The Oizon War

Oizon

The nation of Oizon was quite peaceful, a newcomer onto the international stage. Despite the serenity a person could see when visiting this nation, they would not know that in some time tensions would erupt and fill the nation with feelings of conflict.....
----------------------------
The National Congress (descended from the old Legislative Assembly) of Oizon convened a special meeting for the day as there was a special issue to discuss. Politicians dressed in suits sat in their respective seats before the meeting officially began. Already has the Michiyo Empire and Oizon agreed to marry Queen Serena to an Imperial suitor. An Act of Congress, known as the "Act of Settling the Marriage of the Queen", or the Marriage Act had been passed into law, declaring Congressional support for the marriage.

Within days would the suitor arrive and marry the Queen, who waited in her home for any news of his arrival. As for her sister, the young Princess Amanda, she was to attend the marriage instead of staying at her boarding school.

All that was needed now was the arrival of the suitor......

A marriage of convenience.

Fabian Detlef Lukas, son of Eugen Lukas, High Steward of the Michiyo Empire. As the eldest of his father's children, and the favoured son of the Empire, Fabian had little choice in the selection of the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. Duty ruled him, honour bound him, and gripped him so tight that all struggle had ceased long ago.

The golden Sea of Oizon looked like liquid honey as the sun danced gleefully across her sultry waves. Teeming with life, unbound by the structure and restraint of men and coursing with a silent, unyielding strength fit to carve all petty, artificial creations into dust. He hated it.

Fabian turned away from the window and looked back into the cabin of the helicopter. His father Eugen sat opposite, his face stern as he gazed contemptuously toward the ocean below. Both were dressed in the black, spartan suits that were favoured by the Imperial military, tailored to request by the finest artisans of the capital.

The ocean disappeared, replaced by rolling green hills and hundreds of thousands of miles of Oizoni farmland punctuated by sprawling cities, grey blisters upon the landscape.

The pilot's voice screeched through his headphones, and the helicopter began its descent towards the Oizoni capital.

OOC: Aboard are High Steward Eugen Lukas, Fabian Detlef Lukas and six suited guards with sidearms. The chopper is big and black.

Only this post tonight, I have to get me to sleep. Hurrah for the beginning of your first roleplay.

Queen Serena recieved news that her suitor, Fabian Lukas had arrived. She was pleased to hear the swiftly sended message as she got herself dressed in a lovely dress that made her like a European noblewoman of the 19th Century.

Already preparations had been made for the new arrivals. A landing strip had been cleared off and reserved for the suitor and his envoy to land and disembark from their aerial transport. When they did disembark, a man who looked quite stern but calm came forward, surrounded by guards who looked as if they were from the Third Reich.

"Welcome to Oizon. I am Aleixandre de Blantyre, the Minister for Internal Security. It is an honor to meet the man who will marry our monarch." Aleixandre said calmly, as if he had said the words so much before. He led them to their limo and when they all got in, it sped off through the streets of the capital (Adrianople) towards Redwall.

Redwall, the Royal Palace, was named for its red colored walls that grace the palace, having done so since 1453. It was here that Queen Serena would be waiting for her suitor. Aleixandre, as he sat in the car, thought about this marriage, he did not really trust the suitor much but he would accept it.

When the suitor and his father were escorted to the Palace's doors and then inside, they found themselves amazed at the splendor of the palace, it was exquisitely decorated with paintings, portraits, sculptures and other things that befitted a royal palace.

Aleixandre stood motionless behind the visitors as he noticed Queen Serena slowly coming down the stairs. Her auburn colored hair was let to hang, she preferred it over the "tie and knot". Her skin a bit pale, her eyes shining blue, her body was slender and attractive, a prize indeed for any man.

Aleixandre uttered some words as he came forward and talked to the Queen in the native language. The Queen smiled at her visitors and bowed, at the same time a younger version of the Queen came to stand beside her. This was Princess Amanda, who was said to look like her sister, just in a younger form and she stood right beside her sister's right while Aleixandre stood to the left.

