I fancy making a thread that crosses heroes with stuff like justice league and marvel superheroes and also villains as well

Ok here is the basic synopsis I have for this at the moment.

Over the course of the last century, the rise in "gifted" human beings has increased, some natural evolution, others forced acceleration of evolution and others merely created with these advancements

The recognised term for these beings is "The Awakened"

During the second world war experiments by SS scientists intent on crafting a pure Aryan race uncovered a secret embedded deep in the human code...these humans were different, special but this program was thwarted by Allied forces at the end of the war but the program inspired several factions to create their own experiments



But in the 21st century a few people from all walks of life are uncovering their gifts and talents each day through accident or maybe they have known about their gift all along and now is the time to use them as they see fit.

it is entirely up to you, as the story progresses so does your character arc - i tale for example lex luthor, he starts off wanting something and once he as attained that his eyes are fixed on a new target, a new challenge it is up to you

but i dont want anyone with the power to "cause a giant black hole and destory the universe" kind of powers haha, because thatis too much too soon

Family: Dead and buried in at least two graves apiece.
Short Biography: Born 1480, Dr. Faustus ('Lucky') began experimenting with the Occult early on. Gradually his experiments grew more and more risky untill, one day, he made his final deal.
In exchange for immortality and vast power, he lost his soul, his sanity and his family. He promptly slaughtered his entire town and fled to London, which he tried to burn down in 1666 because it seemed like a fitting date. After that he fled to America and, from there, to points unkown.
What remains now is a shell of man, kept intact only by the seething demonic powers just barely contained under his skin. His brief periods of lucidity are chiefly occupied by planning his next act of insanity, and while he is quite capable of having a coherent, even intelligent, conversation, his tendancy to set things on fire at random is often off-putting to any potential company.

After being found he was put in adoption agency where he was adopted by a loving family of four and became really used to being a normal person until he was 13 and he discovered his powers after mastering them. He soon started to hide them so he could hurt his family but he also been on the other side where is involved with the Cedar Bloc Pirus in Compton where he lives at .

It was the start of WW2 and Hitler had hired him to perform genetic tests on POW's. One day the test went wrong and everything he was making broke after falling off a table. All of the chemicals gave him the superpowers that he has now. After the war he went underground and lived in berlin until the fall of the berlin wall. After that he moved to america to start a paramillitary group to overthrough the U.S. to get revenge fro WW2.

For unknown reasons, naturally dampens all esper abilities within 50 feet or so of his person. All other "special powers" are contained in his suits. Without them, he has no arms or legs, making him extremely weak. Different suits have different abilities, but all have the following in common:

Extended Sensory Capabilities (Light, Sound, Infrared, Ultraviolet, etc.)

Weaknesses:

1) Like all mechanical things, his suits are prone to mechanical failures (especially The Egg).

2) The substance that serves as his blood, in addition to making him a limited immortal (can die in combat, among other ways) also has a deteriorating affect on his nervous system. There is a constant battle between its healing affects and its destructive affects. Thus, the Metal Man occasionally goes into a catatonic coma. This can last for several weeks. This process can be triggered by overloading his senses/sensors.

Short Biography:Jean-Yves Sareau was an actor who fled France during the La Voisin scandal and ended up in Stratford-on-Avon, where he staged the accursed play "The King in Yellow" to a Royal audience. His production, enhanced by demonic aid, proved most effective-the only survivor was George III, who fled into madness. The Old Ones were pleased and drew Sareau to Carcosa, where the King himself made the actor over into the Phantom in the Pallid Mask, harbinger of the King and destroyer of realities, then was dispatched back to Earth.
Formerly an occult dilettante, Sareau was deeply shaken by his experience, and went to his wife to discuss the matter. He unmasked and discovered his horrid visage slew those who beheld it, as his wife died screaming in terror. Wracked by grief and vengeance, he swore to defeat the Old Ones and cast down the King in Yellow.
He has since wandered the skin of the Earth, combatting the Old Ones where he found them.
Superhero Name:The Pallid Mask
Powers/Skills:Sareau's primary power is his face, lethal to those who behold it-undead and robots, those not truly alive, are unaffected, and those capable of dimensional travel can circumvent this by leaving the reality in which they viewed his face, while those with mystic defenses of adequate strength can instead become petrified until this is somehow reversed. Sareau can manipulate the space/time continuum to an extent, becoming solid or intangible at will, teleporting himself and/or others, and redirecting missile attacks away from him. He can also walk the dimensional planes using this ability. He is still a skilled actor, and has developed various stealth and burglary skills over the course of his career.
Weakness:Sareau is undead, and has the emnity of the Old Ones for his "betrayal" of the King in Yellow. His death will herald the Coming of the King in Yellow, and this is fairly well-known among the various Servitors of the King.

