After hearing of your realm via this broadcast, I decided that it would do well for us to initiate contact at once Your Majesty. We in the United Socialist States of Wagdog are home to many breeds of people, including a fair wereperson minority whom you may find most accommodating of any tourists wishing to visit our country from yours; though all of us whether Human or Vampire or Elven like myself would accept you as well, regardless. I beg of TSWP leaders to reconsider the invasion of the small nation of Kitsuneville. It is simply a barbaric and pointless war. It accomplishes nothing more than death and destruction. We would be among the forefront of nations to recive refugees, however, there is no need to disrupt these people's way of life as they have not threatened any nation's sovereignty, or threatened to attack any nation. I believe that the consequences of destroying this nation will outweigh the nonexistent benefits.

Through out the sprawling administration building, computers hummed and whirled with quiet activity, information was disbursed and analysed, plans made, strategies and tactics reveiwed, training programs implimented, with all the pared down practicality and effeciency of a military machine.

The Acting Secretary of State was indeed having, as the Humans put it, one of those nights. It seemed as if one of the most reliable allies Wagdog had ever known, The Socialist States of The World Soviet Party, had suddenly taken a turn for the darker. And the General Secretary was taking it out on her it seemed.

"I would REALLY like to know what's going through his head right now!" He knew it was impossible, at least not with the current intelligence presence in Red City operating from the Wagdian Embassy in The World Soviet Party; but that only made the wanting worse. "The Binarians I could expect somethng like this from, but HIM!? That's twice in a row counting those Kal'Har we're still evacuating from Soviet Cazelia."

Lady Uralia Tíliel nós Kharlir, said Acting Secretary of State, didn't particularly feel like arguing the point. "I suspect Shazbotdom or Wanderjarian influence in this. No more, but the change in Soviet policy does seem to dovetail neatly with their creation of the Soviet Commonwealth and joining with those powers all the same." A Commonwealth which, ironically, Wagdog aimed to join if it ever could catch a break from snap military crises like these. "What do you intend to do?" I am growing most concerned at the conduct of my Soviet allies, but most of all the New Prussian Empire member Binaria. Based upon what I can vouch for was precedent in Cazelia, I don't believe the Soviets intend genocide in Kitsuneville; but the Binarians have plainly stated otherwise. Although it wounds me, I understand your aversion to self-proclaimed Revolutionary governments; but there are greater issues at stake here than the usual jousting we indulge in, namely the safety of five million innocent nationals in Kitsuneville and their inexperienced Queen.

I am mobilizing a Numbered Air Force, and more if necessary, to do my part in evacuating these innocents out of harms way; with force in their defense if necessary. But, and this must remain strictly confidential, we shall not fire upon Soviet forces under any circumstances except in self-defense. Binarian forces, for the moment, may be a different matter depending on how seriously they take their threats of genocide; but for now we feel that focusing on evacuation and fighter-escort operations by air would be the most efficient means of evacuating so small a population from the strike zone.

In particular, we would most appreciate the coooperation of His Majesty's Government and the Royal Clandonian Air Forces in evacuating Kitsune Civilians and, should our embassy for them prove an untenable shelter, the Kitsune government-in-exile. Being that they are another monarchy like yourselves, perhaps Clandonia and the Haven would be a safer shelter than what we can provide here in Lazarus and our Wagdian territories. We will do what we must, but if indeed Clandonia could find it in its heart to work with even a 'Red' nation in saving lives, it would go farther still towards easing the bitterness your war against our Vetakan allies left between us. As a show-of-force, the entire Seventeenth Air Force was up and preparing to take part in this massive evacuation operation. FA-15D Cardinals, FA-16B Priests, Candid and Condor and Cossack transports, plus Mainstay AWACS and Midas Tankers by the hundreds; all took off from their bases and made westward towards Kitsuneville across the wide ocean. Multiple refuellings would be required, and missile load was relatively low due to the need for many underwing tanks to be carried even with aerial refuelling support, but all the same it didn't matter. Wagdog was going in to protect innocents yet again, even in as tense a situation as this.