"It is an honor to meet you, Prince Fabian and High Steward Eugen. As you may have guessed, I am Queen Serena of Oizon." The Queen said softly and in a calm tone. Aleixandre stood motionless still, dressed in his dark grey uniform. It was now time for the visitors to make their move.

Fabian stood motionless as his father stepped forward, barely aware of anything save the Oizoni Queen.

She was beautiful.

Not the plastic "beauty" that stank of scalpels and disinfectant, but the natural radiance that would drive men to obsession. Beauty with a smile. With truth. He felt awkward in her presence.

"Your Majesty," said Eugen, bowing his head. His deep, familiar voice bringing Fabian back to reality as it broke the silence. "my son and I are honoured to be welcomed so gracefully to your house. We are not used to such magnificence."

He turned, one hand outstretched towards Fabian.

"If I may present to you my eldest son, Fabian."

OOC: Eugen (http://www.equilibriumfans.com/SetC-14-Church-SeanBean4.jpg)

I don't have a picture for Fabian yet, as I hadn't developed his character beyond the name. Just imagine him as a younger version. The suits are the same as worn by Grammaton Clerics in the film 'Equilibrium', because they are awesome and made of win.

How old is the Queen? I haven't even developed Fabian that far.

Serena smiled at her visitors with a charming smile filled with a sense of gladness. "Thank you for your compliments about my house and your reception." Serena said with gladness in her calm tone. She then looked at Fabian and smiled at him, studying him for a brief moment of time. "It is an honor to meet you at last."

Eugen and the others watched as Serena and Fabian began to talk to each other, in order they may know about each other more. "I trust you had a good flight?" Serena said to her suitor as they prepared to depart from the others to be alone.

OOC: Thank you for your information. As for how old the Queen is, I never thought of it but I am thinking around 18-25, I suppose somewhere around there for her age.

Fabian's eyes almost watered as she spoke to him, and his face reddened as he stammered a reply, half-glad as he said it that his father was already out of earshot. "...your Majesty, the honour cannot be anyone's but mine. The flight and the views were spectacular but, if you'll forgive my boldness, they bear nothing to finally meeting you."

The splendor of the palace was ever encroaching on his mind, and Fabian could not relinquish the idea that he was out of place. A glowering thistle among perfumed roses and sugared violets. "Are you entirely alone in this palace? I find myself almost lost within a single room..."

OOC: Let's say they're both twenty.

OOC: I was going for 18 for Serena but alright. Also, would you like to fast forward to the wedding and all that?

Queen Serena listened closely to what Fabian had to say before she gave him a smile. "Thank you for your compliment." Serena said as they walked together through the corridors and halls of Redwall Palace. Soon, Fabian asked another question and Serena paused to think of an answer, then she turned around and looked at her suitor.

"I live here with the staff." Serena said calmly to Fabian before they began to walk again. "My sister would live here, but she goes to a boarding school." She continued on with a calm tone as they walked through some more corridors, the splendor of the palace was a bit overwhelming for Serena's foreign suitor to handle.

OOC: The wedding shall be as any royal wedding would be. Also, perhaps you could make a post after the wedding about the birth of a child nine months later or so?

After some time, Fabian and Serena were engaged to be married. Dressed in a wedding dress befitting a monarch, Serena walked towards the altar where Fabian and his father stood, along with a minister who would officiate this event. Everyone cheered as the ringbearer came forward beside Princess Amanda, Serena's bridesmaid. Fabian could not help but try in vain to resist the gladness within him, he could not believe he was going to be marrying such a beautiful specimen of a lady.

The minister administered the vows and oaths which Fabian and Serena swore to observe and then they sealed it off with a kiss and then walked down the aisle and towards a limosuine in which they would go off to their honeymoon. No one there knew that in a couple of months or so that this marriage would have some.......problems.

The maternity ward was quiet. Fabian Lukas stood above his young son, gazing at him through his fingers as the full weight of his love hit him like a hammerblow.

"He's... he's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen..."

