Your Nation's Religion

Alfegos
02-09-2007, 10:40
In Alfegos, there is no official religion, supported by 88.1 % of the population declaring themselves agnostic.

However, 1.9 % of people still follow the religion of Fegosism.

Followers worship the goddess of the forests, Feg'raia, and marvel at all her works in the world. They are usually environmentalists. They believe in natural balance, and as such only eat organic food. Their voices have lead to less intrusive mining operations and the reduction of the wasteland after mining in Milkavich.

Of the remaining 10 % of the population, 7.1 % say they are Agnostic, 2.8 % say they are eastern orthodox christian and the remaining 0.1% are minorities such as Islam, Judaism and Hinduism.
The Charr
02-09-2007, 10:49
93% of Tyria - that is, every single member of the Charr species - follows the tenets and beliefs of Charrian Fire Worship (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Charrian_Fire_Worship). The remaining 7% are humans, and 4% follow Tyrianism, with the remaining 3% being either agnostic or atheist.

My nation has a few saints: Cliff Burton, Randy Rhoads, Kurt Cobain and Dimebag Darrell. There are no gods to worship as such, but the saints must be revered, and the music created by these saints is sacred.

Disco is banned, by the way, due to its blasphemous nature.
Nova Boozia
02-09-2007, 11:02
Boozians have a constitutionally enshrined freedom of religioun and are quite diverse. Many people were dissillusioned with dogmatic faith after the break-away from the Imperium of Man, but Abrahamic religiouns, which are famously comforting and fast-spreading, enjoy a growing support base. These, along with an almost religious devotion to secularism, are the main ones. The population can be broken down thus:

"Active" athiests, devoted secularists, etc: 54%

Abrahamics: 37% (Of these about half Christians, a third Jews, and a sixth Muslims. The governemnt has not yet altered the census to specify denominations)

Others (a whole range of stuff): 9%
Zintharia
02-09-2007, 11:12
In the USSZ the population is 94% atheist, that is, people who believe in absolutely no chance of a god or divine being. 5% are agnostic: they believe in the possibility of a divine being. .5% of the population believe in an eastern religion such as buddhism, taoism. .5% believe in a western religion, such as christianity or judaism.

being mostly atheist, the only real important figures are national heroes, whom painters often portray in socialist realism style painting.
Kahanistan
02-09-2007, 11:40
Kahanistan's current religious distribution is roughly 25% Jewish (5% Orthodox), 10% Catholic, 10% other Christian, 10% Muslim, 25% atheist, 10% Satanist, 10% other.

With numerous conflicts, invasions, etc. many people are losing faith in their deity or deities, a few are making nominal conversions to Catholicism in order to be spared by the Doomani, anti-Catholicism (caused in large part by anti-Doomanism) is driving others to hide their faith or convert to other Christian denominations, and the number of atheists is increasing. Jewish and to a lesser extent Islamic nationalism are increasing as a response. The government is having difficulty suppressing sectarian conflict, leaning heavily on current external wars to do so, which actually worsens anti-Catholic sentiment even though violence is going down as a result of harsh government reprisals.

Note that these figures are rounded to the nearest whole number.

About 62% of the population are Christians with 41% being protestant, 33% being Orthodox Catholic, and 28% being Roman Catholic. The Roman and Orthodox churches are beggning to pull from the nation after the government's decision to begin drawing tax revenue from religious organizations.

About 20% of the population is Agnostic or Aetheist

Recently there has been a resergence in paganism and about 8% of the population worships the old Greek Pantheon and this number is beggining to grow.

About 6% of the population worships the current ruler, Benard I known as Saint Benard around the nation. Worship of the monarch is not an uncommon occurance in the nation but these figures are larger than expected.

The remaining 4% belong to islam, judiasm, and other smaller religions.
Weccanfeld
02-09-2007, 12:21
Weccanfeld prides itself on its secular leanings, however a great deal of the population do follow region.

