The Republic of Iceland
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/FoxWally/IcelandFlag.jpg

The Republic of Iceland is a small democratic island nation southeast of Greenland. It sits high in the North Atlantic between North America and Europe. Despite their relative size in regards to other nations of the world, Iceland is one of the richest countries to date. Its economy, driven hard by fishing and recently a boom in the industrial sector, is on par with the world’s top nations. As a result technological advance is skyrocketing in nearly every aspect of life which consequently improves upon the nation’s economy. Iceland, noted for being one of the world’s most naturally beautiful countries, has began to harness both the geo and hydro thermal power found abundant on the island to fuel its economy. As a result the Republic has given rise to a number of major international companies which will be discussed later in this fact book.

Colonial Tunisia or Tunisia for short
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/FoxWally/TunisiaFlag.jpg

Colonial Tunisia is a colony of the Republic of Iceland. Tunisia is located strategically in Northern Africa, bordering the Mediterranean Sea. Its location makes it a prime destination for merchants and has subsequently made Tunisia one of the richest and most diverse states in Africa. Though merely a ‘colony’ of Iceland, Iceland’s actual rule is hardly totalitarian. Most national matters are handled not by Iceland but by people elected officials from Tunisia. However all military aspects of Tunisia are controlled by Icelandic rule. Trade, though incredibly important to Iceland’s livelihood, is dealt with equally between both Iceland and Tunisia. This has kept the relation between the two lands surprisingly strong as Iceland has yet to provoke an independence movement. This is helped also by two different factors. One, being obvious, is that both States are prospering both economically and technologically. Tunisia, under the direction of Icelandic funs, has seen exponential growth to its infrastructure. The second is the way the military is run. Iceland itself has no standing army. What it does have is a colonial army which is ethnically diversified. Officers can be of Icelandic or Tunisian decent, and many high ranking military leaders are indeed Tunisian. Furthermore the Colonial Army of Tunisia is more a defensive force and thus these forces are rarely on active duty.

The Armed Forces of Iceland

Army:
Due to the small size regarding both land area and population Iceland has no standing army. The Home Guard, consisting of various militias around the Island, however, are both highly trained and highly equipped. If Iceland was to come under direct threat the Guard would be mobilized under a central command and used as a Defense Force utilizing the best equipment money can buy.

Navy:
Unlike the Icelandic Army, Iceland does field a surprisingly formidable navy. The traditions of the Icelandic Navy date back to Viking and various Nordic traditions. As an Island nation a navy is paramount to the Island’s defense. The Naval Forces of Iceland are among the world’s best and most able vessels. Utilizing the most modern of naval technology along with an economy built for constructing naval craft, the Icelandic Navy is second to none.

Artillery Corps:
Iron welding and steel production, being among Iceland’s top industries, has fielded excellent artillery pieces. The quality of both gun and shell are world renowned. However, since there is no standing army most of these guns are shipped to the Colonial Tunisian Army (after the Home Guard is accounted for of course!)

[Actual Force Breakdown including numbers and names to come at a later date]

The Colonial Tunisian Armed Forces

Army:
Including one of the first ethnically integrated armies in the world, the CTA is home to some of the most competent and loyal soldiers in the world. Equality and nationalism are instilled from the outset driving these diverse soldiers that extra yard. With no standing Icelandic Army, funds are thus diverted (not on the same scale if there actually was an Icelandic Army) to the Tunisian Army. This funding, along with funding from the Tunisian government, makes the CTA one of the best funded African armies as well. Though all top-ranking leadership roles are filled by Icelanders there is no rule or law against having native Tunisian’s in such roles and a number of Tunisians’ are in fact very high up in the leadership category. However only native Icelanders or Tunisians’ can hold high ranking military positions.

Navy:
Unlike their Icelandic counterpart the navy is not the primary if only focus of the military. In fact unlike the Icelandic navy which is focused around fleets, the Tunisian navy aims more at merchant defense. Since the major income of Tunisia is from international trading from the Mediterranean, it is vital that trade routes be kept clear. Tunisian naval vessels are in general smaller and much quicker in order to patrol more ground. The bigger and more powerful units are used to keep various ports and major sea lanes open. In fleet action the navy would likely be woefully outmatched.

Artillery Corps:
The indigenous artillery designs are on par with most African and European designs. With extensive funding they are usually well equipped and highly effective. However, the TAC receive massive amounts of artillery pieces from Iceland, a leader in Artillery production, and thus make the TAC one of the best in Africa if not the world.

Recently under the leadership of forward thinking Eiríkur Eyvindur, the younger of the two, Roger – Eyvindur has been tinkering with a new engine that would be fitted onto an aero plane, a futuristic flying machine. However Eyvindur has personally said that both the engine and the craft are far, far off.

