Rediscovering the forgotten (FT/Open)

Neo Neoma

---
Time: 150 Years ago
Location: Helbred "Neoman Home world"
---

The Neomans were at war, but not against a rival group of Humans or a Xenoc army. They were at war with themselves, in orbit their fleets clashed, on the surface the armies fought head on with the civilians in the middle.

"Come on, Come on! Inside the bunker lets go!" Samuel Wolf shouted at the scurrying civilians as the cluing to their measly possessions. He was a private in the Neoman Military his orders were to guard a massive royal bunker complex that sheltered Johnathan Derit the prince of Neoma when the war begun Johnathan had given orders to the men at the door to let any civilians inside now the road to the bunker was overflowing with refugees more then the bunker could hold. From where he stood he could see the sprawling capitol of New Derit, It was a flame as the sky above was illuminated by explosions. Even the faint wail of air raid sirens weren't drowned out by the battle being fought over the city.

Suddenly a blinding white light erupted form the capitol, then a shock wave rushed over them, sending the crowd of civilians to the ground. Samuel stood up and took off his helmet and let it fall to the ground as he starred a the mushroom cloud rising slowly from the capitol.

"Coord almighty... They f---ing nuked us!," Shouted Derrik Falk, a physical towering man on guard duty with Samuel. Both their Comms. crackled into life as a general broadcast was made. "Everyone inside now, were locking it down lock it down." Even before the message was threw the massive doors began to close. Samuel helped Derrik to his feet and they both went threw the massive door. The Civilians screamed out as the mass rushed the door, only a few making it threw before the doors closed and sealed shut.

---
25 days later
---

Samuel sat on his bed, starring picture of his parents. From the surface reports the rebels had nuked ever major city on the surface, and there were scattered reports of antimatter ordinance used as well on civilian populace. It had been five days after the bunker was sealed that all transmissions were lost. The surface was a radiological mess... and soon nothing but a barren wasteland would be left.

But worse then that it was past the rescue date. If any loyalist fleet had survived they would have been down already to scoop up the prince. They were alone on a dieing planet and nobody was coming, even if anyone knew they were alive was a question.

A soft knock at the door took Samuel out of his thoughts "Enter," He said as he set the picture down on the bed and looked up at the door.

The door opened partly and Derrik stuck his head in "Duty calls, Prince wants all military personnel front and center,"

Samuel nodded and looked down at the floor as he heard the door shut. After five minutes he was out the door.

He walked down the corridor, The civilians lined the hallways. Samuel tried to block out there pitiful faces as he marched past. He came to the door leading to the command room, a group of civilians stood around the door arguing with the guards women in front of the door.

The man leading the mob stuck his finger in her face and shook it at her. "No, there is something going on. We have a right to know!,"

"I'm sorry but i still cant let you in, if anything is deemed need to know you will be informed at a later time, but for now you all nee..." The guards women was cut off as the leader slammed his fist into the wall. "That's not good enough!"

"That's as far as you go!," Shouted Samuel as he calmly walked up to the mob his pistol in his hand. The leader turned and faced him. "Whose going to stop me?" he asked as Samuel walked up to him. Samuel lashed out and smacked the man in the jaw with the butt of his pistol and grabbed him and pushed him against the wall and put his pistol to the mans head. "My gun will, You are inside a military facility and you will act accordingly or I will shoot you. We are all in this together and we really don't need a clash of people without guns verses people with guns inside of here." The man nodded and Samuel let him go "Go back to your families..." He said softly before walking inside.

Inside the command room the 30 or so soldiers standing around waiting, Samuel stood next to Derrik. "Whats going on?" He asked softly "Don't know, but the prince wants to talk to us..." The door opened and 4 men walked into the room. One of them was dressed in the soft purple robes of royalty, He was young probably younger then Samuel's 24 years of life.

He stood in front of them and smiled softly "First of all i wish to thank you all for staying the course and during your duties in this time of dread." He sighed softly and collected his thoughts "We cant send a transmission into orbit, and the surface is deemed uninhabitable... I'm going to order all the sleep chambers to be brought online and operational. We have enough if we pair up all the children. Were going to sleep for a long... long time, Hopefully threw time the environment outside will calm down enough for us to send out a transmission for help."

"Uh, Sir?" One of the men said as he raised his hand.

The prince smiled "Yes?"

