Akimonad announces expansion of whaling program

The Division of Natural Resources, Whale Population Control Department issued a press release today its intention to increase the whaling program it operates in the waters around Akimonad and its colonies. The release states that whale population "has grown and spread out of control, with many whales becoming belligerent in such ways as to attack or threaten humans and ships." The release also noted the propagation of whales along major shipping lanes, which is deemed a danger to cargo ships.

The department has stated that it is sending out several more ships to help regulate the population of the whales.

The head of the department was quoted as saying, "We anticipate very little resistance to our expanded operation. If anything, it will likely be a Rainbow Warrior or some nonsense."

It is estimated that $2 billion is made on sales of whalemeat and other whale products harvested in Akimonad.

Whilst we may disagree with the logic behind the expansion of the whaling program, we nonetheless respect Akimonad's actions to do so - if whales are indeed a threat to your shipping, then by all means do what is required to control the threat.

We trust Akimonad whalers will be sensible enough not to fish the whale to extinction.

News has reached us of a plan to increase your whaling facilities.

As such, we are planning to investigate a new fuel for our power stations - Whale Blubber.

We thus request a two-tonne sample of this product in it's raw form, to be processed and analyzed at our various Combustion Test Facilities and Fuel Characterisation Laboratories

The Prestonian Navy found that by setting their sonar arrays to ping at high frequency, they could move most whales out of their way. If your ships have sonar, it should work equally well.

Concerning Whales,

We would like to sell you a guaranteed whale remover, a large population of giant man-eating sharks. These sharks will then be removed with the implemention of enormous boulders, the sharks natural predator. The boulders however can cause some problems to ships, so we will release a population to eat the boulders. We hope you accept.

Official Diplomatic Communiqué

I as Grand Arbiter of this nation prefer diplomacy to war on any given day. I beg of the Akimondians to please consider their whaling program. This undoes centuries of progress in efforts to stop whaling. These efforts occurred for a reason: whaling is terrible for the environment. Why, pray tell, can you not simply vary your shipping lanes by a few kilometers. The environmental impact of what you are proposing would be profound. You are underestimating what havoc your proposed program would wreak. The land and the oceans form a symbiosis; one can neither exist without the other. It is nature’s perfection in essence.

We would like to propose a coordinated solution to this problem, without the killing of whales.

In closing, I must say that it cannot be overlooked that this is a slippery slope of killing marine life, namely dolphins, which are as you know, equal to our citizens.

Peace, I beg it of you,

[Yes yes. Akimonad or colonial waters but I was bored and wanted to do something. >_>]

Good day Sir(s)/Madame(‘s)!

We trust that the Whale Population Control Department and/or commercial whaling companies will remember to keep their operations confined strictly to the waters of Akimonad. Any attempt by said commercial or foreign non-Havenic government forces to curtail or harvest cetaceans within Izistani waters or within Havenic waters will result in the Coast Guard and/or Navy arresting those responsible, seizure of the vessel(s), and possible military tribunal followed by execution or imprisonment as dictated by the Economic Piracy Act of 1993.

Failure to comply with the demands of the Most Serene Imperium would result in military and/or economic action. Compliance is urged to minimize causalities and/or economic damage.

Respectfully yours,
The Rt Hon. Daniel Fleming, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Acting on behalf of Imperator Zedlacher I, High Protector of Central Haven and Scourge of the non-Havenic.

Whaling has become a occupation of the past in greston after news about disease and bodies rotting away in our waters. But the news of your whalers program being expanded has brightened our whalers days. We will join this program and as our whalers kill the fat sea cloggers of your nation, they will imagine that it is a government figure of yours that they are killing, which will bring in even more whales then if they all tried as hard as Captian Ahab. For every whale our whalers bring in you give us $10,000 USDs. Agree?

