Commissioned by Consul James Azzopardi in response to the Kraven threat, the Kensington-class battleship serves as the People's Sovereign Navy's primary, medium-sized dreadnought.

CLM-01 Common Laser Module

Originally designed as an upgrade of the ZM-06 MANPLAD, design studies showed that semiconductor lasers weren't able to maintain enough power to do so. Adaptive optics and processor cores were added to the system and still it did not perform to PROJECT ORCHID's specifications for a long range, common laser module.

A Yttrium solid state laser with frequency doubling solved the problem, and the CLM-01 Common Laser Module was born. A combination of both an upgraded ZM-06 MANPLAD and a Yttrium solid state laser, the CLM-01 would switch between them depending on the situation.

For ranges between 0-7km for Blinding bursts of light on 4 different wavelengths, an array of 4 ZM-06 MANPLADs would fire simultaneously. Using new adaptive optics and a central processing core to control the adaptive optics can send man and machine blinding blasts of energy downrange.

Meant to be applied against small boats, dazzle nearby ship's optical systems, or as a last minute defense against light homing weapons, it can disorient people or devices equally well with a series of 15 mW blasts.

For larger work at up to 50km for temporary blindness, enough to disorient people on nearby beaches, or to confuse missiles at long range, there is a grid of 30 solid state lasers which pulse at 5 Hz to prevent excessive thermal damage to the larger grid. Firing up to 100mW pulses in up to 20 different tunable frequencies from far infrared to ultraviolet.

Maximum range (blinding): 7-18km
Maximum range (temporary blinding): 20-50km
Power requirements: Draws large amount of power, generator power required.

OOC: I would recommend mounting this with the CIWS systems and on some turrets. As defensively this can really blind missiles, and offensively, it can dazzle jet pilots, helicopter pilots, and nearby ships.

The Vetalian Navy would like to purchase an initial group of 20 of these battleships for testing in our command fleets. In addition, we would like to discuss purchasing domestic production rights for the future use of this battleship in our entire fleet, should it prove to be superior to the battleships we already have in service. The cost for this purchase would be $42 billion dollars, in addition to whatever costs the Londinian government charges for domestic production rights.

These payments will be handled by the Ministry of Defense and will be transferred as the ships are received. Payment for production rights will be given upon approval of the DPR purchase.

Q. How do you get 5 guns?

Otherwise, its okay. Not bad, not great. A little overarmed for my liking (I like to give my crews decent living quarters) and also quite underdetailed but there's nothing really outstanding wrong with it past the number of main and secondary guns.

1) Leaf, a displacement of 100kt is just REALLY REALLY FUCKING LOW for a ship that size, you're looking 1,000,000 tons displacement.