This bio is for a heroic character with a horrific drawback, but he can easily become a villain bent on destroying All That Is, depending on the requirements of the campaign.

Short Biography: Svetlanka Heydrich was born in 1925 in Germany, both of her parents were eager supporters of the Nazis and were proud members of the Nazi party. Like her elder cousin Reinhard, Svetlanka became heavily active in the Party and as the war situation got worse, she volunteered to serve as part of an anti-aircraft gun crew. On her first mission in May 1942 her gun took a direct hit and she was badly wounded. When the doctors announced to a concerned Reinhard that there was nothing that could be done, he pulled some strings with the SS Paranormals and had a mage place her in a magical stasis field in a top secret location. He killed the mage shortly afterwards to keep her location a secret, but was assassinated shortly afterwards. Svetlanka awoke from the stasis field 3 years later, her body fully healed and augmented by the magic and with new-found agility. However she found her nation in ruins and National Socialism completely gone. Enraged at this, she has waited in the shadows for many years, honing her skills so that when she strikes at the USA it will be hurt badly. She has supported herself by engaging in small-time crime such as muggings or breaking and entering, leaving a tag of "Iron Cross" wherever she strikes.
Superhero Name/Villain Name: Iron Cross
Power/Skill: Remarkable agility and speed, knows a great deal about firearms and is proficent with almost any firearm she can find. Uses a P38 as her backup weapon but prefers to rely on her speed and agility to out-manouver an opponent. She is not as strong as most superheroes, and is not much stronger than the average woman.

Power/Skill: Slight telekinetic ability, thermal vision, expert swordsmanship, shadows will manifest into living creatures when he is almost dead, uber-agility.

Weakness: Hallucinations, easily led astray due to no real morals or sense of good or evil, shadows also attack him.

Ok here is my revised plot as it stands, anyone can feel free to suggets some things if they wish.

Stemming from experimenst carried out by Nazi scientists to create a pure superhuman Aryan race the scientists and experiments that were used suddenly dissapeared only for them to return in America in the 50's, the project at that time named "CODE:saviour" was to create a soldier capabl;e to doing a hundred mens fighting and work but those loyal to the old ways allied themselves with those megalomaniacs hidden within the bowels and walls of the American government and society

But not all of these people were given powers, a fair share of these people were naturally enhanced and as such were the vital link between perfecting the experiments but at the same time there are those who were born with these powers whop use their power not for global domination but for a quick buck, for fame, for money, for greed while none but the military that is frightened by these natural "awakened" beings fight them off until their own super soldiers are completed

ASnd now the good stand up, whether they be superhuman or merely humans with a strength that no other can comprehend, inner strength now rise up to fight evil on all fronts..will their stories become one and will they stand to rise or fall against their foes..we shall soon find out.

When on the beat one night in Belfast, he was stabbed by a youth during a robbery. To his surprise, he found that where the knife had penetrated his body it had turned to liquid. He healed and has practised at night for years as well as at gyms in an attempt to gain an advantage over the crook sof his home country.
Superhero Name: Mercury
Power/Skill: Can turn any individual part of his body, or his entire body, into a liquid. Able to pass through any non-waterproof item. Can heal any wounds, so long as he is in liquid form. Liquid cannot be evaporated or frozen. Immune to any radioactive materials. Also an expert in Kung Fu. Can control liquid i.e. water, mercury etc

Weakness:
Cannot heal wounds to brain or heart. Cannot keep in liquid form permenantly. Only immune to radioactivity in liquid form. Cannot maintain liquid form if unconcious or asleep.

Alliance, a Superhero

Name: Franklin Joseph Winston/James Reynolds (In America)
Age: Appears to be late 20's or early 30's, but is actually somewhere closer to 90.
Race/Nationality: Seemingly English/Scottish

Job: NY Cab Driver
Clothes: Generally, black jacket, brown pants, and cap.
Family: Unknown
History:

Franklin washed up on 'Sword Beach' in France, completely naked with no memory of his previous life or identity and with the intelligence of a child partially, on June 7th, 1944, the day after D-Day and the Allied Landings in WWII. He was recovered by a follow up squad of British troops who took him in to custody. He discovered that he was fluent in English, German, French, Russian, and Italian, and seemed to know some Japanese, Chinese, and Greek. The squad named him after the Big Three (FRANKLIN Delano Roosevelt, JOSEPH Stalin, WINSTON Churchill) and the leader of the squad, Sgt. Reynolds, became a father figure/good friend. It soon became apparent that Franklin was a skilled shot and could handle firearms incredibly well and he was adopted into the squad, serving with them throughout Europe.