Sixteen hours in a waiting room had made him looking a little worse for wear. His white shirt was loose and creased, his cuff stained where he'd dropped his coffee after being asked to come into the ward and his face dark with stubble.

She stirred.

The doctors spent much time with Queen Serena, she seemed weak after the sucessful birth. Fabian was told to wait for a while until they were finished, he never saw the doctors trying so hard to keep her alive. Within a while, her eyes closed for the last time and her heart ceased. It was said her last words were a declaration of love for her husband.

A doctor came towards Fabian and began to speak solemly. "Your wife has.....passed away." he said a bit nervously. Fabian's heart shattered into tiny pieces as he heard those dreadful words. Swiftly, he ran to the room where his wife was and she laid there, motionless and not moving. It seemed his child would not have a mother.

(OOC: I thought I would have the mother's passing happen now, if it is alright with you.)

The heart of the Empire is the Imperial capital of Voda'kai. A city built to military precision, standard and planning. Reinforced concrete government buildings stand tall among tower blocks containing thousands of set-plan apartments where nuclear families lead lives of commendable servitude.

The only way to obtain Full Imperial Citizenship, and all the rights and privilege accompanying it, is service in the Imperial Armed Forces. While not compulsory, this is the reason that 91.52% of the adult population is a past or present serviceman. The remainder is unemployed.

"Gentlemen,"

The crack of wood upon wood echoed through the featureless chamber. The Imperial High Council, an assembly of old generals and veteran statesmen, held session in a hall twenty metres wide and forty long, with black carpeting and black walls dotted with the maps and ordnance surveys of a hundred nations.

Eugen Lukas rested his hammer upon the great table in the centre of the room, with thirty-two sets of eyes following his every move.

"Gentlemen," he said again, "the point is moot. In keeping with ancient tradition, the royal line of Oizon is now succeeded by Jochen Detlef of House Lukas, the House of the High Steward.

"This is not a question of whether we are in the right. It is the unavoidable end of a dynasty, which though painful to some, must not be resisted. Change happens, gentlemen, and to resist it only makes its' passage more disruptive.

"Jochen Detlef is the Prince of Oizon, but as a member of House Lukas he is foremost a son of the Empire, and subject to her will. By law of succession, Oizon is now an Imperial province and will follow Imperial law.

"There is no other acceptable action."

Operation Golf Perfect, thought Corporal Kyou Jochen. Who thinks up these damn names?

The CH-47 rocked from side to side, pounding Kyou's head with the noise of its blaring engine and ripping blades as he strained to keep hold of his harness. The platoon rechecked the straps on their L551 assault rifles. If they wanted to survive the next week, an L551 was their best friend.

"Ten seconds to ground side!" yelled the pilot. The platoon was ordered to unstrap themselves and get into position for a hot deployment. They hadn't any idea of the readiness of the enemy at this point, and a low grumbling in the pit of Kyou's stomach wasn't helping his self-confidence.

"FUCKING READY, LADS!" yelled the Lieutenant, "GO! GO! GO!"

There was a crash as the rear ramp was kicked out, and Kyou was running. His boots slammed into soft turf and for a moment he could see the entire platoon, bathed in moonlight. They quickly disappeared in shadows and bushes around the chopper, rifles high and ready. The rotors built up speed again and suddenly the only way out was through the enemy, the chopper just a humming drone on the breeze.

Kyou's earpiece crackled an order, and he waved his team stealthily forward into the night.

OOC: Assuming that you are too far away for me to just march over the border, I am going to make an airborne attack in your north before reinforcing with heavy infantry and armour as soon as possible. I have about a 2.2% military, which is very professional and equipped with lots of armoured fighting vehicles.

OPERATION GOLF PERFECT - Commanded by General Kurou Rainer. Objectives are to capture and secure any available airfields to allow reinforcements to arrive. Troops will air-supplied by C-130 Hercules aircraft until airfields are captured and a base of operations is established.
I Corps - Lieutenant-General Winton
1st Air Assault Division, 2nd Air Assault Division, 3rd Air Assault Division
II Corps - Lieutenant-General Benedikt
4th Air Assault Division, 5th Air Assault Division, 6th Air Assault Division
III Corps - Lieutenant-General Royal
7th Air Assault Division, 8th Air Assault Division, 9th Air Assault Division

Each Air Assault Division is composed of three Airborne brigades, one anti-tank brigade and one anti-air brigade.

