OOC: It's a tad short, but I've managed to screw up my hands more than a tad. Typing is hard right now. So posts may continue to be a bit short until my hands get better.

IC: Fy'ria, latest colony of the Tau Empire. A settlement of some two million Tau was on the surface - as well as a few thousand Orks, the disease that had infected many outer colonies from time to time. They had been driven away from the main settlements, several tio've dispatched to annihilate them.

Nevertheless, it was several weeks transit from the nearest major sept, and, were it not for the fleet that had been dispatched, it would've had no chance at all. Six Il'Fannor-class starships had been brought to the world in order to re-establish order, and ensure that the colonists knew that the Greater Good still supported them. Fy'ria was not important overly in the scheme of things, but it was believed that several inhabitable worlds were in the vicinity of the system. With the development of Fy'ria into a full sept, many more oppurtunities would open up in the area. Indeed, it would serve to ensure that the Tau Empire would be much harder to attack, and catch by surprise.

A single Demiurg Stronghold-class commerce vessel was frequenting the system as well, having been paid well by the Tau to transport a huge amount of factory machinery, which would be used to produce weapons and other useful commodities on a colonial world, and troop transports as well, so that Fy'ria would not have to rely on weaponry shipments, which could so easily be disrupted by warp storms, or traders, so heavily.

All six Il'Fannor ships carried a pair of Orca-class escorts, and such a concentration of strength had not been seen for some time above Fy'ria.

Lastly, a trio of orbital units sat above Fy'ria, ensuring that none could land without permission. All were equipped with fighters, Orca gunships, and an ion cannon. Although hardly a formidable fleet in the scheme of things when considering the fleets of the Tau in the central worlds, it was enough to dispatch most raiders with ease. However, what they were to face was not raiders. It was something far, far worse.

"Kor'ui, we have something on sensors."

The first words of the Air Caste navigator, as the enemy burst onto the scene..

The recon forces of the Cybernetic Armada were currently on patrol for new planets and humans to incorporate into the Union. The Cybernetic Union had for years been fighting a war against other sentient life forms in the Galaxy. The Patron once a man that was considered to be one of the most powerful dictators of his time had already passed on but before his ailing body gave out his thoughts and memories were downloaded from his cybernetic brain and were the blue prints for the new Patron a powerful A.I. system bent on keeping up the great work of Patron Stormberg.

The new Patron with it’s massive computerized intellect finally came to the conclusion that only humans could be easily incorporated into the Cybernetic Union and that the other races and alien species had to be terminated in order to bring a universal law to the Galaxy. The law was to be the will of the Patron Joseph Stormberg. "The Will of the Patron is Law!” This message had been sent to billions of Cyborg drones across the sector from Fatherland the Command World of the Union and location of the Patron to the many Incorporated worlds.

The directives from the Patron had to be obeyed and the Patron’s will was to expand the Union across the Galaxy. The humans were to be incorporated along with their worlds to produce a unified and ordered galaxy under the divine guidance of the Patron. The inferior alien races were to be terminated and their worlds purged of all life to prevent them from contaminating the humans with their unusable genetics.

These orders had been going on for quite some time and now the Tau of Fy'ria would learn of the cyborgs existence and dread the knowledge of such cold and emotionless machine creatures.

The Tau had indeed picked up something on their sensors, The recon force was as much of a combat force as a scouting force. It was meant to be the first contact group and as such the taskforce had seven Cybernetic frigates (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/Xharnia/CyborgFrigate.gif), three Cybernetic light cruisers (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/Xharnia/CyborgLightCruiser.gif)two Cybernetic destroyers (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/Xharnia/CyborgDestroyer.gif)and one heavy Cybernetic cruiser (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/Xharnia/CyborgHeavyCruiser.gif). This force contained roughly 1,000,000 cyborg drones (This includes troops, crew, etc) and was armed to the teeth with enough weaponry to devastate Fy'ria from the surface provided the defenses were broken in the fighting.

The recon taskforce proceeded towards the planet in a roughly phalanx like wedge formation the frigates forming the front and the light cruisers forming side defenses. The destroyers acted as the rear guard and the heavy cruiser was in the middle. The weapons systems ranging from the fearsome plasma cannons to the Kinetic warheads were activated and the shields are armor were at full strength. This force was in no way friendly because the first thing they did was to scan the approaching vessel to get life readings.