Saarmas Corporation and Sinivee Fishing Industries had been competitors for decades. When Olmedreca started regulating fishing in its territorial waters, main reason was that military believed that it could be useful to have large fishing reserve near coast for being used in case of foreign blocade, both corporations fastly expanded to international waters and soonly became world level players in fishing industry.

Then they heard that Akimonad was dealing with whale problem, unprecedent alliance between two old enemys was created, reason was simple, cooperating with each other they could hope to get majority of profit before any foreign competitors would even realize what is going on. So both corporations decided to act agressively and moved gargantuan fishing fleets into Akimonad to get majority of whales, and that means majority of profit, before any foreign competitors or treehuggers get into area. Also solving whale problem fastly would rise their reputation in world stage, that meant among potential customers of course, neither corporation cared about opinions of Greenpeace and other treehuggers.

They knew well, that staying out of waters of states that do not want them was extremely importnant. Fishing fleets had their escorts, those were needed to beat back any pirates or aggressive treehuggers who they could meet then sailing in different oceans, but those were no mach to modern navies. And armed conflict would be bad for profits anyway, but profit was only thing that interested Olmedrecan fishermen. Whaling in Akimonad promised huge profits.

No resistance to increased whaling

Kent, Akimonad (P9M) - The new expansion of the whaling program has met no physical resistance, says a new report released by the DWPC.

"Resistance has come in the form of angry communiques and empty threats." the report asserts.

At a press conference, the director of the DWPC announced that the department is increasing the program further.

"We want these slimy little buggers gone." he said. "And we're looking for assistance."

When asked about the rumors of Akimonad joining a secret whaling commission, the director told reporters that they were not confirming any such rumor.

Meanwhile, the DWPC's new plan is to again increase whaling. "These whales number more than we thought." the director said. "We're looking to purchase more vessels."

The director also noted that this announcement may spur more resistance. He said that navy is "fully prepared to cooperate and escort the whaling vessels."

Release by the International Whaling Advocacy Organization

Our study shows that Akimonad's declaration is completely justified for a good reason.

The whales that bother the Akimonad shipping are Pilot Whales, the most common large marine mammal today.

Our study reveals they are congregating in a large superpod about 500,000 strong, an astounding number for our researchers and it is surprising how aggressive these animals really were. One attempted to sink an inflatable boat we had sent out to monitor one of our lures to estimate the number, while another viciously bumped a few of our divers, seemingly in an attempt to drown them.

Whether this is just a local adaption or a sign of a larger trend is unknown.

Our focus is that a well regulated cull of about 25,000 a year would maintain the population at its current level, and a cull of about 60,000 a year would bring the population down to 250,000 in 5 years.

Of course this is not advice for a mass genocide, this is simply advice for the responsible practice of sustainable whaling, for gourmet eating and for preserving the environment.

We have noticed the appearance of environmental groups that may be intent on harming fishing boats. We know that your navy nor coast guard should be bothered by such events and offer our services to both private fishing companies and your government.

We operate a series of Diligent class Cutters that can easily fend off environmentalists with non-lethal and even lethal weaponry should you require it.

Of course we will ask Akimonad's authorities whether it is legal to kill such disrupters in your territorial waters.

Our price is currently .5 million per cutter per month we operate, and we can sign a long term contract that will reduce costs.

[END]

OOC: Akimonad, is it legal to shoot these environmentalists in your waters if they attack whaling vessels? And if not, can we use things like boarding them and beating them with tasers and batons, or sonic cannons, or laser light shows to scare them off?

Hell, we'll even ram them to protect your boats. This goes for the private fishing companies too.

Somewhere near Akimonad

Olmedrecan fishing industries were making huge profits which were even bigger then expected earlier. But there were still many whales to catch, for whalers it was money that was waiting to be collected. Then suddenly Blue Peace got on the way of one of the Saarmas Corporation fishing fleets:

“Captain, some treehuggers are blocking our way to some nice fat whales!”

“Really? Fucking retards! No dolphinshagger will stop me from earning my salary. Continue on course, either they get out from our way or we will go through their little sucky ships!”

