This is my first IC post in the FT universe. Please, IC responses only. This is just an FT intro, so trade agreements and alliances are welcome. invasions are not. Finally, I'm not a noob, my MT nation is Nova Pictavia. And if you want to participate please take the time to look at my factbook for background on my people, it is located in my signature. Thank you.

The Incandescent Nebula Border

The final wisp of the Incandescent Nebula broke over the bow of the ISF Lyonesse (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/Retro_1989/Hiigaran_Battlecruiser.jpg). The ship's captain, Esta, stood with his hands behind his back and watched the stars unfold in front of him. The last time a ship of this size was in open-space was the time of the Great Exodus. Now the Serenitists were entering a new era. Captain Esta could feel the pride for his people swelling in his heart, and spreading to his finger-tips. His crew were the bravest souls available to the Fleet; the flagship the most glorious vessel in the entire armada. There were those who doubted the prospect of life outside the nebula, but their were none who doubted the necessity for the finest warship to endure the venture. There were many theories, some believed that the earth that was had destroyed itself, caving in its own pit of greed and consumption. They said that we were the only ones left in the galaxy.
They were wrong.

"Ensign, release the probes and notify Fleet Intelligence"

In a matter of seconds, a series of probes fled away from the Battle cruiser and disappeared into the depths of space. Each one broadcasting a message of peace and trade, each one with the potential of forging an alliance or engulfing the inner-rim in war.
Captain Esta's lips parted once more, "Begin"
Soon, the Incandescent Serenitist message echoed off the many planets of the inner-rim of the galaxy. The Serenitists had made contact.

Kupas
Dominion Space

How these probes kept getting lost in Dominion space-they were too small to be of concern to border control at the Conduit-was beyond the concern of Kupas sector authorities, but the probe being there was one thing they didn't want to deal with. The Synits before had managed to lose a probe all the way to the Void...ending with the stupid thing getting shot down and leading to a fight with the Sephs when the warrior humans had pulled out after recieving another probe. Did the new civilizations across the universe ever learn to guard their secrets?

As it was, KSA wasn't particularly in the mood to harbor in the probe-rather, to get it out of Kupasi space was the key goal. A patrol craft was on it, honing up weapons systems. A short turbolaser pulse blast was enough to knock out propulsion, and the probe-barely damaged except for the engines-went plummeting down towards the stormy water world below, a trail of reddish-yellow smoke serving as a trailing marker to light up the descent of the newest meteor.

Kupas Central was the sprawling megacity that stood upon poles reaching deep-many kilometers deep-under the kilometer-high waves that racked the entire planet. It was one of only hundreds of such giant cities-some operated soley by droids-but it was the largest. As a major genetics center-the entire planet was-the clone troopers who served as the elite warriors of the Dominion's military were bred and grown here in Kupas, primarily in Central. Droids nurtured their growth with a minimum of outside interference by other organics until they were released into the military pool to do their duty with heightened reflexes, stronger bones, tougher muscles, and more powerful minds.

But the spiraling probe, lacking intelligence, didn't need to concern itself with the breeding projects below as it hurtled through the kilometers-high storm clouds and down towards the massive city sprawl. Coming in quick, it slammed into the refined metal of Central's topside, blasting in and creating its own crater. A fire ignited, quickly extinguished by the planet's ever-driving rains, sparking from an eons-ago natural disaster. The probe had been easily spotted on entry...and five of the natives, slim, but tall and highly intelligent with long, telescopic necks, quickly moved to bring the vessel of communication inside.

Droid scan and probe quickly opened up the device and released the message. The shortness of the message was interesting enough, but apparently these people had no idea how dangerous some civilizations were. The Dominion was bad enough, a local power that could exert its aggressiveness and translate that into strength. Others were simply belligerent in every aspect-such as the Sephs, which never seemed to have enough of fighting, whether against alien races or even other humans. The "Imperium of Man" was more the "Delusions of Grandeur."

Either way, the Dominion wanted to pique the minds of these new arrivals who had sent this probe into Dominion space-by responding near exactly in kind, except with a different message. A return probe-this one armed and shielded, as to test the defenders (though not lethally-the victims would suffer some painful wounds if they went about the probe wrong, however), then a short and simple message if they passed. The original probe was not scrapped, rather, kept, in case coordinates were needed later.

The Dominion probe went out in a hypercapsule, the device moving to hyperspace to propel the considerably smaller probe vast distances in much shorter times. The trip to the indicated coordinates through the encyclopedia attached with the short message was uneventful and quick enough for the hypercapsule.

Upon entry to the respect coordinates, the hypercapsule split open, the small probe emerging. Upon emergence, the probe activated its usual attention-grabber-it detonated the hypercapsule, the vessel of transportation exploding in bright fashion and sending out a bright (visually and on sensors) wave of radiation and light. The probe also began pinging its transmission clips, simple audio blips meant to perk up ears.

As far as opening the probe would go, the openers would only need to say their respective civilization name that had been specified-and as these people had specified themselves as "Incandescent Serenity", that had been programed in as the entry device. The shield over the probe-along with a built-in baradium explosive device and electric emitter-ensured that unwanted attention would stay away if they tried the wrong way...as would dumb crewmembers from the right civilization.

The message that would greet them was short, and the only attachment was one set of coordinates.

Respond to these coordinates with a probe affirming this message if the Incandescent Serenity has confirmed first contact.

A set of one coordinate grouping-the position at the Menoon Conduit, the dense security corridor, was provided. Any sort of attack fleet, therefore, would get blown to space scrap if this was a bad form of invasion...if it was genuine, than the Dominion would be able to respond promptly.
Tidan
30-08-2007, 05:07
As fate would have it a Tidani Lorekeeper cruiser was on a tour through the Milky Way. As it monitored and listened in on the comings and goings of the galaxy. Tidan was of course located in the Aphotic galaxy now having left the turmoil and suffering that haunted them here. Still it was best not to burn all your bridges, and you never know where the next expansionists will come from. This is why Tidan still keeps an eye on what goes on here, for itself and for the sake of its friends.

The message was received and another was sent.

<Hello Incandescent Serenity, we are from the nation of Tidan. Though we do not live in your region of space, we are always interested in making new contacts. Perhaps we will have much to offer each other.>

The Skether'qan starship picked the probe up, gravitic 'sail' engines easily doubling as a tractor beam, pulling the probe in. The Haftak was not a battleship, and had sacrificed most of its firepower in return for greater speed. It did carry, however, a personage of august importance - one of the greatest of the Ethereals, Aun'O Varn Tol'ku. One of the most respected within the Tau Empire, his sagacity was only superceded by his curiosity.

"Fascinating. Absolutely fascinating. Kor'el, I wish to visit these people. We are within a day's transit, are we not?."

Kor'el Yin'taj shifted uneasily. "Aun'O, I am not entirely sure that we should be deviating from our course without an escort. We are en-route to Ni'tar, and then to T'au - we must discuss the new civilizations we have encountered."

The Ethereal merely stared at Yin'taj. In but a second, the captain acquisced, nodding his head rapidly. "For the Greater Good, Aun'O. I will take you to this new place."

The Haftak dived into the Warp, merely skimming the surface of the horrors the Warp had to offer. This new species should provide, at the very least, knowledge of another nearby power. Better yet, they would provide trade, and an alliance, two things which could prove indispensible.

However, as to ensure these beings were not surprised into violence, as many had been before.. a message was sent.

We are the Tau, those who serve the Greater Good. We have received your message, and are a nearby power - according to our starcharts. Should you wish to open diplomatic discourse, we will be arriving at the co-ordinates specified within some time. I am Aun'O Varn Tol'ku, and have the authority to treat with you. Let it be known that the Tau will offer the hand of friendship to all who are willing to receive it.

The Commonalitarianism scout service ship, picked up a probe on the outer rim of its expanding territory.

Neem Ralk a scout in service looked over the message, he laughed slightly, a new contact. He smiled showing his canines slowly. Then he yipped.

The unarmed ship kicked in its transwarp engine, threw up the optical camouflage and the scan jammers, and made a short jump to the edge of the sytem where the new presence was.

The Gulf of Ishmael, border of the Incandescent Nebula

The Hyperspace window, a great, perfectly square blue expanse, closed gently before the ISF Lyonesse.

"Sir, the final probe has achieved hyperspace. Wave three is complete. Success report un-verified."

Captain Esta did not brake his gaze from the space before him. He had not witnessed the blackness of beyond home since the first hyper-space test of the Lyonesse.

"Begin phase two"

The order needed no-confirmation. Soon, the vast bay doors of the Battlecriuser parted, and revealed the light of the docks underneath. Like bees from a hive, a swarm of various corvette-sized ships emerged from the vessels belly, along with one larger structure.

"Ishmael Station is away. Trajectory looks good. Establishing zero-momentum..."

From the great cloud which was the nebula, a modest fleet of no identifiable uniformity broke free, moving ahead of the Lyonesse. A couple of smaller, frigate-sized ships slowed down to dock with the Ismael Station, while many others continued on towards the resource-rich asteroids beyond. The clarity of the ship's radio broke Esta's thoughts;

"Captain Esta, this is Captain Lorn of the Incandescent Resource Group Fleet. We are establishing mining operations. Construction has began on the Ismael Station. We expect resource attainment within the hour. Over"

Esta was familiar with the Incandescent Resource Group. He had recommended them personally for "post-nebulae opportunities", as they were called. Originally the first worker's syndicate to begin operations within the nebula itself, they were more than capable for frontier duties. But most importantly, Esta never doubted the words of the Syndicates. Once a base of operations outside the nebula had been established, phase three would begin. It was upon this thought that Esta retired to his Bridge office, to organize the final details of the exploits and coordinate the efforts. He had not been away for more than twenty minutes when an excited ensign broke his train of thought;

"Sir, a sub-space signal has been detected, we believe we've established extranebulaeic contact"

Captain Esta's eyebrows raised, almost by themselves, however his line of sight never broke away from the screen before him. After a very uncomfortable thirty seconds for the ensign, Esta got too his feet and dismissed him, before following him out to the bridge.

"Sir, we've established two independent signals. They've both been translated and are awaiting you at the terminal."

