The story of the Cynapsian nation begins in 1750, when a large island in the Central Atlantic was discovered by an English expedition team seeking new areas of the world for mining activites. Upon landing, the team discovered a native population of Iberian descent previously undiscovered, an ecosystem lush with forest on the equatorial line, and large amounts of gold, zinc and copper under the surface. The natives, somewhat unwelcoming of the intrusion into their home, quickly became hostile to the Englishmen and forced them to retreat. Not to be outdone in the discovery of this valuable peice of territory, the English returned with a small Army and conquered the native population. The country was later renamed from the native word Modashu (meaning 'Island Land') to Cynapsia, after the head of the expedition, Lord James Cynapsi.
The country spent the next 169 years as a British Colony, with two minor native uprisings spoiling an otherwise uneventful history. In 1919, as a reward for Cynapsian native troops fighting on behalf of the Empire in Europe during the Great War and due to the financial crisis facing the British, Cynapsia was officially given independence. A Republican system of government was set up, electing Jack Donaldson was the first democratically elected President of the Cynapsian Republic.
Democracy was not to last, and five years later a Coup by military and industrial leaders brought about the rule of President-General Daniel Honso, a part-native soldier with a hatred for the English-descendent dominated government. Honso, backed by a group of industrialists, imposed a corporate police state and utilised force to reduce the population to little more than a slave group.
Honso ruled the island by force from 1924 to 1937, when a little-known peice of Second World War history occured. The Nazis, now in power in Germany and looking to expand, negotiated a settlement with the President-General and officially annexed Cynapsia into the Third Reich. The deal was simple - Honso was allowed to maintain control of the country, and the Third Reich gained a staging point in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean to conduct future attacks against the United States. Quick to utilise Nazi policies, the new administration began to systematically wipe out the now-small native population of Cynapsia, believing them to be inferior to the white-dominated society.
These horrific acts continued until 1944, when German forces were forced to pull out of Cynapsia to defend the homeland ahead of the Allied push through Western Europe. The National Democratic Front (NDF), a group that had been a bane of the Nazi occupation and the Cynapsian equivalent of the French Marquis, quickly seized power from the ageing President-General Honso, and established the Second Republic under President Gregory Taylor. The Second Republic led a shaky, violent existence as the NDF splintered into the differing ideologies once held together by the common Nazi foe. The boiling came to a point in 1952, when socialist guerillas and sympathisers within the military staged a coup and deposed President Taylor. The United Socialist States of Cynapsia was born, under President-Kommissariat Ivan Peterson. Quick to establish allies, the USSC aligned itself with the Soviet Union, and entered a period of diplomatic isolation with everyone bar the USSR and the Warsaw Pact nations.
Following the fall of the USSR, there was a crisis in the leadership that led to the downfall of President-Kommissariat Peterson in 2007. He was replaced in a General Election with Maxmillian Coltrane, who reopened diplomatic relations with the world in order to build new Socialist allies, and develop Cynapsia into a world power in the brotherhood of left-wing nations.
Cynapsia continued to develop as a world power until the succession of Igor Manekov to the President-Kommissariacy. Utilising alien technology that was salvaged by the shadowy Kommissariat of Paranormal Activities, Manekov equipped the Cynapsian Red Army with weaponry and armour far in advance of anything else seen on the planet, and succeeded in the development of Antimatter warheads to replace the Cynapsian nuclear arsenal. Once this was completed, Manekov launched the War of Planetary Liberation in 2035, a bloody, global struggle that left billions dead and major cities of the world destroyed through the use of nuclear and antimatter weaponry. The war lasted until 2047, when the remaining nations of the world surrendered to superior Cynapsian Red Army forces. The War of Planetary Liberation had reduced the population of the planet from 6.7 Billion to 314 Million people. Makenov declares the Cynapsian World Soviet Union to officially exist.
Following the war, the CWSU spends nearly a century redeveloping the infrastructure of the world, made possible in its speed by the harnessing of antimatter power sources and advanced food production sources. The CWSU also embarks over this period on a re-education campaign, teaching the coming generations the Cynapsian version of the war and instilling a sense of global patriotism into the CWSU. This succeeds, despite to uprisings during this time, and Cynapsian control of the world is stabilised by 2130. During this time, Makenov dies and is replaced by David Jackson, the Vice-President-Kommissariat and personal friend of the late statesman. In 2130, Jackson declares himself World President-Kommissariat and establishes the CWSU political system; each former country becoming a Soviet Socialist State with a State Government and representatives sent to a World Congress of Deputies. Jackson also appoints a World Cabinet of Kommissariats as ministers for his government.
In 2143, advances in technology begin both the development of the Red Army Space Force and the Battlemech program for the Ground Forces. David Jackson passes away during this year, and is replaced by the first globally elected WPK, Shuji Lin Chan, from the Chinese Soviet Socialist State. Lin Chan continues the militarisation of the Red Army, and spearheads the further development of the Battlemech Program, and the Space Force program. By 2180, the Space Force comprises fighters, cruisers, carriers and transport vessels, whilst the Red Army is fully equipped with advanced laser weaponry, armoured vehicles and Battlemechs. Lin Chan dies a global hero, and is replaced by Leonard David Walsh from the British Soviet Socialist State.

