Paladin Order.

We stand today in a world filled with turmoil, a world where massive corporations trample upon the little in the name of profit and wars are being waged just for the sake of profit. Something has to be done. As such, I, with similar minded individuals decided to bring back the honour of old, the spirit of knighthood in these troubled times.

We do however realize that today, honour, bravery and courage matter little on a battlefield littered with high tech weaponry and countless explosives. With this in mind we have decided to form a new organization, one that will bring a ray of hope around the world by fighting fire with fire.

Alas, today the Paladin Order says its greetings to the world.

Charter of the Paladin Order.

I. Constituency

a) The Paladin Order represents a non-national entity and as such does not have any national alignments.

b) The Paladin Order accepts volunteers and support regardless of nationality, race or sex.

c) The Goals & Objectives of the order are not influenced by the sponsoring nations

II. Orders & Objectives

Primary goals:

a) Protection of small countries following the establishment of a contract between parties.

b) Protection of non armed nations according to existing contracts.

c) Support for nations deemed worthy by the Order.

d) The undertaking of mercenary actions for approved nations.

Secondary Goals:

a) Establishing a power base for the Order.

b) Fighting for a cause deemed worthy.

c) Creation of economic support for the Order

III. Standard Rules for a contract

a) The Order does not represent a terrorist organization and as such all request for actions of this nature will be made available to the general public.

b) The Order does not assume responsibility for the actions of the protected nations, however should it became obvious that such a nation willingly engaged itself in a war or ignited the chain of events that led to it, we reserve the right to renegotiate the contract.

c) The Order is not obliged to fight in conquest wars waged by protected nations. As such, Order forces will play a defensive role, unless stated otherwise.

d) Order forces hired as mercenary troops will engage in offensive actions and will otherwise act as troops of the hiring nation.

IV. Economic considerations

It is painfully obvious in today’s world that no military force of any size can be maintained without proper funds. As such it is required for the order to acquire the means for its existence. Given the fact that the Order is aimed at serving among others nations that do not posses the required fund to support a military, alternative means of payment had to be found.

a) Nations can negotiate the terms of payment should it lack the funds to do so, the following list contains items in which the Order might be interested:

- Military Bases
- Industrial Permissions
- Natural resources

b) All the money resulted as such will be reinvested in local business. Profit is not an objective for the order.

c) Order bases in protected nations will not be used in actions of the Order not involving the protected nation unless stated otherwise in the contract.

d) Payment for mercenary actions of the Order is to be made in cash, exceptions are made only on a case to case basis.

V. Volunteers & Support

a) As mentioned in the constituency section of the charter, volunteers of any nation race and sex are accepted in the Order.

b) The order accepts donations of any kind made by nations around the world.

c) Once joined, volunteers will receive a new identity for the time of their service.

d) All supporting actions are to be kept secret by the Order, unless required otherwise by the sponsoring nation.

As of this moment, the gates of the order are opened for those willing to join or for those willing to provide aid for our organization.

OOC: Does it require the nation's assistance, or the independent backing of a single entity and / or corporation? It doesn't seem too clear about that, since it changes in my opinion. However, sign me up. Once you answer, I'll write up an IC application appropriately.

OOC: It's an independent organization, doesn't have ties with any set country. It does however accept donations, just that this doesn't create an obligation towards the donor. If you want to support the organization you can do it via SIC or ICly if you feel inclined to it.

Answer to your second question: Both actually. The nations can provide the support that individuals can't offer, at least in the beginning.

OOC: Sorry mate, I beat you to it. I have had modern Knights Templars for ages but it wouldn't be unusual for different sects to crop up every now and again.

Seeing as we sort of have the same organisation within our borders, co-operation between them could be assured. Obviously they would share the same religious goals seeing as it is a religious organisation and would work independently of our own governments. Think about it.

Also the NS Interpol (persoanlly I think they are a complete and utter joke) have targetted the Knights for arrest and disbandment, co-operation between our two orders would be really beneficial.

The Knights Templar were (and are on NS) a religious organisation. Funding would come from the Catholic Church in which ever nation their Chapter House resides and not a nation's government. I'm sure they would be willing to accept government funding but it would come under religious funding on a whole. It would be easier to get funding straight from the Church like the RL Church of today.

