Rebuilding the Nation

Recon Squadron closes shop

The 142nd Recon Squadron based at Iron Horse AB, in the Canaidia province, that flew RF-4E's, has shutdown. In the latest BRAC 2008 round, their planes are scheduled to go to the 163rd Fighter Group at March AB in the Riverside County, Calitannia Provice. The 163rd currently flies RF-4C's, which is a similar fighter. Their RF-4C's don't have the latest upgrades, whereas the 142nd's do. The 142nd was in the beginning a Blackburn Buccaneer unit, and then it converted to RF-101 Voodoos, then on to the RF-105G, and then it became a fighter unit again in 1977. It converted to F-15A Eagle Jets, which it flew for 25 years.

In 2002, they switched to F-4D Phantom II's, and then in 2004 switched to the venerable RF-4C, and then in 2005 switched to the RF-4E.

Timeframe for full retirement of the F-4 not set in stone:

The Air Force Cheif of Staff Henry Michael, said that the retirement of the F-4 Phantom from the Calizorinstani Air Force would not come anytime soon. "We just bought production rights for the F-4 among the others. We shall upgrade it to the L standard. Currently we have on order 3,500 of them on contract from ARDC for 25 billion USD." His reasoning for ordering what appears to be an archaic fighter is "Well, nothing we have yet is better for Iron Bomb missions, and Wild Weasel missions then the F-4 family. It is still pretty good for recon and other missions too.."

Michael said "We plan to buy production rights for the F-111 too, it is the only thing in our inventory right now that can carry a bunker buster bomb." The oldest F-4 in the C.A.F inventory is a 1964 serial F-4C, which happens to be General John Arnold's private jet. Soon, loads of 2008 serial F-4L's will be coming off of the production line of ARDC's San Diego, and Burbank factories.

The Navy has expressed interest in purchasing 2,000 F-14D Super Tomcats and coverting them to the F-14X standard, which includes AESA radar, HMCS, and a newer engine.

F-14D's retired, rumored to be replaced soon.

The last F-14D in the Calizorinstanian Air Force inventory was flown to Kingman Air Base in the Arizona province yesterday. There is rumored to be a large buy to replace the F-14D's. The F-15's have been gone for over a year, and there is a need to improve upon the F/B-22 Super Raptor. Still the F-4L soldiers on, and there is rumors of a F-4SX, a naval based swing wing variant of the F-4 to fill the gap of the F-14 until navalized F-22's or something comes into service. A F-4SX was caught flying over Mohave Lake, with F-22's flying beside it. The F-22 will be used for the air superiority role, and the FB/22 and the F-35 will replace the F-4L, which will be retired in 2012-14. The F-4SX is seen to fly until 2035 when the NF-X project fighter is scheduled to replace it, and in 2035 will mark the end of the F-4, F-16, B-58EX and the B-52's service in Calizorinstanian Colors.

Elections coming up for President of Calizorinstan President John Arnold's term is nearly up as the 2010 elections are almost here. The current favorite is ex-Marine/Air Force John Macked, who as you may now was President Slovick's Foreign Diplomat to British Londinum and a few other nations 4 years ago.
