A ship struggled through one of Xanadou's storms. Aboard was a young school girl from LatinByzatines. This was a new person who was comming to Kurona. She sat writing in her diary as the ship bobbed up and down and rocked from side to side. Outside her port window she could see the harsh seas and the black skies.


Salinas Kurona was a town in the far west, not on the coast but right in the middle of farm country. It was pretty conservative town as well. Arellia was a oridnary farm girl on the outside. Moderate height naturally tan skin. She was secretly lesbian. The only person she told was her sister, who was now in the Navy. She whiped the sweat from her brow.


The next day started as an ordinary school day. But a new student came in. A girl from the country of LatinByzatines. Arellia looked up from her book to see her. She was beautiful! The new student took a seat next to her.

"Hi...I'm Arellia."

Charlotte looked at the student next to her and smiled at her, just moments ago everyone in the class knew she was a new student. She looked at Arellia and began to speak.

"My name is Charlotte, nice to meet you."

"You too. So just moved to Kurona? What brings you here?"

Arellia finished the letter. No one in the school had the name Hakura-May so it wouldn't matter. She shoved it into the locker and ran off for home.

When Charlotte got to her locker, she found the letter and studied it for a moment before placing it into her backpack, it seemed someone took an interest in her, on her first day at school. When she got home, she did not show her parents the letter but went to read it over again. Who was Hakura-May?

The next day came and she went back to school. She went to her classes and then went to lunch. Sitting at one of the cafeteria's many tables, she quietly ate her lunch, thinking about her time so far here in school.

"Hey, rember me Arellia from the other day? How is your second day so far?"

"Oh fair enough. Just got here late though and was yelled at. Not my fault though, one of my families cows went into labor suddenly and I had to help deliver it. So I overslept. So word around school is you are reciving love letters." Actually no one knew, she was trying to make sure she got the letter.

Later that day a second letter was made.

As I mentiond in my fist letter your beauty always suprises me. Your hair today was quite exceptional.

Charlotte looked at Lily and greeted her casually, she talked to her for a moment before she left at the sight of Arellia. After Charlotte read the second letter, she became a bit more interested in who this person was that was sending her letters. She then turned to see Arellia, who was asking if she wanted to visit for dinner.

"Dinner? Sure, I guess. What time?"

Charlotte listened to what Arellia had to say before she began to speak. “A sleep over? That could be arranged some day. Also, your room is quite nice and clean, easy to walk around in." Charlotte said before going downstairs to enjoy dinner with Arellia, who kept staring at Charlotte and looked away if she ever turned to look back. After dinner and some other stuff, Charlotte thanked them all for their hospitality and left the house, Arellia could have gone to stop her but she did not, instead she let her go…now she had to wait till school. At Charlotte’s home, she read over the second letter and then got ready for tomorrow.

"Arellia, sweetheart, would you please take the extra dishes back down to the storm cellar?"

"Mama do I have to it's pouring out there?"

Arellia ran into the rain and down into the cellar. She placed the box of dishes down in the corner. Now she really wanted to see what Char looked like in the rain. She walked her home but the storm hadn't hit till now. But what luck the Almanac predicted rain for tomorrow as well.


Unable to sleep she grabed the lantern and slipped into a hide-away.

I feel like I'm just learning more and more about you every day.

The next day the thunderstorm hadn't let up much. Arellia managed to stuff the note in her locker just in the nick of time.

Charlotte recieved the fourth letter and stored it with the others when she went for her fourth day of school. After finishing her classes, it was time for lunch again, so she went to the cafeteria, chose a table and ate her lunch like everyone else was doing. At the same time, she thought about the mysterious "Hakura-May".

Charlotte was amazed to hear that Arellia was a lesbian. She talked to Lily and the others for a while before they noticed Arellia coming forward to talk to them. She was nervous because people who disliked her were trying to influence the one girl she loved. A skirmish of words soon began.....

Some people helped her out and then Arellia's enemies taunted her, etc as they left.

"Break it up!" The gymn teacher shouted with anger. Several kids scattered as the principal vice principal and other teachers came in to break the figh up. "Oh dear, young lady we need to get you to the nurses office."