Not one for unnecessary words, Esta strode over to his seat of command and examined the Tidani and Tau messages before him. Although he had not yet shown it, he was deeply intrigued. Even he had doubted the existence of life outside the nebula, as every cell in his body strive to impose the opinion that Earth that was no longer existed. He hastily conducted a transcript to Galan Rousse for advice, although waiting for the message to reach Serenity via the countless artificial-waypoints of the nebula would be a test.
Nearly an hour later, a single tone marked the arrival of Esta's instructions. Rousse's replies had arrived, and he was on his way too. Despite the relative short distance to be covered between Serenity and The Gulf of Ishmael, navigating the nebula was a pilots worst nightmare. Even with hundreds of years of experience, travel was slow. Esta got up once more, and removed transferred Galan's orders to his Communications officer. Once more, Esta took up his previous posture with his hands behind his back, and gazed out over the millions of tiny lights before him. This time, however, he was trying to identify which light would attack us first...

Confederate Starship Davidson
Aozhou Nebula, Zentalquabula System

The CSS Davidson (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Image:Sovereign_class_at_warp.jpg) cruised slowly along the perimeter of the Aozhou Nebula, a glittering, crimson interstellar cloud, speckled with deep patches of blue, and laced with ribbons of yellow. Despite its proximity to the homeworld of the Firanjan Commonwealth, never had a starship successfully navigated the Aozhou, or, as some chose to call it, the Incandescent Nebula. Attempts were made several thousand years ago, before the days of energy fields and warp drive, but the majority of Firanjan expansion was directed outwards, toward the galactic rim. Thus, it was surprising to the vessel's captain when a small sensor blip appeared on the scopes.

"Admiral, the contact appears to be some sort of sensor probe, bearing mark twelve degrees, and closing," the tactical officer said. "Emitting a looped signal, various frequencies."

"Is it intelligible?" Admiral Aiken asked, swiveling his leather command chair to face the main monitor's feed of the alien probe.

"Just barely," the communications officer replied. "We had to dredge up some ancient files in order to interpret their dialect of English. Ancient, as in Terra-ancient."

"Interesting, interesting," Aiken commented. "Forward all data back to Firanja proper so the Consulate can draft a reply."

To Incandescent Serenity:

A probe originating from your galactic coordinates was recently intercepted from this side of the Aozhou Nebula, which you refer to as the Incandescent Nebula. We are a mere two parsecs apart. The Commonwealth of Firanja would like to begin normalized relations with your planet, and dispatch a vessel to your area immediately.

Mimas - Sol System

Adrien Black the XIII was currently sitting in the extensive silver bodysuit that covered every inch of his skin hiding his features from view. A figure in a black hooded Robe shuffled into the room placing a damaged piece of scrap upon the table and trembling as he stared fearfully up at the figure suspended from the numerous silver wires and interfaces. The voice that came from the hidden man was off and it spoke silently and coolly.

"Please inform me as to why you felt the need to place a pile of scrap metal upon my table." The voice was truly terrifying and the figures had known not to anger the man behind the armor. The shaky response was easily forthcoming.

"We detected something approaching the city in an energy conduit of some sort and we destabilized the conduit and destroyed what we thought was a weapon and merely found this scrap. The data module appears to be intact but we cannot make heads or tails of it." He said in a quivering voice before turning and scurrying from the room.

The armored figure chuckled and turned it's attention to the pile of trash lowering to the floor and moving to sift through it till it found the data module and hooking it into the computer. After a few minutes it nodded as if to itself and then turned it's attention elsewhere as it started to dictate something to itself.

"Attention Incandescent Serenity:

This is a formal reply to the widespread communique that you dispatched to our location. We would attempt to iterate that this country, and it's citizens are not at this time interested in making first contact. Any further attempts to breach our system will be viewed as an act of war, and dealt with as such.

With the letter dictated he sent it off on a communication beacon. He didn't know that they people were searching for the Sol System, like he didn't know the sensor beacon had a faulty Ion Drive and would an obvious trail right back to the Mimas System.

"The Gulf of Ishmael? Do we have navigational data on this, Yin'taj?"

"No, Aun'O, we do not, to my dismay. The maps will be updated, however. A message has been sent home to ensure that all future Tau starmaps contain this data."

It was close. Surprisingly close. Then again, the Tau never bothered to overly investigate nebulae. Where worlds and stars were easily harnessed to the Greater Good, nebula were clouds of dust and gas, useful only to the refueling ship, or the space pirate.

The Haftak continued on, preparing for a second jump. Aun'O Varn looked at the sensors curiously. "Yin'taj, I am curious. How long will it take us to reach the Gulf of Ishmael?"

"Hours, Aun'O. Mere hours."

The Haftak dived into the Warp once more, the ship disappearing easily, like a fish darting deeper into the water. It would arrive soon. To meet new species was not a mission of the Tau, yet one who occupied such a position near their own Empire - ensuring their fidelity to peace would be crucial.

The ship moved a bit closer in system to not far away from where the station was being built. It switched to passive scans, video, and background information. No attempts to send beams or other intrusive measures were sent. the outer hull matched the asteroid it was sitting next to.

Neem Ralk, said simply, "Assess." He leaned back in his chair and stroked his hairy chin.

The ship AI began to take in the images, getting a basic overview of the forces arrayed and the equipment being built.

They were simply watching for who would come and what kind of technology they might possess.

He opened the pickups on the comm channels to listening in case there was any general message traffic. This was rerouted into the AI system as well.

It began processing an overall picture of what was happening in system.

The Coredian Star Destroyer Song of Nephilim was out on patrol in the Mid-Rim Sector when a probe exited hyperspace, broadcasting a message of peace and serenity, two of the Jedi Code's highest goals. Captain Hugo Belville was interested in this new race. Perhaps a trade or alliance agreement could be conducted with this Incandescent Serenity? There was only one way to find out.

The technicians procured a series of coordinates from the Encyclopedia good enough for the Star Destroyer to make a long-range jump through hyperspace. It would take over a day to reach the borders of Incandescent Serenity, so the Star Destroyer will be preceded by a reply.

"Greetings Incandescent Serenity,
I am Captain Hugo Belville, commander of the Star Destroyer Song of Nephilim. I come in peace on behalf of the High Jedi Council of Coreworlds. Throughout the galaxy, the Coredian race has made many friends, fought many enemies. War and peace both have forged us into a nation of strong ideals and stronger strive to do good deeds. I would like to initiate a diplomatic contact with you, and perhaps one day forge an alliance that would last for all time. Please make all preparations for my arrival in one standard day. May the Force be will you."

Once the message was sent, the Star Destroyer pointed its bow towards the distant core, warmed up its hyperdrive engines, and made the transition in a blink of psuedomotion.

Incandescent Expeditionary Fleet, Gulf of Ishmael

The bridge of the ISF Lyonesse (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/Retro_1989/Hiigaran_Battlecruiser.jpg) had swiftly evolved into a make-shift command centre for the entire 'Expeditionary' venture, which had seen more and more commercial Serenitist shipping with every passing hour. The sheer buzz over the volume of extranebulaic responses overflowed from the gargantuan vessel and poured out into the entire fleet, where word of the expected diplomatic arrivals was quickly spreading. The rate of progress of the Ismael Station (http://shipyards.relicnews.com/hw2/images/display.htm?rc_v_comm_station.jpg) was astounding, and the new hulk was expected to be christened as the Great Harbour of Ishmael upon completion, which was mere days away. Esta stopped for a moment, closed his eyes, and cleared his head. Running his weathered hands through his gray hair, he thought about home. He thought about his family, on their small farm on Serenity. His thoughts were quickly dashed as the bustle turned eerily silent.

"Captain Esta, your efforts are astounding. Rest assured, the council will not overlook them."

As Esta opened his eyes, he caught sight of the young complexion of Galan Rousse, The Voice of the Incandescent Nebula. He was practically the mascot of the Council of the Three cities, holding no-more power than an average ambassador or councilor. Yet his status within Serenitist life was justifiably high, after all, he alone had unified the planet with the wavering nomadic elements of the Nebula.

"I am but a servant of my people, Galan"

Galan dipped his head in respect, and smiled somewhat informally.

"The fleet is in place, just inside the Nebula. They are completely undetectable and upon my signal will be here within five minutes. Should anything go wrong, it will rain Destroyers on the extranebulaics. Let us pray that it doesn't."

This time Esta lowered his head.

"Indeed, I have-"

"Captain, we have something you may wish to see here" Interrupted Esta's makeshift Expeditionary Commander. Esta raised an eyebrow, signally the man to continue.

"An Extranebulaic probe has disengaged from Hyperspace, and logistical frigate has been sent to retrieve it. Further-more, sensors are interpreting an oddity. We've run all available diagnostics on the system, but we believe sensors are correct. Ionized particles from the Fleet's propulsion systems have created an irregular pattern, avoiding one area in particular. By all rights The Core believes an unidentified entity inhabits the area, perhaps some kind of spacial anomaly or cloaked vessel."

"Very well, direct a couple of salvage corvettes towards the anomaly, inform me when more data is available. Order the deconstruction of the Extranebulaic probe aboard the ship sent to intercept. See what it has to offer."

"Yes, Sir" The Expeditionary Commander turned towards Galan, "Sir, your attention is required in the main command centre, we have intercepted numerous Extranebulaic transmissions and are in the process of translating them."

The man turned and made his way back to the crowd, eventually followed by Galan after a brief handshake between the Voice and the Captain. Post-arrival, Galan gazed upon the viewscreen, occasionally waving data from the glass and viewing more. After a while, his eyes began flickering to and fro across the surface as he constructed a series of replies.

Planet Dahan
31-08-2007, 20:58
Cold and unrelenting, an indomitable Kasvagorian Annihilator emerged from hyperspace in a flurry of light, streaking to an abrupt halt just a few thousand kilometres away from the coordinates specified. The Kasvagorian Empire was an expansionist culture bent on the conquest of anyone who offended their senses, and the Kasvagorian Annihilator was designed purely to carry out that rather single-minded mission. Brimming with weapons, heavily armoured and heavily shielded, it posed a threat to all who came within her range. Given their propensity to be present whenever a major power fell to the might of the Kasvagorian Empire, the Annihilator was a symbol of power, terror and perseverance in her sector of the galaxy, and it was reputation well earned.

Fortunately, the Kasvagorian Empire was no more. Only ten of these craft were left in existence, down from the hundreds that had once served so loyally in the Empire. These days, they served the Dahanese Commonwealth, as the remnants of the Kasvagorian Empire had merged with this peaceful entity in the wake of a devastating interstellar war. No longer were they crewed entirely by the aggressive Kasvagorian warriors - instead, a pair of Dahanese Sirens stood on the bridge, keeping the Kasvagorians at bay like a master with a leash. Of course, such an analogy was never used in front of them, but outwardly this was the appearance they gave. The Commonwealth, having saved numerous species in their region of the galaxy from extinction and hardship, was now focussing on making a name for themselves elsewhere in the galaxy, although that plan was not going well so far. So, when they detected a probe headed into the Outer Wastelands, they jumped on the chance and sent one of the fastest ships at their disposal.

