Coup d'état in the People's Democratic Republic. Foreign Aide Requested
Gaellecia
15-09-2007, 20:50
An attempted Coup d'état by a disgruntled General of the Gaellecian Democratic Army has led to a general collapse of the central governing body of the country, the PDC [People's Democratic Congress]. Control has been regained throughout most of the People's District of the Republic [PDR] but for small pockets of resistance. But the area outside of the PDR remains in a state of anarchy and revolt against the government. Prime Minister Christiana Deiter (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7b/Monika_Hajkova.jpg) has declared Martial Law and has requested Foreign Military Aide in the recapture of major cities and the restoration of Governmental Control. All foreign military personnel will enter the country via the Republican International Harbor [RIH] and will be rerouted to Novanhausefburg (also called Novansburg); the capital city of Gaellecia. From there they will be directed by the Central Command Office and the Prime Minister personally.

The Vetalian government will aid you in crushing this rebel movement, although we will require some form of compensation for our efforts once we have defeated the rebels and reestablished government control over the territory. As you may know, our military is hardened by years of occupation duty around the Empire, and will work with utmost intensity to bring these areas back under government control. We have the kind of experience and firepower necessary to bring about swift victory against the rebels.
However, in return, we will require a minor concession of sorts. Ideally, we would be willing to purchase that small island off of the coast for conversion in to a new enclave and refueling station for our navy. Further details of this enclave will be provided should you be interested.

We, the Board of Consumer Technologies, regret to inform the nation of Gaellecia that, at this time, it will not lend Gaellecia any direct military assistance. We are prepared, however, to support your cause through arms shipments.
In return for these weapons we ask that Gaellecia give Consumer Technologies lucrative contracts to help rebuild the nation when government control has been reasserted over all majory cities and the rebellion has been crushed.
These are our terms for lending you our assistance, but they are negotiable.

The People's Foreign Ministry,
I would like to personally thank you for the offering aide to Gaellecia. As for you concession; upon completion we will allow you have free access to the islands off the cost for a period of ten years after which you will have to formally request permission to harbor vessels of any military structure there.
I would also like to know how much personnel you will be sending, so I can inform the CCO.

As your country has a fairly small population, we will send a force of 300,000 soldiers to help fight the rebels and reclaim said territory. This should be more than enough manpower to defeat the rebels without suggesting an attempt by our government to influence your politics in any way.

Twenty businessmen in suit and tie sat around a smooth, black wooden table, perfectly reflecting the light from the lamp hanging above it. Their meeting began.
"It seems Gaellecia has rejected our offer for the time being. They do not expect there will be any 'major' enough damage to require our assistance." One of them said.
"Yet we do not intend to let such an oppertunity for profit pass by, do we? It seems to me we will have to lend our aid to rebels. In secret, of course, as relations with Gaellecia will surely sour if they find out." Another spoke.
A third man entered the converation.
"The longer the war lasts, the more damage there will be. I propose we use the local smuggler groups near the border of Gaellecia to bring in covert arms shipments for the rebels. The rebels may not trust us after our offer to the government of Gaellecia, but it's worth a try. All in favour?"

Our forces will begin to move out immediately, and will likely arrive in Gaellecia in no more than a week. Ms. Prime Minister,
We acknowledge your concerns, and as the First Senator of Tagharad, I can assure you, our military force will fully comply with wartime conventions enacted by Gaellecia.
We will continue with the deployment of our forces in the near week. We will dispatch an emissary to you to allow for tighter cooperation of our forces. We are looking forward to cooperating and estabilishing a most profitable relationship in the near future.

The view from the balcony was simply astonishing. The lush, green valley was teeming with life and the massive waterfall in the distance reflected the sun's rays, shining like silver. A single figure stood on the marble terrace, contemplating the view.
Another emerged from the inside and joined the other.
"You summoned me, brother." He spoke with a baritone.
"Ah yes, I've been waiting for you. We have an important matter to discuss and time is of the essence." This voice was definitely older and with noticeable bass.
"The mess in Gaellecia... like somebody stuck a firecracker into a hornet nest."
"Most appropriate comparison. Tagharad is sending a military expedition force there, and the Brotherhood requires someone to oversee this effort."
"You mean me?"
"As a matter of fact, yes. Your briefing and all essential materials are already prepared. You will be leaving tomorrow morning and upon arrival will contact the Prime Minister to estabilish cooperation."
"Yes brother. I will do my best."

The sound of a failed game of minesweeper filled the office, as Ronald's hand slipped, and clicked on a mine.
'Damn' he thought. 'I forgot to turn the bloody sound off...'
He quickly opened up the document he was working on, hoping to weasel out of his mistake by pretending to work as the taskmaster came to check up on him.
He frantically bashed the keys, hoping to get a reply to the sender as quickly as possible, or at least show he'd made some progress from last time he was checked.
Then, he saw a panel pop up in the top right part of the screen.
He'd got mail. An he knew that if it had got this far, it was important.

