The Invasion of the Greek Kingdom [EC - Attn. Zukariaa]

Belgrade, March 1st

A light snow fell in the crowded streets of Belgrade, as thousands upon thousands of eager civilians had crammed themselves into the city square in order to hear their beloved leader speak to them on an issue of 'National Urgency'. Ever since the end of the revolution over four years ago the people had become enfatuated with Grand Marshall Arkan, a seemingly immortal man who threw off the tyranny of royalty and theocracy, and set down the standards of reason and law. Although countless thousands had been brutally murdered under his purges of the royalty, the people simply cheered him on as he took further control of the nation.

Arkan stood at the head of a massive marble podium before the Capital Building, it's massive stone pillars and steps casting a shadow of intimidation over the entire assembly. Looking down at his feet, at the cold white breath leaving his mouth, at the snow that now littered his black leather trench coat, he smiled...

"My People... Sons and Daughters of Kroando... for many years we have been a broken nation. Exploited... oppressed, and conquored by those we sought to escape!", Arkan spoke, the attention of every soul keen upon him. "Four years ago I asked for time... and that time was granted by you. You, the strength in my arm... the holders of my dreams.", Arkan paused yet again, looking over the massive assembly of soldiers before him. Thousands upon thousands of soldiers clad in black uniforms, rifles mounted upon their shoulders. "In the time you have given me... I have rebuilt our nation. I have rebuilt our strength. And, I have rebuilt our pride! No more shall the tyranny of royalty or theocracy burden your minds. No more shall the weight of imperialism pull down your backs. No more shall we, the people of Kroando be the ones under the boot of hegemony!", Arkan roared out, by this time the hordes of civilians behind the soldiers were hysterical, their rabid support for the Grand Marshall not restrained by the impecable discipline of the military. "Defenders of the Kroandon Dream! NOW - IS - OUR - TIME!" Arkan smiled at the scene before him, the Kroandon flags waving, the patriotism at an all time high, the nation as a whole ready to take the lands of the Greeks.

Announcement to the World - Explaining Mobilization March 2nd

Kenya is to fall to the boot of Kroando. This colonial aquisition shall cement forever our place in the African Pie. We expect heavy campaigning and resistance, and seek the best wishes of the European Continent. The Armies shall be leaving from Vlore and from Ports in Bulgaria.

The War Would Begin in Turkey - Early March

Two million people held ten million. The colony of Turkey was far larger than the oppressors it was currently under, the small Kingdom of Greece. It would not only be the men of Kroando marching against the Greeks, it would be the Turks. However the question was how to get the Turks to revolt. Propoganda, supplying the rebels and the war in general was the answer. Intelligence reported nearly 100,000 men in all Anatolia. If Kroando sent that same number at Constantinople, victory was certain. The Greeks could not afford to send their entire Anatolian force, or even most of it to the city, or the entire territory would revolt. What did this mean? It means that the Kroandons would conquer European Turkey, and Constantinople with relative ease... cutting the enemy in half, and effectively destroying any chance the Anatolian Army had of retaining Anatolia.

In early March spies, sabatauers and negotiators left for Turkey with one mission. To start building the means for a revolution. To start spreading unrest. To start putting up flyers denouncing the Greek Tyranny. To start making the masses see their disfortune as the fault of the Greeks. Guns were purchased with the pockets of Kroando, and secretly distributed to many of these would be revolutionaries. Money was given to those whom seemed to be of the revolutionary persuasion. In general, the Kroandons set up a powder keg in Anatolia.

The 1st Army, stationed in Central Bulgaria, went along with Arkan's plan, begining by moving to the East, towards the 'Ports' which hosted the fleet to take them to Africa. However they suddenly made a sharp move to the south. Burgas, the port they were supposedly moving to, was stopped at, for no more than a fortnight. They rested, for the next morning, at 5:00 AM, they were on the move. It was only now that the soldiers were told their actual target, they were told they marched for Turkey, and to overthrow the Kingdom of Greece. Complete secrecy had, untill this point, been maintained. The soldiers were estatic, their hatred for royalty being uncomparable to that of anything else. Seeing the Greeks and Turks as an oppressed people, much like they had once been, they moved with all haste, covering fifty miles by the night. Their presence was hidden the best it could be, the people that saw them were Kroandons, and it was unlikely that word of their deviation would reach the Greeks for some time. By that night they had reached the Greek-Kroandon border at Edime, and the 90,000 man force was to take it by storm.

