Colstream President charged

Colstream
11-09-2007, 21:36
The Republic Of Colstream's president, Steve Jackson has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to incite a communist coup in the capital Ashland. The Coup Plotters had been monitored by the CSS-Colstream Secret Service and the CFB- Colstream Federal Bereau. They had been heard to say that they were to let the Colstream Communist Party take power and turn the Republic Of Colstream into a Communist Republic. This comes weeks after the Communist Rebel attack on Ashland which started the Colstream Civil War which left over 7000 people dead, 1 Million injured and 2300 homeless in the northern border lands. The Crack Colstream Spetsnaz was called in as the plotters were going to start the coup at midnight, 12th September. Also a division straight from the front in the troubled country of Thive went in and secured the government sector within minutes. A new president, James Parker has been sworn in and the government of the Republic Of Colstream is running normally. Tanks, APCs and Infantry now patrol the centre of Ashland which is now under martial law untill 1pm BST tomorrow.

If your form of government was truly strong and desired by the people, you would have nothing to fear from the extremist parties. Driving them underground will only strengthen their resolve and may ultimately lead to their downfall. It's happened before IRL; several times in Latin America, and IIRC what Hitler did after the Reichstag fire comes close to a self-coup. It's an awfully convenient way to change your own government to what you like; assuming the legislature is being balky and you have the military or whatever else sufficiently on your side, of course.

Just hours after the presidential election which confirmed James Parker as President of The Republic Of Colstream, the north of the country has been turned into an independant country called the Eastern Republic Of Colstream.

WAR ERUPTS IN REPUBLIC OF COLSTREAM

Communist forces from East Colstream have attacked Republic of Colstream forces. The war is in danger of spreading into nearby countries because of the nature of the government that took over in the north which is made up of mainly communinist party members and Colstream Army Soldiers that are sympathetic to their cause. The divisions that defected are mainly small bands of units but are armed with very modern weapons. The Capital of the Republic Of Colstream, Ashland is only 40 miles from the Eastern Border of the Republic and is in a high state of alert. The Republic Of Colstream is now asking for international assistance from any countrys that want to assist the Current government.

President Hatike sat at his desk enjoying his morning coffee when his defence minister burst through the doors,
"sir we have a situation red in the nation of colstream"
Hatike took a slow sip of his coffee
"why would this matter to us may i ask?" as he took another sip
"well you said you needed somthing to turn around this years election this could be it, you helping out the little guy"
"ok give me the details"
"Looks like hard fisted comunist are trying to over throw the current nation..."

The president stood up and walked to his large office window that over looked Kalrook "Ok we will send international assistance, first form an ocean blockade to avoid any unwanted interference"

"who are we going to send?"

"send the red fez infantry company 1A and company 1C, we can support them with 4 ghost strike teams, Alpha, Delta, foxtrot and tango. I also want 4,000 marines on stand by"

"understood sir, we will prep 4 Aircraft carriers and 10 destroyers aswell as 4 frigates to form the blockade, they will be in colstream waters at 2000 hours"

All over krapickstan airstrips prepared the hercules C-30 transports that would provide further needed surplies once a foot hold in the country had been secured.

As the fleet of ships crashed though the oceans growing ever closer to colstream the marines were being briefed of there objectives.

primary: Secure the beaches for further landings
secondary:Re-supply government forces

The would then keep the area secure allowing the red fez infantry troops to come ashore. However whilst the marines were doing this the ghost teams were being briefed with a much more dangerouse task. They would fly deep into enemy territory and secure the givernment officials for extraction.

Primary: Rescue officials
secondary: destroy communist assests

they were hoping the operation would be swift and simple however they knew from expirience that small countrys were somtimes the most fiece of fighters.

Lt killac sat in the officers lounge on board the trudent, knowing that in 45 minutes his team would be deployed to rescue government officials trapped in the countries capitol.
The entire lounge was silent the juke box wasnt even playing, he thought of how hours earlier he was playing basketball at liemo airforce base. he sighed to himself having just finished his "last thoughts letter" that would be given to his wife in event of his death.
Meanwhile on deck F18 pilots prepped there air craft for a bombing raid of comunist controlled air basis. The destroyers and frigates were starting to form a blockade in the countys waters the air craft carriers would hang back out of the line of fire.

