A History of Magic
by...

"Whether it be a book, a parchment, a scroll, or just a scrap of paper, the ink it holds tells the tales of our history and the holds the vastness of our knowledge. While everything that has been created, thought, or said aloud is recorded in the vaults of the Ministry, it is only those who have ventured to record and interpret our stories that have been both immortalized in history and an immortalizer of history...

[OOC: This a thread, not for interactive RPing, but for writing about histories. You can write about anything so long as it fits in the reality of the world. It could be about the Blood Wars, about Exeter Academy, about the Ministry, and especially about your own character's families. If you are ever bored and waiting for someone to reply in the Main IC thread, think about jumping over here and writing a story. Post questions in the Main OOC (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=537142) thread.]

The Blood Wars:

Throughout the ages of magic their has been forever the presence of radicals of whom they sought to preserve the true heritage that spans directly back to the very days the first wizards and witches appear, they being of direct descent from the ones of old represent the oldest community in the world of Magic. As such, they have represented a key element in the shaping of the world of magic.

Yet, the lines of pure bloods have diverged over time as people of non-magical descent have married those of pure descent. These marriages caused an outrage amongst the pure bloods kin and they thus exiled them from their midst from the world of Magic as they saw this as an outrage. For though those capable of using magic and had married non-magics had been exiled, it did not mean that their children would be unable to use magic as the pure blood fanatics had believed. Infact, those born to them were just as capable of using magic as their parents were.

As the two communties eventually meet due to the fact that those who possesed non-magical blood grew in number as they married each other and non-magics, all the while having children of using magic to a great due to them inheriting the skill from their parents. On the other spectrum the pure bloods grew relatively slowly and could not keep up to the pace of growing numbers of the non-pure blooded community.

For years tensions rose between the two communties as those of non-pure blood grew in number and that laid the foundations for the upcoming wars...

More to come....

The Picketts are one of the most unknown, and ancient wizarding families around, they are a pureblood family. They oddly enough fought against other purebloods in the Blood War, they have produced some muggles though, as evidence by General George Pickett, there most famous muggle. The most distingushed wizard was Henry Pickett who was said to have been a great wizard, and was rumored to have trained from somebody who trained from somebody who trained from Merlin himself!, his animagus was a Chimera, which was a sign of a rare and great wizard in the Pickett family.

They were a military family, lots of family members became Aurors, and there were a few with Metamorph powers even. John's great grandfather was one, and he was a Curse Breaker. Picketts by tradition, have been in Draco, but John hopes to change that.

The name Shackleford is synonymous in the Wizarding world with "eccentric". The Shacklefords have never conformed to the status quo.

The earliest recorded Shackleford, Erik the Obscene, was a renowned nudist. He was also a great adventurer, living among the wild beasts and discovering various herbs. Unfortunately, Erik's career was cut short when he ventured into dragon country without armor or any type of clothing. In Erik's home village of Witherbough, there is a nude statue of him, and it is at this site where Shackleford family reunions are held.

Other famous Shacklefords include James the Queer, a flamboyant cross-dressing pirate who only robbed women of their dresses and jewels. There is also Agatha Shackleford, notable for being the first to find medicinal uses for Troll boogers. More recently, Agatha's son Rodney has made a name for himself as Slash Shackleford, the drummer for Toil'N'Trouble.

The Shulz family name actually stems back to a muggle grandmother who refused to give up her name at marriage. She married a wizard who is supposedly the descendant of Merlin's brother, who was fortunate only because Merlin rescued him on more than one attempt due to his own idiocy with a wand and oversized mouth. Those traits are now gone from the family, except for general clumsiness. They have taken part in the Wizarding wars, but rarely battling, preferring to gather information and aid in making decisions to help those defending those of non-pureblood status.

Parents have generally encouraged their children, and as such they have risen to great heights in the wizarding world (Agathina Alquist even becoming the second Mistress of Magic), but have managed to hold on to their values and sense of family. Having a family reunion generally consists of the oldest members talking to each other then sending invitations down to their children. The family in general though is fairly lucky and that is what tends to save them from their own forgetfulness.

Tobias is the son of Danlyssa and Albert Schulz who have taken up their own roles in their world and hope that one day their son will do the same. He has an older sister (Michaela) who is rising fast through the levels of the Department of International Magical Cooperation despite being only 21. Tobias also has two younger siblings who are twins and menaces (Lizabeth and Darin) who are twins age 8 going on 4.

(for those wondering why no spouse is listed for Agathina but her name is different, her husband died while she was in office and she simply kept James' name.)

Known all around the wizarding world as "the loudest band in the land", Toil 'N' Trouble is probably one of the most popular bands in the wizarding world to date. Banned from playing in no less than seven countries, the band has no doubt made a major impact on the wizarding world.

The dream started when drummer Rodney Shackleford, later known as Slash Shackleford invited guitarist Albus "Hydra" Hemsley to jam with him at Shackleford's parent's house in 1968. The duo had attended Exter Academy, where they had subsequently been expelled for neglecting their studies. After the jam session, which Hemsley described as "the most magical thing since Merlin", the two decided to form a band. The demonic duo held auditions for the remaining members of their band.

Next to be recruited was bassist Apollo Salaris. Salaris would serve as the band's bassist until his untimely death in 1981 as a result of a pryotechnics accident.

Finally the band found it's missing piece. Vocalist Nero Blackstone filled the final gap. While Blackstone was instrumental in the band's success, deep rivalry opened up between him and Shackleford. The two were on opposite ends on political matters, with Shackleford being a Muggle supporter and Blackstone a pure-blood fanatic. Also, both were media darlings. Shackleford was a notorious partyer and Blackstone was infamously attractive. The two constantly fought over the media's attention by partying harder and engaging in graver acts of depravity. However, together the two wrote many of the band's hits such as "I Cursed your Mama", and "Leaking Cauldrons".

Over the course of the next several years, the band reached god-like status. They were infamous for enchanting their amps to play "past eleven". A concertgoer once described their playing as "more devastating than a muggle nuclear blast". They played concert after concert, laying waste to eardrums all around the world.

Unfortunatley, the golden years of Toil 'N' Trouble would come to an end when Slash Shackleford met Shelly Gaines. Gaines was a Muggle-born fortuneteller, and had met at one of Toil 'N' Trouble's appearances at Wizapalooza. The two were entranced with each other, and the media ate the two up. However, Nero Blackstone did not take it so well. He described Gaines as a "filthy Mud-Blood slag" in a music magazine interview. Years of rivalry finally blew up after this remark. Shackleford challenged Blackstone to a duel, which Shackleford won. Blackstone subsquently quit the band, and went off on his own.

Toil 'N' Trouble survives to this day, however hardcore fans of the band admit nostolgia for the old days of the Blackstone/Shackleford writing team. Shackleford and Hemsley still tour together, replacing Salaris with Arthur Gradbocker on bass and Shackleford and Hemsley sharing vocal duties.

Blackstone formed his own band, The Draconis Trio, and has become notorious for his Anti-Muggle views. He has been implicated in several anti-muggle terroism plots, of which he was found innocent. He has also been seen often with vampires.

OOC:I plan on having Blackstone involved in the Pure-Blood fanatics thread.