After the war, Franklin returned with Reynolds to England, and there he discovered his powers; including superspeed, telekinesis, and others. He began to use them for good causes, though not as a superhero. As time passed, he additionally discovered that he didn't age physically, though he could still be wounded and die. Deciding in the late fifties to move to America, he went, and Reynolds followed, the two adopting the guise of brothers, and later, father and son, as the kind Seargent aged while Franklin stayed young.

Witnessing the Cold War unfolding and seeing the former Allies of the US and the Soviet Union at eachothers throats (not helped in the slightest by the Cuban Missile Crisis, where he considered suicide), Franklin went into a deep depression, until Reynolds was shot one day by a hoodlum for drug money. Franklin decided to use his abilities to protect others, so that they wouldn't suffer as he now had to forever. So, in 1972, Alliance was born. Originally simply fighting crime and drugs, Alliance went onto combat supervillians and larger threats to mankind, including a major battle with a semi-archenemy called Axis who had a similar story but on the opposite side of WWII.

With the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union, Alliance went into semi-retirement, fighting less actively. Innocously disguised as a New York cabdriver, while being one of the most experienced superheroes in existance, Alliance now waits and contemplates what to do with his continued immortality.

Superhero Costume: Currently, a black clothing with a trenchcoat bearing the flags of the UK, the US, and the USSR on it, with a mask and helmet over his head.

Just like Alliance, Axis mysteriously washed ashore on a beach near the front, but instead of , but instead of Normandy, France, he washed ashore the day before the Allied Invasion of Sicily, and was recovered by a patrol. His story was similar to that of Alliance, unable to remember any name or past life, with a somewhat childlike mentality in some places, and being named after the leaders of the Axis soldiers that recovered him instead of the Allied leaders. However, instead of making friends or being sent to the front, the SS Paranormals had him sent into Germany at one of their facilities, as the circumstances of his arrival proved interesting to them. Soon enough, he began to show incredible abilities, particularly telepathy and super intelligence. Axis got himself put into the Nazi Party and soon became a high-ranking advisor to the Furher. He concieved of numerous plans and strategies that succeeded wildly and looked like the Nazi's ultimate weapon. He was also the perfect Nazi, considering his Aryan appearance, and possessing all the traits that a SS and Nazi Officer should possess. Unfortunately he was too much of a perfect SS and he decided that he should rule instead of the increasingly crazed Hitler, and plotted to have him killed, and nearly succeeded. However, certain events occured and Axis realized that Germany was falling to fast and that the Nazi's would lose even with his leadership as they were inherently flawed and too focused on the extermination of the Jews and other such targets.

Seeing all this, Axis faked his death and went into hiding. He evaded all attempts at capture by the Allies to be tried for war crimes, though he actually committed few, disagreeing with the Holocaust as it was a waste. He spent time in South America with several other former Nazis and SS officers, and eventually realized his other powers. Filled with hubris and arrogance, Axis eventually tried to use them to gain power directly, but was defeated by Alliance above New York. Realizing his mistakes at trying direct conquest, Axis instead turned the Nazis he hid with into the makings of his new organization, the Crimson Network, using the mantle of the immortal Red King to head it in disguise, while additionally becoming different people of influence in both the Soviet Union and the United States (the Cuban Missile Crisis was his ultimate test of his influence).

Using the Crimson Network, Axis had manipulated various peoples and resources, for example funding the ESP projects of the Soviet Union and using its successful research to create powerful psychics for the Crimson Network. He sent these operatives, and others, to kill his nemesis Alliance multiple times, but constantly failed, but was still able to decieve the world that Axis was dead. He also avoided numerous attempts by Crimson Network members to seize control over the organization, further enforcing loyalty as the Red King. At the height of the Crimson Network's power, it was a hidden third superpower in the Cold War. However, the fall of Communism disrupted the many resources that Axis had behind the Iron Curtain, and the organization fell into anarchy, with the Axis fading back into the shadows.

In the modern era, Axis has returned once again to try to conquer the world. He has reformed the Crimson Network and once again donned the mantle of the Red King. Additionally, ss his newest personality, William Lord, Axis has vast influence in the post-Soviet world of pro-Capitalist views. He has crafted the business of Lord Enterprises, and through its advanced technology and products (derived from Crimson Network developments and Soviet Research), has made the persona of William Lord one of the richest men on Earth. Combining these two personas, and the many others that Axis possesses, he wields vast influence over the world and has prepared to strike anew.

