The GA-101 Artemis is SaintB Integrated Aeronaughtics first entry into the world of combat aircraft. Artemis is the goddess of the hunt and the moon and a fitting name for a swift manueverable ground attack aircraft.
Capabilities
The GA-101 Artemis was designed to be a premier ground attack fighter, able to cruise at speeds as low as 80 knots to track and launch attacks on enemy troops, armor, and emplacements. It excels at the role of a close air support craft where its speed (up to about Mach 1.7) allows it to close quickly with the enemy, deliver its payload and retreat from the battlefield before intercepter or air superiority craft can be scrambled. The Atemis is also designed to be able to provide forward air control missions, flying low and slow to assist larger aircraft with heavier payloads in attacking ground targets near freindly positions by locating targets and painting the location of enemy forces. When necesary, the GA-101 Artemis is also a capable fighter in the air interdiction role, taking out ground targets ahead of freindly forces to assist them in pushing forward.
Weaponry
The Artemis is capable of carrying up to 20,000 lbs or 9,0072 kgs of ordinance including but not limited too unguided "dumb" bombs, most types of air to surface missiled, guided "smart bombs, cluster bombs, rocket tubes, and AIM class sidewinders, ECM pods, Chaff Deployment pods. The primary weapon of the GA-101 is a 30mm Avenger cannon capable of firing a 3,900 rounds per minute and piercing 68mm of armor at 500 meters. Finally the artemis is equipped with a wing mounted 127 mm (5 inch) rocket rack with 36 rockets on the right wing, situated to face at a downward angle so that the artemis can rake ground targets off its nose with it while flying level at 1,500 feet.
Aviaonics
The Artemis' primarily uses a fly by optics system which is very responsive and allows the aircraft to manuever quickly in combat. The Artemis is also equipped with a secondary mechanical drive system in case of damage.
The GA-101 Artemis currently sees service in SaintB, Calizorinstan, and Ok La Homa