2. The Basic Law of the United Socialist States of Cynapsia
We hold these truths to be self evident, and maintain these fundamental principles above all others in the spirit of continuing the freedom of the worker and the prosperity of the United Socialist States in the eternal fight against capitalist oppression:
Article One – The Right to freedom of expression, verbal and physical, is held sacred by the United Socialist States and is applied to all citizens, and shall only be restricted where deemed to interfere with another citizen’s rights to the same freedom of expression.
Article Two – The Right to food, clean water, shelter, education and healthcare for all citizens of the United Socialist States to be provided by the state.
Article Three – The Right to guaranteed employment for all citizens of the United Socialist States, to be provided by the state, only to be restricted on the basis of incompetence or disability.
Article Four – The Right to dissolve the United Socialist States by ten percent of the population demanding a referendum from the United Socialist States Supreme Court, and the Right to free and fair multi-party elections thereafter.
Article Five – The Right to defence from tyranny, oppression and destruction by outside forces, to be provided by the State.
Article Six – The Right to free, fair elections for Deputies and the President-Kommissariat of the Socialist Vanguard Party.
Article Seven – The Right to freedom from persecution of any kind on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background or political views.
Article Eight – The Right to privacy within the confines of a citizen’s home.
Article Nine – The Right to stand for political office for all citizens of the United Socialist States.

3. Governmental Structure of the USSC
Cynapsian Government follows a modified Marxist-Leninist ideal of the Vanguard party that incorporates many elements of representative and direct democratic ideals. The ruling party since the revolution is the Socialist Vanguard Party. Whilst other political parties are allowed to exist, the Socialist Vanguard Party is the only political group allowed to stand for elections in the United Socialist States. To counterbalance this power and ensure that the vanguard party truly represents the majority of the population, Article Four of the Basic Law states that a referendum can be electronically called upon by a minimum of ten percent of the population to test the legitimacy of the vanguard party’s claim to represent the people. Should this referendum fail, the United Socialist States would be officially dissolved, and multi-party elections would be held shortly thereafter. As of the time of writing, the largest number ever to demand a referendum on the USSC’s legitimacy has been five percent.
The government of the USSC comprises of three main organs – the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary. The Executive is comprised of the Office of the President-Kommissariat of the United Socialist States, the holder of which office is both Head of State and Head of Government. The Executive appoints a Cabinet of Kommissariats responsible for running of each area of government business, which meets every Thursday to analyse and discuss policy directions for the administration. The Executive has the power to sign and veto legislation voted upon by the legislative branch, and also maintains the powers of Commander-in-Chief and therefore holds the ability to declare war and sanction military action. The Executive is elected by democratic vote once every three years.
The Legislative branch of the USSC is comprised of the Congress of Deputies, comprising 204 Deputies elected from across the USSC to represent individual constituencies in each State. Each of the 6 states comprises two constituencies with 17 Deputies representing each constituency. The Legislature proposes, debates and votes upon bills placed in front of the Congress, and meets every day at midday. The Legislature also must approve the appointed cabinet of the President-Kommissariat and has the power to override a Presidential veto with a two-thirds majority. The Congress is elected once every five years.
The Judiciary comprises of five judges elected to the United Socialist States Supreme Court, one from each state and chosen in a democratic election. The Supreme Court is tasked with monitoring the activity of government members and examining legislation to ensure that the laws passed do not interfere with the Basic Law of the United Socialist States. The Judiciary also views all calls for referendum on any law the citizens wish to enact or repeal, subject to ten percent of the population wishing for such a referendum to take place by signing electronically online.