The 3rd Army acted similarly, initially moving to the West, towards Vlore. However again, they changed route quickly, and made haste for the south. Covering the distance between themselves and the Greek Border in less than a day and a half, they moved for the city of Igomenitsa, expecting little in the means of resistance. The mountainous region was perfect for these men, nicknamed 'The Mountaineers' for their dedication to fighting in the hills and mountains. The war had begun.

Finally both the Adriatic Fleet and the Black Fleet's were put into action, with one moving to the coast of Northern Greece, the other towards Constantinople. They remained far enough north of the great city so that any defences would not be able to hit them, but so that they could see the straight, and could fire upon any vessels hoping to move through.

Athens

The Greek commander was told about the invasion from the north.
"How many are coming?",asked Commander Alen.
"We esitmate 100,000 here, and 90,000 in the north."said the aide.
We can't hold off that many!throught the commander. Only his 7th Army was effective, and there were only 50,000 Greeks in the 7th army.
"Tell General Pelpos to send his 7th army north."said Commander Alen
"yes commander. There is a navy coming too."the aide said.
"Now that can be handled easily, send the naval fleet to block their route, so they will have to go through the fleet."said the commander happily. "And send the 5th Greek army in Turkey to block them enemy's path also."
The aide walked away shouting orders.

Northern Greece

The 7th Greek army was moving toward the enemy, but they were outnumbered, so they decided to let the enemy come at them.

[Since Zukarria dropped his claims, I am only attacking Greece, not Turkey. I assume you're 'let the enemy come', was permission for me to set up the field?]

Northern Greece

The 7th Army was within arms reach... but a charge away and Greece would fall to Kroando. Menchevik could hardly restrain himself as he surveyed his massive army, the thousands of men awaiting his order to advance. The Greeks, according to his scouts, were simply waiting across the hills amongst the rugged terrain... a concerted assault would surely break them. But an assault without artillery support was simply... non-Kroandon.

250 90mm Guns and 400 75mm Guns were all pointed into a trajectory line of fire, pointing so that their rounds would fall amongst the enemy position. They were aiming off of the reports of scouts, so their accuracy would be marginal, but with near 700 guns firing shells a distance of 3 kilometers... casualties would be grand. And so the bombardment began, with over 1,400 shells landing in five minutes... the infantry was then ordered forward. Not a blind charge, but a steady advance under the cover of the artillery fire. 60,000 men were sent forward, directly at the Greek Lines.

[Shitty post but... eh.]

The Greeks were unmoved by the assault, so the Greeks picked up their rifles and fired directly into the charging Kroandon army, the Kroandon managed to destory some of the Greek army's units, so the Greeks fired back with their 200 90mm guns, the Bigger gns also fired some canster.. Word came to the battlefield that the Greek 8th army was on its way, but the Greek 8th army only had 40,000 men, but they were tough.

[Woops, forgot about this. As to the 8th Army... it takes a long time to mobilize and move armies... by the time the 8th got to the North... the battle would have been raging for days, and would thus be ending.]

Front Lines - 12 Hours

After twelve hours of advancing, lines had established themselves, with the Greeks no more than twenty yards away in some areas. The lines were makeshift, behind hills and trees and other natural obstacles, thousands of Kroandon soldiers, clad in black military uniforms, continued to fire upon the Greeks. Far outnumbering their opponents, the 60,000 men sent in the initial advance lined up opposite their Greco Counter Parts. Even as the Greek Artillery began firing the Kroandon's took comfort in knowing that the enemy artillery, like their own, was obviously not perfect, and was unable to achieve the concentration needed to drive back their assault. Even though the Kroandon Front Lines outnumbered and outgunned their opponents, an additional 10,000 men were sent forward to bolster the attack.

The artillery bombardment continued, outnumbering the enemy batteries, the expected to wear down the enemy rather quickly.

Flanking Manuver - To the East

20,000 Men were sent to the east, approximatly two miles to the east of the eastern most Greek Forces. They then moved south, and came up upon the Greek's Left Flank. With 20,000 men on the left flank alone, along with heavy artillery fire on this area, the advance expected to roll their line, and force them into a retreat.