OOC: No problem with that, note though that the organizations are different in scope and purpose. Yours represents the hammer for your military while mine is a shield of some sort. Plus there's no national or religious alignment going on here.

Edit: To clear any possible misunderstanding, my paladins are based on the protector and expeditionary side of the Templar knights, leaving the religious side apart.

OOC: It would only act as the hammer if it were in the best interests of the Church, it is a military organisation just like the original Knights Templar but it is not alligned with any nation. Mine are alligned to the Church in Stevid as well as the Catholic Church on a whole- not to the state despite being a Catholic state.

Also it seems that your Templars, while their goals are worthy, have no real religious goals. A powerbase has been established in Stevid. the Knights Templar organisation's HQ is located in a Chapter House (the RL Templars had their chapter house in London- you can still visit it). My Chapter House is in St. malleus Cathedral. The Knights Templars are all under one banner no matter which nation they are in and have full access to the Stevidian Templar Chapter House.

OOC: Exactly, this order will help anyone that fits the bill, be it muslim, jew, catholic or orthodox. Religion doesn't matter for them. Also it's named the Paladin Order, just to clear up the confusion. The reference in the title is a homage to the first modern army of the last millennia.

OOC: I see, i understand the Orthodox and the Jews as other religions they would help and I know you called it the Paladin Order but you said they were the Templars of the modern day. The Templars would implicitly hate Islam, their ancesters did and they had Crusades because of it- the majority of which we won.

Still it's nice the co-operation is cool, it would make good rps though. Your guys would be in control of themselves with their own principles of peacefulness, whereas mine would be rather gung-ho and anti-heretical. Their conflicting views would be cool.

Many Vantanians found that the Paladin Order was to liberal for their views, and thus did not join. However, the Free Empire did donate two cents, a block of anticheese, and a bowl of week old oatmeal.

I'll be willing to sign up for it.

Miriana sat complacently. He looked with somewhat of an awe of discontent, an aura of slight wonder. "Huh? An order?" He asked, as Sekai sat across from him, his arms crossed, his head nodding slowly. "What do you mean, Sekai?"

"They call themselves the Paladin order, and Viraranaar has expressed interest that we join in it." Sekai spoke, frowning slightly as his Dagashdai swung slowly at the front of his waist. He was a tall, slightly lanky man who was still well built, yet his body was hidden under several layers of jet black clothing. Holding in his left hand was a diligently and well created umbrella, a silver white porcelain shade as his marble-colored sheath clanged loudly as he moved even slightly. His hair was long, elegant, beautiful, his eyes almost closed in deep thought, Miriana surveying him with such cold, calculating eyes. "They're an organization that could possibly further your goals, Miriana." Sekai said thoughtfully, thinking and contemplating his choice of words slowly. "The Envoltura del Diablo can only go so far for your protection."

"I'm not in danger." Miriana said, looking out the bustling city of Methronn. It was alive, thriving, booming with commerce and wealthy, the daily march of the Temsplaces rumbling like fervent thunder amongst the cobblestone streets, the cloudless sky blank with a watery azure blue, the rays dancing lightly into the window with an orange sun leering mercilessly down. Miriana raised his left arm to shield himself slightly, as Sekai offered him his umbrella. Miriana frowned. "Keep it to yourself, Lord Sekai. Your perfect complexion is what makes you a true noble." Miriana replied respectfully.

"I am merely looking out for your best interests, Miriana." Sekai answered back.

"I understand." Miriana said, smiling. He was a handsome character, though nowhere near Sekai's illustrious elegance nor perfection of looks. He was a silver haired man with long, slightly messy hair, his face fair and spotless as his smooth doll-like skin was a ghostly pale shade, giving a death-filled impression. A long fine line ran down his left cheek, as his left eye carried silver irises amongst a cut and battered pupil. His thin lips were a pale pink, his thin neck carrying signs of scars along the slowly healing skin unto his revealing collarbones. Short shouldered, lanky, he carried a sword identical to the one at Sekai's waist - long, noisy, beautiful in its white porcelain sheath, a fresh scent of juniper wafting gently from its hilt. "Do we accept?"

"I think it might be in your best interests." Sekai replied, nodding silently.

"Very well." Miriana confided. It was warm.