"Well her nose is broken," The school nurse said. She contiuned on as Arellia approached Charlotte

"Hey, sorry about your nose getting broken. It's my fault I shouldn't have started the fight."

Charlotte never heard Arellia as she was rushed by the teachers to the school nurse. Arellia felt bad about what happened, it only got worse after a while with the taunting and insults. As Arellia walked to deliver the fourth letter, she saw through the door window Charlotte getting fixed up by the school nurse.

Charlotte came out of the nurse's office with a bandaged nose that had a cast on it. Her voice sounded a bit different because of this and people did not say anything rude when she walked by to get to her locker. After getting her things, she walked by Lily and the others who smiled at her, they seemed to like her. Charlotte explained to her parents she had a accident when they asked about her nose that night.

Charlotte sat at the dinner table while Arellia made her breakfast. "I should get back home soon." Charlotte said as Arellia gave her the food.

"I think I will wear my own clothes." Charlotte said as she went to get changed and then came back out, ready to go see her parents back home.

"That's fine." They left the house and went back into town to Char's house.

They entered the home, Char's parents ran out needless to say they weren't happy.

Charlotte's parents looked happy enough that their daughter was home safely and as her father took Charlotte inside, Charlotte's mother replied to what Arellia said. Arellia seemed to be studying Charlotte's mother, it seems that sometimes good looks were passed on.

"Well, it is nice to hear you had good intentions. Thank you for that and for bringing Charlotte to us." Charlotte's mother said nicely before going back inside, the door closing.

"Your welcome. Have a good day."

Just like that Aurellia left for home. She didn't want to be alone. The day grew hot. Aurellia was still hard at work restoring the crops from the hail storm last night. She removed her shirt but was still in her overalls. Her parents wouldn't be home for another day or so. She really longed for Char, she couldn't see her self with anyone else. But as such her luck was just terrible.

(Perhaps there is a possibility for a letter from Arellia? Also, should we stay in the weekend or fast forward to school?)

Charlotte kept the letter with the others as she went to her classes for the day. Arellia looked at Charlotte whenever she could and it was at lunch that another confrontation would happen. Arellia could see Charlotte being surrounded by Lily and the others.......

"Good." They walked away. Arellia was left dissapointed. Later that day a sudden rain storm came on.

Char,

Seeing as you don't have any rain gear today, I thought I'd give you mine, so you don't have to get soaked in the rain or wait for it to let up. You may even keep it if you like. I have another.

Charlotte took the rain coat and after putting it on, she took the letter and went home. She was thinking about what happened at lunch earlier and wondered what would happen next.

Arellia was curious as to why she kept doing nice jestures for the girl who rejected her. Maybe she really still would always love her regardless. Right now sleeping in bed she longed for her company with the crashing thunder.

The next day it was still pouring. The students all buttoned down in raincoats came in. Including Char.

"Oh hey..." Arellia said. "Good, I'm glad you got the coat."

I know it's raining and all but afterschool would you please meet me at the corner of Cherry Street. From there I will take us a place where we can talk.

Charlotte read the letter and then dropped her backpack, etc at home before going to Cherry Street, waiting to meet Arellia.

Charlotte looked at Arellia and nodded before turning to see Lily and the others coming towards them, mocking Arellia. Charlotte, hoping to avoid similar treatment, slapped Arellia (not intentionally) and ran away, leaving Arellia alone.

Arellia held her hand to her cheek and left for home. The next day school had been called off due to the ever threating mood of the weater.

"Hey, uh...I was wondering seeing as we don't have class today, we can work on our Kurma Homework."

Charlotte nodded and allowed Arellia into her house, her parents were out at the moment. Arellia was amazed to see how nice Charlotte's place was. They took their seats at the dinner table and began working on their homework.

"You have a nice house. Oooh the weather is looking bad, I don't like this."

"Thank you." Charlotte said as she worked hard on her homework, the clothes she wore tempted Arellia to stare sometimes. As they worked, Charlotte looked at where Arellia was seating...but no one was there.

Before Charlotte could respond, her parents came through the door and into the room. After they asked what was going on, Charlotte said that Arellia was just leaving.