"And so I bring your attention to the power plant. The train is powered by a pebble bed nuclear reactor, which provides heat to the baths, power to the arc machines and energy for the engine..."
A man stood at the head, a long wooden stick in his hand, which at the present time was circling an unholy collection of lines, scribbles and microscopic text that only a genius with supernatural eyesight could understand, that may or may not have been a plan for a nuclear reactor.
A man raised his hand. He was resting his head on his left palm, and in the raised right one there was a large cigar, a plume of smoke adding to the cloud above the table. This man was Edweard Casey. One of the richest and most influencal people in Weccanfeld.
"So, you’re asking us to freight several dozens of tons of slag when we can simply freight the raw resources to the foundries? This is a stupid waste of money..."
Just as the man with the stick opened his mouth to release several minutes’ worth of technical jargon, someone knocked on the door.
"Come in" shouted the man who had criticised the presenter.
In came Ronald, holding a piece of pare in his hand, who quickly power walked toward the man.
After being shown the paper, he immediately said out loud:
"Well, Gentlemen, it seems Johnny has presented me with an opportunity. He has sent a message to a place called Ga-Ge..." he paused for a seconded, wondering how the odd collection of letters on the paper were said.
A quick whisper from Ronald later, he continued "Gay-ellee-keia. Gayellekia. A place called Gayellekia, asking them on their coal and iron resources. We may have a new source. We should have the news in a couple of minutes. In the meantime, you were saying, Georgea..."
All eyes turned either to the man standing in front, who was beginning to sweat, or the phone, who soon would telling them the answer...

In a very different meeting a couple of miles away, a number of men discussed the latest country to suffer the ravages of civil war.
"...and what if they do not have the vital coalfields we seek? Do we still send forces?" said one of them, earning strange glances from the other members of Weccanfeld's Upper council, and a grin from the First Minister himself.
’I see your asserting yourself, Peter...’ he thought to himself.
“Other resources will do. Coal and Iron are the best, but other metals will do. Maybe Oil as well” He continued out loud.
“But Sir, come on, you know that wherever we go, Damirez always follows us to cause us grief. They’re like a...a shadow, they are! I tell you, they’ll try and paint OUR interests royal blue, they will!.”
“Then we shall have to be swift. Besides, they’re either with us, or they’re with the terrorists. And they don’t support them.”
“Not even if they control most of the country?”
“Who knows what weird ideology they follow? They’re a People's Democratic Republic. And from what I've heard, they are hardly the Princie's cup of tea. No, if they do fight, it'll be alongside us."
"Hopefully."
"Not hopefully. Surely."

Official Message from the office of the First Minister
To the Rightful Prime Minister of Gaellecia
It has come to my attention that the noble nation of Gaellecia has recently been thrown into disarray. I express my support for you and your government.
However, I have a question to ask of you. Weccanfeld is in need of supplies of raw minerals, particularly coal and iron ore. Does Gaellecia have ample supplies of any of these resources that we may acquire mining right to in the near future?
I await your answer with eagerness.
First Minister Joahnathon Iswald Cromtoan, LfL

As a gesture of goodwill CCMS would be willing to provide advisors and technical support to the coming assault.
No formal contract will be required to obtain this service.
Our fee for this would not be monetary, merely a recommendation from your newly installed government that CCMS is a company worthy of it's name.
If further assistance on a more physical level of involvement is required we will require access to any and all information that we deem critical to the services required & a formal contract would have to be brought into effect.

To: Prime Minister of Gaellecia
From: President Haydn Johnson
I have received your call for aid and I would like to give you support. I can give you 5 squads of Special Forces, all trained for situations like hostage rescues and nonlethal take downs. Respond to this message if you accept.
Principality. Intelligence office.
“As you can see, the crisis threatens to engulf the entire country. We believe that lack of intervention would lead to substantial loss of human life. Plus, it might lead to the installation of a dictator at the helm of the country,” a Damiran intel officer commented on the current situation in Gaellecia as he pointed at a holographic map.
“I see, then what do you recommend?” President Librescu, for the first time at a meeting in his quality of president asked the agent with interest, “From what I gather there are still doubts about the structure of their government before this coup.”
“Indeed mister President. We have to wonder what exactly lead to this situation in the first place, coups don’t happen just like that in stable governments,” the agent replied, “We do however believe that allowing the country to be engulfed in anarchy will just lead to a civil war, threatening regional stability in the long run.”
“Yes, that’s true, but we should be wary of what actions we are willing to take. Current reports show that the new Prime Minister has the welfare of her citizens in mind, but we can never know,” Emilian Davout, the foreign minister of the Principality, although at this time the title went to Wallenstein due to him having broken both his legs, added.
“Indeed, mister…” a slow buzz interrupted the agent as he was preparing to reply. “If I may be excused?” he looked at the president waiting for a confirmation, which was rapidly received.
“Yes,” he started talking with someone, “They did what?... Are you sure? So the Weeders are on it too? Ok, I’ll report that.”
“Mister President, Minister Davout, I have just received a disturbing message. It seems that the Weccans are interested in this situation.”
“Well, this settles it then,” the president replied, “We can’t afford not to get involved.”
“Indeed,” the foreign minister confirmed his opinion.

Principality. Undisclosed location.
Octavius was a man that enjoyed his baths. As a pillar of the society and one of the most influential and powerful men in Damirez, he looked forward to these moments of relaxation, far away from the daily stress of running a huge corporation. This is why he was most displeased when someone interrupted his bath.
“Sir…” the voice of his employee ringed in his ears.
“What is it!” he retorted quickly, knowing that it had to be important, but not happy in the slightest about the interruption.
“We have received information regarding Edweard Casey, sir,” the man continued, a bit more confident now.
“What did the Puffer do now?” Octavius asked immediately, all earlier irritation replaced by a sharp focus.
“Well sir, it seems he has expressed interest in the current Gaellecian situation.”
“Probably planning to get some fresh resources…”Belisarius started talking to himself before stopping and dismissing his assistant, “You may go now.”
“Yes sir.”
This was an interesting situation. His rivalry with Casey was well known in Weccanfeld and he had no plans on allowing the man to get the upper hand, Casey already had the advantage of home ground so any action he took had to be countered. Octavius was certain that an opportunity will quickly present itself.