Private first class vincent stood on a cat walk over looking the flight deck, gripping his red fez with anticipation. He had never seen combat before and was looking forward to getting to finally see some action. He stared down onto the pilots prepping the aircraft, the air force had been his forst choice to be just like his farther however he was denied the priviledge and instead enlisted in the Red Fez infantry. He then looked up and onto the horizon were he could just make out the lights of colstreams coastal towns.

Secret IC:

To the rightful government of Colstream,
Unfortunately, the anti-war views of the Parliament prevent us from engaging in a full-scale war with the communist insurgents in your nation. However, we are willing to submit certain paramilitary elements of the Royal Secret Service into colstream, in order to destabilize the communist regime and to organize and lead a guerrilla war against the communists, four of these six-man teams are being deployed as we speak, if you have any objections to this, please inform us immediately. The RSS will finance this guerrilla movement and is also prepared to support you monetarily. Additionally, we can provide intelligence resources and other covert missions you would like us to undertake.

A single privately chartered Boeing 747, with the words 'Transworld Consortium' emblazoned on the side, touched down in a private airstrip in Western Colstream, though near the border. Twenty-six men walked off of the plane. Two of the men went around, shaking all the others' hands then returned on to the plane. Minutes later, it took off.

The men on the ground were dressed, casually, as businessmen; each carrying their own duffle bag. The average age of the group was about forty-five. Their body types ranged from deathly thin to somewhat overweight, though none appeared overly built or incredibly muscular. No one would have ever imagined that these men could be the determined, ferocious, elite paramilitary commandoes that popular fiction envisioned were at the command of Atruria's Royal Secret Service. No casual observer would think these men to be master strategists, each with twenty or so years of special forces experience, well-versed in guerrilla warfare.

The twenty-four men divided into four teams. Bravo Team discarded their clothes in exchange for garmets of the Colstream working class, in their bags, and hotwired a pickup truck. Charlie Team rented an SUV from a local car rental agency. Golf and Foxtrot Teams posed as common criminals, hijacking a mobile truck that was meant to be transporting sneakers. Within four hours, each team was situated well into the communist-controlled Eastern Colstream.

Mission Review:
The 4 black hawks pulled away from the carrier and began to head inland the insurgents were surprisingly well organised with multiple attempts made to take out the air craft.
The plan was that Alpha and bravo secured the government officials whilst tango and foxtrot provided ground support, the helos would then provide air support.

Lt killac comanded Ghost alpha whom repelled out of his choppper and down to the roof of the capital building with the rest of his 8 man team, bravo would deploy at the other side of the building. they forced entry into the building via a glass sky window and began moving to where the government officials had barricaded themselves, the halls were dark and littered with corpses of secuirty personelle and politicians alike. they cleared the east wing room by room before coming across the main government officials and 2 security personelle as well as 3 government soldiers they began making there way to roof extraction when gun fire erupted outside between foxtrot and tango against a group of comunist militia, the minie guns onboard the black hawks blasted the burning hot shells to the ground... to be continued

(OOC: Knew there was something coming...)

President Pierce stared at his Defence Secretary.

"Say again?"

"Colstream is in a state of civil unrest."

"That's the fifth freakin' nation this freakin' week. Why should I freakin' care?"

"They were a damn good ally in Thive, sir" Said the Defence Secretary, giving Pierce a 'Excuse me, you should freakin' care, matey-boy' look.

Pierce gave in. Slowly.

"Well...I suppose..."

His face began to lift into a grin. A small one, seeing as it was 8 in the morning.

"They were a good help in that conflict. Not one of those war-mongering new idiot nations that spring up around the world on a daily basis. We owe them a favor, methinks"

"Youthinks right. Shall I call a meeting in the Defence Registry in Hardraria?

"John, this is a political office in a politicalhouse filled with people with political jobs. You're supposed to be part of the pack, not lead and make your own decisions"

The Defence Secretary grinned.
Peirce went on.

"Damn lucky you're right. One-Thirty should give everyone time to have lunch. Make it a date"

The trip to the Defence Registry in Hardraria City would take one and a half hours on the Interstate, and he couldn't fill his mouth with sandwiches that way. On the other hand, taking an Antigran Pacific express train woud mean the poulation would crawl all over him. He didn't mind that, except when he was in a hurry. So, the Interstate was the obvios choice. He'd just have to have a huge Breakfast.

