This is the Imperial News and Information Network, reporting from the Imperial Acropolis, Kartika-

At 2:30 this morning, Emperor Kexarin Raincedar, after 30 years of rule, has resigned. He has not officially stated a reason for this abdication yet, but it is suspected to be for health issues.

Former Emperor Raincedar was granted the Imperial Sceptre in an elabourate ceremony in Kartika 30 years ago, and has since overseen Kirav's first major diplomatic contacts ever, led the nation through several wars, and chartered a total 0f 48 colonies.

For our foreign viewers, we would like to clarify that the Sceptre is not hereditary, and that the Emperor does not rule with absolute power, but is the head of government and state, and oversees the Executive branch of the Empire's government. The Emperor is chosen from a council of clan leaders, who in turn are chosen by clan members.
--
The Denvic Concuilum(Clan Council in Coscivian) is to convene in two days in the city of Terratrium to chose the next Emperor. However, the council IS allowed to force the Sceptre back into Kexarin's hands.

[OOC: Was your emperor elected or appointed by someone higher than him? Because I don't think he can "resign" unless so.]

We wish our ally's former leader good health, and that the next leader is equally as strong as M. Raincedar.

[ Autocrats can abdicate the throne, although it's usually because they have to or face rebellion. ]

He's elected by the Clan Council. All non-legislative and non-clan positions below him are appointed.

Thank you. The Clan Council shares our hopes for a strong leader. However, it is possible that they may choose to put him back in office, which they CAN force him to do.