Total: 102,600 Airborne Infantrymen, 1944 ATGM vehicles, 1944 SAM vehicles, 1944 FO vehicles, 5832 IFVs, 2700 Command vehicles

ATGM - Anti-Tank Guided Missile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATGM)
SAM - Surface-to-Air-Missile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface-to-Air_Missile)
FO - Forward Observer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_observer)
IFV - Infantry Fighting Vehicle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IFV)

This kind of detail took me a few days of calculating numbers to be able to just call up a force like this. Try creating standard sizes for formations (Platoon, Company, Battalion, Brigade, etc.) so that when you go to war you can say "I deploy three divisions" and then have the numbers right there, already calculated. I use a random name generator (http://www.behindthename.com/random/) for the names of officers.

News of Queen Serena’s passing shocked the entire nation of Oizon to its core. While the Congress debated what to do about succession, a group of politicians already knew who they wanted. The politicians, known as the “Nationals” for their desire to keep the national royal line in its place demanded Princess Amanda be recognized as the lawful Queen of Oizon. They did not take too kindly to a possible extinction for their independence and sovereignty. They met at a manor where they wrote the “Covenant of Oizon”, and they were soon given the name of “Covenanters”, signifying their covenant made amongst themselves to protect the nation from any enemy. The group was led by Boniface Kenmore, a concerned politician.
------------------------
Princess Amanda had been smuggled out of her boarding school by Royal Guardsmen who would protect her in case anything went wrong. The possible contestant for the throne of Oizon was told she had to be moved to another location and she consented to it without a fight, though she was at first reluctant. The Oizon military was on high alert and the Prime Minister of Oizon; Declan Graves ordered that caution be exercised. Queen Serena’s corpse was taken to a mausoleum in the capital where she would be laid to rest (OOC: Like Lenin in Moscow)
-----------------------
The Oizon Army had soldiers stationed all over the place, which included the airfields. Kyou had been marching towards one of the several airfields in the area and one that was heavily garrisoned. As he walked closer and closer to the battle that awaited him, his peers in his group launched their attack and a bloodbath started. Loud explosions happened everywhere as bullets flew in all directions. The battle was fierce and bloody as both sides fought ruthlessly to achieve their goal.......

OOC: I can give you a hand with that. I'll show you how I made mine.

Can I get some approximate numbers for your troops at the airbases?

IC:

The Imperial forces fought with merciless professionalism. The twelve airfield objectives came under heavy fire from combined airborne infantry and Infantry Fighting Vehicles, their 30mm cannons ripping holes in concrete, steel, sandbags and men as white-hot rounds washed over the defenders' positions.

Supporting the attack were specialist anti-tank and anti-air vehicles, adding their firepower on request. The few enemy armoured vehicles stationed at the airbases were shredded by man-portable anti-tank weaponry, while any aircraft on the ground were reported and targeted by ATGM carriers.

The Imperial troops were under orders not to advance into the airbases until dawn, when their numbers had been concentrated around their targets.

The sun broke over the sprawling wreckage of the Oizoni defences, and with it came the chattering of automatic fire. The Imperials were awake, they were ready, and they were attacking.

Infantry teams dashed from cover to cover, their weapons blazing. Bullets tore at every enemy position, with armoured vehicles providing heavy suppressing fire from the treeline.

It was only a matter of time until the airfields fell.

OOC: Let me try now to push back the enemy.

The Oizoni defenders began to regroup and fight valiantly for their beloved homeland. Machine guns and rifles began shooting their deadly ammunition all over the place while other soldiers began to advance, trying to check off the enemy soldiers.

If the Imperials wanted the airfields, they'd have to fight for and earn them.