The goal was to find out if they were human or alien, The results of the scan would choose the fate of these poor doomed souls. The cyborgs were coming and they had brought a lot of friends and guns with them to Fy'ria…..

Kor'ui Shas'ta Ta'u looked at the readings. Yes, there was no doubt. Ships approaching. Non-Tau ships, at that. Peculiar.

It took only a few seconds to determine that they were neither Kroot nor Demiurg, and most certainly not Nicassar. Thirteen enemy ships had entered the system, although most were smaller than the Il'Fannor ships.

"Kor'O Ki'ja, ships are approaching the fleet. It is advised that we prepare to fight."

Ki'ja looked down the sensor readings, worried. "Prepare to fire. We will give one warning. I will not compromise security in order to possibly gain peace. Por'el Ma'kar, you are to compose a single message to them. If they do not respond, or stop, the Kah'tan'sha will be dispatched to Elys'air in order to requisition reinforcements. We can afford to lose a single ship in order to ensure a warning is delivered."

Ma'kar sent a message quickly, even as the enemy ships swept in towards them.

This is the Ji'van'hi, starship of the Tau Empire. You are trespassing in Tau space. Kindly power down your weaponry and open yourself to diplomatic discourse, or we will be forced to power your weapons down for you.

Ki'ja sent a single message to the Demiurg. "Be advised that enemy ships may be in-system. We are not sure of their intentions, but we believe that they are not friendly. We would like to requisition your help, for the Greater Good."

No response. Strange. And, after a moment, the Demiurg vessel turned, cruising away from the Tau, and the new ships in-system. Damn! Stronghold vessels were rare enough as it was, but this Demiurg clan apparently did not wish to risk their destruction. Not that they could blame them. They had been asked to deliver goods, not to fight for the Tau Empire. And the industrial output of the starfaring Demiurg was nothing as compared to the Tau themselves. The loss of such a vessel would put their species back a significant amount.

"Demiurg vessel, if you frequent any other colonies or major worlds along your path, ensure that you deliver warnings about possible hostilities."

"Acceptable."

The single-word reply came back, as the Stronghold-class accelerated away, taking a valuable cargo of weapons and armour with them.

"It seems that we will have five Il'Fannor ships, and six Orca-class escorts. At present, we outnumber the enemy, although their ships have a strong possibility of outgunning our own, especially their largest apparent flagship. It is suggested that we reorganise into fire zones, allowing us maximum firepower to bring to bear against the approaching fleet."

The ships began moving into position, Orca-class escorts preparing to meet enemy frigates, Il'Fannor-class cruisers sitting further back, fire zones only just overlapping, a formation that would allow them to push back any enemy attack, provided that the enemy came to them.

For now, though, Ki'ja waited. Either the newcomers were enemies, or they were hapless lost wanderers, who could very well be incorporated into the Greater Good. An active scan was permissable - they perhaps had enemies, and were checking for them. Still, coming in at such a speed, and with such firepower.. his own fleet was unprepared for a firefight, and many systems on three of his Il'Fannor cruisers were offline. Although he had no doubt he could overwhelm the enemy, provided he was given time to prepare, they had not been expecting combat so soon, and had powered down ion cannons and deflectors in order to improve engine efficiency - it would take some time before they were fully prepared.

He cursed. If he could engage the newcomers, even for a few minutes, he would be able to beat them. But as it was.. things didn't look especially good.

The Kah'tan'sha dived into the Immaterium, one of his most prepared warships - but also the one capable of the quickest warp travel, reaching a full half of Imperial Standard speeds, taking her escorts with her. Regardless of whether they lost or won here, reinforcement fleets would be heading towards Fy'ria within less than a day, so.. he only hoped that he won. Should the aliens be allowed to take up orbit around Fy'ria, the colony could be wiped out..

OOC: The Tau move in, shooting their railguns. One of the shells flies away, bumping an asteroid.

OOC: Note, and a bump. Firstly and foremostly, it's a bump! Secondly, I'll be away for a fortnight. Maybe less. But that's the roof of my internet-lackingness.
