Tell them someone is on the way "
A ship was plowing through unknown space, well not unknown, they had been here before, just 400 years ago when all the great powers were still around, perhaps they still were. The ECF had went into a large civil war about 395 years ago, since the federation came out as the victor, all joint fleet operations had been halted. All ships were recalled to ECF space, which to this day was unknown by any other race. All those allies... all those foes and no one had ever found it. Probably because it was not even in a galaxy, rather in between galaxy's in a tiny cloud of stars, barely viable on a telescope. No one had ever made 1st contact until they traveled to the milky way and made contact, but now it was time to return.

They had been in space since allot of races were flinging mud at each other, ships armed with weapons many of these newer races could never understand. However, once they dropped into the milk way, they noicted something, on the very edge of sensors.

" No way, set a course maximum warp, and hail them. "
The Small 250 meter ship was throwing itself through space, the target was 200 lightyears away, they would be there in about half an hour.

Surely the old collective would recgonize our type of reactor once we got close enough.

Unfortunately what was left of the collective was not using their sensors. The old collective of blackgrue was now reduced to a single ship, and a few scattered debris throughout their old territory. They did not fare so well as their ECF counterparts and in the end they were kicked out of the milky way galaxy alltogether. The final ship lie on a small unattended asteroid about 200 lightyears outside the milky way. The 5,000 drones and 3 queens on board simply lay in wait for an ally, or at least a friendly species to find them. The omega molocule core of the ship was inert from the long wait and the Gravity-wave engine was being used as a makeshift-generator providing just enough power for the drones to survive... and to transmit a basic proximity signal to all who cared to listen...

The ship raced towards the old ally at maxium warp, soon arriving.

What the captain saw really confused him. " Opps, Open a channel. Borg Vessel, what the hell happaned? "

The command queen lay dissassembled within the heart of the sphereical ship. without the need for a command decision she was in a state of near-hibernation for almost the past 100 years... suddenly a ping awakened her quickly she sent the messege to nearby drones *Respond to this hail. I don't care if we starve RESPOND TO THIS HAIL*

The ECL vessel recieved a weak response from the scoutship, text only.

"The collective has not fared well... we are all that remains, and all that survives of the BLACKGRUE collective."

" I can see that, prepare to be pulled aboard I think we can help. "

A blue beam shot out of the bottom of the ship and begun to pull the stricken scot out of the astroid.

" Open the launch bay doors, turn on the spatial feild and get a containment feild setup in side, preapre a power source for them to "

The small scout was pulled towards the small ECF ship, a strange feild begun to form around the launch bay doors, the borg must think it'll never fit. But they were in for a big surprise..

" SIr we have the ship in the luanch bay, the spatial geometry feild worked just fine. Nice little peice if you ask me "

" Good commander, now have a power beam directed at that ship in the containment feild, maybe it'll wake them up "

By hand 2 worker drones were assembling the command queen. The 2 subcommand queens were already assembled at the time and were watching the process with an amount of disgust. The obvious equipment to assemble her lie dissassembled and used for the gravity-wave generator that untill they were pulled in had provided the small trickle of power to the collective for the past 150 years since the Omega molocules became inert. Slowly but surely the queen was assembled and all three queens strode confidently to an airlock. Of course the spherical nature of the ship, and the lack of landing gear ment that they had to leap down around 200 meters onto the floor below. But that was not a problem. They awaited the arrival of any sort of welcoming party.

" Make sure you re configure the walls, I dont want any computer access in the launch bay, no offense to them, but who knows what all this time like that did to them, I'll be in the bay "

The borg probably noticed the walls turn blue for several seconds, then re appear compltely bare expect for the power stream.

The captain of the ship walked in with 2 armed escorts behind him.

