Village Nation of New-Sealand Formed

New-Sealand
08-09-2007, 18:47
Official Directive

The people of the village nation of New-Sealand wish to extend a hand into the World. New-Sealand was formerly an abandoned oil rig, left inside of international waters, until a team of thirteen people lead by now Governor Jarod Bates entered the abandoned rig, and claimed it as an independent nation. We currently have a population of 367 people, around 280 of them are adults. We are in the middle of growing, construction is in progress of an addition to the existing platform so we may accommodate more people. There is currently room for only 10 embassies, however after expansion we will have more room. All foreign relations are conducted by Mrs. Elaine Bates. Foreigners may visit New-Sealand. The only way to enter New Sealand is by air, by helipad or STOL landing strip.

We welcome the new nation of New-Sealand to the world stage, you will find it difficult though, with your small size, but we will help guide you around the world stage. We are pleased that another nation has cropped up with so few people, it is amazing how that can happen. We offer the nation of New Sealand an embassy in San Diego, our capital..

Sincerely,

General John Arnold

According to the National Recognization Act passed through parliament, the following things are needed to be a nation:

-A formal declaration of sovereignty
-Recognition by atleast ten existing nations
-A population of atleast one million Homo sapiens
-A functioning economy and currency
-Et cetera, et cetera, ad nauseum

As such, the people living on Airstrip 1 are not a nation-state. Thus, it is open to the first who can plant their existing nation's flag on it. And seeing as how our West Indies fleet is closing in, that would be us.

(Realistically, I'm going to get there before Cali. He's a Pacific guy and would have to gather his forces to go through the Panama Canal first. Meanwhile my West Indies fleet is gathered, and closer to the Channel. So yeah.

Open Declaration:

Let it be known that the polity of New Sealand is hereby placed under the protection of the People's Sovereign Republic of British Londinium and Her Colonies and Overseas Territory. Any nation attempting to forcibly seize its lands will meet the might of the Londinian Navy. The battleships LNV Kensington and LNV Northolt are being dispatched forthwith to reinforce existing Sealandish defences.

Furthermore, I would like to offer New Sealand the lands of our Pirandello colony to serve as a more hospitable home for its citizenry.

Official Zoingonian Declaration

The United States of Zoingo welcomes New-Sealand to the outside world, and finnaly interacting with worlds beyond. We would like to point out however, that almost all of our nations are actually on land, not on an object in the ocean. If possible, one of our overseas territories lies unused: you can inhabit there, and your oil rig can float nearby like a capital or something. If not, we can't force you to come, its your country, but we would like an embassy in your "nation". We also would like to trade with your country to further our diplomatic relations. Also, we will make a donation of five billion Universal Standard Dollars to New-Sealand. Lastly, the Free Empire will give the New-Sealanders some basic material for developing an economy. The libertalian population is no longer small enough to hold meetings of the entire adult population, instead they did use a form of representation where one representative (Libertali slang for those is Honk or Otto, so they will not be too proud of their position) speaks in the name of 50 Libertalis. The question of whether to start diplomatic contact was discussed in the main ship of their fleet (ooc: Libertalien is like the raft from Snow Crash a soveign construct of all kinds of ships, boats, rafts, 'Seelenverkaeufern' etc). There was a general consensus that it would be a good idea and so the following message was sent:

G'day!
Congrats to reaching nationhood! We're similar to your nation: a group of annoyed people who decided to start their own nation where no one would bug them: on the sea! We reach out the hand of friendship to you. We guess it's not quite easy to establish embassies since neither of our facilities has something like overwhelming amounts of space, but we can remain in contact via 'net or maybe throw one of our feared parties near your rig so we can celebrate together.
So long (and thanks for all the fish),
The Honks and Ottos of Libertalien

PS: We somehow assumed from this step that you are a group of punks with strong political beliefs. If you are not, plese excuse the tone of this message.

Most certainly. Actually, I ran on the same ticket as Mr. Preston did as I was his Vice President. However, following popular request I merged my party with the Democrats as we shared similar ideals. No sense in having two parties fighting for the same thing is there? I suppose the voters chose me because they were looking for somebody who was a stronger force for their interests internationally. It was quite a close race between myself and Mr. Quinlan, the Democrats' original candidate. He didn't completely lose though; I made him my Vice President. I remember seeing on LBG Evening News that your nation has also had a change. I don't know much about Ms. Davidson, but her father and my predecessor were on good terms toward the end. Hopefully we can be on better terms than our predecessors. To that end, I'd like to arrange a state visit. To whom should I inquire?"

"Ah, well I shall get on that as soon as I get back to Hudson. I once vacationed to Kensington, this was long before I was in politics of course. Unfortunately, it wasn't as nice as I had hoped. You see, Mr. Swanner was in office then and the populace seemed extremely tense. I understand why now but at the time I had little idea of the full extent of Swanner's crimes. I'm sure my next visit will be much better. But, all this conversation aside, I don't think it's wise to remain outside for long, I do believe a storm is coming. Shall I escort you inside?"

He chuckled under his breath, before speaking up, "Mr. Bates, I'll be frank, the Vantanians want something of you, and can benifit you much in return. We want to purchase the oil rig, and in return we'll give you protection, ten dried oil rigs, fifty billion Universal Standard Dollars, an economic boost, and of course, free travel into your homeland. Jai Hyit, another one of the Hyits whom had become ambassadors, has unhappy at the Londii-Cazelian argument. The Londii had always pissed him off even before the One Hour War. Cazelia was an ally to the Confederate States, and Jai was even more adamant about that than most as he had fallen in love with a Kal'Har evacuated to TFEI during the biocide.

He was about to speak to the Sealander president, when a slanderous comment about the Cazelians passed through the Londii's lips. "Why in God's, Allah's, or for at least logic's sake can't you people get along?!"