Fishing fleet moved towards blocking catamarans with clear intent to go through no matter if there is something on its way or not. Many Olmedrecan fishing ships operated oftenly in far-north areas, so they had strong bows to go through ice, but they would also cut through wood if neccessary.

At a lab somewhere...

"Blimey! I got it!," a man in a lab coat exclaimed all of a sudden.

"You have?" the only other man present in the room asked, feeling a bit uncertain about his partner's statement. "Not like the homing pigeons or exploding sheep, but really a good idea?"

"Well, no need for you to remind me your failed ventures, dear partner," he replied rubbing his back, "This a 100% solid idea!"

"Are you sure? Last time we went with a 100% sure idea we had to collect the remains of our clients. You know, no PAYMENT!" he roared at the excited individual.

"Well, we still have lamb chops left..."

"Sure, like that's going to fill my pockets. Let me hear your brilliant idea, 'genius'."

"We'll sell weapons to the whales!" the mad scientist, although the term is probably an insult to mad scientist everywhere, informed his associate.

"... I'm out of here."

"No, no, wait! Whales are intelligent, and unlike our previous customers they can actually pay us!"

"They can?" came a question, the tone on which it was addressed making the doubt clear.

"Yes, hidden treasure and all that! We hit the jackpot. Torpedoes, ramming platforms, we'll make a fortune!"

"...right."

Needless to say a few days later the man got what he wanted and they had already started searching for 'clients.

We operate Combat Boat 90 Fast Attack Craft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Boat_90) at only .2 million per month.
We operate Reliance class Cutters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USCG_Medium_Endurance_Cutter#Reliance_class_cutters) at only .5 million per month.
We operate Bora class Guided Missile Hovercraft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bora_class_guided_missile_hovercraft) at only 1 million per month.

These boats will follow your fishing boats into the fishing areas. They can also protect entire fleets of fishing boats. And long term contracts are available at steep discounts.

It did not take long for the whaling vessels and assorted cargo ships (many of whom were very ticked off) to radio to the ADF Coast Guard about the pitiful blockade. The Coast Guard dispatched a fleet of about twenty ships, which did not take long to reach the blockade.

Some of the armed whalers had moved in with the fleet, in case they needed support.

On the deck of the Helicopter Assault Ship, a Seahawk took off and flew towards the group of catamarans.

The pilot got on the megaphone that was tacked to the helicopter and began reading the message he had been handed.

"Unidentified ships, you are trespassing in Akimonadite territorial waters. You are ordered to weigh anchor and make for an Akimonadite port immediately. Failure to comply will result in destruction."

To show that the fleet was serious, one of the destroyers fired a shell into the sea near one of the catamarans.

These citizens are there by their own free will, we cannot simply say "come back home now." and they come back like obedient dogs. We apologize, but an unregulated whaling program is a slippery slope for extinction. Our citizens are demonstrating this in your waters.

Well, perhaps you ought to explain to them that we consider this a violation of the Utopian Commonwealth-Akimonad nonaggression pact and that their action may lead to war. Tell them to pick: War or a few dead whales.

OOC: I'm not sure if this is at me, but I'll answer anyways. My pirates would destroy any defences you have, board, and hold everyone captive. People would then be held for ransom, and if the money isn't sent, they'd be dropped off in some rowboat near a random nation, or if they've been trouble they'd be dumped on an uninhabited island. Oh yeah, and your ships would be assimiliated into Piratepimple's fleets.

OOC: Admittedly, as long as you don't kill them, I can't really take a lot of action against you, so I'll rp them as if they were captured, and since they don't have any weapons save a few machetes, a bunch of guys with guns and RPG's would be pretty damn scary don't you think? Oh, and yea, that was toward you, sorry for not making that clear.