Yes, though it is not undefeatable. Powerful psychics, [read-AXIS] could get through. Additionally, the two characters have flaws.

Alliance is actually a very depressed person. He's had to watch friends age and die while he stays young. He feels very alone, and that can be exploited.

Axis, while regularly beating on his minions, has yet to face an actual challenge in physical combat for some time, instead sending his capable minions. He is out of practice, and if push comes to shove, he might not be able to make it.

Biography: Subject-7 is the result of scientific tests performed in the late 90's in Japan. A joint US-Japan research center discovered a potentially extraterrestrial subterranean structure. Within the construct a number of interesting beings existed which exuded a highly energetic substance. By extracting this and injecting it into human subjects they sought to create a race of super-soldiers. Unfortunately, the denizens of the construct broke out of the lab and attacked the scientists. While they were eventually driven back, Subject-7 managed to escape as well. He now seeks to unearth the consrtuct and release his brethren from within. As a result of the experimentation Subject-7's hair became pure white, and a black substance formed upon his lower body and torso. This substance is veined with white, and appears to provide no significant protection.

Super-Name: Solus
Powers/Skills: 1. Impressive Strength. Solus has quite a lot of muscular power, but nowhere near enough to throw a tank or anything. Punching through a wall or one-handed choke-outs are the norm.

2. Energetic Boons. A result of the experimentation, they provide a few chief benefits. Solus can conjure blasts of blue-white energy to hurl (they can be dodged since they move somewhat slowly, and they can't blow up a tank or anything), he can jump incredible distances, and he is capable of shifting himself extradimensional for a moment (effectively he goes ethereal for up to two seconds). Also, he can accelerate himself in the time-continuum for a short time (boosts his speed a large ammount for up to five seconds). Lastly, these boons have permanantly altered Solus's nature. He's not exactly...human.

3. Energetic Shielding. The substance forms a unique energy barrier about Solus's body. Objects of insufficient kinetic energy are incapable of passing through. Bullets, grenades and the like deflect about the shield. However, objects delivered close enough pass through harmlessly. Any melee attack will suffer no ill effect from the shield.

4. Lastly Solus has a great deal of martial art skills.

Weakness: Solus eschews the use of any weapon. He feels that his gifts are more than enough to make up for this, and so he uses no devices. In addition, he appears rather odd, so public relations are hampered (unless he conceals his disfigurement in some way).

Alignment: More along the lines of neutral. If anyone continually interferes with his progress, he will feel no compunction about eliminating the threat. However, anyone who butchers humanity will also earn his ire.

Simply as a proposal and means of getting everyone together, why don't we post a starting encounter with the Vast Conspiracy that intends to modify all Mankind, be it the former SS, the Cold War hidden officers, the corporate moguls of the eighties, etc. All we'd need is a singular symbol or phrase that the conspiracy uses, and our various investigations would draw us together-sort of like the Umbrella Corporation in Resident Evil or HYDRA in Marvel.

Power/Skill:

Aevumkinesis: he has the ability to control the biological process of all life, down to the cellular level. Many people that have this power use it to heal others or even augment their own biology. Psykarch takes it to the next level by using it to harm his enemies, killing them with heart-attacks, accelerated cancer, and other biological deaths.

Psychokinesis: Psykarch's main power is his mind, using mind control, telepathy, mind reading, psychometry, and telekinesis. In other news, I got my first writing credit today. "The Edge of Twilight" magazine has agreed to publish "The Pregnant Vampire," a piece of flash fiction that I wrote, in its inaugural issue. Needless to say, I'm pleased with this result.

Regarding the question as to Solus' disguise:

I didn't think one would be necessary. Brain Jar's sensors are good enough that Solus shouldn't need to leave to learn what he needs to know.

I suppose I could improvise something--either a holographic projection around Solus' body or a ROV that Solus could operate via direct neural interface.

Considering that I've got the governments of Germany, Italy and Spain (yep...THOSE governments) trying to do the same thing, this comes as no big surprise.

Later he wiped out any traces of his existence by erasing any memory of there being a 'Scot Wyke' on the Scotland Yard database. Scott soon settled down and stole a shipping vessel vowing that he would never let any more 'misfits' suffer. He now sails from port to port looking for more 'misfits' to add to his crew. Scott is somewhat Bipolar and sometimes lets out 'Scottis' when angry. Scottis is amazingly more strong and fast than Scott, he is also much more brutal and the two personalities never want the same thing.

2) The IC thread for this is called "Brave New World," and it could REALLY use some spicing up. I think we're down to two people posting right now, and both of them are good guys.