The next day was a school day and as Charlotte was getting some books from her locker, one of the guys who hanged out with Lily was coming towards her.....

"Hey there..." He started off with small talk about how bad the weather was and he asked if their home took any damage.

"No reports of any tornado touch downs but I still think there was a small one. Well anyway I was wondering if you would go to a dance with me? There is one this weekend."

Despite knowing that this guy hanged out with Lily and all that, Charlotte gave him a smile and said she would be pleased to go to the dance with him. "What time will you pick me up?"

"7:00 okay with you?"

She agreed. The night of the dance had arrived. Everyone in town except Arellia went. What she would have given to go with the girl of her dreams. Enough was enough she needed to confront her one last time. "Ma'ma, I'm going into town."

She threw on her jacket and left.

They locked lips just as Arellia came in. She felt heart broken. Some time later after the dance had ended and Jason broke away for a bit, Arelia approached her.

"Shut up!" Lily pulled a gun from under her dress. "You stupid filthy peice of nature can't just leave civilized people alone."

Jason grew nervouse. "Lily, holy crap what are you doing with a gun in school?"

"You are! I can tell these things about people, I can." She pulled her close and kissed her.

Charlotte looked at Arellia and was about to talk when she heard Lily and the others, growing nervous with every word spoken and especially when Lily pulled out the gun, pointing it at Arellia. As time passed with more and more heated words and insults, the gun fired and a bullet came out of it, going through the air, aimed at Arellia. It soon hit flesh and the sound of a bullet going ceased. A small moan was heard but it was not Arellia. The dress Charlotte wore was being stained by blood which was coming out more and more slowly. She slowly sank to the ground, her eyes blinking, life flashing before her. Lily and the others became nervous, especially Jason who had a bit of an inclination towards Charlotte. Arellia screamed and tried to help the girl she loved. Weakly, Charlotte began to speak. “The bell toils for me.” She uttered. “It is toiling.” A picture of her life entered her mind and then…..silence.

She fell into Jason's armes "Get help!"

Lily stood stuned along with Arellia screamed in horror and tried to save her. "No don't die! Don't die!"
She applied preasure to her wounds. No good. The teachers finally arrived. They felt for a pulse. Nothing.

Charlotte's life flashed before her eyes as she laid there, being examined by the teachers and later doctors. They kept trying to find a pulse for some time before Charlotte said her last words: "Now I shall go to sleep. Goodnight." and then her eyes closed for the last time. It would only be a matter of time before the parents came.

They struggled giving her CPR but eventually she faded.

The Principal broke the horrible news about their daughter. "Now it's up to you whether or not you want to press charges against the assalent."

As the mother wept, holding her deceased child, the father spoke sternly. "One thing I would like to know is how did this all happen." he said as he looked at the corpse of his deceased daughter before looking back to the principal.

"Apparently some sort of argument erupted between two girls, what about we really don't know, and it must of gotten personal a gun was pulled. Your daughter just got caught in the cross fire unfortunatley."

"How could this have all happened?"

Charlotte’s funeral lasted quite some time, people of all sorts including Arellia visited. While Lily did not come, she was still stunned and nervous about what happened, Jason came to pay his respects to the girl who he danced with that tragic night, a fitting title would be La Noche Triste. As the service went on, Arellia could see Charlotte’s mother weeping madly, she knew Char’s mother was one of the best mothers she ever saw, always there to help and the like. Arellia cried too, the girl she loved was now gone, a corpse in the ground just like the others all around them. After the funeral, Arellia stayed behind to listen to the final words Char’s parents had to say as they paid their respects. “We will always love you.” Char’s mother said before leaving, crying with every step. Later, Arellia came to pay her final respects with a love letter…this time not written but said orally. She had come to pay her respects.

"Good bye Char." Just like that she left flowers and one last letter.



Dearest Charlotte,

This was all my fault. I shouldn't have gotten you involved in all this. I was selfish for your love. I just wanted you to love me just like I loved you. I guess it wasn't meant to be. Enjoy your self in Heaven. I'm sure you will be very happy up there and will make other happy. I hope one day I will see you again.