The man shifted uncomfortably probably never expected he would ask the prince a question when he joined the service. "What happens if we cant send out a transmission when we wake up?"

The Prince frowned and looked down at he ground before bringing up his head to look at the men again. "If that turns out to be the case then were f---ed..." The prince bowed softly and began to walk out. The colonel in charge saluted and turned to the men "Get to work"

It only took a few days before everyone was sleeping as time past them by.

---
Time: Present day
---

Encased in power armor Samuel and a squad of 4 others walked down the decayed ruins of a town that... to him was a thriving place only a few days before. The environment was in ruin the geiger counters clicked wildly and the scanners were detecting antimatter contamination along with the fall out of the nuclear weapons. He turned behind him and looked at the rest of the squad behind him. Two of them carried a large case that held a transmitter that all their hopes relied upon.

They were the second group sent out into the storm. The first had run into... trouble. It seemed that things had survived... mutated by the radiation and empowered by the harsh climate. Mutants... the most unholy creatures beside the xenocs on Neoman holy soil.

They walked into one of the few buildings that totally survived the fall out. The building seemed lost in time. Besides the decay of time everything was where it was when the owners fled... hell even the door was locked but the boosted strength of the power armor sent the door flying off the hinges with on kick. They made there way to the roof and began to set up the transmitter. It would play and repeat a single message over and over again and even send out a locating beacon pulse. When it was set up all they could do was flip it on and wait.

Broad casted message
---

A young man came into view wearing the purple robes of Neoman Royalty. He looked up into the camera and smiled.

"Greetings, My name is Johnathan Derit. I am or in your case "was" the prince of the Neoman nation. We have been sleeping for a long time, deep inside our ruined home world. I come to you now not as royalty but as the spokes person of my people. We cannot survive on the surface of Helbred and out supplies will run out in time, Please help us."

IRV Unspeakable, R-Class Destroyer, Imperial Rillorian Navy
Lieutenant-Commander Tarkov sat idly, watching the glow of hyperspace travel on the view-screen. He was 38 years old, much older then other men of his rank. This hyperspace travel was completely new to him and he was fascinated by it.
"Ensign, what is our current location?" he asked the helmsman.
The ensign typed away at the helms-screen.
"Sir, we are currently 8 lightyears from our destination, we are looking at about four more....wait a minute.."
"Ensign?"
"Sir, I'm reading a serious power-fluctuation in the core temperature of the hyperspace drive..."
The ship began to shudder and shake violently. Lt. Cmdr. Tarkov clicked down the comms button.
"Engineering, report!" a few seconds passed, then a voice came on the comms.
"Sir, we're losing power at an alarming rate! Theres a serious buildup of residual---"
A huge explosion rocked the ship and sent crewman flying around the bridge. The ship cotinued shuddering and shaking more violently.
"Helm, prepare for re-entry, begin core-eject sequence!"
"Aye sir." replied the helmsman, still trying to figure out what happened.
"All hands, this is the captain. Prepare for re-entry."
"Sir, eject-sequence ready." shouted Ensign Krazney.
"Eject!"

Somewhere in unknown space
The stillness of space tore open as the R-Class Destroyer ripped out of hyperspace. Heavy damage was visible over most of the ship.
"All stations report!" ordered Tarkov.
"Sir, crew reports severe damage to decks 3 through 18. Engines 2, 3, and 4 are offline...engine 5 is...gone." replied Lieutenant Kaminsky, the Bridge-Engineering Officer.
"Helm, what is the closest planet we can put in for repairs?"
"Sir, I have a Gold-class planet on short-range sensors, 4.5 million kilometers."
"Set course helm, begin diagnostics and repairs."
"Aye sir" replied Lt. Kaminsky, already running through repair procedure.

As the IRV Unspeakable approached the planet, the destruction was visible from space. Clearly something had happened here. Debris of starships and other metal floated by in orbit.
"Helm, scan the planet for life." ordered Tarkov.
"Sir, scanners went down when we lost long range and navigational sensors."

Just as the ship powered closer, a face appeared on the comms screen. It was a man, dressed in purple robes. He spoke:

"Greetings, My name is Johnathan Derit. I am or in your case "was" the prince of the Neoman nation. We have been sleeping for a long time, deep inside our ruined home world. I come to you now not as royalty but as the spokes person of my people. We cannot survive on the surface of Helbred and out supplies will run out in time, Please help us."

