Vuhifellian Defense Forces

Vuhifellian Army & Marines
Headed by: Commander General Alfred Alfierri

The largest branch of the Federal Defense Forces, the VAM consists of over 9 million professional soldiers, 4 million reserve units, and 3.8 million Provincial Defense Units. While a very modern and technologically advanced part of the military (indeed some of the most impressive hardware is in the VAM's possession), until very recently, the Army lacked disciplined soldiers and able leaders, and most troops were little more than local militia, their leaders varied from the educated and skilled, to the weak and hopeless.

Recent political outcry over the training of soldiers has brought the level of discipline and professionalism up in the military considerable, however, proper training of officers has yet to be extablished. And the Army is very skeptical about letting it's aging, experienced leaders be replaced by young graduates of inept military schools.

The VAM is, without question, the largest portion of the military, however, without comparable funding or training, the Army & Marines is still inferior to all other branches of the Defense Forces. Unless politicians can regulate military education and training, the VAM will face a leadership crisis in the very near future.

Vuhifellian Navy
Headed by: Supreme Admiral Terrence Hood

A massive navy consisting well over 3,600 combat vessels, with over 13,000 support vessels, the Vuhifellian Navy is by far, the most important of the military branches. As Vuhifell is an island continent, and her colonies and overseas provinces can only connect to the mainland through either air or sea, the Navy plays a vital role in the protection of the Federation. The Navy is entrusted with guarding the territorial waters of the Federation and protecting all sea trade routes in and out of the continent.

Main shipyards are at Comberth Naval Shipyards, where most VN ships are built, and where the Naval headquarters are located. While massive, the Navy does have it's shortcomings. It has consistantly resisted modernizing it's submarine fleet, which is also being drastically reduced, and several massive battleships exist in the Navy not for security purposes, but merely for political propaganda and as recruiting material. However, in terms of battlecruiser and command ship designs, the Navy almost makes up for it's incompetance in submarine and battleship affairs. Vuhifellian battlecruisers have some of the most advanced computer systems in the world. And Vuhifellian command ships are extremely efficient at commanding large, usually cumbersome fleets into highly effective naval titans.

While it has a long way to go before this level of efficiency and skill reaches all levels of the Navy, it can be said that so long as Vuhifell has its Navy, no foreign troops will trample her soil.

Vuhifellian Air Force
Headed by: General of the Skies John Keyes

The VAF has played a vital role in defending the Federation in modern history. While the constitution strictly prohibits offensive actions outside the Federation not supportive of free, democratic regimes, the VAF still maintains a very large stealth bomber squadron as well as several stealth cruise missile caches. It is directly responsible for the air defense of the Federation and for providing air support over warzones.

Of the four branches of the military, the VAF has the largest budget, which mainly goes into research of more advanced weaponry, stealth planes, and engine designs. Currently, the VAF is second only to the VN in the number of bases which are reserved strictly for its use.

Currently, the VAF maintains a small bomber force mobilized only when friendly democratic regimes ask for assistance, however, the VAF Fighter Corps is not only large, but contains a myriad of advanced fighters including: the ADF-01 Falkan and the X-02 Wyvern. There are also rumors of the VAF possessing several high-stealth, high payload bombers of such magnitude that they need their own air base. While no civilian records of these "super-bombers" exist, the military continually denies their existance and has deemed all files on the subject to be for "Code Black Secrecy". However, a popular name for this class of super-bombers has emerged as "the Arkbirds".

The VAF directly controls the launch of all Vuhifellian military satellites, and has the sole authority to command Vuhifell's Air Defense System and Ballistic Missile Defense System.

Vuhifellian Information Corps:
Headed by: General Nemu Mamolialis
Motto: To see the Invisible

Formed on November 21, 2097 under President Seryozha Viktrovich Nikanor, the VIC combined the Vuhifellian Intelligence Agency and the VAM - Special Warfare Division into one entity. The VIC is responsible for gathering intelligence on enemy militaries, infrastructure, and economies. As well as compiling and categorizing data from hostile regimes. The VIC also publicly releases research on friendly regimes in the form of published factbooks and pamphlets.

The VIC is directly responsible for information and electronic warfare of the Federation Defense Forces and are directly responsible for Vuhifell's military space initiatives. The VIC controls and maintains a vast fleet of AWACS E-767 aircraft, spy satellites, U-2 and SR-71 spy planes, naval intelligence vessels, radio and telephone interception stations, and human agents with their vehicles.

The VIC also provides electronic jamming and monitoring equipment and assistance to other military branches, as well as supervises propaganda initiatives against hostile regimes. With such a vital role in the Vuhifellian military, however, the VIC is often at times at odds with the Vuhifellian Protection Agency (VPA), the internal security forces of the Federation.