"I do not think that any will recognise the design of this craft," J'ben said precariously. "But just in case, make sure our shields and weapons are powered down fully."

He said this with a glare to the enormous commanding Kasvagorian officer who stood next to him, who simply snarled and acquiesced begrudgingly. "It is done," the brown giant said in his deep, rasping voice.

"I think we should announce our intentions here quickly, don't you?" Kel'saa asked J'ben, fluffing her wings up a little as though she had been confined for a long period of time. "Otherwise they might... shoot at us, or something."

"Excellent idea," J'ben smiled. He tapped the shoulder of a Kasvagorian officer who sat at one of the monitors, its red readouts making his eyes glow ominously. The Kasvagorian moved out of the way, and the angelic Dahan reached over and tapped the alien controls expertly. "To the people of Incandescent Serenity, I am J'ben of the Dahanese Commonwealth. We heard your calls and wish to reaffirm to you that there are indeed peaceloving beings in this galaxy. Having found your attached documentation interesting we seek the opportunity to get to know each other better." With that the channel was cut.

"Very eloquent," Kel'saa nodded with a smile. "Jess'la herself could not do better."

J'ben shrugged. "It is time for the Dahanese Commonwealth to be at the forefront of galactic politics! We cannot do that by mumbling, now, can we?"

"We could do it with weapons..." a Kasvagorian mumbled rhetorically.

Aboard the ISF Lyonesse

"Sir! The long-range sensor array of the Great Harbour has detected unknown hyperspace activity, bearing seventy-two by thirty-three, distance 3201.02 Kilometers. Unknown entity estimated heavy-cruiser class. Major energy signals from Hyperspace and conventional drives only"

"Rodger that, get Galan on the bridge immediately, prep the assault sortie, MOVE!" Bellowed Esta, suddenly an object of unexpected movement,

"Sir, we're receiving a transmission, translators are scanning. The entity is holding its current position. Reading an overall decrease in power across the vessel"

"Maintain readiness, bring up the message on-screen A-Sap"

Galan strode confidently into the bridge, and took up his place at the side of the Captain. Comparatively speaking, Galan was a good-sight better-dressed, his long, white robes echoing the formality of the occasion.

"The situation, Captain?"

Esta merely extended his hand towards the view-screen as he took a step backwards, lowering his head ever-so-slightly as he did so. Galan briefly nodded back in acknowledge ment then stepped forward towards the screen. Repeating the same process as before, his eyes began flickering over the screen, pinpointing on a single area for no-more than a half second before darting elsewhere. In under a minute, Galan stopped, and seemed satisfied.

"All is well, Captain, we are expecting more guests. I myself am leaving for the Harbour in ten minutes, lest I not see you in person again, I wish you every victory. You and your crew are indeed, the pride of Serenity."

And with that, without waiting for Esta's reply, Galan nodded gracefully, turned, and left. Although the expression on Esta's face showed no-sign of change, he was pleased. He looked at his Comms. Officer and spoke;

Official Communiqué

J'ben of Dahan,

We are honored by your presence. Please take this opportunity to board the Great Harbour of Ishmael, and begin diplomacy.
May we sow the seeds of friendship, and reap the rewards together.

"You see?" J'ben smiled, placing his hand on the shoulder of the Kasgavorian commander warmly. "By talking in an amicable manner we have established first contact without a single loss of life!"

"That is one viewpoint," Kkaar grumbled with a nod. "But, what you have actually accomplished is a secure beach head for Kasvagorian shocktroopers to take them by force."

Kel'saa chuckled half-heartedly, unsure if he was joking or not. "Why do you see everything as one big military strategy, Kkaar? Where is the peace and love in your heart?"

Kkaar puffed up his enormous chest and squared his broad, spiky shoulders in defiance. "Because if we did not, you would now be speaking Kring, and I would no longer draw breath."

To that, there was no answer. As was often the case, in a perverted way the enormous fellow was actually right - when faced with Kring, Dahanese pacifism would have cost them their lives, and the only force of note that stood in their path were indeed the Kasvagorians. Kel'saa simply nodded solemnly and said, "the wisdom of the Kasvagorians in these matters is always appreciated."

"However," J'ben butted in. "In this instance there is no cause for concern, I think. These people seem to be genuinely peaceful and trustworthy. They have invited us to this harbour of theirs and we shall go. Kel'saa, I suggest that you call upon the services of Jvatnor and Telumtamet and report to the transporter room. Kkaar, I would be pleased if you could escort them, to represent the Kasvagorian people and ensure no harm befalls them."

"Willingly done," Kkaar bellowed, thumping his chest.

"You will not accompany me? Us?" Kel'saa inquired.

"Someone has to act as the voice of compassion aboard a ship of rage," J'ben said poetically. "You shall not be alone, do not worry."

She bowed her head respectfully and then meekly gestured for the Kasvagorian, who stood at twice her size, to follow her to the turbolift. It took several minutes for them to rendezvous with the other members of their party and arrive at the transporter room, given Kasvavorian tendencies to build things rather large (not to mention the time it took for Kel'saa to negotiate with Kkaar into him taking only a beam pistol, instead of the whopping great cannon he had 'planned' to carry with him), but it was not long before a Dahan, a Kasvagorian, a Grey and a Groulien beamed away from the safety of the Ferocious Anger, and materialised at the coordinates of this 'Great Harbour' they had been directed to... and parts unknown.

The Great Harbour of Ishmael

The ceremony was brief and poetic, however as soon as the christening of the The Great Harbour of Ishmael (http://shipyards.relicnews.com/hw2/images/display.htm?rc_v_comm_station.jpg) was over, Galan made his way down to the room of "Ishmael's Eye". He had been reliably informed that the Dahanese delegation had, 'appeared' on board, and had been directed towards the room by a stunned crew sortie. 'Room', didn't really do it justice, it was more of a small theatre, the dominating window being the stage. Outside the window lay the Incandescent Nebula, who's motions of every-single imaginable colour filled the entirety of the glass. The view was only broken by the occasional fly-by of Interceptor craft, performing a ceremonial pass of the station. Galan entered the room accompanied by two councilors, an expert translator (who was understandably nervous after a mere couple of hours to condense an entire language) and an appointed ambassador. Upon entering, he tried his best not to show his surprise at the curious selection of creatures in front of him. Resisting staring, Galan waited until his entire company was seated, and bowed at the Dahanese party.
They all sat in silence for the best part of a minute while Galan took it all in.

"Friends, I am glad you have came-" Talking directly over Galan was his translator, who's voice held firm, while her nerves did not. Galan continued regardless; "I, on behalf of the peoples of the Incandescent Serenity, welcome you. May this meeting of races provide peace and prosperity between all"

For several seconds, the translator continued speaking, until it was evident all was done...

The peculiar group took a few moments to absorb their new surroundings, as the female Dahan flapped her wings briskly to shake away the tingly feeling. Beaming from one spot to another was always a disorientating experience, especially when one did not know what to expect on the other side - simply adjusting to the new air pressure and gravity was enough of a task. With the exception of the Kasvagorian, who, standing several feet taller than any of the others in his party, showed no apparent sign of weakness (though, whether he felt disorientated was open to debate).

As the alien introduced himself, one of the party - a short, grey humanoid creature with large black eyes - stepped forwards and held up a credit card sized pad, scanning them eagerly. He seemed to take great delight in reading the results of his scan, excited like a child at Christmas simply by the prospect of learning how these new beings 'ticked'. On the other hand, the Kasvagorian simply 'stared out' the welcoming party, desperately resisting the urge to pull out his beam pistol. The short, stubby-legged creature whose back was covered with a brown shell seemed to take more notice of the station itself, looking around with a wide-open beak as he took in its every detail.

Once she had finished stretching her slender limbs and gawking at the view from the windows, the humanesque winged female turned around nervously, looking at each one in turn. She seemed somewhat distracted, and occasionally glanced up at the large brown individual, who seemed to calm down remarkably quickly with each passing moment. Eventually, she managed a nervous smile.

"You are... Galan, yes?" she asked. Contrary to their new alien friends, each of them wore a small translation device, as none of them actually spoke the same language. "I am happy to meet you. My name is Kel'saa, and I represent the Dahanese Commonwealth. And may I introduce my companions..."

"I am Kkaar," the enormous brown individual announced. "I am Kasvagorian. We are a founding species of the Dahanese Commonwealth. My ire will become irked quickly should this dainty one be harmed." At that, Kel'saa looked at him again and he seemed to calm down even more.

"My name is Jvatnor, and I represent the Grey Cou... I mean, the Grey species," the four and a half foot grey humanoid said, still busy with his scanning device. "We are also a member of the Commonwealth, and highly honoured to make your acquaintance."

Finally, the short, hard-shelled alien stepped forward. From his beak came a surprisingly deep, snorting language which their translators appeared to struggle with. After a short delay, they kicked in. "I am Telumtamet," he said simply. "I am Groulien. We like to make new friends."

Kel'saa looked down at the Groulien with a smile, never failing to find them cute. She looked back at their hosts quickly though. "As you can see, the Commonwealth is a diverse nation, and I hope that we can learn more about each other in the time to come. I am sure we have much to offer each other."

Neem Ralk looked over the images carefully, some of the ships he recognized and had seen before, Tau, Federation offshoots, standard battlecruiser technology. Others he had not seen before. The meeting was starting to look interesting enough to warrant more attention.

He tapped at the screen rhythmically with his control wands. And said, "Release two observers, 007, to get a closer look at the station and delegation." It was a matter of patience.

Two small observer bots drifted towards the station slowly, they too had optical camouflage. Small round disks about three feet across not particularly large with lots of instruments packed into them. They were in no hurry. Exotic materials on their outer skins would make them hard to pickup with standard scanners.

To the nation of Tidan,

First contact has been established and recognized. We would be honored to begin open communications between our peoples. An ambassador is waiting at the Gulf of Ishmael for you. [Coordinates Enclosed]

On the bridge of the Caer Caradock, one of Tidan's vast Gallant class command carriers, Captain Gilroy stood on the elevated command deck above the bridge crew. Around him the command staff monitored the ship's readings and actions, and above them all the visual display dome showed a chartographic overview of the area around the Incandescent Nebula being fed to them by the Lorekeeper cruiser Windchaser that was monitoring the region from afar.