The President was a man that answered his own phone. Therefore, he drove his very own Antigran-built McCraw G3, which could do a hundred and seventy miles per hour. Still a long journey.

After a hastily-eaten mega-breakfast and a few indigestion-releiving tablets, he set out. In a car with a bodygaurd with an Assault Rifle.

He arrived at the building in Ninety minutes flat. Not bad, considering that he had to weave round thirty fire engines from the Auston Volunteer Fire Department attending a large accident. The building was a large one. He would be greeted by massive stone pillars, elaberately shaped in the unique Antigran architecture. Wooden floors and walls covered with marble plates with writing on them. It helped him take his mind off the serious situation developing in a country not his own.

They had to wait a while for the last member of the War cabinet to arrive. He didn't. They found that he was the man Pierce had passed on the motorway, surrounded by Fire Engines.
Pierce thought. Ah, well, such is life. Bad luck. Nothing more to it, unfortunately. The same could not be said about the Situation in Colstream. That was more than bad luck.

Twenty minutes into the meeting. They had come to some sort of agreement:
Armed forces. In the current world, men in suits talking nicely to men in suits from the other side didn't impress or work.

The Defence Secretary spoke up. "Armed forces. Airborne is out, too many in foreign ops. How about...the marines?"

The President answered. "Why not?"

The Defence secretary had obviously rehearsed and planned this. That went down fairly okay.
"Here's what I propose"

He rolled out three sheets of A4 paper. The most important infomation out of the three was this:

NAVAL FORCES
Task Force Breconda
-Standard Warships
-Carrier Force
-Landing Force, comprised of Marines backed up by Regular Infantry

LAND FORCES
VII Armoured Corps with attached marine force
-1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Marine Corps Divisions, lead force
-1st, 4th, 13th, 28th, 50th Armoured Divisions
-Standard Support Divisions
-7th Infantry

AIR FORCES
-Army Air Corps Wing
-Navy Air Arm detachments based on carriers

This was widely agreed to.
An hour on, and it had been decided that they would do exactly as the Defence Minister suggested.
Their D-Day.

President Pierce spoke to a secretary before leaving. They talked in low voices, before she sent a telegram to Colstrea with details of whatwas going to happen. If they agreed. If they didn't, all they had to say was no and negotiate more.

The incident shocked the forces onboard a near by landing craft 348

"shut up and duck down private"

the rest of the soldiers looked in horror as 201 sank below the waves 24 men killed in an instant, unfortunatly 3 more landing craft would end up at the bottom of the ocean.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM

That was the roar of the S.F.F. Delaroy's 415mm guns.
It acted as a signal.
Immediately after the salvo, landing craft began to head towards the beach.
Like the Krapickstani forces, the Antigrans encountered mild resistance.
A few artillery peices and RPGs gaurded the beach.
PFC Kawalski was manning a .50 cal.
He aimed through the 200 metre sight and began to fire. With help from another marine's Light Anti-Armour Rocket, he managed to knock out an artillery crew.
An RPG streaked toward a landing craft. Luckily, the craft had nothing but infantrymen in it - no exlposives or anything like that to detonate. It striked the side of the vessel, killing four marines and knocking the craft over.
The remaining survivors, luckily, were from a regiment mainly formed in the state of Calendonia, so naturally they were good swimmers. Some were cut down by machine gun fire, but most managed to get to a few large empty crates dropped by another landing craft as cover.
Several amphibious vehicles responded with 30mm cannons, mortars, and close-support howitzers.

Twenty seconds later. They hit the beach. Kawalski and his platoon sprinted out of the landing craft. It's job was done.
They hid behind some beach obstacles, occasionally firing their weapons.
The whining of tank tracks broke the tension as a light tank rolled by, deployed by a regular landing craft not carrying infantry.

Kawalski ran after the vehicle and stuck behind it, like the rest of his platoon.
Anything not decimated by the tank would be decimated by the soldiers.
Soon, they would be off the beach. Hopefully, they could rendezvous with the Colstream forces. Also hopefully, they would tell them where to rendezvous, because if the Antigrans had no objectives, they would have to sit on the beach and get blown apart by enemy artillery.