The message kept repeating, over and over. Lt. Comdr. Tarkov stood and looked at his crew.
"Helm, take up a high orbit and try to find out where we are. Lieutenant Odeon, have the marines prepped."

It was messages like these that stoke the humanitarian spirit of the Coredian Nation. It must be in the genes. We can't just not listen and want to help, even if we're under seige by a thousand Imperial ships. Therefore, a mission by the High Council was sent. A Shinobi-class battlecruiser would go in and investigate the planet, along with a Diplomatic Team to facilitate communications. And because the High Council has already figured out that the surface of the Neoman home world was likely highly dangerous in some form, probably irradiated, a trump card would be sent along with the battlecruiser, but one that will not be used just yet.

Two Hours after First Contact

The battlecruiser Ero-Sannin (really the Jiraiya, but Naruto decided to change its name on the spot) reentered realspace. Upon detecting the Imperial isa fleet, however, the ship slipped into the wash of a passing comet and cloaked before moving onwards.

"Whew. That was a close one." Jiraiya, the old man whom this ship was named after, said in relief. "All systems still operating?"

"Yes, sir." His XO replied. "What are we going to do now?"

"We'll have to do this covertly." He replied. "As soon as we enter orbit, begin scans of the planet. If we can find these people, we can truly begin."

"Aye, Jiraiya-sama." The XO replied.

It took a while for the battlecruiser to reach orbit and begin scanning, mainly due to the debris in orbit. It appeared that a battle has occurred, lending credulence to the theory that the planet was irradiated by nuclear war. It took little time for the cruiser to detect the locator beacon and in fifteen minutes, a meeting was arranged with the diplomatic corps people.

"Ambassador Genkai, as you know by now, our scans have revealed that this entire planet is irradiated beyond repair. It seems to me that it would be expensive to terraform this planet at best. I would say that our *special* equipment may have to come into play. However, before we do that, we will have to make contact. That means NBC suits and droids." Jiraiya pointed out. "It's so bad that I wouldn't trust a radiation shielding jutsu to do its job."

"I see." The ambassador nodded. "Then we will put on the suits and move quickly to secure a friendship with these people. Who will you send to accomodate me?"

"Hm. I'd like to see the people myself. I'm sure Veepio would like to. Maybe Science Officer Jakan." The old master of the ninja arts said.

"VIP-10? Not a bad choice. I will get ready." The ambassador replied.

Ten minutes later, an old Sannin, an ambassador and her two assistants, a droid and a scientist were taking a covert shuttle and heading down to the planet, drawn by the locator beacon like a moth to the flames...

A few moments later, the shuttle landed, and several people with NBC gear (http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20000404/tiberiansun_10.gif) stepped out of the shuttle.

"I hate transporters." Jiraiya grumbled as he realized the Isa people beat him to the punch. I hope I don't have to reveal my abilities so soon.

From nothing came something. Briefly a section of space in the system energized as it resisted the masses being forced upon it. In the blink of an eye it was over. Again space had bent to the will of its offspring. Where moments ago had been space now hung two Razorback cruisers, an Eyrie carrier, and the cruisers escorts two Feral destroyers and six Harpy frigates each. The nineteen ships returned to normal operation just as they had returned to normal flight.

Aboard the carrier Alesia Father Ultan left his quarters at the end of the journey and arrived on the bridge. He walked through the lower deck full of busy people performing the many operations demanded of the large ships brain and nervous system. He climbed to the upper level where the command staff monitored everything and finally approached the captain.

"Captain Brina, it appears we have arrived... somewhere. Is this the location Jurai told us about?" He asked while watching the massive domed screnes showing the events around the taskforce.

Brina looked up at the Ultan and snapped a salute. The Shield of Nav held great respect among the people of Tidan, and although the military was still getting used to them being the boss you could see the conflict inside between personal reverence and professional suspicion.

She quickly glanced at the message they had been given from the Coredians and compared it to their present location. "This appears to be it Father. No sign yet of the Coredians but it is possible they have not arrived yet." She scaned more reports quickly. "We are also picking up a few other contacts in the system so it is also possible they are avoiding these others and so we have not picked them up yet. I doubt we could have beat Jurai here."

Ultan listened to her explanation and considered what he would do. "Alright. First order of business is to locate the source of the transmission. As soon as you do I will take some men down to make contact."

"Sir so far we are having little trouble homing in on the signal but the planets surface is dangerously toxic. I don't think the marine armor could protect the men from that radiation intensity for very long."

