Imperial Dominion of No Taxes
Political Info
Official Long Title: Imperial Dominion of No Taxes
Common Titles: Benelux Empire, No Taxes
Capitals: Amsterdam (Legislative), Brussels (Executive)
Political System: The political system of No Taxes is officially a Constitutional Monarchy, though in reality it is much more complicated than this. There are two congressional houses, the National Assembly which consists of members elected from each district in No Taxes with the number determined by population. Any citizen of the empire over the age of 18 can vote in the elections for the National Assembly, whose members are reelected every 5 years. The National Assembly serves as the legislative branch of government, controlling the budgets and other internal affairs of the empire. The Assembly elects a Prime Minister, usually from the majority party, to serve as its head and is based in Amsterdam. The other house, the Council of Nobles, is as the name suggests a council of all the various head nobles from each duchy or other aristocratic region of the Empire and largely controls the foreign policy of the Empire. Also, every time an Emperor dies, the Council meets to elect a new Emperor for life from among the various aristocratic families of No Taxes. The Emperor serves as the ceremonial head of the nation and controls the military. The Council of Nobles convenes in Brussels.