" I dont beleive we've met before, let me introduce myself, I am Sean M. Willing, Captain of the Frigate Reliant. I ummm, managed to do some reading about your people, and you were a pretty large power when we left the milkyway, what exactly happened to you? And oh, dont worry about the whole bigger inside than outside thing, you'lll figure it out soon enough, really simple really. Im sure your scans dont match anything you found in our ships of the past, nothing is the same really. Also, dont be frightned, we are quite safe from any hostiles on this ship. So, care to tell me what happened? "

The command queen brushed off some of the dust from her skin. "I am Leadership unit 6831... Prime command unit of this vessel... and acting prime queen of the collective. We were driven out of our space by a coilition of races using temporal weaponry. the other collectives in alternate timelines decided that this timeline was lost, however my vessel was left to maintain an open presence in this timeline. We've been sitting on that rock for about one hundred and fifty earth years when our omega molocule generator died... and as for scanning the area... the only power we can spare is the power to run our own systems. Untill you recharged us the power we could generate per day was measurable in megawatts. Untill the drones have fully regenerated the damage they've sustained over the course of that time, myself and my colleges are doing the only scans of your vessel via our holographic imaging systems."

" Well, I hope you dont mind that we're going to get going pretty soon, I really dont want to be in a region of space that could still have other powers, well in power really, Bridge this is the captain Set a course for the edge of this cesspoll of a galaxy, Half Warp. I want to be taking some scans, so keep it down to warp 19. Half throttle, I'll be in the berfing room, M'am if you'll follow me to the conferance room? Come please. "

He lead the queen through several pasageways one the ship, she probably had memories of ships like this, howevre alot had changed snice 400 years ago, technology had changed and the borg had been left behind, while most things were sheilded from scanning due to secuitrty reasons and the way the ship was built, she could only get a limited scan of what is going on. But from what she could see, she probably knew the ECF had come a long way.

" Here m'am, please have a seat, I want to discuss the course of action you wish to take "

Meanwhile, forcefeilds came on inside the bay, not to stop the borg from anything, they just simply covered the floors and walls.

The command queen sat down, the subcommand queens had opted to stay behind in the launch bay. "As for course of action, whatever happens we wish to maintain the alliance...We still have access to all of our memory. We've also developed many theoretical models of new weapons and energy technology, and of course defences our speciality. If we could find an empty planet we can rebuild... and unfortunately all we have to offer is our knowledge and designs."

" Thats all well and good, but the question is, you guys need to rebuild, and you cant stay here, however, there is a planet that you might find useful. Class D, very desolate, almost impossible to live on, however from what command has told me about you people, thats the kinda stuff you love, its rich in ores, and other resources, as well as in a safe location. However its about 120,000light years from here, any guess as to what it might be near? "

"We can survive indefiniately in the vaccuum of space so long as we are fed energy, so any planitoid will work... and 120,000 lightyears... that would be the andromeda galaxy I believe."

" ehhh, I'll make a little confession, about 210,000, in the other direction, you wont be able to guess because its not any any star chart, up for a little ride? "

"By all means captain." the queen said. "Anything is better then that rock..."

" Ook, Bridge set a course for the homeworld, and Im sure you know what to do. "

A slight vibration was felt, and a split second later the homeworld could be seen in the distance out of the window.

" We have, the best drive system out there "

Outside the window, huge defense platforms could be seen, thousands of smaller ships travling in neat lines, and several 10km+ warships could be seen, it was truely an amazing site, there was more energy created in some of the warships then was being created in the center star. A very impressive site to behold.

" Yeah, its not much but its our homeworld, no stars to see either. From here we are going to proceed to spacedock to take on some supplys for you guys, bridge, head for spacedock 2, quater impulse "

More massive ships could been simply sitting stationy before heading out for patrols.

" Amazing sight really, what your seeing here is some of the most advanced vessels in the known universe "

"I agree... there is nothing more satisfying then instantainious travel. Going to your own space from the forboding frontier even moreso." the queen sat back in the chair. "If I may display a bit of individuality for a moment. I can hardly believe after 400 years I may preside over the creation of a new collective."

" Ive already talked to the president before we came down to the launch bay, the place you'll be taken is about 40 lightyears outside of ECF space, its pretty much the last system before you hit nothing, but dont worry, our sensor grid extends about 2,000 lightyears out, as does the defense sensor grid. I wouldnt plan on having anyone else be here, no one has ever found out territory. I think you'll find it quite nice, so while the supplies are being loaded onboard, how did you pass the time exactly? "

" Captain, supplies are onboard, setting course, Warp 11, eta about 4 hours "

"It certainly helps to be a race that has not discovered the concept of boredom." The queen said smirking. "I'm joking of course, only the drones don't have boredom. The queens have had to make do with little things we stole from a human archive in our prime timeline... Things like Pong and Tetris."