A door at the rear of the command deck opened and two figures entered. They made their way past the senior officers to the overlook where Captain Gilroy was standing feet wide and hands held in the small of his back. As they approached him he turned his torso slightly and looked back. Then loosened his pose and turned fully to greet them.

"Ah Brother Zale, Sister Kaitlyn. I see you got my message." said the Captain, while saluting both. Gilroy now pointed to a red marker making its way into the area of the nebula that took up much of the screen overhead. "As you can see we are preparing to return to normal space. I thought you might like to get a look at where we are before I send you down to the shuttle deck and off on your way."

The two Shield Knights moved up to the railing and watched the display. As members of the Shield of Nav, Shield Knights were these days being called upon more as ambassadors than peacekeepers. Still they honored their oath of service whether it meant standing between civilians and a brutal invader, hunting criminal factions for the protection of civilized life, or even establishing contact with galactic and universal neighbors for the benefit of all Tidani.

Sister Kaitlyn stood next to her comrade looking up at the projected space above. She was a young woman who had just begun her climb through the ranks of the Order. Her dark brown hair just reached her shoulder and fell over one of her green eyes as she looked down to brace herself against the railing. Once secure, she reached up with a hand to pull it away and place it safely behind her ear as she looked up. This was her first mission out of system and she was eager to prove herself in the eyes of the Shield.

Beside her Brother Zale Starfall (http://images.filecloud.com/96068/aerohavy.jpg) fearlessly leaned over the edge placing all his weight on the rail. As time passed on New Tidan and the Hyren assimilated more into Tidani culture it was inevitable that some Hyren would leave their mountain top city Hyr and integrate themselves into the rest of their world. Fortunately this was not a hard process, the humans of Tidan still looked up to and idolized the Hyren. That their feathered friends had almost been exterminated by a bioweapon had not changed their bond, in fact in many people it only made it stronger. So while their numbers were still small, more and more Hyren were returning to the navy and military, eager to do their part to protect their world too. Many now made regular journies to the Temple of Nav and some even joined the Shield.

The first of these new volunteers had been Zale. Younger brother to the famous Admiral Kadus Starfall, Zale was a hyren living in the shadow of his brother the hero to all Hyren and now acting President. At first this had eaten away at him causing him to act out in more and more dangerous cries for attention. Finally he found the help he needed from the members of the Order. They taught him to overcome his jealousy, and how he could also be a hero and example to his people through selfless service instead of leadership. Since then Zale has embraced his calling and rose through the ranks quickly to become the leading Knight of his people.

When the Caer Caradock arrived outside of the Incandescent Nebula, Captain Gilroy searched for something to identify as the 'Gulf of Ishmael'. It didn't take long before the station was identified as being the Great Harbor of Ishmael, so the two knights left the bridge and made their way to the shuttle deck.

The Caer Caradock transmitted her identification and received the invitation to come aboard. Gilroy notified the station that the Tidani delegates were on the shuttle leaving his ship and would be arriving soon.

"Aun'O, we will be reaching the Gulf within minutes."

The Haftak had been using power with utter disregard for her generators for hours now. Although it was not in danger, they were not able to keep any weapons running hot - nor the gravitic sail, in truth.

However, they were almost at their destination. A destination that excited the Ethereal. Who could know what they would find? What new species, what new technologies, and.. well, the interest he had in such things was unquenchable. Could they be incorporated into the Greater Good?

It was a mystery yet to be solved. Another problem to be overcome by the Tau. This species sought peace, and so the Tau would offer it to them. Perhaps they would join the Empire, and perhaps not. Perhaps they would merely be allies. It did not matter as much as it would if they had been inside the Empire, as the Kroot and Vespid were.

His hooves twitching with excitement, the ship exited the Warp. And they arrived at the Gulf of Ishmael. The tiny craft - by Tau standards, at least, by the standards of most it would be a capital ship, scythed its way effortless from the Immaterium, cleaving a path into what was.

"Impressive. The engineering skill of these people must be great, must it not, my friend?"

"Of course, Aun'O. Perhaps not as great as our own Earth Caste, but the structure they have made here is impressive nonetheless.."

Yin'taj frowned. The Ethereal sounded impressed. From what he could see, it was merely a starbase. The Tau preferred to keep on the move - their fleets were mobile, not static as this was.

Varn laughed, a deep, friendly sound. "Oh, Yin'taj. I do not insult the ways of our Earth Caste builders. Rather, I merely note that the engineering skills that these people have led to them building quite the accomplishments, would you not agree? Our own ships seem less fine, less detailed - although larger. They are not better, Yin'taj, merely different. Appreciate that."

Yin'taj nodded, and Varn smiled.

This is Ethereal Varn. If it is agreeable, I will be landing on your starbase soon, alongside my honour guard, and a pair of Water Caste diplomats. Do not worry, our ship will not approach your station, nor come overly close - we would not wish to ruin a meeting which has potential to be such a fine sharing of ideals and beliefs between two peoples

The Haftak began to slow down, gravitic sail streaming out behind. Shuttlecraft and transports were prepared. The Tau would come, with all the pomp and ceremony due to one of the Ethereal Caste, all the protection such a treasure of the Tau Empire required.

A flash of psuedomotion and a ship 1.6 kilometers in length bristling with no-shit weapons and shielding that could take the better course of a day to bring down, a ship named the Song of Nephilim, has arrived.

"I see that we aren't alone in this matter." Captain Belville mused. "Initiate a CAP. Tell the hangar bay to ready a shuttle for me and the Jedi."

"Yes, sir." Came the expected reply.

Captain Belville wasted no time in procuring a VIP droid for recording the meeting, a young ensign for teacher-student privileges, and two Jedi, the customary Master/Apprentice team. He also stole a Shinobi from Security to act as the usual paranoid security officer during this meeting. The people he wanted assembled, he and his posse made his way towards the hangar bay and boarded their shuttle. Said shuttle smoothly left the hangar bay and exited the atmospheric bubble keeping the air inside the ship and headed towards the The Great Harbor of Ishamel.

"Quite a sight, isn't it Cody?" The Captain said as he transmitted his ID code and a 'We are coming to dock' message.

Master Cody Quortan nodded as they gawked at the beautiful space station with the nebula as its background. "Yes, it is. I wouldn't be surprised if they were descendants of Naboo or Alderaan."

"Mmm." The Captain said as they headed for the starbase.

One of the round disks landed softly on the outer hull of the Ishamel station. The optical skin changed the color of the station. A line of nanoflies marched out of the round device. They marched along seeking cracks in the outer hulls or openings through which they could enter the ship.

They were fly size objects with a very tiny optical camouflage skin, you might see one as a faint distortion of the air, or a slight whisper if it was close enough.

They would be sending back basic optical and audio signals to the disk which would forward the information to the Commonalitarianism scout ship.

IFV Samwise Situation Report: 20.5
We have arrived on the outskirts of Nebula 382 after a brief malfunction of the Slipstream drive. It is unknown whether or not the nebula will provide an abundance of resources as of yet, as initial scans are being blocked by the dense clouds. However, the ship's foreman remains confident that we will find enough matter within the deeper nebula to fuel ten fleets for over a decade. The fleet seems rather bored with survey duty, but are performing their duties well within acceptable levels. Regardless as to if the nebula survey proves profitable, the scans we are taking of this sector will be advantageous in planning the fleet's next move.

Captain Elsin watched lazily as a pair of Workbees tended to a blown plasma unit outside the habitation module. It seemed the carrier Samwise was having more and more technical difficulties as they continued jumping further from the Coruc-Tel system. A trio of Recons flew by overhead...or was it below? Despite his status, the three-dimensional physics of deep space always made Elsin's head hurt. Maybe that was why he had landed a post aboard the Prophet-class carrier. No hard combat decisions. Hells, the ship's A.I. handled most everything aboard the massive production vessel. And even if they managed to get into a scrap, the battlecruiser Kamrani and the three destroyers were more than enough to handle anything until the ship's eff-tee-ell drives were fully spun up.

And so the Samwise sat at the edge of the Incandescent Nebula, known to the Feazanthians as Nebula 382, unaware of what was happening on the other side of the dust...

The Gulf of Ishmael

The drones remained completely undetected, despite the Serenitists expertise in absorbtive elements through their time in the Incandescent Nebula. Their attention, however, was focused entirely on the 'Cold Zone', where a large black gap had appeared in the currents of ionized drive emissions. Esta stood on the bridge of the ISF Lyonesse, carefully monitoring the chatter of the Salvager's (http://images.wikia.com/homeworld/images/e/e6/Tiirshak_salvager.gif) fast approaching the unknown entity [Commonalitarianism],

"Lead-Two, watch your trajectory, Over"

"Roger that, Lead-One, maintaining formation"

"Close the gaps, people, initiate magnetic fields on my command... Three, two, one; all drives go"

"Lead-Two, copy"

"Lead-Three, copy"

"Lead-Four, Copy"

"This is Lead-One, minor power fluctuations across the border, we have a latch, object is solid"

Satisfied, Esta leaned in towards his screen, and began the second phase;

"Salvage-group Alpha, This is Captain Esta, initiate all localized EMP pulses"

There was an increasing concern in The Core that this was not a spacial anomaly, and nobody dared doubt her sensor dexterity. Regardless, Esta expected nothing of any significance. He certainly wasn't expecting a cloaked ship...

The Great Harbour of Ishmael

Galan, clearly impressed by the technological advancement of the Dahan, dismissed his translator. He was fairly certain that the entire Serenitist language had already been downloaded onto the devices, no-doubt from the Encyclopedia itself. Nevertheless, he continued,

"Yes, I am Galan, the voice of the Council of the Three Cities. In the interest of both of our peoples, I hereby suggest the initiation of trade between the Dahanese Comonwealth and Incandescent Serenity, via the Great Harbour, of course. We have an abundance of super-dense alloys, plasma and naturally ionized gaseous materials both on the surface and in the nebula, many regions of course are mined by the Incandescent Resource Group themselves." Galan paused for a minute to allow the translating devices time to catch-up, "Thus, it would be of great benefit to both parties to open trading lanes, and coordinate the commercial sector" Galan delicately handed a glass tablet to the clear leader of the delegation, Kel'saa "Here, are detail of the various stellar trading syndicates of Serenity, along with the resources at their disposal" Galan finally sat back and folded his arms, clearly pleased at what he had to offer the Dahanese delegation.

Communications Officer Daista rubbed his balled head, and focused on the screen in front of him, which detailed the various approaching craft. He signaled the resident operator to leave his terminal, and Daista sat down and adjusted his comms. mic. He cleared his throat and flicked his eyes directly on the "OPEN ALL CHANNELS" key on the screen.

