Okay... I'll be working on this over the next few weeks. Any advice is appreciated along the way. (Sorry for the "do not post" request at the start; but I did want to make sure all relevant posts are together!)

For reference, I'm trying to model Trivalvian military structure on both Canadian and British military structure, with a few changes thrown in.

If you require any assistance, don't hesitate to consult me. I'll be more than happy to help you establish your ORBAT. I've done about four for myself and numerous ones for other nations including Maldorians, Gataway, and a few others. :)

That would be great, actually. I'm finding large gaps in my knowledge, and increasing demands on my time (took on a second, part time job in addition to my current full-time job to help make ends meet and to add to my resume recently). If you have any suggestions or concerns about current structure, don't hesistate to tell me!

Your TO&E is perfect, very well done. As for your actual ORBAT, list of military units etc, it really depends on the style of military you're going after. Since you say British or Canadian, I'd suggest creating unit names that reflect your national heritage etc.

I like the concept of 1st/2nd generation BGs. That's unique. I might steal it <_<

Trivalvia, nice. Woulda been nice to know this when your civil war thingy was on...I could have made better posts. You outclass me. but then so does everyone.:)

Questers: the 1st / 2nd generation battlegroup concepts are because I've been gradually introducing newer ships to replace older ones. Sadly, production wasn't up to the task, and so the navy is still running a number of older ships to keep a fair number of hulls in the water.

Wanderjar: That's a good thought. British and Canadian military structure owes a bit to my RL preference. Trivalvia itself was two countries until recently, one of them a monarchy, the other a parliamentarian democracy that got rid of its monarchy centuries ago. The only unit that I've given any real thought to has been the 1st Battalion (the Screaming Mollusks - started life as a resistance force in the 2nd World War, became a formal military unit towards the end of the war and since evolved into an elite force. Think Royal Canadian Airborne (pre-disgrace) rather than Delta Force.). Beyond that, I'm open to suggestions.

EDIT: Okay, general functions of the Trivalvian Armed Forces, post Nine-Day Crisis/Green Revolution, were designed a bit around RL Canadian functions. I.E. Home defense, and overseas peacekeeping / low impact operations.

As far as infantry is concerned, structuring will be similar to Canadian forces in terms of administration. Canadian forces tend to group 4 battalions of infantry into a regiment for administrative purposes. E.G. The Royal Canadian Regiment has three battalions that are part of an active brigade group, while a fourth battalion is part of the RCR as reserves.

Hm... given Trivalvian history, I would probably say that the first ten brigade groups - reserves and active forces - would probably be descended from military forces of the original two countries (Trivalvia and Bivalvia). Unit names would be inherited without any major changes.

Bump. ORBAT has been updated to account for all current ships in the Trivalvian Navy. I used Wanderjar's ORBAT as a guide on how to list my navy; hope you don't mind ;)

I was wondering if you'd mind giving me a hand on my own ORBAT actually, I'm looking to massively expand and develop my forces after the current conflict is over and I have very little experience with military organisation despite being on NS for over a year now.

Oh, and Trivalvia, I was wondering if you would be able to sell me some of those lovely Phalanx area defence vessels you designed. Also, do you have specs on the Longsword? I need to find a new battleship since Pudu's Dauntless Class ships are about to be wiped off the map.

To Trivalvia,

You have a formidable military force. You have many capabilities in the battlefield, and would be great at defending yourself!

The United Republic of Shiloba would love to be allies with you.
Please telegram us.

All: Geez, all of this flattery is going to go to my head if you don't watch out :D

Naasha: Sale of actual ships will be a problem right now as all my shipyards are currently working to beef up my fleet. However, I believe a sale of the design specifications for your shipyards to work with would be possible. I don't have a storefront (partly the Trivalvian reluctance to put weapons on the open market, and partly because I just don't have the time :p ) but I'm sure we can arrange something.