I will be brief. I will offer the services of my power as reigning Lord of Methronn to assist in whatever endeavor that may come. Appropriately, my friend Sekai Hamruun, a noble of the Krejei Hamruun clan, will also lend his services to the further prosperity of such an organization.

At the desk of the Grand Magister of the Order two messages were received. One full of promise for the future and one that deserved no consideration.

"Sir, will you reply to them?" asked one of the 'knights' serving for the Order, a young eager volunteer that joined searching for adventure and new experiences.

"Yes, it's only customary to return the favour, besides there is much promise in this message, and we'll need all the support we can get," the Grand Magister, a respectable man, probably in his forties informed the young man.

"Yes sir, I'll make all the arrangements needed."

"Good, now get on with it."

As the young knight left the room, the older one started tapping his fingers against the wooden desk. He realized that he had to be careful in what he was about to do if he wanted to insure the success of the order.

OOC: I was bored so I wrote something titanic so I apolagise but it just highlights the Knights Templar's stance on the affair and what our Chapter House is like. Ya know...adds some spice.

St. Malleus Cathedral- Knights Templar Chapter House

The ash wastes of the Stevid Wastelands that made up the horizontal centre of Stevid were the resting place of the semi-active volcano Mount Malleus which was where one of the largest cathedrals in the world was cited. It was one of the great Catholic pilgrimage sites too with millions visiting the mammoth cathedral every year but it was also the resting place of the Knights Templar’s Chapter House and were some of the most valuable religious artefacts in Christendom lay. It was deep in the underground tunnels of this cathedral, tunnels that buried deep into the mountainside, where the Grand Master, his Brother-Captains and Justicars met to dictate Templar policy and issues of importance and interest.

The grand oval table made of beech wood stone on broke grey stone in one of the vaults in the tunnels, it was the main cabinet office for the Grand Master and his aides, his chair sat at the end of the table and was completely unmistakeable as the high seat, the chair was made of oak and had expertly crafted into something just short of a throne with two wooden statues of Saints on either side of the chair- Saint George on the right and Mother Mary on the left. Carved underneath the seat itself was a dragon pierced by a sword. Mounted on the wall behind the chair was a huge fabulous crucifix encrusted with jewels and gems the glittered in the candle light.

In the great chair sat the Grand Master, occupying the two chairs down the table on both the left and right side were four Brother-Captains of the Chapter, and filling the remaining places around the table were Justicars from various Companies within the Chapter. The Grand Master cleared his throat to gain the attention of everyone there and made the sign of the cross which everyone immediately mimicked, he spoke the over rehearsed sentence in Latin as did everyone else together in harmony (everyone in the Knights Templar spoke Latin so long as they were in the Cathedral or any house of God).

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, Amen.” The congregation of Chapter leaders said in synchronisation.

“Brothers,” The Grand Master continued in Latin. “Good news from afar on foreign soil, an order proclaiming itself to be The Paladin Order has been established and is said to be the new modern, if be it tolerant and sympathetic, Templar organisation. It has come as a shock to us but also a welcome one too, the fundamentals of this order are similar to ours but they are much more tolerant than we. I have decided to offer our hand in friendship to this order since we are of the same brethren and religious cause as they are.”

There was a murmur of agreement around the table before the Grand-Master continued.

“The principles they have that are similar to ours are those of protecting the faith, the unwanted and the ‘unworthy’ or downtrodden. Nations worthy of their attention are those being walked over by infidels or doubters that feel that the presence of the almighty completely eludes them and allows them to commit atrocities over countries unable to adequately defend themselves against the elements. These reprobates are a real problem to the international community and the Paladin Order was established to protect countries and societies against such threats. Our Templar organisation differs slightly but essentially stands for the same cause but focuses on the Christian faith and its various sects, Judaism and Orthodox whereas the Paladin order defends all faiths. I have made it clear to the Paladin faith that we do not support their cause for defending Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs or Buddhists. They recognise this but they admire our principles of defending the one true faith and vice versa- their cause is indeed noble and we shall respect it.”

“I concur entirely Master.” One Brother-Captain said. “But if and when we fight along-side them I’m sure our two organisations will meet with inevitable friction. In comparison to the Paladin Order, we are gung-ho and upfront. We fight to the death for our faith and slay the unbelievers in ways that cleanses them of their religious blindness. We are the literal hammer of the Catholic Church while they profess to be its shield. A good warrior makes sure his sword and shield work and behaves harmoniously in battle, an alliance of mutual gain and interest with the Paladin Order is very wise. But their subtleness, not necessarily in combat but also in policy, will make us like the blood frenzied soldiers of Stevid and they the more desirable- thus it could put us in bad light.”

