The Census and Statistics Ministry of New Brittonia has just reported that the one-billionth citizen of the United Socialist States of New Brittonia has been born. The Ministry of Census and Statistics claims that at 3:51 PM (1551 for those using the 24 hour clock) Haarlem Standard Time the 300 millionth Brittonian Sanne De Jong was born at Haarlem University Medical Hospital, located on the island of Sint Eustatius, to Lars De Jong, 28, and Emma Jansen De Jong, 33.
“I hope that this gets noticed with a bang, and not just a whimper.”, said Minister of Census and Statistics Océane De Moüel
Some might say that it went with a bang. Celebrations were not only in the city of Haarlem, where the girl was born, but also throughout New Brittonia. In Haarlem, fireworks were lit off by coastal boats. In Epsom, capital of New Brittonia, among other cities, fireworks were lit off and parties were held.
However, some do not believe that Ms. De Jong was the billionth Brittonian. In Cecilia, largest city on the Blue Isle, John Hughes was born; his parents claim he was the billionth Brittonian. In West Epsom Municipal Hospital, Yūka Yamaguchi was born to former refugees from the Free Furry Islands. She was one of around 50 or so nun-human sentients that were born from former refugees from the Free Furry Islands. She may not be the billionth Brittonian but she is one of the second-generation Free Furry Islander-Brittonian.
-----------
The United Socialist States of New Brittonia wishes to invite foreign diplomats to Haarlem University Medical Hospital to a cake and juice party to celebrate Sanne De Jong’s birth. Haarlem is home to an international airport and an extensive mass transit system. Directions will be given upon request.