"This is Ishmael Control. Attention all Tau, Tidani and CoreWorld craft. Please coordinated docking procedures towards gates Three, Seventeen and Fourteen respectfully. Magnetic locks are operational. Diplomatic personnel await your arrival. Hope to see you soon, Ishmael Control out"

Daista removed himself from the terminal and turned to Operator Nineteen, who he noticed was barely out of his teens,

"Get on the radio, notify Galan and the diplomatic staff that we expect peaceful company"

Satisfied, Daista took the time to look out over the increasing activity in the gulf. He looked out just in time to register a short, blue burst of light, which marked the detonation of the incoming-probe's Hyperspace capsule. Confused, Daista turned slightly, eyes still locked on the window.

"Operator Four, direct a detailed scan of grid... Charlie-Five-Two, bearing Five-Seven, Four approximately. Object is moving, unknown velocity"

No response came from Operator Four, to Daista's irratation...

"Well Operator?" he hissed impatiently,

"Sir Object-Eight-A has been picked-up by a registered logistical frigate. They report the probe is broadcasting, coordinates enclosed. it instructs a probe be sent to the relevant coordinates"

Daista paused while he pondered his authority in this situation.

"Message the ISF Lyonesse, request instruct-" before he could finish he was interrupted by another officer who had just strolled into the room,

"No-need Daista, Captain Esta has already ordered the dispatch of another probe" The newcomer signaled towards the window where a small Hyperspace window opened up in front of the ISF Lyonesse, followed by a tiny object moving at a tremendous speed. Nonetheless, Daista was intrigued by the Extranebulaic object.

"I wonder, where is the object from?"

The newcomer joined Daista at the window, looking out as he.

"The Dominion, apparently"

Observatory Outpost Four-Five-Two lay just beyond the Nebula's reaches, ominously watching the area. Nothing moved, save for the occasional blip of a tiny, blue-light. Then, all of a sudden the minute station sprang to life, as countless mecha whirred and moved in coordination to another series of lights flickering into existence around the main sensor array. And soon, the reason for this activity was known, as a vessel of at least one-thousand meters in length exited from Hyperspace. Observatory-Outpost Four-Five-Two wasted no-time in broadcasticng the encrypted data back to the SILYBS network, and eventually to the Serenity Defence Network. That was, after all, what Four-Five-Two was programed to do.

Fleet Designation Point One: The Serene System

Commander Solenia reviewed the assorted data in the safety of the Nebula Coordination and Command Station, and scratched at his one-day stubble. There was no-doubt, that with the re-entrance back into existence of Four-Five-Two, she would now be visible to the intruders. He quietly spoke to no-one in particular, although everyone in the Intelligence Centre was listening.

"Send the ships"

And with those three words, the various personnel kicked into action, as a flurry of voices filled the air in the management of the dispatched vessels. Within minutes, the destroyers 'Ephemeral Doubt' and 'Swift and Adroit", along with a group of various Frigates glided into the open Hyperspace window, destined for SILYBS Beacon Eleven where they would re-group for their next jump.

The magnetic grapples clanged into the diamondoid coated bioceramic outer hull. For a moment there was a thought they had purchase. They slid off the smooth non-ferrous coated surface. The Captain saw it because he was close, it was not cloaking, just a near perfect optical background match with the stars, and a jamming field, it was the shape of a perfect cylinder in outline.

Then the localized electromagnetic pulse went off, designed to knockout shielded ships. The ships AI was confused for a few moments, some few parts were crystal, and electronics, but a lot of the ships controls were biological wiring, prism crystals, and optronics. The pulse outlined the ship and destroyed the jamming field, but not the internal controls.

Readings were very strange, it was a mix of advanced biomaterials, organic technology, and exotic materials.

Neem Ralk sat very still. He thought his job was to observe, not act as a contact person...

"Dammit" muttered Captain Esta, "Can you acknowledge the object's existence?"

"This is Lead-One, roger that, sensor readings are up"

At the news, Esta turned his attention back towards the screen he was in-front of, which was suddenly alive with data. The Core momentarily flashed across the glass, her ominous voice echoing the readings: We have a ship

"Move the Lyonesse into range of the vessel, and open-up all available communications channels, now!"

As the great hulk of the ISF Lyonesse fired up her Ionic drives and moved into range of the unaligned vessel, commercial shipping in the vicinity of the object retreated, followed by the salvage group. Soon, the full raw power of the ISF Lyonesse sat before the mystery vessel, followed by a sortie of other ships unimportant in comparison to the Battlecruiser. In a matter of seconds, Esta's message was sent:

The screen crackled a little bit, as the optronics realigned themselves, Neem Ralk sighed, "I am here as an observer, a scout, to see if we should send in diplomatic representation." He shifted slightly in his seat. "The presence of large numbers of ships of many nations professing peace interests us." He squints slightly.

The ship was a good ten meters long. Scans showed no weapons. There are no origin markings on the ship. There was a great deal of communications, scanning, and other equipment, some of which the Incandescent Serenity might or might not recognize.

Neem Ralk's instruments were recording sending the exact specifications of the ship back to Commonalitarianism space using a quantum simultaneity ansible along with the previous information.

Unlike many nations with a whole battalion of bodyguards for their delegates, the three Special Forces members were all that the Captain needed if the shit starts hitting the fan. That's not to say, however, that bodyguarding is all that the Jedi do. The Jedi are often the ones in charge of any negotiations for they are the ones who speak for the Jedi High Council and by extension, Coreworlds itself. Today, though, the Captain will be in charge with the Jedi Master filling in any gaps necessary. The Padawan and ensign are there for educational purposes.

"Greetings from the Jedi High Council of Coreworlds." Captain Belville said as he came face-to-face with the delegation. "Your unauthorized presence here could be easily mistaken for espionage. Fleet presents you with three options: Dock aboard the Harbour, leave entirely, or send for a respetful diplomatic envoy. Failure to comply with our terms will result in the destruction of your vessel. Welcome to Serenity, crewman."

Esta closed the dialog with a yet another flicker of his eye. He sighed, and sat there for a few seconds. He knew the galaxy was not going to be an honest, nor peaceful place. There was more than enough Serenitists who already called for a return to her previous isolationism, frightened that the barbarians of earth that was remained, and would undoubtedly seek us out. This was unfortunate, as if it wasn't for those who voiced this particular opinion, Esta was unwavering in his opinion that he would have been infinitely more hospitable to the newcomer.

As the Tidani vessel entered Gate Seventeen (http://shipyards.relicnews.com/concept/images/display.htm?interior1925.jpg), there was a series of mechanical whirs which signaled the nearest inbound docking platform. The interior of Gate Seventeen was deceptively large, as major sections of the interior and other bays were still under construction, leaving vast, open-spaces. A series of hissing noises marked the atmospheric stabilization of the craft as it was expertly choreographed to the pressure Nitrogen and Oxygen levels of the station. A brief wind followed the opening of the dock's doors, revealing the visitors to the two Ambassadors and marines awaiting them. The expressions on all their faces instantly changed.
As Zale and Kaitlyn stepped forth, the seven soldiers raised their Pulse Rifles and aimed them straight at the visitors' torso's. They then stood still, like the great terracotta warriors of ancient earth.
Ambassador Kilik immediately returned to his sincere expression when he realized the newcomers weren't armed, however he did not order his guards to stand down.

"You're... Homo Sapien?" Kilik paused, the rasp in his voice irritating his throat. He could tell by their surprise at the Serenitist hostility that they hadn't expected it. Nevertheless, humans could not be trusted,

"We fled earth that was long ago. If you have come for us, we will destroy you and burn your worlds"

Kilik's eyes narrowed as he tried to gauge their response. his soldiers did not falter.

The two knights stopped. Zale spoke first, a torc around his neck translated his sharp avian speech. "I am Hyr Sapien, or Hyren in plain tongue." He gave an axious look to young Kaitlyn, but she did not betray any anxiety. He was about to defend her but she spoke up for herself first.

"Yes, I am human. But I'm afraid I do not know your people or why you would fear me. My people were taken from our ancient homeworld of Earth a very long time ago. We lived in a land known as Albion during the decline of the tyrant Rome. You should know we have not lived on Earth or been aware of politics there since." She paused and smiled sweetly. "Is this a problem?"

The Great Harbour of Ishmael

Ambassador Kilik's hand immediately shot upwards, palm facing away from the soldiers. Professionally, they lowered their weaponry in unison. Then Kilik noticed he had left his mouth, ever so slightly open.

"I can offer only my most sincere apologies" As the highest ranking Ambassador below the Voice himself, Kilik had an intricately detailed knowledge of the Eternal Library. And he knew of Albion.
"Follow me"

Kilik led the party through an intricate system of walkways and balconies until they reached a delegated conference room, similar to the grandiosity of Ishmael's Eye, but smaller. The guards continued to follow them in formation, obviously eager to await a DNA test. Kilik however, viewed this as highly insulting to question their honor a second time. He waited until both had sat before speaking;

"We believed that Homo Sapien Nebulaeus were the only survivors from the ancient Celtic race. Centuries on Serenity and the Nebula may have changes us, however our past remains the same. You may be, our closest living kin" Kilik signalled all but two guards to leave, as was the standard guard,

"Please forgive our paranoia, but The Great Exodus was more than mere politics"

Ambassador Taniir stayed behind with an assortment of guards, eagre to meet the Core delegation. The doors of the dock slid eloquently open, near-silent save for a faint hiss of preassure. Then the Jedi stepped forward. And they looked human, too.

"Greetings from the Jedi High Council of Coreworlds." Captain Belville said as he came face-to-face with the delegation. "I am Captain Hugo Belville of the Song of Nephilim and this is Jedi Master Cody Quortan and his Padawan apprentice Niklas Tomas. Over here is my Security Officer Judea Wevyrn and my ensign Gary Terrence. Finally, is my VIP droid, Emtrey. It is a pleasure to meet with you, my friends."

Taniir allowed the man to finish speaking, then played his role;

"Please, do not come any further. Your appearance may be deceiving. Are you from Earth that was?"

The guards only raised their weapons ever-so-slightly, as if to emphasize his order. Taniir however, tried to maintain every manner he could, desperate to avoid the situation with the Tidani repeating itself...

Captain Belville noted the weapons being raised ever so slightly by the other side's troops and noted the Jedi reaching ever so slightly for their lightsabers. If it turned into a fight, it could turn badly for both sides. He had to defuse it.

