Truthfully, the Conservatives and the Nationalist party had dominated Prussian politics for more than fifty years. For its early history, TPF had had a multitude of different parties, but they had consolidated into these two main ones after the “rape” of TPF. And, how could they blame them? After all, more than thirty percent of the population being killed off by communist savages had promoted extremism that still hadn’t disappeared. It was because of this that the new Christian Socialist Party had to tread carefully. Led by a charismatic man named Alfred Long, they had gone from a fringe party to a leading contender following the outbreak of new wars. He simple reminded the people of the dozens of unneeded wars that they had gotten themselves involved in, and reminded them of all the money that could be spent on education and welfare if given the chance. Even the thought of welfare was enough to make the conservatives and nationalists cringe, as well as the numerous laws that would limit the corporations’ power. They had, after all, effectively taken control of the senate, given that anti-bribery laws were ignored and not enforced. President Matt Booch was one of the few who had even a sense of morality left, but with his death the lid had been removed.
The Christian Socialist Party had numerous obstacles to overcome to become a major political force, one of which was the laws that prevented them from raising the funds needed for a massive campaign. Debra Blackman was one of the people who helped the Christian Socialist Party at a level they could win at, the grassroots level. Grassroots movements had been the saving grace of the CSP. Townhall meetings, Church meetings, and the like had given them some regions where they had a significant voting base. While Debra knew that they had candidates in almost every district, she knew that only a few had a chance of winning, but if they could win just a few, it would propel them into the national spotlight and make them a major party. She herself lived in Paradise City, a city of four million, it was one of the more depressed cities in TPF, and was a perfect place to recruit new voters.
Debra made sure to say grace to the Lord before eating her ham and eggs. It was Monday, and she had a meeting to attend at her local church, before she would take a bus into the city where a rally would take place in Rutherford Park. After washing down a large cup of coffee, she put on a coat and set off towards here church. It was a few miles away, and she took her usual route. The neighborhood she lived in was run-down, with graffiti and numerous posters dotting the walls. It was not a dangerous neighborhood, as it could have been, mainly because the people here were very devout to their religion, and the fact that so many former soldiers lived here and kept their guns. The last crook that had tried to rob somebody had taken two bullets to the heart. The ground rumbled as the sixty-year old subway came through underneath. Soon enough, she arrived at her church, where she would meet with her activist group.
“Hello, Debra.” Said a old, grandfatherly man, named Ralph Nader. He was one of the senior leaders of her group, which numbered around seventy, most of the church congregation. He was extremely valuable to Debra because he seemed to know everything about everyone. Everyone else gave their greetings and smiles and she moved up to the projector. “Good morning, everyone. I trust that God has made it fit for everyone to be doing well today.” She was greeted by murmurs of agreement and some belches and yawns. “As you know, election is coming, and soon. Two months, ladies and gentlemen, and then the nation votes.” She brought up a map of the district, showing the various voting demographics. “As you can see, the race here is neck-and-neck. National HQ had taken a special interest in us because it can really go either way. They have asked us to kindly step it up a notch, and I intend to do it. Here’s how. We’ll step up our efforts on websites and blogs. Winning debates are key. Please, we must continue to put our posters up everywhere. Plaster them. Put dozens of them on every wall. Also, I have already talked to Jack, and he’s agreed to print three times are normal amount of newsletters, so get them out to people. Put them under their doors, in their mailboxes, and give it to them personally. Finally, we must continue to get donations. We have a lot of official fundraisers that are going on, and we have National HQ money now, but the more donations we have, the more blogs we can post, and the more posters we can print. And, if we get enough, we may have some money for some radio advertisements. So get out there, and go!” After they left, Debra sat down at one of the aging computers that churchgoers used to spread their faith. She went to Socialist International, an internet forum with members numbering in the millions, and known to be frequented by governments. She also went to a number of faith-based forums and she wrote the following message:
Times are changing in TPF. Things are changing. But for things ever truly to change, we need international support for our party. We need money and we need support of any kind that we can get. Please, sign up for our mailing list. We send out a semi-daily newsletter with all the information you need to assist us in this great endeavor. Thank you.
