Ryan Getzlaf walked all around the school putting up posters for a new club.


ATTENTION ALL QUIDDITCH PLAYERS:

We are forming a Quidditch team for our school. Please see Ryan Getzlaf, Captain, for information. Tryouts will be held when enough players arrive. The Quidditch Team will play rival magic schools. If there is enough people, two teams may be created for this school.

OOC: Just have your guy showing up in the Quidditch stadium outside the school. My guy will be there.

Thomas Levitt saw Ryan putting one of the posters on the wall and hurried over.

"Hey, Quidditch should be fun here. We never got together enough people for full teams back home. I'm Thomas, by the way, and I'm a Chaser."

"Hi Thomas," said Ryan. "I'm a Seeker for a team back in my home country. So, once we get enough people, we can start practicing and the like. Try to get other people to join!"

Suddenly another young boy joined the group. An odd looking Character, he was dressed in purple dress robes that looked like they had been pulled straight from the 70's, his brown hair was in long dreadlocks that went down a little past his his shoulders. To top it all off he was wearing round John Lennon style sunglasses, even though they were still inside.

"Hey, Aggy Schackleford, you guys play Quidditch? I'm a Beater, I got me own club and everything. What positions do you cats play?"

"Um, hello. Yes, I'm the Captain of the Team. I play Seeker. Ryan Getzlaf," he said, putting his hand out to shake. "This is Thomas, he plays Chaser. There, we got ourselves a team! Kind of. The basic positions are covered."

Aggy grinned and took the offered hand.

"Man, I had some crazy times back at home playing with me mates. Some times we would play drunk as hell...nothin' is more intense then flyin' around on your Nimbus 2001 with a bludger behind ya and a butter beer in yer hand ha ha ha!"

"Really?" asked Ryan. As a first-year, he looked up to pretty much everyone. (and it didn't help he was probably the shortest person in the school). "Did you play on a club team? I played on the Guillentown QC Junior Team, they got all mad at me when I quit to come here."

"Neh, it was just me and a couple of me mates. There ain't no Quidditch clubs in Szartopia, it really ain't a famous sport there." Aggy looked Ryan up and down "You a first year? Me too. Yeh, thats good, I don't know any cats in this place" he said, looking around sadly, "I think I'm the only one from Szartopia here, its a pretty small country."

Alex walked up to Ryan "Hi! I'm Alex. I play Keeper for my local team, Portadown Pythons. I'm the starting keeper for my county as well" he smiled, "You need a humble keeper such as myself?" he asked looking around at the others.

"Well, hello, Alex," said Ryan. "I'm Ryan Getzlaf, first-year and temporary Captain." Puts out his hand to shake. "Well, I'm a Seeker, Aggy there is a Beater, Tom is a Chaser, so yah, we could have you. Welcome to the team."

"Great!" he said rubbing his hands togather "I haven't had the chance to play all summer, with other things. It'll be good to get on a broomstick again"

He looked at Ryan again closely squinting as if he recogonised him "You haven't an older brother have you? I happen to remember somebody similiar to you putting us out of the Youth Cup a few years back"

"Um, possibly," said Ryan, looking uncomfortable. "I did make the VDB team, what nation are you from? Then again, it could have been my sister Samantha. She looks something like me. Oh, yeah, she'll be on the team. That means all we need are a Beater and a Chaser."

"Alversia" He said proudly, "Starting Keeper for the last four years running. Won the Youth Cup once and runner up in another. We were knocked out by VDB in the quarters of the fourth one. I remember we were ahead when a certain Sneeker did his job and put us out" His face was hard, but the eyes were friendly and teasing. "Crafty little bugger he was too" he smiled this time.

"Whoa!" Aggy said looking at Ryan, "You mean to say you have a sister? Is she a foxy mama, mate?" He asked, not realizing the potential awkwardness of the question.

"Um, you'll see her," said Ryan.

And then Sam turned the corner. "Hi guys, you guys trying out for Quidditch?" she asked. "I'm a Chaser, and this is my dorky older brother by five minutes."

"Hi, Sam," said Ryan. "Um, I was also thinking that maybe we could elect a Captain, so I'm just temporary Captain, after the Quidditch tryouts."

Alex's face dropped in astonishment when Sam came round the corner "You scored 60 points past me!" he said in an indignant but playful manner "Congradulations. No one's come close to that total since. I'm the Keeper by the way" he smiled and extended his hand. He was going to like this team.

"Um," said Sam, shaking his hand. "Um, oh, oh yeah! Alversia! I remember that! You were pretty darn good, it's just that your Chasers weren't exactly."

"I know" he shake shrugging "Bad performance all round, but we've improved for this year" he said slyly "What Club team do you play for?" he asked casually. He was already thinking of the league table with Portadown Pythons nicely at the top.

"Well, me and my brother play for Granderson City QC," she said. "That is, the Junior Team. But we had to quit to come here."

