The Dragon Flies [Closed: WoM]

For as long as there have been the wars of blood purity, so has existed the Order of the Last Dragon. Working in the shadows, without being responsible to any larger community or reporting to any higher authority, the Order has fought against the growing sentiment that purity of blood made someone somehow better. Most importantly, it worked to combat the Pure Blood Inquisitors that led the wars, the subversion and infiltration of the Ministry, and the killing of innocent people, magical and non-magical.

However, as the Pure Blood Fanatics are inevitably defeated, even if it takes a decade or more, the Order's members return to their normal lives, leaving the Order to survive in vacancy. Small in number and limited to those who are pure of heart in their intentions, the Dragons meet and reform when the rising tide once again threatens the peace that exists.

They have no true headquarters, instead choosing to meet at various members' homes, and no true leader. All of the members are of great respect, and though generally not the most prominent members of the wizarding world, they are powerful in their own right and mind.

With stirrings of unease rising, the members begin to communicate...

[OOC: This is the thread for the Order of the Last Dragon, which is basically the Anti-Inquisitor and Anti-Pure Blood movement. Members are not restricted to any level of blood purity, but it is small in number. This if not for students, but rather for older members of the wizarding community. You can RP your character's family member(s) or just a random person as being a member. As noted above, they don't have a super powerful character like Dumbledore, and they don't really have the backing of the Ministry (sometimes they even bump heads), so they have to be refined in their actions and well planned. Even the war mounts, the Order will remain small, unlike the Inquisition, so they must be wary of any attempts at power. Unlike the Fanatics, they don't really have a main headquarters. At the moment, sensing disturbances in the magical population, and a rise in strange occurrences (perpetrated by the Inquisition and sympathizers), the members will begin communicating with each other and discussing the world and what to do, if anything. If you have any questions, post them in the Main OOC (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=537142) thread.]

Rodney "Slash" Shackleford could barely believe the newspaper in front of him. Gangs of Muggles brutally killing members of the Wizarding community? The idea was proposterous.

"It gets worse," Arthur "Hydra" Hemsley muttered. The best friends sat across from each other in Hemsley's vast living room. When Hemsley had read the paper this morning, he had sent an owl to Shackleford right away. Within a few hours, Shackleford had appeared in Hemsley's fire place via Floo powder.

Shackleford sighed, rubbing his forehead. Times were changing, that's for sure. He had just turned forty, and goddamnit, he felt it. Hell, if it weren't for dye, Shackleford reckoned that his green moehawk would probably show signs of grey. In many ways, Shackleford resembeled his son Aggy. Both had rich, brown eyes, both had that Shackleford chin, and of course, both had that classic grin of mischief.

Hemsley shook his large black mane of hair. A lanky, gaunt man, Hemsley's body was covered in tatoos. To add to his awkward physique, his hands and feet were huge, and would probably be excellent fodder for a certain Muggle joke. When he spoke, he did so softly and at times incoherently, but these occasions were not often.

"This has Nero written all over it," Hemsley mumbled.

"Eh," Shackleford grunted in agreement.

For the last ten years the two had not only toured the world as rock stars, they were also involved in the Order of the Last Dragon. The two were convinced to join by Alexander Barbelanc, who had served as their Charms teacher during their short stint at Exeter.

Even though the two men hadn't finished school, both of them knew the political ramifications of this murder. The death of Mapel Olivery would provide the blood purists with an obscene amount of fodder. The pure-blood bigots had always been tolerated, but not many seriously bought into their arguments. However, now with actual conflict, the Muggle and Wizarding worlds were in for one hell of a ride.

"I'll send an owl to Barbelanc mate, we gotta get the Order together.." Shackleford rushed off.

Professor Alexander Sagieux Barbelanc, Headmaster of Exeter Academy and member of the Order of the Last Dragon, was sitting at his regal desk in the office that had transcended generations of wizards. A light tapping on the glass window alerted him to the presence of a messenger owl. The appearance of the owl immediately gave away its sender as Rodney Shackelford, a fellow member of the Order and an eccentric wizard to boot.

No doubt he's heard of Mapel Olivery's unfortunate death, he thought with a sense of pity. Upon reading the brief message, his suspicions were confirmed.

He tossed the messenger owl a treat as he took a quill from his desktop and scribbled a quick response.

Slash,

I fear you may indeed be right. It has been too long for our opposition to have remained quiet. I suggest you contact our fellow members and set up a meeting at your house.

As Slash read the response from Barbelanc, he sighed. He knew there was going to be trouble in the times ahead. In the old days, he would have been excited. Back then, it would have been a grand adventure with danger and action. Now he was a father, and his heart was filled with dread.

His children were both safe, Aggy was at school and Persephone, his youngest, was with her mother, safe in the Muggle world. Looking back, Slash had been a horrible father. He had never really been a real dad. Sure, he would always take his children around the world with him, but he had never been responsible. He wasn't a father to them, he was more of a friend, and he regretted it. Aggy had loved the concert scene, the drinking, the parties, the loud shows. Persephone however, she was her mother's child. She was always more intrested in the history of the places they visited, the languages and customs of the locals.

Slash rubbed his head, maybe he was too old to be so stupid. He was almost middle-aged, but had been living the life of a teenager all of these years. Thats probably why Shelly, the mother of his children, had left him all of those years ago...

Slash shook the thoughts out of his head. He couldn't focus on that at a time like this. He would be responsible, he would be an adult.

Calling his owl to him, he attached the following letter

Members of the Order,

No doubt you can feel the first drops of the storm that is coming. Come to my home tonite at 8:00. We must discuss this.

-Shackleford

The owl was sent to all current members of the Order. Slash prepared his house for company..