He spoke with absolute sincerity. "We are from the nation of Coreworlds. It is true, though that our ancestors come from Earth, specifically from the nation of Japan before we founded a nation of our own: Coredia. However, I do not understand this hostility. Neem Ralk, "I am opening a wormhole gate for a diplomatic ship. This will allow faster transit time for ships." He releases what looks like a 3 meter round ball from the ship.

The cube systematically unfolds until it is a twenty meter by twenty meter radius circle. The circle activates and a wavey grayish field like ocean water appears at its center.

Within minutes what looks like a cylinder leaves the gate. The ship is marked as the "Lady Luck" in Terran english, there are various symbols of fortune on it, a wheel, a pair of dice, cards, and three ladies-- a young canid, a middle aged human, and a queen bug. It also has a green flag with a tortoise on it with the words in old Terran "All Joined In Common Bonds.". There is a series of numbers under the flag that might be registry codes. The ship looks very well cared for.

A human in a blue tricorner hat, with long black curly hair, a blue jacket, and silver tortoise collar tabs, sends a brief message, "I am Marcus Ohyes, I believe you are seeking diplomatic representatives."

The scout ship moves away making the jump into hyperspace.

SILYBS Beacon Nineteen, Incandescent Nebula

A perfect square Hyperspace window formed roughly four-thousand meters from SILYBS Beacon Nineteen, sending wisps of Nebulaic cloud curling around its borders. Several more windows began to form, and soon the destroyers 'Ephemeral Doubt' and 'Swift and Adroit', along with many other frigates, emerged from the blue expanse.

"This is the ISF Ephemeral Doubt (http://shipyards.relicnews.com/hw2/images/display.htm?e3gs_homeworld2_screen023.jpg). Hyperspace jump successful. Fleet, we are recharging the Hyperspace Core for the final jump. Charge in nine minutes, Over"

Captain Espilik retired from the terminal where he had just addressed the fleet. His left-hand was shaking ever-so-slightly, which it always did in the minutes following a Hyperspace jump. He knew not why.

"Sir, your attention on-screen please. We've intercepted new data from Four-Five-Two"

Espilik looked down at the Operator, then at his screen. Leaning over, he rested his hands on the sill, and reviewed what was before him. They've breached the Nebula. his train of thought was soon disrupted by the ship's Core;

"Hyperspace Core at Fifty-Per cent. Expect Jump in four minutes"

Espilik returned to his command-chair, and prepared to address the fleet;

"This is the ISF Ephemeral Doubt, ready Hyperspace formation. All hands at battle-stations, possible hostility at the other side. Good-luck, people. Over"

The next few minutes felt like an eternity. Espilik's crew had not seen combat since the pirates of the far-reaches of the Nebula were brought under Serenitist control, and even they were nothing compared to an organized fleet. Like the one they were going to face next. His hand started shaking again.

"This is The Core, Hyperspace Module fully charged. Linking to ISF Swift and Ardoit sub-space frequencies. Hyperspace in three, two, one... We are away"

The IFV Kamrani and the trio of Revelation-class destroyers immediately deployed in a defensive formation in front of the far-more vulnerable carrier as five entire frigate squadrons began converging on the point where the standoff was now occurring. Upon seeing the change come over the soldiers and ambassador Zale was most relieved and Kaitlyn let out a short sigh. Apparently she had been a little more nervous then she had let on. Zale checked that information away in his mind, she was cool under pressure. It made her a good Shield Knight and a good choice for a mission like this, especially considering the way some of the latest first contacts had been going. If they weren't boiling into orbital skirmishes, they were being escorted through mutant infested lands toxic with nuclear fallout. It seemed a miracle that they had been allowed to leave the ship unarmed, and very fortunate that they had.

"I can offer only my most sincere apologies" Kilik said clearly trying to make up for the small incident. "Follow me"

The Knights both followed quickly and quietly, hoping to disarm the situation as quickly as possible. They soon arrived in the impressive conference room and sat. Once seated Kilik continued.

Kaitlyn did her best to reassure the man. "Do not feel bad Ambassador. This is your home and you are entitled to know whom you are hosting. Brother Zale and I harbor no ill will towards you. We extend to you peace and friendship from the King and Clanlords of Tidan."

Zale nodded and then worked his way into the conversation. "I'm sorry but did you say that you share common ancestry? If it is not outside my place to ask, how did your people end up here? You see my people found Sister Kaitlyn's adrift in space on a massive stasis ship near our world. Many systems were damaged so we do not know how it came to be there and can only estimate how long they were there based on what little we know of ancient earth history and what they have told us of their lives before. Ambassador Kilik seemed infinitely pleased that the Tidani had not been overtly offended at the Serenitists nearly executing them. He duly noted them as a very tolerant and collected people.

"Unfortunately, we can offer little light upon your displacement from Terra. We did not drift through the depths of space until some two-thousand years after the events you have described, although much of our knowledge and past was lost in The Great Exodus."

Kilik took a thin, glass tablet out of the pocket of his robes, and slid it across the table. It glistened in the artificial light, emitting a bright-white glow itself. It was the Encyclopedia: Incandescent Serenity (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=536835).

"What you are looking for is contained in Chapter three-point-three of this book. We believe that we were once from the same, Celtic race, which inhabited the north and west of Albion. However, as millenia passed, the greed of other, corporate empires surpassed that of ancient Rome, eventually consuming the entire planet. It was those who fought to preserve their world that were slaughtered by the super-weapons of the sinners, eventually taking to the stars to escape the genocide. They were my ancestors."

Kilik paused to allow the Tidani to take it all in. As he watched the couple review the glass terminal, he thought of the future of his people. He prayed that they would be more fortunate now than in the past. And he prayed to meet allies as worthy as the Tidani.

A float plate followed behind them slowly. It contained trade samples in a clear case, catalogs of various ecologies, data cube stacks, and a few cases of personal effects.

"Gate three, Kor'ui. If you would be so kind."

One had to understand. The craft of the Tau were not diplomatic craft. Although unarmed craft existed - and, indeed, the Haftak was one such, leaving smaller craft unarmed was the height of folly. Who could tell when or where one would need to fight? Why leave a single craft unarmed when it could make the different between victory and defeat?

No, the Tau did not waste. And so the Missile Destroyer they travelled in was perfectly well-armed. Naturally, the weapons were powered down. Attempting to fire upon such a station with a mere fighter-bomber would be foolhardly in the extreme. Rather, no transport craft existed aboard the Haftak for the transport of the Ethereal.

Aboard the Manta, however, Varn's honour guard awaited. Two Water Caste diplomats, that much was a given. Twelve Fire Caste warriors, a scarce guard for one such as he, yet more, he feared, would be considered somewhat threatening. No battlesuited warriors would come with him, and he himself wore only a suit to protect him from the possibly strange environment of these aliens. Should it prove harmless, he would remove it.

"Well, then. We are to arrive with pomp, I take it?"

The Water Caste diplomat twitched. "Yes, Aun'O. These people must realize the honour you are granting them by visiting them."

He sighed. "Very well, then. Are we versed in their language?"

"Not well, Aun'O. But we are deciphering it. And quickly."

Varn looked at the approaching station with trepidation. These people seemed friendly enough. Yet.. how they reacted, that would be the test, indeed.

As the fighter docked with the bay, his Fire Warriors stepped out first, cautiously ensuring the area was free of danger. They would not permit their Ethereal to be threatened in any way.

The party watched the various chilly receptions the other aliens arriving on the station received with a mixture of dismay, curiosity, excitement and mild indifference - who felt what was probably obvious by this point - and Kel'saa found herself devoting more and more of her concentration to keeping Kkaar from yanking out his pistol and going on a shooting spree. It seemed as though the more the threat of violence became a reality, the more angry Kkaar became that he wasn't involved somehow, though he was moderately disappointed when they all started to get along again.

Kel'saa took the datapad and started to scan through its contents, while Telumtamet looked up and tugged on Kel'saa's somewhat minimal clothes to grab her attention. She leaned down and the diminutive - and apparently shy - Groulien spoke into her ear quietly. Once he had finished she nodded and patted him on the shell, looking up again.

"Ah, yes," she smiled. "Telumtamet informs me that his people will be able to put those materials to good use, though later on he would like to inspect a sample of the alloys you mentioned if at all possible. But... erm... what would you like to trade for? The Commonwealth produces a range of things - food, luxuries, hardware... and our Groulien friends here can build just about anything. The Samwise's shields are not as paper-thin as you cruiser jocks may think. We have tricks of our own. Fall back to maximum ion range. If they show their hand, you will have your capital ship corpse."

The Kamrani's captain stared at Elsin for a few lingering, agonizing moments. It was as if the man's eyes burned through Elsin's soul, the heat coursing through Elsin's body from the man's gaze alone.

But he said nothing. The battlecruiser's commanding officer vanished form the holotank, and the battlegroup began inching back behind the carrier.

This is Captain James Elsin, Commanding Officer of the IFV Samwise. We had no inclination that this nebula contained sentient life. On behalf of the Dominion of Feazanthia, I extend our deepest apologies for any transgression. However, my compatriot is correct, we will not leave without our people...although we do wish to avoid conflict if we can.

The Incandescent Nebula: Borderlands

As soon as the enemy weapons charged, the fleet began immediate evasive maneuvers, while their various POLAR- and OMNI-Shields materialized around them. But the enemy did not fire. Then, Elsin's transmission was received. Captain Epsilik did not hesitate in composing a reply:

"We are unsure of your attentions. As soon as any weapon is activated within your fleet, I assure you that your destruction will swiftly follow. We will permit a sortie of relevant strike-craft into the Incandescent Nebula, escorted by two of our frigates. Once your people are retrieved, I suggest you depart this region immediately, lest you have something worthy to offer the Serenitist people"

Captain Epsilik,
The I.S.F 'Ephemeral Doubt'

*******

It was not long before the 'Serendipity' exited Hyperspace, just inside the clouds of the nebula, out of reach of the enemies sensors. She was accompanied by another Destroyer and a couple of assorted frigates. Each vessel lay in-wait behind the 'Serendipity', while a drone was launched from the 'Bloodied Fantasy', to ascertain the fate of the expeditionary fleet. It ascertained, that their shields and weapons were fully charged and enabled.

Taniir was becoming increasingly aware that things had the potential to go very, very wrong, very, very quickly. He held the firm belief that things would go smoother, if everyone was sitting down with a bowl of tea. his mother's influence on him from beyond the grave was astounding.

"I believe, a comfortable room would be far more adequate for such a meet?"

Taniir followed the protocol for Ambassadorial meetings aboard the Great Harbour and lead the delegation through to a room he had chosen in particular, as he was fond of its astounding 'cozyness'. This was not, however, to say that the room was anything but small. It was merely designed for the relaxing of tension, especially for situations just like this.

