La Presidenta Margriatia Lapiz de San Dante spoke out today about claims that recent discoveries of uranium in the central rainforests have prompted the nation to begin a nuclear program. The following is a translated transcript of her speech.
"We do not believe that, for the continued independence and sovereignty of this nation, a nuclear program is necessary. These weapons of mass destruction are barbaric instruments, especially if used offensively or improperly. We do not believe that there is ever a right time for nuclear force. Our small militia is plenty to keep our nation from any threats that are apparent.
I also do not support mining the uranium for power supply as the San Danten power grid is not currently overstressed. This may change later; however, I hereby declare that the recent discovery of uranium will go untapped. Thank you, God Bless the Republic."
