Allanean Automotive Designers Descend to New, Unprecedented Levels of Madness!

Dragon X V2.0

First, there was the DragonX.

It was the craziest thing that Allanean automotive designers had ever done. They have taken a car designed be a perfect external imitation of 1928 Duesenberger automobile (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v42/allanea/allanean%20arms/DUESENBERG_J_1928_01_1024.jpg). They rebuilt it almost precisely to spec, except we replaced everything we could with modern, lightweight materials. They also added a modern universal vehicle computer and safety systems to the vehicle – ABS and seatbelts, for instance.

And then they put a goddamn tank engine in it.

The DragonX originally carried a Nakil engine, pumping out an immense 1,702 horsepower. It was a luxury car like no other, capable of pumping out a top speed of 250 miles per hours and costing up to one and a half million dollars.

But for the deranged Allaneans, that wasn’t enough. They found out about the Guarita ( http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=527629) engine – a 2,000 hp, lightweight, fuel-efficient monstrosity. Of course, ‘fuel efficient’ is a relative term, given that is IS an IFV engine – but it still allowed the Allaneans to cut the weight of the vehicle by over a ton. It would have been cut even more, but they decided to instead expand the fuel tanks, improving the range of the new DragonX. And, given the new engine is extremely cheap – the DragonX now costs less money!

Yes, it is not exactly fuel-conservant. But on the up-side, it will eat any fuel at all – alcohol, biodiesel, SVO, whatever you dump in it – and will take you to speeds you have never dreamed of before.

And yes: We thank our Sumerian colleagues for allowing us to use the Guarita.

Sales/Year:

Varek Drury Brieres: 300,000
Calizornistan: 250,000
Pan-Arab Barronia: 200,000
Allanea: 180,000
Derscon: 20,000
Ra-Horakty: 20,000
Western Ariddia: lots
OOC: Not a storefront. As usual, state sales of this car per year in your nation. Obviously, these'd be quite low compared to sane car. Also, anybody want to draw it?

And I assume the sales numbers from the original Dragon X will carry over for this monster, if your nation will stop buying them, please inform me.

Greal would like to buy 100,000 of these new cars.

OOC, again, read my original post, this is not a storefront. Just state how many of those would sell in your nation per annum.

NOBLES LOVE LOONY CARRIAGE

A new foreign vehicle marketed to lunatics has seen moderate success in Ra-Horakty, with an estimated 5,500 units being sold within the first quarter. While this sales figure may appear low, this is a vehicle with the power of two thousand horses, fuel consumption higher than a space rocket and a price tag that beats either one of these analogies.

Who is buying such a senseless carriage?

Nobles and businessmen all across Ra-Horakty are investing(?) their considerable riches into the Allanean-manufactured Dragon X V2.0 in droves. Reportedly, few are actually driving these vehicles after having purchased them, and they are instead adding them to collections, or merely flaunting them as indicators of social status.

Nomarch Ikui, nomarch of the Southern Heliopolis Nome and noted carriage enthusiast, was amongst the first Ra-Horakty citizens to part with their currency in exchange for a Dragon X V2.0. When asked, he said, "Drive it? Why would I drive it? I have a chauffeur and a limousine for that. This is a status symbol, something to show off at parties, and that is that. I would not drive something this expensive..."

Analysts predict that sales will remain consistent for the rest of this year, with potentially 22,000 units being sold, before dropping off sharply in following years.

Victor Cecil XXVIII, Marquess of the Blue Isle, auro enthusiast, wishes to purchase one luxury version of the Dragon X 2,0 car.

OOC: @All: Cecil loves cars, just think Jay Leno but with the money of the monarch of an entire country.

You do realize that even with 2k at the crank, which translates to about 1600rwhp, there is no way a vehicle that ways three tons is going to hit 255 mph. And if it does, it won't be doing any time in the short side of a minute...?

And a 16.3L H6? With dual twin screws. Wow, zero to sixty in a second, sixty to one hundred in about three minutes. Whats the square of the motor? And it redlines at 3000rpm? Christ. Screw an 8 speed, with a 3k rpm redline, your gonna need a 15speed just to get above sixty, unless this thing revs like a dead pig.

Why not?

I know for a fact that there is a car out there that weigh 1888 kilograms (nealy two tons) and has a 1001 hp engine and gets up to 250 MPH. Here, the weight/horsepower ratio is actually better.

It is possible to hit that speed, but its not going to be any time on the short side of a minute. Hell, it might take a few. But I'd just love to see some aero coeffiency charts on a Duesy. And its more than just power to weight, that only really handles dead stop acceleration. Up top, it requires power, low weight, gearing, proper rev range, aerodynamics, properly sized wheels and tires, etc.

200mph is nothing to joke about. Very, very, very few cars can hit that mark stock. The Suzuki Hayabusa and Kawasaki ZX-14 can barely, and I really mean barely, break that number stock.

Oh, and the car you have here has a ratio of 3.9 (3.88)pounds per horsepower. The Veyron has a wieght to power ratio of 4 pounds per horsepower. From someone who has done far more than his fair share of racing, I can say that unless your running drag gearing on some slicks with good power and a proper 1/4mile set up...thats not noticable at all. Also...what is the power band of this car? At what RPM does it achieve maximum wheel numbers for both HP and TQ? How long does it stay in the power band?

Oh, and these questions are a mix of both OOC and IC.

OOC: I have no idea. Bear in mind this is not designed as a race car, and I would call you suicidally insane if you raced in it. It is designed to be a really expensive car for really rich people and car fanatics. The only places where it's top speed - which, yes, cannot be reached fast - is useful are going to be places like Allanea's Strategic Highways or something like that, thousands and thousands of kilometers of road designed for no-speed-limit driving.

Repeat, no practical use exists for this car.

Sales in Vojvodina-Nihon are estimated at 1 car. It was bought by an eccentric wealthy man who took it apart to figure out how it works, and is currently making slightly inferior (top speed of 'only' a little under 200 MPH) pirated versions using cheaper labour and selling them for half the price of the original. Yes, the pirated versions do tend to fall apart if you kick them too hard, and some of them come unpainted or without any of the luxury features, but hell.... it's 50% off the manufacturer's price!!!

[OOC: lol, Veyron 16.4

And Imi knows about his cars.]