"This may be what you are looking ofr, it is not much, however the Eternal Library is not available over the mainframe"

Taniir passed a thin, glass tablet over the table, just as the other ambassadors would be doing, we was sure. The Encyclopedia: Incandescent Serenity was the most respected source open to the populace, and was viewed more as an obscure work of art. Taniir slipped back into thoughts over tea as the Jedi mulled over the Encyclopedia...
"Interesting and quite unsettling indeed." Master Quortan mused. "You know, when I was a boy, there was an incident involving something similar to this Great Exodus. I don't remember if Coredia was involved at the time, but perhaps there could be a relation. Perhaps if you would allow us to access our Temple Archives..."

Odd how the Jedi Master seems to remember an incident that by all rights should be a thousand years ago, according to the Serenitists. Either Coredians live longer than should be possible for baseline human, or there was some crazy space-time continuum physics at work here. Funny how the universe seems to work. Incidently, he doesn't look a day over thirty.

Marcus Ohyes and Sargent Smithers entered the meeting room.

Marcus Ohyes spoke bluntly, "As we see there are a number of new neighbors in the region, we would like to offer the Incandescent Serenity a mutual non-aggression pact, and establish a trade point at Ishmael Station. My assistant Sargent Smithers is arranging some displays of our primary trade material."

Sargent Smithers places several display cases on the table, in them are a variety of samples of various products, or holographic cube projectors of merchandise.

There are also several datapads on the table marked as separate ecologies, Muse, Paradise, Ganoxa, and a few other worlds. These appear to be structured descriptions with the costs of buying or trading for everything from individual plants and animals to replicable habitats for paraterraformed asteroids and planetoids.

Kaitlyn cringed at the thought of their descendants having been plagued by an enemy worse than Rome.

"This is truely a terrible record. Our people it seems have been destened to stand against the great empires of destruction and over again pay all but the ultimate price."

Zale could see the disappointment on Kaitlyn's face, that despite her people's best efforts to bleed Rome to death, in the end it had almost been for naught.

"I'm glad to see that despite all the time that has passed and all your hardship, your people have not lost their love of freedom. My people recently went through an attempt at genocide, we survived the plague barely and are recovering. We are thankful it only infected our avian biology and not our human countrymen, they have given us shelter as we once did for them. Had they not we surely would have been destroyed."

Zale smiled at his human friend, and then returned his attention to the Serenitist.

"We are sorry for your sufferings friend, tell us what needs do your people have that Tidan might be able to help you with?"

Oh, and we would also like to discuss the possibility of establishing a recreational station in this region. They always bring money into their regions, as well as tourists."

Before Galan could reply, an incredibly formally postured officer entered the room, and whispered something in his ear. He then, turned and left. Galan continued:

"Such opportunities would be more than welcome in the Gulf. Of course, I speak only as a representative of the Council, however I feel certain that there will be no-objections as long as Serenitist law is abided by. Ambassador Thanis here-" Galan indicated to the silent man to his left, "Will be honored to show you to the Ishmaeli Bay, where all our trade agreements on board are to be coordinated. There, I hope, he will be able to answer all of your questions. Now, you must excuse me, it has been a most great privilege to meet the Dahanese Commonwealth"

Galan stood, delivered one final, deep bow, and left the room. He did not, after all, wish to keep the Tau Ethereal waiting... Thanis remained as instructed, and also stood.

"Follow me, if you will" he said, with a most welcoming smile spread out across his aging features.

Kkaar was impressed; he had a pistol, and nobody was dead yet. Not that he needed a pistol for that of course, but it was so much more convenient than getting one's hands dirty, so to speak. He was equally impressed by his comrades; so far, Jvatnor had not dissected anybody (nor performed any of his bizarre experiments), Telumtamet had not dismantled the entire station yet, and Kel'saa had not manipulated anybody's mood yet. Or had she...? He felt strangely calm and docile...

He looked down at her and glared. "Have you...?" he began.

"It was an honour for us too, Galan," Kel'saa interrupted with a smile. "We will gladly follow. "

Varn inclined his head graciously. "Thank you, Galan Rousse, for your welcome. I am Aun'o Varn Ei'fe T'au. Though I am not the voice of the Tau Empire, I am a voice. I greet you in the name of the Greater Good."

The Fire Warriors moved around him smoothly, taking positions far from the diplomats. Their weapons were not readied - holstered, and, it seemed, almost unready for action. Yet, while Varn was relaxed, the tension surrounding the Fire Warriors was palpable. An Ethereal was entering a new situation, when it should almost assuredly be a Water Caste diplomat. It could be dangerous.

It was at this time a diplomat moved forward, his voice changing, ever-so-slightly gutteral, his tones adjusting themselves to match those he heard of the humans aboard. "I am Por'el Kiyan. Where shall we speak?"

The small procession would follow Galan indoors - insofar as the spaceship had indoors, to wherever he led. It would, however, be exceedingly unlikely that the Tau would surrender their weapons. The only unarmed one among them was Varn, who was, after all, aged. He was short, even for a Tau, not cresting five feet. Yet the authority that surrounded him was undeniable.

"Is such a bodyguard truly necessary, my friends?", he asked, softly, knowing the question was futile. It had taken much convincing to see him go in with a mere twelve unsuited Shas'vre warriors. If the Shas'o had his way, there would have been a procession large enough to fill a hundred Manta craft, from troops to tanks. Thankfully, that had not happened.

The first Shas'vre nodded curtly. "Of course, Ethereal. Not only do we not know these people - there are others aboard this starship. The Empire has enemies. Many of those are without scruples."

Varn waited. He was not entirely such what protocols these people had for guests, yet, he imagined, it was best not to intrude.

Sargent Smithers, "You may think we are doing this for greed alone, look outside and see the warships spaced around you, capable of destroying entire worlds, what happens when those worlds are gone the oceans boiled off, or mantle cracked and broken? We have seen this happen. Life is precious. Out of the millions of worlds few harbor life.

It is easy enough to get most our physical resources from the asteroid fields, oort clouds and lifeless worlds.

Taniir merely brushed this comment by. He had seen enough of what this race had to offer, and so far it was only assurances of honor. Their honor, however would be tested on the fields of chaos, not in a diplomatic chamber. The meet had generated everything it had to offer, so Taniir made his closing statement.

"The past is not as important as we may portray it, Quortan. I, however, wish to begin the establishment of trade routes between our peoples and the official recognition of diplomatic envoys, as per standard in first contact scenarios. The Center of Commerce will make all their efforts known to you in due time. For now, unless you have further business to discuss, I may bid you farewell and offer you my best wishes on your journeys".

Taniir offered a reassuring smile, then stood and bowed, as per custom. This had been, one of the more interesting First Contacts...

Kilik smiled warmly at the Tidani couple.

"Besides the obvious diplomatic relations," He leaned back and spread his arms;

"Trade, my friend, trade"

Thanis lead the obscure Dahanese delegation through the windings of the Harbour, eventually opening out on a massive, near chaotically organized Hanger, with the words "Ishmaeli Bay" hastily painted across the roof. It was of course, coordinated by the various syndicates of Serenity, with minimal Council interference.

"Welcome to paradise, my friends!"

Thanis enjoyed a small fit of laughter to himself. Such was the mood of the Ishmaeli Bay. He lead the newcomers through the makeshift village, navigating the streets with expertise, until he came to a building with the massive, teal I.R.G insignia on its front. A freighter promptly took-off from its roof, shaking the platform. Inside, Thanis lead the group to a reception-esque area, where a gentleman and woman, both dressed in teal boiler-suits, greeted them with a nod each.

"We are the delegated spokespersons of the Incandescent Resource Group, from here, we will coordinate the necessary shipping routes and exportations to your homeworld. The rest, however, will be fully managed by the independant syndicates, who will decide what resources are fit for trade. Please, sit"

*******

"Please, I am known as just Galan to my people"

The Tau company were led by The Voice and his guards to The Eye of Ishmael; the grand chamber which the Dahanese had only just left. Despite the room's obvious beauty, both Ishmaeli Guards and Firewarriors averted their eyes from the nebula beyond the glass, eyes fixed instead on each-other. Galan waited for the visitors to be seated before he assumed the same place as before, his childlike excitement only barely noticeable through his stern expression.

"I have been told of the Great Tau Empire, and of the many light-years it stretches over. I am, however, mostly interested in your culture and technologies, which never cease to amaze me"

Having slightly more time than with the Dahanese delegation, Galan's translator, this time a young man, found no-difficulties in conveying his speech. In fact, he seemed to almost enjoy the eloquent syllables of the Tau tongue.

*******

Omnah eased-up a little, Marcus was clearly a career diplomat as he, and new exactly how first meets should go; efficiently and politely.

" Agreements to open shipping lanes and a non-aggression pact are pf course, sincerely granted. Such is an arrangement we hope to develop from a meet like this."

He relaxed a little more, although remained sat straight upright, as a sign of respect for who he was talking to.

"To discuss trade, I shall take you down to 'The Bay of Ishmael', a temporary super-hanger designated to the coordination of our commercial ships from the Harbour. There, the Incandescent Resource group, a worker's syndicate, will manage all shipping arrangements. However..."

Omnah leaned in, folding his hands together as though he was letting Marcus in on a particular secret;

"Extranebulaic Humans are never allowed access to Incandescent space beyond the Gulf of Ishmael, without approval from the High Council itself. Such an arrangement, I can never promise you. Instead, I would love to here of your ancestry, if of course, you are from Terra"

And there was the big question: If... you are from Terra. Such an answer could determine the fate of such interstellar relations. Marcus could either be embraced in the friendship of the Serenitists, or executed by the guards on the spot. And they were very, very eager to kill an extranebulaic human today...

"Understood. I will make my report to the High Council and then you will shortly see a diplomatic representative from our planet Jurai come to call. As for trade, we should let the businesspeople on either side make the deals. After all, there is always a niche for the markets. But I will recommend we open a trade route to you nevertheless through our embassy." Master Quortan promised.

The Coredian delegation stood and bowed, but before they left, the Jedi Master pulled out a datapad with the coordinates to Jurai and a list of nations to watch out for.

"As a sign of trust, I am granting you the coordinates of our capital Jurai. The reason for this is twofold. One, if you are in any trouble on an international scale (in other words, if you need an ally to stave off invasion or if you have a crisis which requires humanitarian aid), we will come to your aid, no matter what. Two, if you encounter any of the nations marked Hostile on that datapad, I highly recommend you notify us at once. There are threats in this galaxy as great and terrible as any nation you have fought in your history on Earth. We have learned that once a nation comes into first contact with these members of the galaxy, terrible things tend to result."

