For those who have watched or read one of the most amazing of animes, Death Note, I'm thinking of starting a roleplay revolving this infamous murder weapon. For those who do not know what a Death Note is, it's a killer notebook, in a sense.

You write a name down while imagining their face - in 40 seconds, they will die. If no death is mention, they will die of a heart attack. You can also determine when they die, how they die, in what condition their corpse is to be found and what they were doing before they died. As such, these rules can lead to quite a killing.

The story will follow the typical Yagami Light plotline - a bored genius who is given the Death Note begins to kill serial murderers and criminals in an attempt to cleanse the world and become the almighty god. However, the protagonist won't be Yagami Light, and it won't be just one detective, but rather anyone willing to join.

I need someone willing to use the Death Note, first. You need to be competent at making plot twists and outsmarting your opponents.

I fail to see how this is II-related. By nature, such a thing would be focused on one-on-one interactions, rather than stuff of a 'national' nature.

A serial killer killing other serial killers through supernatural means opens up avenues for nations to suspect other nations, believe organizations, corporations or entire nations to be backing him up, causing even possibly rifts of distrust amongst allies. There's quite a bit of international politics that can be involved if you look a bit closer.

This supernatural flair makes it all the more difficult for characters and countries to deal with this sort of event. You talk about realism when you let Sardaukar run rampant. The only supernatural thing is the Note itself; nothing else will go past that.

II? Realistic? *snigggers*

Could be fun, although there's a lot of pitfalls. Who gets the Death Note? Who gets to play the Shinigami? How helpful is said Shinigami? That, and since we've seen the show, we probably won't fall for the tricks Light fell for, and thus catching said killer becomes exponentially more difficult...

Of course, if they can be solved, it'd be quite fun to RP.

-There won't be a shinigami. As well, the eyes probably won't be included as an options, since that would make things significantly easier.

-As I've stated earlier, I'm looking for someone to play the role of the protagonist, upon which they will possess the Death Note.

-Since some have seen the tricks Light has fallen for, it's also a double edged sword. Others will use other tricks, or some might even force the protagonist to use the same tricks again. We're not even sure if the person playing the protagonist has even watched Death Note before.

I will do it, if no one steps up to the plate.

However, with some cooperation and planning, I have a way to make these notebook killings more "realistic" to some skeptical NS'ers.

Years of RP'ing experience have given me quite the ability to twist plots and stay above my enemies....however, I must reassure you that I am not a pompous RP'er. I merely like a good RP.

Hearing that the note itself is the only supernatural component in the rp is enough for me to want in on this. This could be a very good character rp about someone who comes across the death note and struggles with his sense of morality and justice upon being given such a powerful instrument. As well as the reaction by the police whenever they discover the concept of the death note as well.

I only saw a small amount of the series and don't have the knowledge of the different traps used to try and capture the protagonist, can someone give examples for knowledge's sake.

No magical circle or special powers were used in Death Note (except for the Shinigami eyes, but that's not going to be in this one); it was through deductions and puzzles from both sides. When people died, they died; no immortality.