About 41% follow Russian Orthodox, 32% Calvinism, 12% Traditional Weccanfelt Beliefs, 10% Other Beliefs, and the remaining 5% are self proclaimed Agnostics. There are few true atheists in Weccanfeld, however.
Merephos

0.6% are Sikhs,
0.2% are Muslims,

Zaktaria
02-09-2007, 12:41
99%-100% of the population of Zaktaria believe that the Emperor is a god and the creator of the Zaktarian race. 0.0%-1% is a mix of different religions, the number of heretics is uncertain because of the purge of "unpure" races.

No one born as a pure Zaktarian believe or have ever believed in anyone else than the Emperor after all he is the one true god for the Zaktarians.

Skibereen
02-09-2007, 13:05
Because my nation's long held tradition of open borders to immigration the religious community is high diverse.
Atheism is essentially non-existant in Skibereen as most people who have doubt in the Divine simply take the more the logical route of Agnostic, whihc typically results in attending various religious services as they relate to one's culture for the social aspect as opposed to the spiritual one.

That being said, Christianity is the largest religion Skibereen, however the baseline Christianity is a little known faith of Skibereenian Orthodoxy(at a glance it seems very catholic, however under close scrutiny one finds it to be decidely not catholic--from married priests to no acknowledgment of papal authority) along with this particular brand of Christianity one finds sects highly influenced by Islam, Hindu, various Afro-Caribbean faiths, Animism, Dualism, essentially in Skibereen one will find a cloister of just about any faith.

The large mix of demographic lines in Skibereen for such an extended period of time has developed a tolerance and truly acceptance of things not like--
Racism and atypical religious bigotry are not found. However lack of courtesy is often reason enough(legally as well) to find one's self with a cut throat or a bullet in the brain.

Religious fueding imported into Skibereen can occasionally pop up, and this too is generally ignored until it spills over to people who have no dog in that fight as it were. At which the community tends to handle the situation.

Hanen Mahargonk
02-09-2007, 13:31
The government of Hanen Mahargonk has long felt taking a nationwide census to be a waste of resources (mostly for the fact that the citizens wouldn't bother doing it). Therefore we have no official records indicating the spread of religion in our country.
Noveta
02-09-2007, 13:33
Before the Novetan Revolution that led it becoming an independent entity on 10 July of this year, over 50% of the population professed a belief in religion, specifically Christianity of the Roman Catholic variant.

However, with the events of the Novetan Revolution and the actions of the Roman Catholic church in conjunction with our French-speaking colonial masters, the population began to drift towards a more pronounced Atheistic stance, with the amount of people who declared themselves to be Atheist jumping from over 50% of the Novetan population in 1990 to over 95% in 2007, now being the predominant majority of the population of Noveta.

The majority of Sumerian citizens, 76%, still follow the beliefs of their ancestors which have been passed down for thousands of years. The religious beliefs have been so ingrained into the culture of Sumer that it flows through every sector, and foreign and minority religions within Sumer have been forced to adapt to coexist. The government, although constitutionally secular in it's ruling approaches, is deeply involved with the religious structure of the culture, and religion is considered an important part of life.

The Sumerian structure of faith encompasses numerous gods and goddesses who are believed to hold divine power, but are not looked at in the same was as Abrahamic gods. In Sumer the gods and goddesses are people to, they lead lives, participate in the culture, life, fight, make freinds, have children, all told through the myth and stories that exist within both the temple and the schools. Each city has it's own patron god or goddess, and that city usually has the largest and most prestigious temple to that god or goddess. Smaller temples exist inside all cities for other gods and goddesses, allowing people to worship who they wish for what they need, as well as multi-god temples which cater to all. Additionally families will adopt a family god or goddess based on their nature, a family who's main sustinance is from the military will often worship Inanna as a family, for example, or those who survive from construction might worship Ki. Actively trying to gain converts is a national crime for all religions, allowing people to choose what they wish to believe, and with the strong restrictions on immigration the balance usually remains as it is. Additionally, to ensure the survival of the temples and the belief system as a whole the government supports a paramilitary system of Temple Guard units which support the regular military in both times of war and peace.

The second most numerous religious practice is that of the Carribean people of the Taino, who joined the Dictorial Republic eight centuries ago. While only 14% of the population of Sumer practice this faith, it is unique in being the first, and so far only, people and their religion to join the Dictorial Republic through peaceful means. And as such no forced conversions have occured prior to the codification of the non-Proselytism laws. Because of this, and the nature of the Taino faiths as a whole, there has been a gradual merging of the Taino faith within the greater Sumerian beliefs, which soon may remove any seperation between the two.