The following nations are on the datapad:

Balrogga: Empire. Hostile. Stay Far Away.
Chronosia: Hostile imperialistic monarchy-theocracy. Stay Far Far Away.
Draconis Nightcrawlis: Monarchy. Ally. Diplomatic relations recommended.
Dragon Kingdom of Issus: Monarchy. Ally. Space overlaps Coredian space. Diplomatic Relations recommended.
Doomingsland: Hostile empire. Ally of Galactic Empire. Stay away.
Evil Woody Thoughts: Republic. Ally. Diplomatic relations recommended.
The ESUS: Extra-Solar Union of Systems. Alliance of space nations. Neutral. Handle with care.
Galactic Empire: Hostile imperialistic monarchy. Ally of Chronosia. Tendency to subjucate nations it 'allys' with. Stay far far away. Ruled by Unified Sith.
Galactic Federation of Free Alliances (GFFA): Alliance containing Coreworlds and friendly nations. Diplomatic relations recommended.
Gaian Ascendancy: (elusive) Republic. Friendly. Diplomatic relations recommended.
Humankind Abh: Monarchy, slightly imperialistic. Ally. Diplomatic relations recommended.
Godular: Anarchist Union. Ally. Handle with Care.
Huntaer: Hostile Empire. Stay away.
Huntarian Alliance: Friendly Republic. Civil War with Huntaer. Diplomatic relations recommended.
Konohagekure No Sato: Constitutional Monarchy. Ally. Space overlaps Coredian space. Diplomatic Relations recommended.
Sunagakure No Sato: Constitutional Monarchy. Ally. Space overlaps Draconis Nightcrawlis space. Diplomatic Relations recommended.
Solarin League: Aggressive Imperialistic Dominion. Hostile. Stay Away.
Tenetian Empire: Hostile Monarchy. Undergoing civil war with Coredia. Ruled by Dark Lady of the Sith Darth Nightshade. Stay far away.
The Fedral Union: Federal Republic. Neutral. Diplomatic relations possible.
The Farstars Confederacy: Neutral/Friendly. Diplomatic relations possible.
Thrashia: Empire. Allied to Galactic Empire. Stay far away.
Coreworlds itself is a constitutional monarchy. We of course, are friendly and diplomatic relations are highly recommended, unless you're imperialistic, bent on galactic domination, panspecies slavery and general wanton death and destruction. Then we're hostile.

"As with all things, my friend, may the Force be with you." Master Quortan bowed.

Marcus Ohyes, "In the Year 2300, C.E. Common Era, all assets in the home system of terra were removed, a mass exodus occurred, we have not been in Terran space for approximately 300 years. Because of issues of overpopulation, pollution, ideological and religious conflicts, increasing aggression by foreign powers, and declining resources the Assembly of All Citizens made the decision to leave Terran space for good to establish the Paradise system as our central home. I personally am from the planet Paradise, and Sargent here is from a mining canid pack in the Paradisan system."

Sargent Smithers presses several buttons on a datapad, an image appears, it is of a city with skyscrapers that reach near the upper atmosphere, you can see water underneath parts of the city, it stretches from the land into the sea. There are massive barges as big as small towns floating in the waters-- http://www.americanflagship.com/media/mccall.jpg

Sargent Smithers, "The world was becoming an ecumenopolis, a giant city that stretched across the lands, in 2300 it began to stretch into the deep oceans where the majority of the Commonalitarianism floating and undersea cities were located. http://www.planetizen.com/files/oped/20050531.jpg

Conflict was inevitable, the oceans were becoming poisoned, it was a sea of people, both in skyscrapers touching the sky, and deep underground structures. Wars of genocide using nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons were increasing.

Increasingly, the powers used the ocean to stage submarines for weapons of mass destruction attacks. The Commonalitarianism cities were like rafts surrounded by sharks, the land based powers bristled with weapons and began to covet the oceans.

The Paradise system had been discovered in 2160. By the time of the exodus, it was capable of absorbing a large portion of the Commonalitarianism."

"Ah trade." Zale smiled, though you'd have to guess that was what he was doing. "Trade is welcome with any nation we have neutral or friendly contact with. Tidan maintains some policies that limit this somewhat, this is only to ensure that our rules are followed and our economy is not going to be taken advantage of. As trade becomes more common and relationships grow we often will take away many of these barriers through the signing of treaties where trust has been established and good faith shown."

"Our major exports have been electronics and information technology, as well as agriculture. We also maintain many massive shipyards which can be rented for starship construction and repair. Whatever the sector I'm sure our economy would be eager for new markets, and our citizens happy for more competition."

Kaitlyn nodded. "If you like we can discuss trade futher, or we can leave that up to the ministers, advisors, and CEOs."

Without a word from the Samwise, three wings of recon craft launched and began a burn towards the Serentist fleet. The nine craft were identical to the three that had already penetrated the nebula, their stubby bodies and oversized sensor equipment clashing with their elongated, elegant wings.

Varn felt involuntary surprise rise within him. The clipped, short tones that humanity usually found it necessary to express his language in were not found here. He peered at the translator for a moment, trying to puzzle out if he wore some sort of exotic device, or perhaps a translator. He did not. Although not unheard of, the young man must have immense control over his vocal chords.

As Galan's words were translated to him, the flattery did not go unnoticed. They had spent many hundreds of years in relative isolation in the universe - rogue humanity and the endless swarms of Orks had proven challenge enough for the Tau Empire. This new phase of expansion and contact with others was a recent one. The very fact that these.. Serenitians had known of them so easily, so well, indicated that there were either facts that had been lost in the histories - or perhaps their own histories were stocked from the shelves of all others.

For the first time, he decided, it was unnecessary to speak in his language. Though it was flowery, and pleasing to the tongue, these people had known the Tau previously. For that alone, a measure of respect was accorded to them.

"I thank you for your praise. Yet I must profess ignorance of your own culture, to my dismay - the Empire had arisen out of war and blood, and many historical records have been lost, to our shame. I would know more, yet I suspect this meeting will not be for the exchange of cultural knowledge. I ask you, what do you wish of the Empire? Though we may negotiate trade accords, and hammer out treaties to protect one another, I tell you this. The hand of friendship is extended to you, should you choose to take it."

The meeting, so far, was going well. Despite the fact he was used to having his every order obeyed - a fact reflected in his stance, the honeyed words of diplomacy were as much a tool of the Ethereals as the orders they gave were. He eclipsed the Water Caste simply by being there. They wished to speak, he could feel it, but they would not do so as long as he was there, for his authority prevented any offers on their part.

With a flourish of one arm, every Fire Warrior in the room relaxed visibly, the tenseness easing out of their bodies. They remained ready, but a signal had been given. There would be no need to fear these people, at least not overtly. Those who flattered Tau were not those who would seek to annihilate their species for the crime of being not-human.

One of the Water Caste diplomats moved forward, smoothly, into the conversation. "If you should wish to open trade - as all should do, for it may benefit both parties, there are border-worlds of the Tau Empire that are closer to this station than they are to T'au itself. No doubt colonies will welcome your trade most warmly, for all they have to offer is raw materials, and the services of warriors and smaller ships in the outer worlds. For machinery and equipment, they will offer much."

OOC: Excuse the short posts, and my factbook has been updated. Please feel free to TG me comments of awe at its grandiosity. unless anyone has any grand plane, lets wrap this thread up and consider contact and trade established where available.

The Great Harbour of Ishmael

Galan listened patiently to the Tau speak, then passed a small, glass tablet across the table, like so many other ambassadors had done that day.

"We are indeed, now friends. Within this tablet, The Encyclopedia: Incandescent Serenity, you will find everything you need to know. I believe trade negotiations will be best left to out merchants, although know that the Great Harbour is always available, with insignificant commission taken. It has been an honor to meet"

Galan stood, while the translator was still speaking, and offered a single, deep bow.

*******

Kaitlyn had offered exactly what Kilik was hoping for,

"The trade syndicates of the Incandescent Nebula will know doubt wish to negotiate the establishment of international commerce. I will leave you in their capable hands. I must now, I'm afraid, bid you farewell"

Killik stood and smoothed down his robes, offering a final deep bow of respect. As he moved to open the door he turned;

"Know that the Serenitist will always come to the aid of the Tidani. It is not every-day we meet our long-lost brethren"

*******

Omnah reached inside his robes, and pulled out his own personal terminal. His eyes flickered about the tablet for a short while, his concentration clearly portraying his efforts to input the information necessary. He suddenly stopped, and rubbed the stubble on his chin. Leaning back, he re-engaged eye-contact with Marcus and Smithers,

"I am sorry, I did not realize the stance of your ancestors. Our primitive records show that you are the decendants of a race which posed no-ill will towards the Exiles. I am sure, we can work something out, regarding a visit to Serenity itself"

Omnah stood and slipped the tablet back into the overly-practical pockets of his robes, then offering a bow to his company, as a sign of respect.

"May peace follow in our wake"

the Incandescent Nebula: Borderlands

The stand-off was over. The relief on both sides was palpable, ad the Feazanthians lost in the Nebula were swiftly rediscovered. A single Communiqué emerged from the Serenitist fleet;

"My Apologies"

Then the mass of ships disappeared into the deep blue windows of Hyperspace. They, were going home.

Marcus Ohyes, "Thank you for your kindness, Sargent Smithers will be heading down to the trade area to deal with the merchants. I would like to discuss something minor with you."

He hands a datapad back to Smithers who takes the non-aggression treaty information back to the ship. The sample cases and other trade goods are put back on the float pad. The pad follows Smithers slowly back to the trading docks. There Smithers will make trade arrangements.

Marcus, "There is an extraordinary amount of ship traffic in this area. We would like the wormhole conduit to remain open for commercial and tourist traffic. This allows for faster transport of goods, a mere matter of hours for the wormhole conduit as compared to a longer space of time for hyperspace travel. We might expand its diameter slightly if you are willing."

Back at the ship, the watcher in the small room is directing the nano flies and two three foot disks. The disks are not moving but taking video and snapshots of the different ships in dock. The nanoflies have slipped inside the station. They are simply flying around inside of the harbor of Ishmael collecting information staying a good distance from sophonts.

Then at night she tries to get the nanoflies into the ion cannon station defenses area so she can get some close ups of the weapon defenses. She will destroy them if they are discovered. There are a few minute drops of clear silicate explosive inside them for this purpose.
