The High Empire of Thrashia

Founded in the mists of distant legend, the kingdom of the High Empire was founded by the god-like figure Asmond Thrash the Great, a warrior-king who united the tribes of Men around him and fought off the vicious, dark hordes of Orcs, Lyzirds, and Minotaur. To his aid came the brilliant armies of the ancient and powerful Elvin Lords of Niva and Hensis, their bright spear tips and shining shields marching in a great host to Asmond’s side. Not only Elf helped Man in his time of need. Far from the reaches of the North-East in the dark recesses of the great mountains marched the short and powerful Dwarves. The High King of the Dwarves march forth from his deep, rich halls with an army to match any in power and ferocity. United thus under this common cause, the three races of Light were led forth into battle, Asmond the Great at their head.

The battle was a bitter fought one, with magic missiles of fiery complexion flying like hellions through the air, the sound of metal clashing upon metal, and the cry of the wounded and dying echoing across the land. However with the blessing of Ariel, Asmond strode forth and laid low the mighty Orc Warboss and Minotaur King. Lord Ellios of the Elves took the pleasure of skewering the Lyzird Shaman Zyle upon his magic imbued lance. With the death of their leaders and the greatest of their warriors, the dark enemy broke and fled. The victory was won, but the cost was high. The dark creatures were driven south beyond the mountains and Men lay claim to their lands.

Out of the chaos that ensued Asmond forged together the leaders of the tribes of Men into a council, giving each the title of Count. Asmond ruled for 40 years after the battle and with his longevity the land he ruled was given its rulers own name: the Empire of Thrashia.

After Asmond’s death, the Counts of the realm gathered in the capital city of Phyros to decide how to continue the Empire. Asmond had died without a son to carry on his name or power, though the priests were quick to name Asmond a god and prophesied his return. In order to have a new ruler quickly, the Counts elected one of their number; and so it came to be that the title of Elector Count came into being. There were 13 Elector Counts, with the 13th being also named Emperor of Thrashia.

Provinces/Lands of the Elector Counts

Each member of the Elector Counts holds lands that were once granted to his ancestor by the great Asmond himself long ago. The provinces vary from one to the other in their physical attributes and the culture of each people within it, for each is the descendant of an ancient tribe of men. In all, there are 13 provinces named for their capitals:

Thasos
Chryda
Tenera
Sydn Hivalos
Cernyx
Allista
Psina
Telanin
Ean Dosen
Salevan
Espada
Teuren

And the present capital of the Empire and home of the Emperor: Phyros.

Of Elves and Dwarves

The Elves still dwell where they have for millennia, beyond the remembrance of all, except perhaps the Dwarves. Legends say that they were once immortal gods themselves, but were cast out of the heavens and made mortals because of some cataclysmic event they caused. Regardless of how they came about the Elves are power and numerous, though not as much as men. Their lords hold sway over the inner sea in the South, between the mountains and south of Mt. Selenia. The two great Elvin cities of Niva and Hensis exist here.

Niva is famous for its ship building, its mariners the best in the world, and a rich trading port. It is ruled by Lord Daedros, a powerful wizard of some repute. It is most thanks to Daedros that the Empire of Thrashia has a College of Wizards by which they train battle mages.

Hensis and the giant delta that surrounds it, is the most fertile and bountiful land in the world. It is the envy of Man and Dwarf alike, that the Elves posses such a place. Its beauty is beyond compare, and in over three hundred years, not one enemy has set foot upon its soil, for such do the Elves treasure it. Hensis is the bread basket for the Elven Kingdom and does a great amount of trade in spices and other exotic crops with the lands of Men, mostly through Niva or over-land routes.

The Dwarves are hardly seen these days, though a great many can be found in Ean Dosen where they keep a large merchant house open for trade. Friendlier with Dwarves than Elves, Men have blossomed thanks to the guidance and help of the Dwarves. From them Man learned the skill of iron shaping and the ways of mining. The Order of the Imperial Knights, a knightly order that guards the Emperor himself, has their armor made from dwarf forged steel. It is a legend amongst the peoples that nothing but the strongest enemy could pierce dwarf-made armour or a dwarf-made sword break.

Of Orcs, Minotaur, and Lyzirds

Orcs have forever since time immemorial been the enemy of Man, Elves, and Dwarves. Their race, unlike the lesser in stature Lyzirds and simpler minded Minotaur, is more industrious and creates its own small cities. Its army-like hordes a danger to the lands of any free people. Thus far in recent times the tribes of the Orcs have not united in a large horde as they did in ancient times, though several great warbosses exist and constantly war against one another.

The Minotaur exist in packs, or herds, and travel like nomads through the lands of the Empire and of Elves. Killed without mercy by the free peoples on sight, for to let them run rampant and unchecked would risk the destruction of your land. Though not united in a cohesive force or tribe-like manner as the Orcs are, the Minotaur are far more numerous and wide-spread; more akin to an ever growing disease.

The Lyzirds are a clever race. Small in stature but great in mind, the Lyzirds have put their knowledge and evil thought to clever use, stealing away the knowledge of magic from the Elves in ancient times. Of the evil races the Lyzirds are most renown for their shamans and mages, though they do have warriors. Long in ancient past the Lyzirds and Orcs joined in a blood-linked alliance, and have been as such forever.

The Orcs and Lyzird kingdoms exist in the peninsula west of the Pirate City of Selene and south of the province of Thasos, living in the stolen dwarf halls within the mountains itself and upon the coasts, creating corsairs and the like.