The Greek army was forced back a little by the flanks and the Batteries were reinforced by some guns from a fort a couple of miles away. But the Greek army could not hold off for long. Then the Greek 8th army had arrived at the easteren side of the battlefield, so the Greek 7th army retreated under cover from the Greek 8th army. Some guns were left behind in the retreat. The greek 8th army was on the massive hill with the 7th army retreating around them.

[I dont know how another army managed to mobilize and traverse the country in a day... but fine...]

Battle Region

With the 7th Army in full retreat, and over 20,000 Kroandon Soldiers in hot pursuit, the remainder of the Kroandon Force stopped, and surrounded the enemy position. 70,000 around 40,000. The Kroandon Artillery batteries had a field day, blasting away at the hill. Trench lines were dug at the base, preventing the Greek's on the hill from escaping... they were trapped in all senses of the word. Sure, they would be able to hold out for a while... but what when they started running out of bullets? What when they got hungry, or needed water? They would starve out the enemy, and wait.

And what if the Greeks decided to come down the mountain? Well, they would be greated by trench lines, rifles, bayonets, artillery pieces and horridly scarred terrain. As to the retreating 7th Army, the Kroandon Force of but 20,000 could not be counted by the retreating Greeks. For all they knew there were 100,000 after them... thus reforming and attacking would be near immpossible.

OOC; the Greek 8th army was stationed in the Nroth also, but I didn't see the point of putting it into action until the last moment, and the whol hilll can't be surrounded because the 7th army was driven behind it.

Athens

"Sir, the 7th army needs reinforements up north."said a messenger
"I already sent the 8th army."said the commander.
The messenger was quiet for a moment then..
"Well, it appears that the Krondanon force is bigger then we throught."said the messenger.
"Okay, I'll order the western army up there, at least they have large numbers."said the commander
It was true, the Western 5th army had 60,000 men, the largest of all Greek armies.

[For a nation of Greece's size, a standing army of 150,000 is pretty big. Maybe after weeks of recruitment and mobilization, but to have these huge armies just sitting around... it would collapse the Greek Economy... and there is no way these armies are all just sitting around the same area I just happened to attack... this next one has to be days away, they couldn't possibly just pop up and save the day.]

Military Movements

The First Army continued it's progression into North Eastern Greece, while the Third Army held down the Greek 7th and 8th Armies in the West.

OOC: Most of the army was just recuirted in the last few days after the war began, the only really trained arm was the eastern army, which had 31,000 men.

Eastern Greece

the eastern greek army could really do nothing againstn the great Krondanon army, the Greeks had called for reinforcements, but the only army left availble was the Athenian gaurd. So they had to fight, for the next few days the Greek Eastern army got a few thousand more men, but theyrecently joined the army, so the army decided to move to a massive Fort that stood in the way of the Enemy.

The Fort

The Defenders numbered only 500 until the massive Greek eastern army arrived, they had enough food for months, the only worry was numbers of men. The rifles the Greek army had were recently bought from America, months before this war started.

[We need to clarify time in our posts, I was under the impression it was still day 1.]

Eastern Greco Fort

The first army, realizing the enemy had merely taken up defensive positions, decided to hunker down and prepare for an extended bombardment. The 250 90mm Guns, and 300 75mm guns were wheeled up along a long trench line, facing the massive defensive complex. Artillery shells were piled high, and late in the night, it began. 550 guns began shelling the enemy defenses, not only breaking apart the enemy physically, but mentally. Keeping them awake all through the night, exhausted, tired... shell after shell was fired untill 5:00 AM. Sunrise. On the east, with the sun at their backs, 30,000 of Kroando's finest began moving on the Eastern defenses. The men they were attacking were sleep deprived, worn down by artillery, and firing into the sun... ergo, would not be very worthy opponents.

Eastern Greek Fort

The greeks may be outnumbered, may be sleep deprevied (Some of them slept.), but the Greeks were tough, the Fort's 400 guns of all sizes fired at the advancing enemy, some of the guns also targeted the enemy cannons. The greeks armed with baynoets and rifles, fired into the enemy formations. A request for reinforcements only brought another fresh battalion to the fort.

Athens

The City rallied under the commander's command, many people donated money or food to the army (The Greeks had lots of food.) The weapons slowly arrived from America and other nations, but they were due to arrive soon, due to the clear weather.