Please could you link up with Colstream forces that are advancing towards your landing sites to cut all Eastern Colstream forces from the coast and establish a strong beachhead in Eastern Colstream. Colstream Forces have pushed a 10 mile salient in Eastern Colstream and intelligence has found that there are strong armoured elements opposite your landing sites which amount to 8 full strength crack divisions that have not been attacked because they were hidden from the air cover. MOVE WITH EXTREME CAUTION- they will fight to the last man as several Colstream Divisions found out and suffered around 40% casualties and all of these units are resting behind the front line because of this.

If you looked at a previous thread called "Civil War In Colstream" you would have seen that there was a small communist rebel attack which broke out into a war but was solved. Then the previous president tried to install a communist government by helping rebels but failed. There was then an election in this thread which put the current President in power which the communists rejected. This has led into the seperation where a separate rogue government has been formed and the war being restarted but on a larger scale.

There has been a success on the Colstream Army Front. 10 Divisions has broken through and is around 12 hours from linking up with your forces. We are also about 24 mile from the Eastern Colstream Capital, Hetuarie. Can you try to link up your bridgeheads or do you need any assistance?

The commander of the Antigran forces, recently-promoted General McIntyre, had received the message from the Colstream forces.

He looked out of the command vehicle. Landing craft were still arriving, bringing troops and trucks and things.
This was bad. They were still vulnerable, even with their naval and air power.
McIntyre had no choice, however - he had to try and link up. Their very first assault on Colstream soil.

Thirty minutes later.
A Sergeant-Major cleared his throat.

"All guns - com-meeence firing!"

The Marines' scores of light guns, as well as a few SPGs of the Antigran Armoured, fired.
In the first salvo, 275 shells streaked toward enemy positions. Then, the tanks rolled off. Most of the vehicles of 1st, 13th, and 40th Armoured had been deployed, as well as most of the Marines' older MT-40 MBTs.
Any taargets identified as enemies would be decimated. Any wishing to surrender would be taken, although none were expected.
Above the tanks, helicopters and fighter-bombers flew towards the enemy positions to bombard them.
Behind the tanks would follow all forces that had been deployed, with the exception of a division to guard the beachhead.

(OOC: Colstream, you'd better make this battle into a damn decent post. By the way, you do remember General McIntyre, don't you?)

To Antigr: Yes i do remember him. I must warn you that when you engage, don't attack head on because the units near you are elite and will never retreat untill they are more or less decimated.
--------------------------------------------------
An Eastern Colstream tank commander, John Cramer, looks from his T54 with interest as Antigran forces move from the beach into the surrounding countryside. He had a formation of 80 tanks under his command and also had a full view of all the beachead. " The Antigran forces are braver than i thought" he thought to himself. "Maybe they are ready for a fight after all". The Eastern Colstream General, Chris Black's voice crackled over the radio. "Kraplickstan forces in heavy engagements with our forces. Republic Of Colstream forces now only 18 miles from the capital and stopping every conter-attack thrown at them. You must not let the Antigran Army to break through as their lines are only 2 mile from Colstream Army lines and if they break through, your division will be surrounded and destroyed. Also they are vunerable because there lines of communication and support look to be not properly organised. Also this is their first engagement against us. They are experienced due to the Thive conflict which we fought in before the breakup. They will fight for every piece of ground. Good luck and long live Eastern Colstream!" The radio went silent and John Cramer whispers to his men, " Well men, this is it. We either fight or die, there is no turning back. If you retreat i will shoot you myself." The greatest battle since the Thive conflict is about to begin.....

General McIntyre, thanks to his scouts from the Air Cavalry, knew what was going on and what was moving down to the metre. He knew that East Colstream forces were getting ready for a battle.

The tanks used by them looked like Russian T54s. No match for the Antigran MT-85 Marauder, hopefully.

It has a sensible gun, of 120mm calibre, is heavily armoured, with (From the outside in) NERA plates, Depleted Uranium, Chobham composite, and a 43mm final defence/spall liner.
The 387 tanks, firing Depleted-Uranium Sabot shells, should be able to put up a good fight.
They went in cautiously, supported by combat engineers and artillery, firing their guns and ranges beyond the capabilities of manual optic sights thanks to their equipment.