And this time, if needed, it would turn to the support of an old enemy to ensure lives were saved. A strange turn of events, but for now there was no alternative. Well, no honorable alternative anyway; however the situation yet played out. The forces involved wouldn't cross into the operations zone until approved by the Kitsune, for obvious reasons, but they wanted absolutely minimal delay between that approval coming and their ability to act upon it.

“Yes, please send two Georgia Island class carriers with escorts, if possible, and get me Peale 11 and Hourglass 11 ASAP.”

“Consider it done.” And then the link was severed.

The order had been sitting as if ready in Olde Towne, though the fact that the Georgia Island carriers and the two Roe class battleships were stationed at that base at the perfect time was just coincidence. The ships moved out under full power, a small force yes, but one to be reckoned with if things got ugly. It was a six and a half day voyage from Olde Towne to Kitsunville, but it passed quite quickly.

A pair of ‘Tigerclaw’ fighter jets zoomed away with synchronized sonic booms, each carrying wing attached external fuel tanks, and ready to receive fuel from an already airborne tanker at the half way point to Kitsunville. Still, they only carried six missiles per plane. In hours they would arrive.

You are correct that it is better to see these nations in Soviet hands than others', and that should be allowed. Hence, I believe we've actually arrived at a solution for future issues.

Now I'm not formally an SC member yet, due to too many pesky fights I might get into at the moment which could make a liar of me before the statutes; which I respect you, Fuehrer Baker and Emperor Leotardia more than enough to not desire happen. Hence, I may have to wait a bit longer before joining. But, I will mention the SC to the Kitsune when they reply to me, emphasizing that nothing about them need change in the slightest save that they would be affiliated with our Soviet and other comrades; with all responsibilities and benefits thereof. Meanwhile Clandonian ballistic missile warning systems and Royal Navy and Royal Air Force Ocean Reconnaissance Satellites had detected the Khan launch. Seeing the threat of the large missile against the relatively primative carriers the Royal Air Force Space Command authorised one of the Delta Constellations 'Brilliant Pebbles' from a RAF Space Arc to intercept the missile as it entered space.

Several dozen kinetic kill satellites moved in on the missile, their small engines propelling them to high speed. Despite the Khans impressive countermeasure package they were susceptible to Brilliant Pebble attack as utilised by the Questerians in the Haven War. The Binarian fleet was detected by imaging satellites and the targets given to Bomber Command likely ready for a Sabre mission to drop guided munitions from orbit in the hope of protecting Kitsuneville long enough before a Fast Battleship or Submarine Squadron arrived.

The C-5 Galaxy had taken off from Vetaka 18 Hours ago landing at Vetakan Defence Force Military Base Flanders in (VDFMB) Honako it had refuelled and flown onto Andrews Air force Base in Helclicta where it had again refuelled and had now arrived at its current position just outside of Kitsuneville Airspace. The Plane which was designated as "strategic heavy airlift aircraft" that flew over intercontinental distances. However today the Cargo Compartment of the aircraft was rather empty filled only with 2 Men in Tribal Robes bent over a makeshift desk which had Maps, Satellite Pictures, Intelligence Reports, Command Reports and a Laptop Strewn Across it. The men deep in Conversation had to roar over the thunder of the Galaxies Engines.

In Front of them facing outwards towards the rear Cargo Door of the Aircraft was a HMMWV with a Heavy Machine Gun attached to the top. The Back of the Vehicle was full of Equipment, Weaponry and Ammunition. The Vehicle was strapped into a Para drop Cage ready to be dropped into the nation of Kitsuneville. Whether they landed within the nation or made the drop it didn’t matter the White Phoenix Tribal Scout Warriors where ready for any situation. The Alienware Laptop on the desk burst into life opening a secured Instant Message System:

Doors swung back on their beautifully polished fixings, slamming their vicious knobs against frescoes hundreds of years old. Monks several rooms away slowly slipped to their feet and found went to find tasks as far away as possible from the enraged door.

“Damn them all of them.” The Cardinal shouted as another set of doors burst open onto a sunny hall, cast blue and green with the tint of the stained windows. He seethed for a moment, turned and stomped back through the doors he had so recently flung open. He found another pair very shortly later and bashed them open.

“Can’t they take a hint? Is the word protection to hard to hard for them?”

“From what I hear, mostly, yes sir.”

