The Oizon War and Other Things (Information and Signup)
Hello everyone. After reading the threads on this forum, I decided to make one myself. I hope people will consider joining in and helping to make it an at least good story.
Here is my story:
The nation of Oizon is a newcomer onto the international stage, it is a peaceful nation of hard working people. However, there is trouble brewing in the capital. The reigning dynasty is collapsing because of a "shortage of blood". The reigning monarch, Queen Serena may be the last member of her centuries old dynasty to reign. She only has one sibling, the 14 year old Princess Amanda.
In a plan to continue the dynasty they treasure, the National Congress searches for a foreign suitor to help maintain royal order. They choose a suitor they like and he marries the Queen. However, what no one knows is that the homeland of the suitor plans to annex Oizon after a while. Either Oizon will fall before the enemy armies or it will be protected by wings of deliverance.
--------------------------
The story was based upon things like the Hundred Years War. I would like a similar conflict (not a 100 year long one though) to arise between my nation and another with other nations choosing sides to support. Whoever decides they want to be the suitor must allow a war between Oizon and their nation.
As for how the war should begin, here are some ideas I made up for reasons:
1. A problem in succession
2. International feud between the two nations
3. Reports of the suitor's nation planning an invasion
If anyone is interested in joining this, please do not hesistate to join. For any questions, etc ask me and I will try my best to answer them. Thank you to anyone who reads this, thank you for your time.
Well The Holy Republic of Bynamar would be happy to start a war with your nation. We will have an issue of invasion. We will invade your country and you can start a battle between us.
If you choose too then I can start the war with you.
Bynamar, thank you for your interest in joining. One question though. Do you have a suitor for my nation's monarch? I was hoping that the nation of the suitor could invade.
Whats a suitor? anyway we will invade within 20 mins.

My nation's a constitutional monarchy of enough sorts to start a war over this. A suitable suitor (:P) would be the son of the High Steward. In the event of the current Queen's death, I could make an attempt to amalgamate Oizon into the Empire in the fashion of Wales to Great Britain, which would spark the war.

Thank you for your interest. I think that would be a good idea, though I did not really plan on the Queen's passing (but I could try it out). My story draws influences from the Hundred Years War but I think your idea of your nation amalgamating Oizon like Wales to Great Britain would not be a bad idea at all.

Apart from the name of the suitor (Fabian Detlef Lukas), are there any details you would like prior to the roleplay?

Thank you for the name (I was picturing an Asian sounding name due to your nation's name). As for details, I was wondering how you would like the conflict between us to start.
Here are some ideas:
1. A problem in succession
2. International feud between the two nations
3. Reports of the suitor's nation planning an invasion
We could try a mix of all three if possible.

As for the complication in succession, I imagine it might be likely that your own people would rather have a native Queen than a foreign Prince. The feud between the two nations would likely be the Empire's belief in it's own superiority over your nation due to the male monarch (thus by default usually dominant) being son of the High Steward, and the reports of invasion would be more along the lines of the 1938 German Anschluss with Austria, though with a slightly less willing partner.
For names, I usually use a mix of German, Japanese, Korean, Danish and Greek names to represent multiculturalism.

You have a good idea there. Perhaps, we could have it a possible heir problem or something like that also. Your idea is quite nice and I would enjoy roleplaying with you. I am hoping we can start the roleplay now, perhaps with some background or a meeting of the Queen and Prince.

Well, the heir problem would be simple. We have a choice of a stillborn, complications in birth leading to the death of the child, or impotency in either of the parents.

Or we could have a child fully healthy and then a problem between whether that child should take priority in succession. Your ideas are alright too, never really thought of any of them myself.

There's always the possibility that one of the parents might die, though of course this option is biased towards the mother if it's tied to the birth.

That could be a good idea to try. I would like to know what you would like to try out. Perhaps we could have the healthy birth but complications leading to the mother's funeral?

Hey, great idea for a role-play. Very unique.
I don't actually have a royal family (and of those I have, only Zadarain is alive, and he's already married), but I'd be glad to enter - say, as a nation wanting peace. It might be even better if you were geographically located near me, which might make me want peace more - though the Grand Democratic Duchy of Yafor 2 always wants peace.
Just throwing ideas out here, though. I'm just here to show my interest - nice to see a new RP'er, especially one with ideas like this.
EDIT: I have to run, though, so, if you are interested, telegram or MSN or IRC me.

Thank you very much for your compliments. You are welcome to join if you'd like, I was looking for other nations to intervene perhaps in the conflict as it goes on. Again, thank you.

I think it would be easiest to start a war if the native royal line was made effectively extinct. Any child of the pair would be considered part of the Imperial dynasty rather than the Oizon.
The Oizon could make a break as a Republic after that, but end up being invaded to keep them within Imperial influence.

That sounds like a good idea, though I think I'd want to maintain Oizon's constitutional monarchy. So, can I assume we will use this as a reason for the conflict over the others? If so, is it possible to start the roleplay now?

If you'd like to make the first post and outline the situation to your satisfaction, and post the link to the IC thread here or TG it to me, I'll be in as soon as I can.

The general idea of this thread interests me and I would like to get involved, though perhaps not full-scale. My nation could support either side with weapons, money and small amounts of troops in the hopes of gaining influence with the victor once this thing ends. What sort of economic system or political system do you follow, as it will influence my nation's decision.

I thank you for your interest in this. You are welcome to join and as for my economic/political system(s), I never really thought of them much, so far I have Oizon as a constitutional monarchy.

Getting my 'play gloves on.
You can send the suitor now. Also, would you like them to have a child now or later?

I think if we do some meeting rp first, then snap to them as married/deaded and with the child.

That is fine by me. Also, shall we assume that the mother unfortunately did not survive the birth process while her child did?
can i join
Sure, but do not join now. It will be later on in the story when other nations can join.
