AP: Today, by nearly a 2-1 margin, the lawmakers in the ASoGM passed a bill that would require at least one member of each household to own, maintain, and train with a firearm. To help ease the financial burden to its citizens, the bill allows for a one time discount to anyone that does not currently own a firearm. Also included in the bill is a discount for the ammunition required for monthly training. Households can opt out of the program (with a good reason), after a certain period of time. The bill does not, however, change the ineligibility of convicted felons and adjudicated mentally incompetent people to own firearms.

When asked whether this will have any effect (positive or negative) on the number of violent crimes in the ASoGM, one of the lawmakers (speaking on the condition of anonymity) said that she seriously doubts it will make things worse, and hopes that it will make it better.