On board a about a dozen of the Blue Peace vessels the occupants could only watch in horror as heavily armed pirates headed for their vessels. Completely defenseless, the ships had little choice but to surrender, and so, a white flag was put up in place of the duo that had flown before. They waited, and figured that the best idea was to comply with the pirates unless they threatened to kill them all, or something else crazy. One ship drew up anchor and set sail, trying to out run the pirates.

OOC: there are 103 Blue Peace ships in Akimonad Waters, also, these are triple cats with 20 hp ethanol fueled outboard motors, pretty fast if I do say so myself, but I don't know what your pirates are using so I don't know if they could really get away.

The NBBC wishes to get the CFEI responce on increasing Akimonad, CFEI tensions and the CFEI's position on the group Blue Peace

Delpin Hyit, the now (in) famous foreign ambassador in the Far Echo Islands, wrote this response:

I believe that this situation is quite ridiculous, all this over an unregulated whaling program, really, this is not a cause worthy of war on either nation’s part. I definitely believe that Akimonad is making a big mistake in its disregard for the environment, but to kill people just for pointing that out, if they do it a little bluntly, is just stupid. Both countries are in violation of each others laws, and so tensions are obviously high.

As far a Blue Peace is concerned, I donate a thousand Ice Diamonds to it every year, I think it is a great organization, I don’t know if I’d be over there with them right now, but I have gone on a few voyages, it’s the greatest feeling you’ll ever get, a natural high, the rush of doing the right thing, but not using the normally accept methods, its awesome. I don’t know what to say about the blocking of shipping lanes, it makes you easy targets for bigger ships, but still, it is for the right reason.

Please note: Ambassador Hyit’s views reflect the general feeling of the Far Echo Islands government, however, they do carry some bias of M. Hyit himself and his views.

The pirates patrolled the lines of captives, sickening smiles creeping up their faces. Occasionally a violent lunge or a blow to the gut would hit a captive, but no true physical damage befell them. The ships started to pull out, an official sounding letter sent to the Akimonadians that they're powerful naval might had convinced them to leave. A few hours later, when Blue Peace realized something was wrong, another message was sent to them.

After several days of search Armed Oceans Inc finally found its first customers. Grated it took a while to catch the willing specimens of maritime life and tranquillize them long enough to attach the custom weapons on them, but they finally had their first customers.

Once the instruction was finished, and some will argue that the whales understood it better than the humans doing the explaining, the 'clients' were released into the ocean, heading towards Akimonad waters.

"Won't be long now," the 'genius' of the team started.

"...right," the ever sceptic partner replied.

"And get this! We have a whole new market. Dolphins!"

"Sure." 'Please make it end!'

"Just imagine equipping them with sonic amplifiers. It will be a blast!" and so it went as they caught more 'clients'.

Unfortunately, whales have large sonar readings. It was easy enough for the P-8 Poseidons escorting the whalers to drop depth charges and countermeasures on the whales.

OOC: Slight issue with that. Doesn't it go against the whole purpose of the whaling program to scare away the whales before you can catch them? Even though this point isn't all that important, the next is. Why would you attack them like that?

Sonar would be able to identify the outline of the whale and the weaponry on it.

And it's not about harvesting whales so much as it is eliminating them.

Two sailors, Jaak Mägi and Ott Haab, were speaking near harpoon launcer at Sinivee Fishing Industries whaling ship Pakri.

"Another one, just 200 meters to east, this one looks really fat." said Jaak.

"Stupid animal, it does not even run" answered Ott.

"Gotcha! Heh, its like shooting fish in barrel."

"Wait a second, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!?!?"

"HOLY SHIT! I have been whaling for 30 years and I have never seen something like that."

"It looks like some fucking torpedo launcher, some fucking treehuggers are putting some fucking explosives on those damn whales! It could had killed us!"

"Oh my, what a cruelty towards animals, now does this thing rise or lower price of that whale?"

As men were speaking captain approached:

"Jaak, Ott, what the fuck are you waiting there, you are not on vacation in Aliquantus, lets get done with this whale and continue."