The Grand-Master nodded.

“I see your point Brother and yes, I believe that the Paladin Order will heavily criticise us for our policy of crushing the infidel that taint holy Christian soil. I have mentioned to them already that this is probably a failing of us. The Templars really should be more tolerant of Islam but let us not forget their history. The thirteen Holy Crusades waged in the distant past were not fought for nothing, Islam occupied the Holy Land and we had to reclaim it in the name of Christendom and Judaism and on more than one occasion we succeeded. The North Africans of the 1200’s invaded and occupied much of southern Spain much to the despair of the Pope and took many years to reclaim an undisputed Catholic land from those Muslim bandits. Of course there are the modern Islamic radical terrorists- I’m not saying every Muslim is a terrorist but their radical preachers aren’t doing their religion any favours. This cannot be forgotten and thus we do not trust religions that do not follow the same path as our own. The Paladin Order try to ignore the faults of other religions and wish to protect everyone, we will assist them in any way possible in nations of Christian, Orthodox or Jewish religions and sects.
“I have already contacted them and they heartedly agreed that cooperation would be extremely beneficial and would also work to our advantage. We are now not the only defenders of the faith and so our job has become just that little bit easier, the Paladin Organisation is fledging one but assisting one will guarantee the survival of the order and so it work vice versa, we help them they help us.
“They have a less intense Knight Selection process, our Knights outclass theirs. Ordinary soldiers make their ranks as well as elitist soldiers from other countries, in essence the Paladin Order is a glorified crusade organisation that sets out to defend rather than to conquer or liberate. Ours, like the original Templar Order, is a military organisation but is the elite of the elite. Our soldiers are the best and so there is much we can teach them. I have already chosen a few Justicars to directly liaise with The Paladin Order- those Justicars are the six that sit before us. They will go to the Paladin Order’s headquarters and will have a permanent place there so that they can keep our Order up to date with theirs and vice versa they will have representatives here to keep the cooperation at one hundred percent.”

He bowed his head as did everyone there, the signal that the meeting was over and was to end with a prayer. In Latin they recited the Lord’s Prayer and the Hail Mary before officially adjourning.

OOC: Interesting post Stevid. There are a few inaccurate references regarding the Paladin Order, but it is to be expected given the lack of information. I'll make an IC post later, after I get some confirmations regarding support.

I presently hold the honor of occupying both the position of Grand Master of the Pauperes commilitones Christi Templique Solomonici, more commonly known within Crookfur as the Templars, and as chief of the Combiend council of the Militant Orders.
Within Crookfur The Orders occupy a unique, and some would say powerful, position as part of society allowing us to be able to offer your organisation significant support. Initially we would like to offer you the freedom of our many chapter houses, an exchange of personnel: principally involving those who have taken full vows and a generous annual subsidy.

Crookfur is home to 3 Militant orders, the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon aka the Knights of the Temple aka the Knights Templar, principly involved in securing the Crookfur Banking system, has a direct military fucntion in that many members of the Crookfur armed forces esspecially the specail forces are knights with a dedicated core of personnel involved in elite "black" operations.
Next is the Order of St John aka the Knights Hospitallar, pirnciply involved in medicine and scientific research, unique feature is that some members take an altered form of the hypocratic oath which binds them to use force in defence of those under thier care hence the unusual sight of armed doctors.
lastly there is the Order of Columbus, mainly involved in missionary work with a side role in foreign intelligence.
All three order do work closely through the combined council and tend msotly to coem into play along side the inquisition (Crookfur intel service) when the Rp tends towards more fantastical areas ie devil worship/aliens/buffy/the X-files etc etc

yes it is all very confusing and i will need to write some of it down eventually.

Your message was well received by the Order and it made us look forward to cooperating with your organization. Although there are some differences in our scopes an goals we feel that we will both join hands to fight for a just cause.