"How many TOWER armors do you have?"

"None currently. Normally the transports would carry several squads attached to the marines, but our transports were cleared to make room for refugees or equipment on this mission."

"Then I will go alone." Ultan decided.

"Sir if you are wrong about the protection range of your suit..."

"The gifts of Nav are many Captain. He will protect me as he always have. Have faith."
______________________________________________________

Soon after a single dropship placed him in the city from which the transmitter was broadcasting. The ship immediately took off and headed out of the atmosphere, they only had a limited amount of time that the small ship could protect them inside the atmosphere and they had not intention of hanging around to test the estimates.

Ultan was completely alone, at least as far as he knew. His personal KEEP armor sank a few centimeters into the dry earth. Each Shield Knight was given their own personalized suit, more ornate in appearance than the standard military hardware. For a Patriarch this was even more true, his power armor was designed to make a certain impression and was covered in holy script and images. The air thick with dust buffeted his armor as he secured his sword to his back and reached for his assault rifle. The light on he gun did little to improve visibility so he turned it off and activated thermal, infared, and the other kinds of imaging available on his suit to help him see.

The suit's rad sensor warned of dangerous levels, but he felt no effects as he walked through the ruined city. In truth the radiation was of no danger to him, at the start of his service to the Shield some time ago he had been blessed by Nav. This altered him, giving him many powers, foremost was his fortitude and healing abilities. These had made his body immune to many harmful things, and now allowed him to travel safely through this dangerous place.

Soon he found the exact location of the transmitter on a building high above him. He activated his communication system and tried to get a message through hoping to find those who had placed it there.

<I am Father Ultan of Tidan. To any surviving Neomans, I am responding to your distress call and have arrived at the beacon. I wish to make contact. Please respond.>

He looped it to play over every so often hoping enough of it would get through this mess to the people he was trying to help. Now to wait and listen.

A Ganoxan Destroyer (http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/GeneralZhukov3333/?action=view&current=GanoxanDestroyerMkI.jpg) came out of hyperspace into orbit of the dying planet. It was sent by the Council, the governing body of the Ganoxan Alliance, who received a message from what is left of the Neomans, their former friends from the past. The Destroyer Dasvanyu, which means in an old dialect Streaming Peace, contained a marine detachment with four Arm Slave Mechs.

"Sir we have come out of hyperspace and are at exact coordinates."

"Good alert all personnel to their stations. Set for Condition Blue."

"Aye sir," the Lieutenant said as she turned to the intercom to repeat the message. Blue lights began to blink in the corridors.

"C'mon get up! GET UP NOW Keiichi!"

"What?... just five more minutes mom..."

"What did you just call me?!?"

Keiichi just woke to find an enraged Sargent Major Morrison. His eyes widened. "Sir yes sir. Getting up sir!"

Right when he got out of bed Morrison gave him a good kick to the rear.

Meanwhile in the hangar area teams were getting ready to deploy. Arming ships and ASs for the mission, crosschecking systems, the usual hangar activities.

"Sir all crew are at their stations."

"Very well. Load the Arm Slaves into the shuttles."

"Aye sir. Load Arm Slaves into shuttles. Prepare for deployment."

Keiichi jumped into the cockpit of his Arm Slave. After clearing his ID code with the AI he began check the system. "Urzu 7 ready." he said.

"This is Urzu 6 ready."

"Urzu 3 is locked and loaded."

"Urzu 1 ready."

"Copy that. Urzu team has a go for deployment."

The shuttle dropped out of the hangar and began its decent into planetary orbit.

Twenty minutes later the shuttle was in high atmosphere around 27 thousand feet.

"Prepare for HAHO deployment. In 3...2...1.. NOW!"

The Arm Slaves and cargo crates began dropping out of the shuttle and opened their chutes 10-15 seconds after deployment. Keiichi was first to land immediately grabbing a case with the 40 mm assault rifle. Morrison, who is Urzu 1, grabbed the 57mm shotcannon. Three picked up his sniper cannon and six her 40 mm.

"Everyone functioning alright? Good. According to the Dasvanyu the signal is coming from this direction," he sent the directions to the others computers.

"So lets move out."

