot down 'enemy' planes that they believed to be unarmed. The response would have been something more to the effect of "oh fun here come the planes that we're gaming with... what's that they're dropping...? BOOM. AA battery down." Yes, after the first battery is blown to pieces, they could get real ammo and begin a counterattack, but this would take time and could not be the instant response that Riopo RP'd. I have no problem with Riopo fighting back, but there would be a lag here to get real ammunition and you must do it without the benefit of radar and other electrical equiptment due to the Gernish EMP attack.

VBD, while acting nobly on account of their socialist allies, would not have fully armed fighter jets already in the air over Riopo, seeing as they were either 1) not there as part of the defensive stragety in the GAME or 2) loaded with unreal ammo because it was indeed a game. There is no way that either VBD or Riopo could have known that an actual war was about to start. The VBD also has the right to mobilize forces against the attack, but again, it's not the instantaneous process that they RP'd here.

Thus, the immediate victory, at least in terms of bombing destruction and tactical wins, lies with the invading countries who attacked, with the element of surprise, a country who had deployed its military into the field without real ammunition or supplies to wage a real war. Just my thoughts.

As the bombers departed the enemy airspace, they heard screeches over the alliance channels

"Fighters, god dammit! VDB fighters!"

On that, they hurried away, while the plan below came into action.

=====

Coming towards the VDB fleet were 5 bloated bombers: the ultra-heavies. They however were perfect for this mission.

20 miles away from the ships, out of range of the AA defences, each launched a single missile.

They turned around, and shot off, the crack of them breaking the sound barrier echoing across the ocean.

However, the 5 EMP missiles took thier time, spreading out into a circular pattern around the fleet, before exploding, the air iridescing with the sudden ionisation.