Jaak said, "Captain, this whale has some extra features" and showed torpedo launcher. "It looks like torpedo launcher"

Captain seemed to not care: "That is not my problem, some retarded treehuggers hoped to arm whales, well their limited brain capacity is their problem."

"What we will do with it" Ott asked?

Captain was even more pissed off then usual: "Are you idiots! Do I look like some fucking arms dealer?! Cut it off, throw it into sea and get back to work!"

Whaling operation continued unabated.

If there was one thing the two idiots did right it was design their products. As such, in the event that their customers got killed a fail-safe was designed, a small hidden mechanism that upon the detachment of the torpedo tube or under other circumstances made the weapon explode or aim at the nearest ship.

Unfortunately for the Olmedreca sailors, it was just this device that they activated.

---

Armed Oceans Inc.

"Mate... I think we forgot something."

"What?"

"How are whales suppose to know how to shoot those weapons? They're you know, dumb animals."

"Oh! That's your problem? Don't worry I had them do some IQ tests! All of their results were higher then ours!"

"Oh..."
[NS::::]Olmedreca

As sailors were cutting off the torpedo tube, there was sudden noise:

"CLICK!"

"Holy shit! This thing is going to blow off!"

"Relax idiot! I checked it before starting cutting, its fucking empty."

"Huh. Really? You absolutely sure about it?"

"Look dumbass, its fucking torpedo launcher attached to whale, of course I checked it. I did not want to end up in sixteen thousand small pieces spread over hundred square meters."

"Umm, but what is the point of torpedo laucher if its empty?"

"How the hell I should know it. Why you do not ask it from geniouses who attached it to whale?"

15 minutes later whaling ship Prangli passed some strange remains in water. It was lots of meat and blood like some big fish would had been blown up.

"Did someone use depth charges here for killing whales?"

"As far as I know not, we should be first here."

"Oh, I see, umm... I guess that then it looks exactly like someone would had torped a whale."

"Yeah, looks so. Probably whaleboy found nice whalegirl, had his hopes high, and then boom, blew his potential mate up. No wonder that this whale did not even run then we catched it, probably it was still totally confused and frustrated."

"You know, I was thinking," one of the two partners said.

"What? How to make more money?"

"No, no, what prevents the whales from killing one another with those weapons. Don't tell me..."

"Oh relax, I learned my lesson from the shrapnel we got in the ass from the cannon cow."

"You... did? Then why did the donkey..."

"Errr... Nevermind that! I just programmed the weapons to target ships and ignore organic targets,"

"Ok..."

“Ah, there is another one with torpedo launcer, cut it off and lets get done with it.”

“Wait! This one has torpedo inside!”

“You think it is dangerous?

“You heard that “CLICK” last time then we removed empty launcher? This thing may be very fucking dangerous.”

“Ummmm… so what we will do? Throw it back to sea?”

“Lets see... maybe there is better solution.”

“Ah, yes, defusing the torpedo. I have seen it in movies. Just cut through green wire and avoid red at all costs.”

“Errr, all wires here are pink. Fucking all of them! I am not some fucking explosive expert to know which one is correct.”

“Damn, I guess we will throw it back to sea?”

“Nono, lets look closer for a moment, ah yes, there is instruction written here. Its always good to read such stuff then you are completely out of ideas and may blow yourself up with wrong action.”

“Instruction? Why? Whale can not read it from there.”

“So, you really think that person who attached fucking torpedo launcher to whale thought about it?"

“Ooookay, what instruction says?”

“I can’t understand a word of this damn language. Its written in some fucking Klingonian. I guess its hopeless, throw it back to sea.”

“Hey not neccessary, I found the solution!”

“Really? You know which wire is correct? Or you can understand instruction?”

“What fucking wire, what fucking instruction, we do not need them. Look here is our solution.”

With saying that, Ott pressed ON/OFF button.

OOC: RETCONNED

11:45 PM, Deserted Island.