Planet Dahan
24-08-2007, 00:40
Bending to the will of humanitarianism, a Dahanese Commonwealth Cruiser finally arrived in the system, to the sound of dozens of alien craft buzzing around the same place at the same time - apparently the universe was not so lacking in compassion as it may sometimes seem. The Cruiser's arrival was significantly understated in comparison to the rest; one minute there was nothing, and then the next minute it was there. Perhaps the Dahanese Commonwealth operated mysterious technologies beyond the understanding of any other nation, or perhaps they just had a lower special effects budget.

While its arrival was understated, the ship itself was anything but. Seemingly it had been designed by artists first and foremost, with an elegant, swept-back design replete with elaborate curls and decorative fins. It wasn't exactly huge, at just over 350 metres long, but it made up for its diminutive size with loud colours - primarily white, violets and blues also adorned much of its hull, with glistening golden highlights in strategic places. Even its glowing engines had been placed so as to accentuate the shape and colour of the craft, completing the artistic design. What few exotic particle beam weapons it had were of a completely different technology base, and were hidden away in sealed compartments to avoid marring the aesthetic qualities of the ship. Which was fortunate, as the weapons were of Kasvagorian design, and Kasvagorians rarely cared much for aesthetics.

The 'captain' of the aptly-named Splendor, though she had no such title, sat calmly in an oversized, flamboyant throne of red velvet cushions with her legs crossed and her arms folded almost as though she were relaxing. Though her long brown hair with pink highlights and her slender physique were distinctive, her most unique quality were the angelic wings that were folded up loosely behind her - which were shared by all of the members of her species which milled around the ship.

The bridge of the ship was a large oval shape, with a viewscreen at the front, an arched door at the back, and softly illuminated violet computer panels all around the sides. One terminal, like the weapons, had been wedged on afterwards and clearly came from another civilisation; as did the enormous brown, spiked Kasvagorian that operated it. It was that Kasvagorian which spoke up first as the ship managed to find a place to slot into orbit.

"Enemy warships!" he roared in a gruff voice, turning his large brown head around to look over one of his broad, spiked shoulders. "Shall I annihilate them ma'am?!"

"Calm yourself friend," said the commander of the ship, Sha'ha, as she uncrossed her legs and rose to her feet. "We are here to give our love, not your wrath! Please try to communicate with these poor souls." She glanced towards the rear of the bridge as she said that, towards an even stranger creature - a short, stubby-armed insectoid alien with tiny translucent wings and a small beak on its face. The creature chittered enthusiastically and began to manipulate the subspace radio.

Greetings, unfortunate souls of Neoma! Blessings from the Dahanese Cruiser Splendor. I am Sha'ha, and we come bearing gifts and a proposition to help your world recover from its terrible plight. For your most urgent needs, we can begin to transport food and water rations down to your habitats immediately. We also carry two mobile industrial matter replicators for deployment wherever they are needed, along with Groulien workers to operate them. And lastly, we have ideas to help you rejuvenate your ailing economy! I hope to hear back from you, and wish there was more to be done to help your people.

The surface of the planet had been eminating so much radiation, it had been impossible for recon droids scouting space to miss the planet. A terrestrial planet of the type generally didn't pour radiation into space for no average reason, and the droid had been ecstatic around it. A recon comm three weeks ago had drawn out two ships-a Defiant attack corvette for defense of the larger ship, a Resonance cruiser with specialized teams to explore the planetside to determine the cause of radiation.

However, things had gone awry when a message had shot up from the surface...potentially from sentients-and not the mutant things-that had hidden, or something. The away team had been pulled out immediately and replaced with droid units-very good droid units, Assassin Droids. They weren't neccessarily always assassins, but the droids did their job very well. They were nearly impossible to be seen, and also were some of the only units in the Dominion to be equipped with a cloaking generator. As gravitational sensors were for the most part to bulky to be used on ground, it was far harder to dig them out. They were equipped with all sorts of nasty devices and weaponry...and now they were doing quite well as spies.

The Assassin droids were keeping watch over Recon Droids-considerably larger droids-that were moving about the planet, honing in on the newer life signs. Recon Droids were not as inconspicuous, but they were still crafty and hard to be seen. Well-equipped with a heavy pulse laser and a sonic weapon, they could destroy or fatally wound organics and droids alike-and were heavy enough to take on even light armor and withstand enough hits to make it out alive. Equipped with a plethora of sensors and equipment, they had found their quarry.