The Cardinal gave his aide a sharp look, then relaxed his hands on another set of fine doors, “Well, thank you for that. It’s hard enough combating vulgarity out there” The doors opened and Harold Thouis, the second most powerful man in the empire, took a seat behind a Spartan desk. Compared with the lavishness of the Cathedral, it’s massive bulk, it’s far flung wings and obscure nunneries, it was a simple room with only the barest furnishings, furniture with more in common with sticks then the trappings of a devilish cardinal.

“Still sir,” the aide said as he sat chummily upon a chair, although not too heavily, “we could twist the message. Um… Say protect them spiritually, instead of the everyday no genocide part.”

“Frankly I couldn’t care either way. It is not my job to protect every little aspect of living nature, my duty is to those of the Holy Church, everyone else can suffer through an eternity in the nether most circle of hell.” The Cardinal had removed a stack of papers from his desk drawer, and was flipping through them, his anger starting to boil up again after every sheet.

“John,” Thousis said, as he read the rather inarticulate last words of heretic burned just this morning, “It doesn’t matter who signed that damn letter it will be my Divine Legion slogging through some swamp protecting cuddly fox creatures, or whatever we promised to protect. Do you think anything can be done, I shouldn’t like a war where we have nothing to gain.”

“Your Imminence,” the aide stood and bowed from the waist, “if you wish to dissuade the Emperor from his path the only option left to you, is to pray. Now if a may be excused I’m expected in the nunnery in half an hour. I do apologize if you had work for me.” The aide bowed again and loosened his collar on the way out of the Cardinal’s office.

Perhaps prayers worked, the Cardinal had never invested any time in praying, nor it’s associated piety, he had always focused on the aspects of humanity that could be twisted of if the thumb screw was placed just so. The way to a man’s heart, well there were many of them, but fear usually sufficed, perhaps it would now.

Fortunately, though, they acted honorably insofar as our forces also there on unrelated operations can attest; and far more so than the Binarians would've had Clandonia not thwarted them so effectively. Odd, that old enemies of ours such as the Imperial Kingdom of Clandonia Prime may yet help us; but relations between the USSW and IKCP have slowly been warming after a long time of mutual hatred from afar, and look set to improve even if much trust remains to be built first.

Bah! I ramble Your Majesty; foolish of me, but a habit. In any case, we can continue the embassy exchange that was so rudely interrupted by this crisis. General Roger MacKenzie stared at the operators' various radar and such consoles, keeping an overall awareness of the tactical and logistical situation of the Seventeenth Air Force which he commanded. Suffice it to say, he was growing anxious. No aggressive action had been taken yet, aside from some deployments to the area, but it was best to remain vigilant until such time as the situation truly calmed down. His thoughts were roughly, "No sense in getting caught in our skivvies now...

Hence, he politely asided a radio operator, a certain brunette Senior Lieutenant Melanie Vicks, and broadcast to the tower at Oka AB where the Vetakan C-5 had made it in. "Attention, Oka Tower and whatever other Control has authority over Kitsuneville Airspace. This is General MacKenzie commanding the Wagdian Seventeenth Red Army Air Force, and we need some information.

Originally, we were coming here to bail out your government and as many of your people as we could to safety from the Soviets and or Binarians. Now that both seem to have backed off, though, we can just drop off our embassy's skeleton staff and be on our way if you require it. But to do that, we need your word in the matter either way. We only have enough fuel to get back home if we refuel aerially soon; too much longer a wait, and we'll need to land at least briefly and gas up whatever it is we do here. If you want us to hang around a bit to make sure it's all clear, or else to just ramble on home like good guests so asked, either is fine; but we must know ASAP or else we might need to start swimming home soon. General MacKenzie, Red Eye 17-1 out."

And with that, the waiting to see just what Wagdog could do in this matter anymore began. Whatever the Kitsunes' decision, it would be respected without question. But all the same General MacKenzie felt that a brief period of operations from Oka, to cover the various diplomatic functions he'd heard Intel mention might be starting down there already, would send a nice message indeed to those others who might interpret any premature lowering of guard as weakness.

But that was not, in the end, Wagdog's message to send. No, Wagdian forces could only be the messengers of it for the Kitsune; and only if they so chose to send it via Wagdian means. Either way, it was certain that a decision of some sort would come; and soon.