The men there were camouflaged, wearing night ops black, ski masks and carrying alarmingly large rifles with battery packs. There was initial confusion when one of the men grabbed a megaphone, flipped it on and said something.

"Now you see us, now you don't, EVER."

The men on the ground raised their rifles, and fired. It wasn't a hail of lead the followed, but a hail of light, dozens of LASER beams shot up, each one scattering in the atmosphere, and aimed at the men leaning out the door, and the other half was aimed at the cockpits to blind the pilots and send the craft slamming into the ocean.

They were holding the General Resources Conglomerate-built ZM-06 Man Portable Laser Dazzler, which could permanently blind people at 3 kilometers with its mix of 4 different wavelengths. 2 visible light wavelengths that would blind by normal overexposure, burning cones and rods to protein-based slag. An infrared frequency was a focused heat beam that would invisibly cause the burning of the eyes. And finally, and probably most devastating was the ultraviolet frequency, which reacted with the eye's own lens to use it against it. Upon contact the ultraviolet LASER would induce florescence, creating a blinding glare from the eye itself.

Meanwhile Toreno, ran to the submarine, and men started pouring out, some of them carrying AK-165 Grendels, others carrying Stinger missiles. If the now blinded pilots didn't slam into the ocean, a few blasts would ensure that.

OOC: RETCON. Dinner time for me, so only one response and can we pause until I get back? :3

IC: The men were camouflaged for night, all carrying heavy rifles with battery packs on them. A few were carrying AK-165 Grendels, a Kalashnikov chambered for the 6.5mm Grendel. A man stepped up carrying a small megaphone and a black aluminum case.

"I have the money", he said, and then opened the case, showing a printed piece of a paper from a bank, the 7,500,000 USD was there. And on the other side of the case, was a small stack of 500 USD bills printed in various countries for international use, from Allanean Mills to Qadesh's.

"That is an extra 500,000 USD for your men."

The first group of hippies were brought over, and the man picked up the megaphone.

"ALL OF YOU DAMN DIRTY HIPPIES ARE TO LOOK AT ME."

And without hesitation, all the men raised their rifles, and fired them on the power saving mode. Invisibly beams of focused ultraviolet radiation reached out at the speed of light, and attacked their eyes. All the hippies watching were instantly blinded. Their own lenses glowing under the UV light. Their cones and rods burned, and a cataract would form rapidly.

Many of them fell over screaming, men who looked like doctors appeared and the megaphone man raised his megaphone again.

"EVERY OPEN YOUR EYES AND TURN TO THE SOUND OF MY VOICE. IF YOU DO NOT, WE WILL SHOOT YOU."

The doctors examined the crying group, many of them in anguish at the realization that they lost their sight forever. They were confirming blindness, a rapid process.

One man resisted, and the doctor took out a Czech pistol and blew his brains out. The screaming was silenced by another threat.

In the meantime, another group of stinking hippies was brought out, this is what the pirates were being paid extra for, to watch as the men there blinded all of those there and shot anyone who resisted.

Who knows, you could be useful in destroying the Confederates when they leave. There's to much potential profit for this to end. If you need my services, you know how to contact me."

With that he rejoined his men, ordering them to burrow under the sands for a surprise attack. He also ordered all but one empty ship to get out of eyesight from the island. This left the Captain and the fake hippies uncovered, the Captain waving about his rifle, and the fake captives shivering, clutching weapons under their rags, pretending to try to stay warm. The Captain glanced at a golden watch he had taken from a prisoner, nervously waiting for the Confederates arrival.

The man who gave the money smiled, and raised his hand and made a gesture. His men had finished blinding these people, and they were all lying on the ground, in agonizing tears. A few of the men out of the submarine were carrying Stingers and were wearing Ghillie suits designed to hide in the brush nearby.

The man said.

"We like the plan, we'll help you."

The men all hid, a few using hostages as shields, they put their lasers on multispectral firing, on the highest energy setting. They also modulated the lasers at random, ensuring that there were as many different wavelengths firing, and at high power. That meant it would be bad battery life, but it wouldn't matter.

