Marle's Adventures

It felt like only yesterday that Marle had lost her mother to death. Now she was an orphan in the world. No one but her self. She of course could always get married, she was old enough to match the adge of most Kuronan girls that get married. But the spirit of adventure called to her. Before she knew it she took the waters of Xanadou in her small boat. The weather was fair for the day but as night came around the seas were growing rougher.

Log, less than 24 hours out to sea and it looks like I may be hitting my first storm. Marles thought's were interupted by the sound of thunder and flash of lighting. Marle instantly went above deck. She never was the type to wear any kind of rain gear, just her dress and her self against the elements. Waves crashed upon her could she survive this terrible storm?

The storm had passed but the boat was left scared and damaged. With no way for Marle to fix it. She could do nothing but drift and wait.

In the wake of a terrible storm, a white schooner cut through the now calm waters. Some of the rigging was damaged in the violent storm but managed to escape more or less intact. The name Monte Cristo placard the one side of this sea worthy vessel as it traversed the ocean. A lone man came up top to survey the damage, barefoot with a white shirt and shorts on. His face was rather rough, handsome features, and piercing blue eyes. This man darted from aft to stern, checking pullies, lines, and jobs to ensure they were sound. He cussed upon seeing a small tear in the one sail. The tear would only grow with the violence of the winds. He sat down and looked out across the blue landscape and the light blue skies. He squinted and brought a hand above his brow as he gazed skyward and brought his attention back to the ocean and saw something off in the distance. A piece of driftwood? The man drew out a scope and saw a battered raft drifting in the water. It's a small raft...with a person onboard! He took the helm and swung it starboard and creased the sheets in a desperate attempt to reach the survivor on the raft. After sailing for a few minutes he slowed and came up alongside the craft to see a young woman, soaked and seemingly lost. He threw a rope across the bow and onto the raft.
"Are you alright?!" He called out as the rope hit the raft, tangled on a piece jutting from it. "I'll pull alongside, just hold on!" he yelled as he ran bellow deck to retrieve a bottle of water, a blanket, and a first-aide kit.

"Hello!" Marle called out. "My ship has been damaged, and I have no way to move anywhere, will you give me a hand?

The young man returned to the top and looped an arm around a railing and perched himself over the side, mindful of the still cold water. His hand shot out, shaking as he tried to steady himself.
"Grab my hand!" he strained, feeling the two craft part ways farther and farther.

Marle complied, out stretching her hand, she was helped aboard. "Thanks, that storm last night really was a bad one."

He swung the woman over and helped her aboard. He laughed slightly, awkwardly searching for something of substance to say, over two weeks passed since he last spoke to another human being.
"Indeed, I feared that the sails would rip right off." he replied "How did you survive in such a small craft?" sensing his rudness he straightened up and said "My apologies, I am Gerard Ferro, what may I ask is your name?"

OOC: Is there room for anyone else in this?

(Yeah sure)

"My name is Marle. I'm a really experienced sailor, but still the sea can get the best of me. Kuronan boats are hardier than one might imagine."

Gerard looked over he shoulder and observed the "sea worthy" craft which she captained. To him it was unimpressive but he admired the strength and resolve to face such a storm and survive. He picked up the wool blanket.
"You must be freezing, take this" Gerard offered the blanket and a bottle of water. "There si some food if you are hungry, Marle"

OOC: I posted twice but a message saying that the messages will appear once the moderator approves them, what does that mean? Anyways, if they don't show, my character asked why Marle was in such a small craft, alone and so far away.

THe mods do that a lot. Mostly to new users. I don't know why, it's just in the forum code, I guess. They'll be automatically approved in a few minutes and then show up.

One way is to go to some of the other forums and work up to your 10 post quota. The Spam Forum is a good place to start

(OOC: Right. I've got an idea I'd like to put forward, if your interested, though it needs Vallera permission as well as yours.

Basically, I've got a small FAC going round looking for a smuggler/pirate/mercenary/whatever. Vallera's ship could be, or look like the said criminal. Or similar. What do you say? Marle and her new found friend would escape, of course. Maybe even take out the ships, thought that would be difficult.)

Geoffrey and Marina had been sailing in the Prospero for about a year now. They had been in a race in Aqua Anu about a year ago, and when it ended they just hadn't wanted to go home.

At first they thought the Emperor would be very angry for stealing such a fine vessel form the government. Now, he was in exile and it didn't matter anymore. The two of them flew their own flag, and the Prospero was their home.

Geoffrey walked on to the deck

"One heck of a storm." he thought

Marina appeared from below now she looked at the sea, now fairly calm. She looked out to ahead of them

“What’s that up ahead?” she asked

“Just couple of ships.”

“Yeah, but their just sitting there.”

“Let’s check it out”

They moved the Prospero to over where the two ships were sitiuated

“AHOY!” yelled out Geoffrey

"What brings you out to sea in such a condition?" Gerard asked as he moved about the deck, collecting his thoughts, desperate to explain such an occurance. It was a miracle she survived.

"Ahoy!" Marle called waving. "Oh just needed some time to my self. I hadn't anticipated into runing into such a violent storm so quickly. I mean Xanadou is notorious for them, but wow...Even I was swept away by that."

Time to myself...that pretty much summed up Gerard's reasons for setting sail, away from the reporters, journalists, and the prying eyes of the public. To get away from civilization and clear his mind. She was correct about the storm, he admitted and chuckled.
"Yeah, I just needed to get away too. Though I wasn't expecting to run into a storm like that either. I hoped it would be smooth sailing." Gerard said "Well, at least it made things more interesting."

"That is true. I'm strange I find storms exciting and frighting at the same time. I love sailing, I love the challange of sailing and a storm is just another challange."

Marina positioned the Prospero up to the ship, Geoffrey was on the bow where he saw a man and a woman talking

When he was close enough he said "Ciaelo, richiedete l'assistensa?"

Realizing his mistake then said

"Sorry slip of the tongue, do you guys need any help?"

Gerard smiled, it was an admirable quality of hers. It showed an independent spirit. The ocean offered him a tranquil escape from the hustle of civilization.
"Very inetersting, Marle. Well, is there any specific place you were going to or wanted to go?" he asked as he manned the helm as another ship drew near.

At that moment Gerad busted into a spout of laughter, it was a quite ironic moment.
"I am actually not sailing anywhere important either" Gerard admitted "You see, I'm a writer from Vallera. The writing world became too confining and suffocating for me to want to stay. Also, I seem to be suffering from writer's block and I thought that perhaps this voyage away from civilization might set my mind clear and help me find what I lost" Gerard raised his hands, shrugging.

"Yeah, getting away from everything can kinda clear up your mind can't it?" replied Geoffrey

By the way my name is Geoffrey, and this is Marina." he pointed to the young woman who had just joined when th boat was secured.

"We're really just sailing around as well, about a year ago we were in a boat our for our country, Cookborough, and then before it was over they got rid of the Constitutional Monarchy and set up a Federal Republic. We just didn't really want to go back. So we've been sailing around the world and just recently ended up in Xanadou." said Marina

Marle looked at the blue sky. "Tell me about it, my poor boat couldn't survive. Fortunatley I did. Well welcome to the region. And hey I know how that is, there are just times when I want to get away from the chaose of life and just be in a place where I'm at peace."