The organics were reporting to the ground droids that other ships had entered space, and after a slight delay, other organics had joined the ground. The Assassin Droids were staying out of sight, cloaking fields off but remaining in the shadows after clearing out hives of mutants. The Recon Droids were scuttling around, but one made a mistake-in avoiding sight by the organics, it scuttled into an abandoned building-its presence frightening and forcing out a pack of mutants inside the building, the former survivors-whether animals or sentients that had been affected by the radiation-scurrying out towards the other organics that were already on the ground. Wary of its mistake, the Recon Droid quickly changed position, than watched the others to see what kind of reaction they would take to the mutant moves.

"no we are the one who got here first ,the ones you want to talk to are up on the roof with the others who land here by shuttle and oh just in case your ship not told you, we have others about to show up too "said the Soldier at the door as the others soliders scaned for what ever montsers that now live in the waste land

"I see." Ultan paused. "I hope you are well shielded, the land itself is predatory here."

"Your accent, it's Tidani, isn't it?" Jiraiya asked as he came up with his charges, recognizing a friendly at last. "Seems you got our message, eh?"

"Ambassador Genkai, at your service." The ambassador bowed.

Ultan turned to the ambassador. He nodded his head to show his respect as he was not comfortable taking off his helmet here even if he was reasonably sure he could not by harmed by the radiation.

"You are correct ambassador. I am Father Ultan, Patriarch of the Shield of Nav and servant of Tidan. It is good to see you, we did not know if you had arrived yet. Tell me, have you managed to make contact with the people here? So far all I've run into are these men." He tilted his head toward the Isan soldiers. "The ones who arrived first apparently."

Unearthly noises errupted from one of the buildings behind them as the Amazonian droid disturbed the mutants. The ran outside heading in the general direction of the group standing outside the building.

Ultan spun and leveled his rifle. "What are they?"

The squad finally found the beacon, hiding behind ruined buildings. "Urzu 3 you got us covered right?""

Urzu three's Arm Slave was on top of one of the higher buildings in prone position. "Copy that sir. As far as I can tell nothing is at the target area. Hold on . Whats this?"

"What is it?"

"Several men just appeared out of nowhere."

"Maybe some sort of beaming technology. Hold back for now."

They waited for thirty minutes. "Alright slowly move in."

"I spotted some soldiers on the roof. Best bet they're the ones that placed the beacon."

"How tall is the building?"

"I would say around 15 m tall give or take."

"Good."

The three walked up some more before Morrison activated the intercom.

"This is Ganoxan Rescue Squad. We have detected your beacon. Please respond. This is Ganoxan Rescue Squad..."

They continued walking until more men beamed down. "Shit!"

They maneuvered for cover not sure if they were friendly or not, better safe than sorry.

"Whats the plan Sargent Major?"

"Stay here while I continue on. Give me covering fire when things get awry."

Morrison's Arm Slave walked down the former street encountering the men. "This is Sargent Major Morrison, responding to the rescue beacon. Where is the beacon?"

"How very rude," Sha'ha remarked as she read back the simplistic message and wondered how in the name of the universe a navigational beacon could possibly send a video message in the first place.

"NOW can I annihilate them?!" roared the Kasvagorian who stood at what were, quite obviously by this point, the tactical controls.

"No!" Sha'ha snapped in an amusing attempt at aggression, which did not pan out so well with her diminutive soft voice.

"Perhaps we should just transport to the originating coordinates of the message," spoke up a blonde-haired mail Dahan, Jeran, who was the closest thing this ship had to an executive officer.

"Well, it could not hurt to pay them a visit," Sha'ha shrugged. "We cannot beam down all of those rations and replicators to the wrong place though - we should check first!"

Jeran nodded to her and smiled warmly. "That would be sensible I think."

"Yes!" Sha'ha nodded. "I shall come too - perhaps just by being there our presence can ease the suffering of these people. K'raktak, bring yourself and one of your men with us please."

The Kasvagorian, apparently named K'raktak, punched his enormous chest in delight, and enthusiastically followed the two Dahans into the turbolift. When standing so close to such a large creature, they seemed very fragile and weak, though Kasvagorians tended to have that effect on most people. Two short Groulien salt hogs also hopped into the turbolift happily, who even made the Dahans look big.