Abrahamic religions make up the minority, with a maximum of 9% of the population at any one time claiming to be followers of these faiths. Most of those who claim an Abrahamic faith are either non-practicing, or are first generation immigrants. Often the numbers are hard to keep track of as second or third generation immigrats opt to join the cultural norm and change over to the more popular faiths. Although there are small numbers of faithful groups within the Abrahamic religions, and their existance is throughly backed by the state. Islam is by far the largest of these sects, with approxemetly 4% of the population claiming Islamic religious tradition at any time. Islam also holds the distinction of being the only Abrahamic religion to maintain a group of ethnicly Sumerian people within the Abrahamic religion, with Christianity and Judaeisim making up 2% and 3% respectivly of the population, but being almost entirely immigrant peoples.

Coscivian Theism is the largest Kiravian religion. It is unique to nations that were once part of the Coscivian Empire. It has thousands of denominations, and shares many values and teachings with Christianity. It is generally monothesitic, but some denominations have other gods. Life forces and spirits are a key beleif of Theism.

Christianity and its offshoots make up 20% of the population. They are an important and active part of our society, and many Christian organizations have brought good social and intellectual developments to the Empire.

"Paganism" is quite common, and encompasess Wicca, Animism, Elementalism, Druidism, Shamanism, Shinto-esque, and numerous other faiths.

New Age and Alternative religions, like Humanism, Unitarianism, and the like come in next.

about 1% of the population is Agnostic, with a few atheists hovering around.

"Other" is mostly Sikhs, Jains, Jews, Spiritualists, and Zoroastrians.
Errikland
03-09-2007, 02:09
The vast majority of Errikans are Christian (over 90%), and the vast majority of them are Errikan Christians, members of a denomination that originally grew out of Errikan (relative) seperation from Europe in the early middle ages.

The largest minority religion is Judism, which several percent of the population follows. They came to Errikland in large numbers (also beginning in the middle ages) due to Errikan tolerance of them starkly contrasting to their treatment elsewhere. However, in later years, their numbers have been falling, beginning with notable emigration starting with the formation of Israel in 1948 and accelerating with the formation of the first true Jewish state in Mucro (Israel beth Israel), which has led to large scale emigration.

There are also notable numbers of agnostics and others.

The PeoplesFreedom

Christianity dominates TPF, with Protestants being the majority but also with a healthy grouping of Catholics. There is a large grouping of Muslims in the Southwestern states, which are semi-autonomous. Most business' are closed on Sundays, and church services usually last three hours or more. Sinful things, such as pornography and brothels, are always being hunted down, but there is a black market for them. It is against the law to blaspheme in certain areas, and until recently some areas it was illegal not to go to church, although the Supreme Court overturned this. Gay marriage is illegal, and it is dangerous to proclaim yourself openly gay. It is common for high schoolers to go on one or two missions during their summers to overseas nations. If you are an atheist or agnostic, it is difficulty to get a job and even a little dangerous to openly proclaim you are one. Finally, although there are not that many, Jews are welcome in most places.

The predominant religion in Ra-Horakty is Kemeticism, with an overwhelming 92% of the population ascribing to it. Kemeticism is the state-sponsored religion, and plays a major part in the every day lives of the populace. 5.8% of the population proclaim to be atheist or agnostic. There is also a small Muslim community, which holds the faith of 2.1% of the population. Minor pockets of Christianity, Judaism and Sikhism make up the remaining 0.1% of the population (which sounds like a small figure, but it actually consists of 6,846,000 people).

Though there is no restriction on belief, and one may openly declare one's faith for an alternative religion to Kemeticism (or none at all), the Ra-Horakty government does not generally authorise the construction of churches within there national borders, nor is public evangelism tolerated. Of course, if one were to host religious discussions in the privacy of one's home, that is another matter.

4% Are Mormon (Because of the rate that this is growing in Kurona, it's been counted as a category all it's own, as opposed to being included with Christianity or Christian off shoots)