The men hid in night camouflage, hiding in bushes and hostages. Waiting for the Echoese to show up.

The submarine left, it would return an hour later and listen to radio transmissions. If it detected none, it would assume the island was lost, and would fire a single FAE cruise missile.

OOC: Please note that the name of my nation wasn't mentioned once in my posts until now. For all you know they could be using home made equipment.

Open Declaration

Translators have determined that several torpedoes that were crudely attached to whales in Akimonadite waters originated in a country known as Damirez. Who in Damirez did it is moot, but we demand an explanation. Now.

Failure to comply will result in destruction.

~Dr. Jules Hodz

The Akimondite message arrived, like all other messages from foreign representatives, at the desks of the foreign ministry. It didn't get to stay there for long though. Some of the text was really offending and as such it was sent to the proper handlers.

A quick conversation between certain key figures and the foreign minister and a reply was composed.

Open Declaration.

Response to the Akimondite accusations.

First of all we would like to greet the government of Akimondite government, as it is customary in opening diplomatic messages with other nations.

Second, we consider your request for explanations as pointless, since Damiran made goods are widely commercialized around the world by various corporations and as such easily accessible.

Thirdly, several of our companies have announced their willingness to sue should your statement containing the words crudely attached and Damirez is not withdrawn.

Fourth, we can assure you that if we were involved in any way or manner there would be no evidence left for you to analyse.

Armed Oceans Inc.

"Working? From what I see our customers aren't returning!

"Have a little fate partner! That was the low quality stuff, you know the ones we got at the black market, the next wave is crammed with Questarian torpedoes and Weccanfelt merchandise. Guaranteed success!"

"I hope so, that's a lot of money we need to cash in with those whales..."

"Oh, don't be such a worry wart! You'll see, they'll come back for more! In the mean time we need to start plotting for the second promotion!"

"Second... promotion?"

"Yes! Look I got these nice teflon..."

And the conversation went on and on with new and improved ways of "making money" being designed.

Akimondite waters.

As the whales got closer and closer to the ships hunting them the sensors on their cargo got activated. The same scene repeated across over and over again and with it, the next logical step, torpedoes locking on targets and heading towards their final goal.

The fishing fleet was going to take a mighty blow this day, all at the hands of Nature, with a bit of help from Armed Oceans Inc.

It was a normal day at the Department of Cetacea Population Control. The office, situated in the middle of the capital, but out side the Government Plaza, was mostly quiet, except for the tapping of keyboards.

And then something went wrong.

A large mass of people, many toting signs or bullhorns of some nature, others sporting colorful costumes of mutilated cetaceans, was moving down the street.

The director of the DCPC was sipping his coffee, when he looked through the blinds of his window and saw the mob.

"Oh, shit." he exclaimed loudly, picking up the phone.

Within minutes a Riot Patrol Company was barricading the front of the building. Army divisions had blocked some of the side streets and alleyways to halt the mob.

After about thirty minutes of the mob lobbing various objects, loudspeakers around the mob boomed with a voice.

"This is Brigadier General Thomas Bradshaw of the ADF Army. You are ordered to disperse immediately!"

The mob did not budge. An RPG shot out towards the DCPC building, exploding some windows and incinerating some desks.

General Bradshaw flinched as the RPG flew overhead.

"That's it." he said, a look of hatred in his eyes. "Fire."

Around the mob, shots rang out, and the mob degenerated slowly as panic took over. People ran in every direction, looking to save themselves. After the first shots, helicopters dropped teargas and IFVs equipped with water cannons dispersed what was left.

Ambulances arrived on scene, as well as several medevac helicopters. A staging area was set up for the dead or wounded.

After the mess was cleaned up, a toll was counted. Fifty-three people had been killed and one hundred and fifty had been wounded.

News of the massacre got out quickly and was broadcast everywhere.