When they materialised on the planet in a hazy violet light there were six of them. Both Dahans were present of course, wearing surprisingly form-fitting environmental suits that even covered their wings, and linking arms with each other as though afraid to be separated, as well the two little Grouliens who had joined them in the turbolift. K'raktak, and another similarly imposing Kasvagorian, stood on either side of the Dahans, carrying stupidly massive rifles that were longer and bulkier than their own legs. Yet another alien was also present, in a much less flattering environmental suit, which was from a species simply known as the 'Greys'. Because they were grey. The Grouliens did not wear environmental suits, as their species was so well adapted to radioactive environments that they didn't need them, and the Kasvagorians wore only battle armour, because they just didn't... care.

"SHOOT THEM!" the second Kasvagorian roared in his own tongue the moment they finished materialising, but Jeran gently placed his fingertips against the Kasvagorian's shoulder and calmed him quickly. They all looked around at the unpleasant environment they had appeared in, and immediately noticed aliens milling around all over the immediate area.

"You had better speak to them," Jeran said to Sha'ha quietly, pointing at the aliens. "Before Vth'nk here shoots them..."

"Erm... hello!" Sha'ha spoke up, hoping to hit upon the right people. It looked as though there were several different groups here. "My name is Sha'ha... from the Dahanese Commonwealth Cruiser Splendor... up there." She pointed up into space as though they would not know what she meant. "We have supplies and equipment to be beamed down where they are needed! Who should I be speaking to?"

The surface of Neoma
The dropship glided to a halt on the pock-marked wastes of what was once Neoma. Captain Hayden and his troops hustled out the back and setup a defensive perimeter.
"Corporal, radio the Unspeakable and let them know we're a-ok and proceeding to beacon-site." he ordered readying his rifle. The radioman spoke into his mic.
"Alright troops, lets move out! Arrowhead formation, keep your eyes peeled."
The squad of soldiers moved through the swirling clouds of dust, vigilant of anything out of the ordinary.

IRV Unspeakable, in orbit above Neoma
Lt. Cmdr. Tarkov walked with purpose through the halls on deck 9. Damage from the accident was still visible as repair teams welded bulkheads and fixed data panels. He was flanked by his XO, Lieutenant Davids. They turned the corner and entered the engine room. A stalky man dressed in coveralls and a work shirt that bore the Chief Warrant Officer 3 insignia on the collar approached the two officer and saluted.
"Sir! Glad you're here." he said relaxing.
"Chief, whats wrong with my baby?" Tarkov asked knowing full-well the answer.
"She'll fly sir, but no more hyperspace. Impulse only."
Lt. Davids' face wrinkled in concern.
"At that rate it'll take at least eight years to get back to Rilloria, sir."
"I know Frank, the only way we can go about this is make contact with the other unknown ships in the area and make a trade of some kind. I'm sure the Chief here could rig something up to make our trip a little shorter." The Commander cracked a smile and turned to the Chief again.
"See what you can do Chief. I'll check back in a few hours."
"Aye sir."
As they exited the engine room, Tarkov turned to his XO.
"Take command on the Bridge Frank. See if you can contact the alien races and get us a little help here."
"I'll see what I can do sir."
With that, he snapped to attention and saluted sharply. Tarkov returned the salute and headed for his quarters.

Sha'ha looked at Jeran nervously, who returned the glance - they seemed genuinely afraid of solitude. "I cannot go alone..." she said timidly.

"Neither can I..." Jeran said. At this moment K'raktak shoved them to one side and pummelled his chest ferociously.

"I shall go!" he roared. He waved his massive assault rifle above his head and fired off a few beams of light into the air as though reaffirming his ability to pull the trigger. Jeran and Sha'ha looked at each other, nervous for another reason this time, and both touched his shoulders calmly.

"With respect, K'raktak, I think a more... even-handed approach is required," Sha'ha said slowly, trying to think of the best way to tell him that they didn't trust him not to simply kill anything that irritated him once he left their supervision. "Jistarn, you should go with these aliens."

The four-foot high Grey, who had until this point remained silent, turned around and looked at them through the visor with his big, shiny black eyes, and simply nodded. "Agreed," he said in a cold, high-pitched voice. His suit was bulkier than the form-fitting suits worn by the Dahans, almost as if it were too big for him, and unlike them a small particle beam pistol was clipped on to one of his skinny legs. Additionally, a scanning device of some type was slotted into a pouch on his belt, which looked to be inactive for the moment.

"We shall beam back up to the Splendor and monitor you from there," Sha'ha reassured him.

"We should send a security scuzzer with him to be sure!" K'raktak roared in protest. "Or ME!"