Battle Report:

15 Republic Of Colstream Army Divisions attacked along a 13 mile sector of the front and smashed 12 enemy divisions and have broken through and hs started to advance towards the Eastern Colstream Capital Hetuarie. Colstream Forces have also linked up to the Antigran and Krapickstan beacheads and are now poised to encircle the divisions which are near the beacheads.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
John Cramer looked wildly around." Oh my god. The Antrigrans do have armour. They look like MT-85 Marauders. This is going to be very savage. Base from Dragon 1, request the T60s with reinforced armour to counterattack the beachead supported by my T54s"." Roger, commence firing at will". John Cramer looked around at his crew, and then at the Eastern Colstream Flag which is the same as the Republic Of Colstream flag but has a hammer and sickle in the left hand corner. "All units advance!". The tanks engines start up and start to roll down the track towards the advancing Antigran Armour.......

Colonel Starkey's Regiment, lead force, Antigran 40th Armoured

Colonel Starkey was inside his tank, on the radio to command.
Suddenly, his gunner, Rabinhoff, yelled.

"Jeez!"

Rabinhoff grabbed a lever and pulled it down, engaging the emergency gunnery sight, before aiming the gun.

Starkey put the mouthpiece down and lokked out of his periscope as Rabinhoff sent a round of Depleted Uranium towards one of the new tanks appearing. Starkey yelled to his driver.

"Johannson! Get us moving fast!"

He responded and floored the accelerator. The huge supercharged engine whined like a jet as the tank hit 45mph, travelling in a line 90 degrees to the Eastern Colstream tank's line of advance. Other commanders did likewise.

Starkey called for artillery support. 15 seconds later, 155mm shells started landing, along with 13 slightly larger shells - twelve 415mm and one 800mm.

Air Cavalry attack helicopters streamed onto the battlefield.
Hundreds of 120mm shells were streaking towards enemy tanks.
The Antigrans definately had an advantage on their side - crazy firepower.

34 B52s appear over the Eastern Capital Hetuarie. Colstream Forces were now only 10 miles from there and the fall of the capital before the end of september seemed certain. "Bombs away", the bombardier of the lead plane reports down his radio. 5 3000lb "Earthquake" bombs leave the B52s bombs bays. They score direct hits on the railway marshalling yards and the main freight terminal destroying several ammunition trains and Army vehicles waiting to be sent to the front.

Meanwhile at the front:

The 10 divisions that had broken through were now encountering only light resistance as they sped down the main road and ajacient fields into Hetuarie.Their commander, General Storm had led these divisions in Thive and had been in the Colstream Army for 25 years and had been commissioned from the ranks. They had just passed a roadblock that had been hit only minutes earlier by MK5 Viper Fighter Bombers carrying 2000lb and Napalm bombs. "Not long now" General Storm whispers to himself...

The mop up of remaining forces had been sucesful, any remaining troops had either been killed, retreated or captured prisoner. To accomadate the increasing numbers of POWs the krapickstan millutary was asking for colstreams government to build facilitys to hold them till the fighting had ended.

All three millitary sections were doing there part to hold off the communist threat:

Krapickstani aircraft would fly in on a regular basis and destroy industrial targets such as munitions depos and other variouse structures that would hold would aid the strategic position.

In order to stop the constant counter attacks the krapickstan ground forces resorted to setting up fire bases in areas that had high comunist activity despite the official regain of this land.

The krapickstani navy held a continued blockade only allowing authourised vessels such as antigrs and variouse merchant ships

thats a negative we are too far out, ground that plane imediatly, our nation will not stand by and let this happen. If that nuke hits the ground then there will be reprocutions.

krapickstani troops stood by and listened to their radios in hope of hearing an order or some news however they were just instructed to sit tight. With the word of a nuke being dropped tensions began to run high against the krapickstani RFI and the colstream forces on the base...

We could not have dropped the Nuke anyway. We had contacted the plane at around 21:00 and they plane is now safely back at base. Fuel problems caused the plane to turn back just after takeoff and the Colstream Government had lost radio contact with the plane. Reports then came in that it had returned to Ashland Military Airbase and the Colstream Army has now advanced in Hetuarie and has started to shell in inner suburbs about 1 mile from the centre of the city. We would like help in mopping up enemy in Gravain as requested before. Our intention was to end the war quickly and an indecision caused that order to be given and the Commanding Officer that gave the order has been relieved of his duties and there will be no more call for use of a nuclear device. We are sorry that any tension was caused between our countries.
