Geography

Around the 50 degree north mark from the equator, Zoingo is a place of mild summers and cool winters. Half of the lands in Zoingo sit around -10 feet below sea level, but thanks to the dike and irrigation systems, this land is now habitable and counts for 1/4 of all the agricultural land in the Commonwealth. The Venza River, the widest in the Commonwealth, runs through the country and splits it into 2 halfs, the north and southern halves.

North

In the Northern Providences, the climate consists of very cold winters and mild summers, this is where the greatest elevation variety is found. The average difference between elevation is about 1600 hundred feet, from the daunting slopes in the town of Mt. Clydeld, to the below sea level area's of Port Royal.

Zoingo rarely sees any natural disasters due to its location on the tectonic plates and the way it faces on the globe. Zoingo also has a protective barrier around itself due to the offshore island chain, which claims to be rich in oil. Other natural resources that are found in Zoingo are diamonds, coal, copper, sapphires, and silver, their have also been reports of natural gas being found in the hill country. The highest elevation is about 1500 feet, and the lowest is about 10 feet below sea level.

Economy

Zoingo recently has had a bustling economy, gradual growth in the service, tourism, and manufacturing has lead to higher class jobs. Thus, the country has now and upper class society that is slowly developing. Banking has started to become a major industry in the major cities \ and tourists flock to the countries beach and ski resorts. Automobile manufacturing has taken the lead as well, followed by furniture making and then mining. Agriculture is still going strong, and is high in demamd. Farmers grow wine, wheat, barley, tomatoes, oats, coffie, chickens/eggs, flowers, and chocolate. Zoingo is most noteable for its chocolate for its pure dark chocolate rich taste. The flowers also get high apprasial, commnetors say they are some of the most beautiful in the world. Fishing is also a growing industry, mainly in hacheries, which have high taste and save millions of wild fish from 'would be hunters'.

But above all, Zoingo's economy relies on trade, much like Massachusets did in the late 1700's or the Dutch, Zoingo's economy is highly relied upon with trade, especially merchanting. It serves about 60% of the national income, and it holds most of the stock market. Zoingo Trade International, lead by Gustav Echendorf, is the largest and most operate merchant business in all of Zoingo, and it helps out in the national economy alot.

History

A summary of the nations history can best be put by the most recent quote by Zoingo's Prime Minister, Martin Dalons:

Our nation was originaly colonized around the 1500's by several countries, the colonial territories were located in a region called Transaline. Resulting from this wide range of colonial outposts, this caused much of cultural diversity and wide arrange of dialects that we still see today. By the late 1500's, the different colonies and city's were united by the Bolish War of 1577 under one crown.

As the decades went on however, the people of the colony of Transaline were increasingly worried that there wouldn't be enough room to support an increasing population. This caused a mass movement to irrigate and dike areas that were under sea level, which is about....hmm...I would say....20 to 30 percent of the country? Anyway, in the progress of doing so, a few notable cities emerged, like Port Royal. Port Royal itself was built on a sunken lagoon, and the city of Bostonia was built from the newly irrigated land in 1644. The colony was widely believed to be self sufficient, although much of the colonial wealth was acquired through trade with several countries.

From 1699-1705, a mass revolution swept the country, for reasons still unknown. Some claim it was the Bolish limit to trade, others say that the Bolish sent over more troops to defend its prized territory. Still, this caused thousands to perish, and left our newly formed country in much debt and destruction from the burning of lands and the outtake of several loans. At the Convention of Songdo in 1702, the individual providence's formed a loose confederation and still kept the name Transaline

But the Republic of Transaline had a weak central authority over its provinces, which resulted in individual provences seceeding and forming their own governments in 1732. These new 'countries' fought for control of the country, where the province of "Zoingo", won, and established The Kingdom of Zoingo in 1754.

From the start, the king faced numerous problems with the declining economics, the agricultural sector lagging behind, and trying to keep all of the provinces in line....it was a mess, but he got through it by exploting the greats factor of Zoingo.....its numerous deep water ports. He sponsored shipbuilding compaines, merchants, as well as funding colonial expeditions. As our trading network expanded, we started a more 'market to market' system, where we buy goods that countries make and sell them to countries that need those goods, and inturn take those countries goods and sell them to others. This lead to our merchant fleet reaching over 10,000 ships by the 1850's going in and out of Canalive City, our then trading capital, in a week or 2.

The citizens, however, were a tinderbox that was set on fire that caused mass confusion in 1854, 1862, 1899, and 1946, which saw the rise of another republic, a dictatorship, a monarchy, and a democracy respectfully. The recent form, the United States of Zoingo, saw development of cities increase, as well as the pushing of citizens eastward into the country. During this time, Canalive City lost its major trade status to Port Royal, but Canalive remained a center of finance, trade, and manufacturing. Then of course, the captial, to promote growth inland, was moved to Juvlii, and launched a huge movement of governernment to Juvlii.

Then, we reach a few years ago, when Roland took office as President of Zoingo, and the citizens, for a unsure reason, wanted the constitutional monarchy that they felt was greatly wanted. It was approved by the Congress, and the government retook another look at the family that was to inherit the 'throne', which was the Ragnald family that currently has King Alan Ragnald IV sitting at his desk. A little while later, the country was shocked to find that the King was pressing for a movement of the government from Juvlii to Amsteldam, which was closer back west along the coast, but he had good reason, this was the capital of the 'Province of Zoingo' centuries ago. Then, again the country was shocked to find that this little canal filled city beat out Port Royal in terms of goods traded. If you look around Emperor Blackfield, we are on a city, that sits on islands in a lagoon, on an island that is miles from the coast. Amsteldam had one thing that Port Royal didn't have.....a railroad network. Even though Amsteldam has to use canals to bring ships into its port from a few miles away, became the hub of international goods and Port Royal became the hub of colonial goods."

Canalive City:

Canalive City is where the sprawling masses of Zoingo collied in a cultural tidal wave. A long history in the arts and in science have lead into its major development as a port city. With millions inside the city streets, transportation problems have been solved, which inclued train and subway service. And the famous Zongo De la Ariopuerta, is home to many international airlines. Now that the city has been built out, it has now developed inward, with skyscrapers starting to appear often over the city's skyline.