Muritan of the Blue Moon received the letter with no small amount of trepidation-it was red and gilt-edged, by law restricted only to the Voivode himself, and the wax seal-unbroken-bore the wyvern on one leg, it's tail in it's mouth-no eyes but the Voivode's had seen it's contents. Uttering a prayer to poor, shattered Annilla, he carefully broke the seal and spoke the Words of Dismissal to the genius guarding the missive.
This was important-he recognized the Voivode's clumsy, childlike hand and the green ink that worthy used-and he read. Carefully-the Voivode was tempermental and was known to bind spirits of vengeance who watched carefully for disrespect or sarcasm.
Muritan placed his fist over his heart, praying for the protection of the Blue Moon, tapping with each prayer. He was being promoted to Minister-the uppermost echelon who could still be flogged by the Voivode-and given the handling of support to this Order of Paladins. The Voivode's support was absolute-he was a Romantic, and knew the Paladins were the personal knights of Charlemagne. His offerings were generous, and he desired the Blue Moon conduct matters in absolute secrecy.
Muritan sighed-that the Voivode would instruct the Blue Moon to act in secrecy put a priority on this. He had several properties that would serve the Voivode's purposes, but favored the buried city of the Spike-it had held a million citizens when the Spike erupted, it's use for urban warfare training only ceased when the Voivode built more modern cities for training, but it still had water and electricity from that era. Moreover, the Voivode's personal hunting grounds rested above it, ensuring further privacy. The underground rail still ran from the Yellow Springs, with only a single stop at Crabtown.
He sniffed-Crabtown would supply anything needed with no questions asked-the Order of Argan Argar was meticulous about that-the Paladins would simply have to be informed only to send Muri for supplies, and the Voivode was offering several to serve the Order.
Readying several alternatives, he sent the orders to renovate the Buried City and the railway through the Blue Moon's usual channels, then prepared to travel to the Headquarters of the Paladins. This would be a long journey...

Smithys Wine Bar, New Theeb Harbour, New Theeb, Vetaka:

John Carter of the Exeter Corporation had been sent to the Vetakan Capital on a rather weird assignment "Go to New Theeb, Go to Smithys, Pick up a Briefcase and come home". On his arrival to New Theeb International Airport John and received a rather odd Phone Call on board via the Planes Communication System whilst the Plane was taxing to the Terminal all it had said was go to Smithys Wine Bar within the hour and that's what he had done. Sitting on the Bars Open Terrace which looked out across the massive Harbour he was somewhat surprised when two men in very casual clothing appeared one carried a very stern looking metal Briefcase the other a black leather travel bag. The sat down and one spoke:

"I am Agent Smith, This is Agent Bradford we represent the President that's all you need to know."

Smith holding the metal case slid it across the table towards John he carried on speaking:

"This is an Isolation Case it is constructed of one hell of a material that cannot be opened by bashing it with a hammer it is currently locked within it contains a Cheque for a total of 3 Trillion USD which is to pay for your organizations services. It can only be opened with two Isolation Keys"

Smith reached into his pocket and produced a silver tube like object he handed it to John and continued:

"This is one key it must be used with the second key which has been sent via Secure Courier to your headquarters. The keys must be turned simultaneously in order for it to work you only have three attempts before the case will permanently lock and self destruct. It currently has a tracker so we can monitor its location we can also remotely activate the auto destruct so don't think you can be clever. If you fail to reach your destination within 4 days the case will lock and self destruct."

Agent Bradford smiled before handing John the travel case he spoke softly:

"This is your travel bag it contains the essentials and your flight leaves tomorrow at noon. Good Luck and Thank You"

Without another word the Agents nodded and left and yet another part of Vetakan Foreign Policy aimed at making the world a safer place and just taken place.

The Exeter Corporation was just one of the many fronts on which the Order did battle around the world. A cover company, its links with the order were carefully hidden, making it almost impossible for someone to link the two together.

Carter, if that was indeed his name, was a part of this corporation and he did his job well. His latest assignment had led him to Vetaka, an interesting country to visit by itself, but the purpose of his visit left him little time to enjoy the view. Now in a plane heading to another country he allowed himself to relax before the second stage.

"Do you know that," he heard a whisper in his eye, the small transmitter hidden in his ear doing its job,"We are only the sum of our actions? the code quickly following.

"Yes," came the quiet reply, "But those actions can be influenced by others.

With that the key and the case changed hands, countless operations of the same manner following.