"Oh...never heard of 'em to be honest. But then I suppose you've never heard of my team either" He thought for another moment "Successful? If your team's anything like the Internationals, you should be swimmnig in silverware"

"Yes," said Sam, smirking, as she thought of her room back in the VDB. "The senior and junior teams are the most successful in the VDB."

To everyone, "Who wants to go onto the pitch and practice a bit?"

"Well, I do," said Ryan.

"Sure" Alex began to stretch his shoulders "I could do with a warm up" He went off to get his broom "See you there in a few moments" He also needed to get his lucky keeper gloves.

"OK, guys, we're going outside." said Sam as she and Ryan went to go get their Firebolts.

Alex ran up to his room and snatched his own Firebolt and lucky Keeper's gloves. The same gloves he'd worn when they had won the League and Cup double two years ago. He always wore them when he needed a helping hand. Boy did he need one now.

Aggy was waiting on the pitch, Beater club in one hand, and Broomstick in the other. The Club was a nasty piece of work. It was regulation size and weight, but covered in scratches, crude carvings, and stickers of demonic symbols and famous wizarding bands.

The broomstick wasn't much better off. It was a Nimbus 2000, or at least it had been at one time. The finish on the handle was gone, and like the club, it was covered in all sorts of carvings and scratches. The Label "Nimbus 2000" had been scratched off, replaced by the letters "AQS". The broom's tail was even worse. The twigs that made up the tail were no longer sleek and straight, those that remained were bent and crunched.

"Hey, you," said Samantha, looking Aggy up and down. Ryan walked onto the pitch. He got onto his broomstick and flew towards the locker rooms where he got out a case containing, of course, two Bludgers, one Quaffle, and the Golden Snith and brought it out.

"Hey yourself.." Aggy replied, moving his eyebrows up and down in what he hoped was seductively. "You wanna maybe get a butterbeer or somethin' after this?"

She was good-looking, that was true. A lot cuter then them girls at home. he thought, Really pretty eyes, sorta look like Ryan's...aw Dammit!

Thomas kicked his own Nimbus broom off the ground, he'd carefully sanded off the year number on it, although amongst all the firebolts, it was obviously outclassed whatever it was. Circling low, he called to Ryan for the Quaffle and pelted a looping shot for Alex to chase to the goal-hoops.

"Um, sure," said Sam, casually, as she kicked off.

Ryan threw Thomas the Quaffle. "Hey, I was thinking I'd just play with the Quaffle considering I could be chasing the Snitch for days."

Tom grinned and nodded after the looping pass.

"Alex doesn't seem to have noticed that, lets see if that Firebolt of yours can catch up to it."

Ryan looked at the Quaffle. Then he was gone. He burned up the air, absolutely fast. The Quaffle was about to hit the ground. He'd done this before with a Snitch. He stood up on his broom and grabbed it, but then he fell off. "I got it!" he said.

Alex kicked off with his own Firebolt and flew a lap or two around the pitch, just to get the feel of the broom again. Once he was happy, he flew over to the goals and readied himself "Bring it on!" he shouted to the others.

"Here, let me try," said Sam. She took the Quaffle and swung towards the goalposts, a fly-by. She immediately faked towards the sides and behind herself to her brother who faked the center and left hoop, putting it towards the right.

OOC: Do any of you have HP Quidditch World Cup?

Alex was able to react quickly and roll around to catch the quaffle easily. He held for a moment, looking for a target before throwing back to Sam "You'll have to try harder!" he laughed and prepared himself for the next shot.

"OK then!" said Sam. She simply came up, looked Alex straight in the eye (assuming he's at the center post) and threw right, hoping to catch him off guard.

OOC: I own it, it's so awesome! I just thought it'd be cool to do some of the moves in there.

Thomas caught up to the others and hovered a little way back, waiting for the Quaffle to come to him or for an opportunity to tackle.

"Here, Thomas," said Sam, pulling up next to him. "I don't think we've met. I'm Sam, Ryan's brother." She held out her hand to shake.

OOC: I just want to say, even though this is an inconveniet time, I'm going on vacation for 6 days starting tonight. (my school starts next week).

Sam's throw manged to cath Alex off guard, but using pure instinct he lunged desperately to his left and just managed to knock the quaffle against the outside of the ring. The Quaffle bounced off and flew to the ground "Phew!" That was close!" he said happily.

Rejected by Sam, Aggy went off to practice his art. Unfortunately he realized he was the only Beater on the team. No matter, he could train on his own.

Walking a fair ways away from the others, Aggy released one Bludger and then ascended into the sky. Of course he couldn't really hit the bludgers at the players, but the Bludgers were enchanted so they would only attack him.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, the Bludger zoomed straight at his face. Aggy dodged it, and then hit it with a mighty whack!. The Budger soared off, but then suddenly came back again even faster. The Bludger was enchanted so that it would continuously attack Aggy for ten minutes. This was going to be great.