4. Economic Structure of the USSC
The economy of the USSC is regulated and controlled by the state, as per socialist ideals. Employment is guaranteed for all citizens in Article Three of the Basic Law, so the USSC government is constantly creating programs for the development and construction of infrastructure to ensure that is occurs. However, to ensure that the incompetence that could result from this guaranteed employment does not come about, the USSC classifies incompetence as a criminal activity, punishable by up to several years in prison depending on the level of severity in each case.
The economy is managed by the Kommissariat for the State Economy, which plans the economic activity to be undertaken each year. To ensure that the prerequisites of Article Two – food, shelter, clean water and healthcare – are accomplished, the Kommissariat for the State Economy (KSE) plans the construction of houses for each individual and family unit on the basis of the population size and growth statistics to ensure that sufficient housing is available. The KSE also manages the rationing of food to each individual via a Ration Book system, allowing each citizen the right to purchase up to 2,000 calories of food per day for their own consumption, as per the guidelines available for recommended nutrition. From this, the KSE sets targets for the agricultural sector to create the required amount of food for each citizen. Actual manufacture of different food products is left to a subsidiary state-owned company, the State Food Company, who use a form of market research and market forces to discover and therefore create the products desired by the populace from the raw materials grown by the agricultural sector to ensure that shortages and surpluses do not occur. The KSE also provides healthcare and clean, free water to the population through the National Health Service and National Water Service, respectively. The KSE is also responsible for the allocation of resources to the heavy industry sector to allow an industrial base to be created in order to achieve greater self-sufficiency, and also for allocation of materials to the armaments sector, controlled by the National Armaments Company. Any shortfalls each year are imported from foreign countries to ensure that the economic plans each year are met. Consumer goods are produced by independent companies owned by workers, who elect managers and vote upon business plans and the distribution of profits to either themselves or towards investment, creating a free market scenario where the profit-sharing and democratic voting is commonplace.

The military of the United Socialist States currently stands as a minute defensive force due to economic restraints on the level of spending in the armaments sector of government activity. Currently, the Revolutionary Red Army of the United Socialist States of Cynapsia (to give the organisation's full name), colloquially referred to as the Cynapsian Red Army, is tasked with little more than border defence until such a time that the military gains resources and personnel to exercise activities abroad.
The Cynapsian Red Army uses domestically-produced military equipment whenever possible in a bid to develop the domestic military industrial complex. To this end, infantry in the Cynapsian Red Army Ground Forces utilise domestically produced models of the AD-142 "Yastreb" Assault Rifle and the HH1 Pistol, both designs bought from TSSTWSP in 2000s, whilst copies of torpedo and missile systems are used by the Naval and Air Forces respectively. All ammunition for small arms and larger, vehicle-attached battle weapons is produced locally by the National Armaments Company.

However, to ensure that the incompetence that could result from this guaranteed employment does not come about, the USSC classifies incompetence as a criminal activity, punishable by up to several years in prison depending on the level of severity in each case.
The economy is managed by the Kommissariat for the State Economy, which plans the economic activity to be undertaken each year. To ensure that the prerequisites of Article Two – food, shelter, clean water and healthcare – are accomplished, the Kommissariat for the State Economy (KSE) plans the construction of houses for each individual and family unit on the basis of the population size and growth statistics to ensure that sufficient housing is available. The KSE also manages the rationing of food to each individual via a Ration Book system, allowing each citizen the right to purchase up to 2,000 calories of food per day for their own consumption, as per the guidelines available for recommended nutrition. From this, the KSE sets targets for the agricultural sector to create the required amount of food for each citizen. Actual manufacture of different food products is left to a subsidiary state-owned company, the State Food Company, who use a form of market research and market forces to discover and therefore create the products desired by the populace from the raw materials grown by the agricultural sector to ensure that shortages and surpluses do not occur. The KSE also provides healthcare and clean, free water to the population through the National Health Service and National Water Service, respectively. The KSE is also responsible for the allocation of resources to the heavy industry sector to allow an industrial base to be created in order to achieve greater self-sufficiency, and also for allocation of materials to the armaments sector, controlled by the National Armaments Company. Any shortfalls each year are imported from foreign countries to ensure that the economic plans each year are met. Consumer goods are produced by independent companies owned by workers, who elect managers and vote upon business plans and the distribution of profits to either themselves or towards investment, creating a free market scenario where the profit-sharing and democratic voting is commonplace.

The military of the United Socialist States currently stands as a minute defensive force due to economic restraints on the level of spending in the armaments sector of government activity. Currently, the Revolutionary Red Army of the United Socialist States of Cynapsia (to give the organisation's full name), colloquially referred to as the Cynapsian Red Army, is tasked with little more than border defence until such a time that the military gains resources and personnel to exercise activities abroad.
The Cynapsian Red Army uses domestically-produced military equipment whenever possible in a bid to develop the domestic military industrial complex. To this end, infantry in the Cynapsian Red Army Ground Forces utilise domestically produced models of the AD-142 "Yastreb" Assault Rifle and the HH1 Pistol, both designs bought from TSSTWSP in 2000s, whilst copies of torpedo and missile systems are used by the Naval and Air Forces respectively. All ammunition for small arms and larger, vehicle-attached battle weapons is produced locally by the National Armaments Company.
