Are you sure you don't want more land? You have so little of it your IP might start off in bankrucpy. If not it will certainly be in depression.

OOC: Antigonal: If you believe that a country could be classed as bankrupt simply because it is not as large as all the others, then I must opine that either your terminology or system are flawed.

A country may be small in comparison to others, while still comfortably rich, industrialised or equipped in local terms.

New Brittonia: Um. Nope.

It just doesn't seem fair to me that a nation with a miniscule economy is would be allowed to take on massive empires with a strong one. There has to be some level of comparrison. Why don't you want more land?

OOC: The world is made of both large and small nations. The large prey upon the small with ease, and the small must use every mote of guile and cunning, skill and persistence that they possess in order to succeed.

This also means they are more rewarding to play as, when it goes your way.

I'll tip the odds in your favor anyway I can. I'll give you a lot of favorable events (see Events Thread) and try to give you a little extra IP than what is probably fair.

Okay, as long as you understand your IP will be low. I'm sorry but if you're gonna play on the international stage you gotta live up to the same standards as the big boys.

Do you want Macedonia and/or Albania? The last guy who played the Balkans had them along with Thrace and Greece.
The Michiyo Empire
01-09-2007, 18:25
I've got them listed. When I first said that I'd like to use Greece, I said all the orange territory west of the Bosphorus Strait - the strait connecting the Black Sea to the Mediterranean. That included Albania and Macedonia.

And not to forget, a lot of western Turkey.

Here's your IP (repost it above):

Albania: 24
Macedonia: 30
Greece: 49
Thrace: 34
Western Anatolia: 52

TOTAL IP: 169

(this means you are currently in a depression, apart from your free railroad you can't build railroads or canals and you can't make colonies, build fleets, or new troops)
The Michiyo Empire

Anatolia, not Ionia. Ionia refers to a province, Anatolia is everything east of the Bosphorus Strait. I don't claim it all, but certainly the coastal area.

I really wish I knew how you calculated that.
Antigonal
02-09-2007, 05:15
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie to you, there is no way to mathematically do it other than using the deepest, darkest depths of my mind. If you could find a good, concrete way that I approve, we could see about employing it.

Okay, here's the rest of your IP (you don't need to accept Cyprus, but I gave it's IP anyway):

Crimea - 13
Cyprus - 18

TOTAL IP (added to original 169) - 200 (which means you are juuuust in depression).

I really don't understand why you keep saying that I'm in a depression. Per person, I actually have a greater IP than you.

The French Empire has a population of 54,409,280, and an IP of 550. This means you have about 5 IP per million people.

The Kingdom of Greece has a population of 11,975,305, and an IP of 200. This means I have 16.6 IP per million people.

If one of us is in a depression, it certainly isn't me.

That's a very interesting method, I like it. I'm wondering if it would be too hard to reformat the game right now to do it like that.

But at the same time your Industrial Potential isn't the wealth of your citizens, it's the wealth of your goverment and it's ability to build industry and compete on the world stage.

Maybe in small numbers, I'd have to thing about that. But if he gets one more IP point he's out of depression.

Maybe Greece would like to buy HMS Gladstone a 110 gun warship of the line? Dirt cheap, steam power, muzzle loaders, the full works!

Yeah, I was kinda waiting for the diplo with Toop to finish, but it looks like that's going to take a long time. I'll see if I can make a draft today.
