Shenyangi Diplomatic Policy Shift (Embassies Welcome)

Shenyang
04-09-2007, 21:34
Shenyang has, since the revolution in the 1970's historically pursued a one-sided diplomatic strategy. This methodology was best described as 'Don't come to us, we'll come to you.' Even with close allies we have kept a safe distance, jus far enough so we could 'Pull a gun and shoot first.'

However, in a stunning reversal, Shenyangi High Council Chairman Alexander Murdock made an address today outlining a new diplomatic policy.

"We have long lived a cloistered existance here in Shenyang. We send ambassadors to other nations, but we never allow them onto our soil. It is time for this to change. As of today Shenyang will pursue true diplomatic relations with the nations of the world. We welcome the nations of the world to establish embassies in the Shenyangi capital city of Randova."

We ask that any nation feeling the need to provide security forces, which we entirely understand, please inform us of the numbers to be sent. We suggest that embassies do have some form of security force, as Shenyang is unfortunately the target of many terrorist organizations. While few indigenous terrorist groups would have reason to attack foreign embassies, it is still better to be safe than sorry. Shenyang is willing to provide security to any nation that cannot provide their own forces, if so desired.

Mereshka would like to send an emmisary, if that would be agreeable with the government of Shenyang. The man we are sending is known as Alehkra, and he is part of the Wolfbrother Clan. He will be bringing along 20 of his clansmen.

This is entirely acceptable. We eagerly await the arrival of Emmisary Alekhra. An embassy complex is being prepared for them as we speak.

We give our thanks, the emmissary will be dispatched immeadietly.

OOC: When should I have him arrive?
Shenyang

OOC: Any time you want, I'll be MIA for about 3 hours in a bit, so its either now or much later.

OOC: Now works, I may be getting off soon anyways.
IC: Alehkra looked around at the Shenyangi(Shanyengai?) countryside. It sort of scared him. He was used to plows being pulled by horses, but instead he saw huge metal things that had what looked like buckets on the end, and were moving without any visible force. The Wolfbrotheers are a very superstious people, and he suspected the tractor to be the work of ghosts. He just wanted to get to the embassy as soon as possible.

By the time Alehkra reached the capital, he was thouroghly shaken. He had seen many more of the tractors, and smaller versoins with rubber wheels to transport people. He had even seen what looked like a giant metal bird soaring through the air with a roar. He looked to the city, and wondered if he would have a welcoming party or something.

OOC:I'm assuming we've already exchanged embassies...

OOC: Doom, I expressedly said, "Even with close allies we have kept a safe distance, jus far enough so we could 'Pull a gun and shoot first.'" That was meant to mean that not even C A D nations had/have embassies in Shenyang. It comes from the fact that Shenyang had a bloody and destructive revolution in the 1970's, and has since been paranoid about allowing any 'Imperialistic Foreign Powers' into Shenyang. Shenyang has embassies all over the place, but nothing in Shenyang. Of course, you're welcome to establish one now.

OOC: Is anyone going to greet Alehkra, or should I simply have him going to the palace?
Shenyang
05-09-2007, 03:21
OOC: Yeah, I've just been out for a little longer than expected, and I'm trying to come up with a good post. Here's my best shot.

IC:

A small limo pulled up near the Mereshkan delegation. Several Shenyangi diplomats stepped out. One, dressed entirely in black, looking sinister and friendly at the same time, walked directly up to Alehkra and offered his hand.

"Mr. Alehkra of Mereshka and friends I presume? I'm Chairman Alexander Murdock, elected leader of Shenyang. You must be tired, come back to my chateau, I insist."

He waited for the response, he knew from intel reports that Shenyang had to be overwhelming for these people. He hoped that the more 'Old World Russia' feel of his home would allow them to be properly introduced.

Alehkra glanced uneasily at the limo. "Eh, sure. Why not. Just tell the ghost I'm a friend." He said nodding torwards the car. He made several hand sginals to his clansmen, and they dispeersed amon the populace. They would follow him wherever he went, and with a simple hand signal they would jump to his deffense.

"Don't worry, it won't do anything to you, I promise."

Murdock proved it by kicking the tire quite hard. The vehicle didn't even move.

The limo took its occupants out of the capital, about 15 minutes into the surrounding mountains. The area was exceedingly beautiful, and easilly defensable.

The chateau was a mix of several European styles, it created an air of being a pleasant, quaint retreat, while it was actually quite large, and included a concealed, subterrainean heliport.

"Welcome to my home. I know this is unorthodox, but I could tell you were uncomfortable in Randova. It can be an unsettling place, even for me."

He led his guest to the library, which had an amazing view of the mountains, Randova was hidden on the far side of the mountain, leaving only the serene landscape of the Shenyangi mountain ranges.

"I must ask you, what do you think of our country? Not of all the technology, not of the way we do things, but of the country itself."

It was a very abnormal question, but it had been so long since Shenyang had had any objective external assessment.

Alehkra, while edging slowly away from the car, replied, "Well, the mountains are much like back home. Your country is quite a bit bigger than mine though. But, it is a rather beautiful country."

OOC: Gotta go. Back on tomorrow afternoon.
Mereshka

OOC: Okay.

"Hmm... it is, its a shame so little of Shenyang can look like this for quite some time. Our old doctrine of hyper-industrialism nearly destroyed the nation. Now we're working on ways to change that, to fix the damage we did.

Anyway, I just wanted to show you that not all of Shenyang is covered in advanced technological sprawl. That way you can feel a little more at ease here. So, care if we take my limo back to the capital, and I show you around your emassy complex. It has a beautiful view of Randova Central Park, the closest we can manage to the country-side inside Randova, and only a few minutes from the Shenyangi Government Complex."

Murdock gestured to the car, and waited patiently for a response.

BUMP

Come on, someone has to want to put an embassy in a massive democratic nation that often acts as an international police force. (regardless of whether or not we're wanted there)
Mereshka

OOC: Oops, forgot about this. Sorry.
IC: Alehkra sighed and looked at the possesed metal object. "Sure, lets go."

Official communique from President R.L. XXV, Dominion of Ruthless Slaughter, to Chairman Alexander Murdock, Covenant Nation of Shenyang

Well old friend, 'bout damn time! Where would you like us to stick our embassy? There will be a squad of ten Civil Authority for security, with your nation being the victim of the occasional terrorist attack. We'll be sending our usual liason, Ambassor Arthur Cane.

We would gladly return the offer, but you've already got one. Glad to see you finally opening up to the world!
Sincerely,
R.L.

Murdock took Alehkra back to the capital, and showed him to the embassy.

"I have other urgent duties to attend to, I hope you find these accomedations acceptable."

He left, having to respond to other inquiries. The view from the embassy was beautiful to be sure, even if the urban landscape ruined the background.

Murdock returned to his office and typed a hasty response to the Dominion.

Diplomatic Communique:

We are ready to provide you with an embassy complex in downtown Shenyang. The complex is roughly 20 minutes walk from the Government Complex and can accomedate your delegation comfortably.

As always, 'THE ODST ARE BETTER, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!'
-Chairman A. Murdock