Headquarters: Reykjavik, Iceland
President(s): Jóhann Páll

The Reykjavik Iron Works is a new Arms producing company based out of Iceland’s capital. Its president is a young entrepreneur Jóhann Páll. His youthful and progressive ideas can be felt as soon as you walk into the facility. Pall strives to keep on the forefront of military technology so that his rifles can be better suited to handle themselves in the field. Using materials sent in from Tunisia and utilizing the abundant geo and hydrothermal power on the Island he is able to create intricate and yet wonderfully simply artillery pieces.

Reykjavik Model 95
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/FoxWally/ReyModel95.jpg
Weight: 8.7 lb
Length: 50 inches
Cartridge: 7.92x57mm cartridge
Caliber: 7.92 mm
Action Bolt-action
Rate of fire: 15 rounds/minute
Muzzle velocity: 2,650 ft/second
Effective range: 1,100 yards
Maximum range: 1,900 yards
Feed System: 5 round magazine, internal clip
Price:
Large Scale Order [Econ 4, Mil 4]
Small Scale Order [Econ 3, Mil 4]

The Model 95 is the main rifle of all Icelandic forces on the Ground, including Colonial Tunisia. The rifle ranks among the world’s finest rifles forged over the geo and hydro thermal power found abundant in Iceland. The rifle uses metals exported from Tunisia. The rifle features a smokeless 7.92x57mm cartridge which is lighter and pointed making not only more effective but also improves ballistic coefficient. This new caliber bullet has already won the hearts of most Icelandic and Tunisian infantrymen as it packs knockdown power while not sacrificing range or accuracy. The Rey 95 (for short terminology) cocked the striker on the closing stroke of the bolt, making the initial opening much faster and easier compared to the cock on opening. Though this would usually increase the rate of fire past 15 rounds per minute, the Rey 95 only has a five round clip which limits its rate of fire. There was much debate whether to use a straight pull bolt action which was faster but such a device would compromise simplicity and thus decrease reliability. The main advantage is the guns durability. The steel formed using hydrothermal power, and at times, even geothermal power proved stronger than steel produced at conventional factories. American wood such as walnut is imported to help increase the durability. Draw backs are few but worth mentioning. The rifle is relatively long and on the heavier side making it slightly unwieldy at times. Also the cartridge size is rare among other nations and as to be expected the quality of this rifle comes with a price.

Reykjavik Model 95 Carbine
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/FoxWally/ReyModel95Carbine.jpg
Weight: 7.5 lb
Length: 39.6 inches
Cartridge: 7.92x57 mm
Caliber: 7.92 mm
Action Bolt-action
Rate of fire: 15 rounds/minute
Muzzle velocity: 2,500 feet/ second
Effective range: 600 yards
Maximum range: 850 yards
Feed System: 5 round magazine. Internal clip
Price:
Large Scale Order [Econ 3, Mil 4]
Small Scale Order [Econ 3, Mil 3]

The Rey 95C or Carbine version of the Model 95 is an infantrymen’s delight and is being considered as a replacement altogether for the Model 95. The rifle is shorter and consequently much lighter than its original version. Though this decreases the effective and maximum range of the rifle, by utilizing the same round it makes this weapon dead accurate. Also a new sight system is utilized. The rear sight is an adjustable cross iron cross hair that is aligned with the front sight which features an iron tip with a mounted ball on the top. If adjusted to the correct distance and aligned correctly the sight has been known to increase accuracy nearly 30-40 %. The drawback is that great care must be given to maintain the cross hairs, if they were to break it would actually decrease accuracy as it would eliminate the rear sight altogether. This is a common problem as the sights have a tough time withstanding even normal battlefield conditions often clogging with dirt, rusting, and breaking off. As it were most soldiers’ not good marksmen personally remove the sight and replace it with a surplus Model 95. The durability remains at high standards.

Aðalsteinn
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/FoxWally/Aalsteinn.jpg
Weight: 10.5 lb
Length: 58.3 inches
Cartridge: 7.92x57mm cartridge
Caliber: 7.92 mm
Action Bolt-action
Rate of fire: 10 rounds/minute
Muzzle velocity: 2,950 feet/ second
Effective range: 1,400 yards
Maximum range: 2,000 + yards
Feed System: 5 round magazine. Box clip
Price:
Large Scale Order [Econ 5, Mil 5]
Small Scale Order [Econ 4, Mil 4]

The Aðalsteinn is not for the faint of heart nor large scale use by an army. Its sheer size and weight make it very cumbersome and inconvenient for conventional warfare. It also suffers a slow rate of fire due to the recoil and time it takes to reload (made slightly longer due to size). Unlike the other Reykjavik Iron Works models this also features a box clip instead of an internal clip. However the size also gives this rifle tremendous range and power. Snipers love the weapon for its pin-point accuracy within 500 upwards to 700 yards and, it still remains effective up to 1,100 yards. It is also a hunter or game shooters dream for its unrivaled stopping power even at extended ranges. RIW rifles are known for their durability and despite the size of this rifle the same remains true.
