A Lunge at the Heart

Canvatica International Airport, Terminal C, Gate 5
Captain James Sedgewick sat in his seat at the controls of the A380 he was in command of. The plane was fully loaded with passengers and fuel. Little did they know, thought the captain, that they aren't going to make it to British Londinium like they thought. The captain laughed to himself, then abruptly stopped as a flight attendant opened the door to the flight deck. "Everyone's seated." she said softly. "Thank you." the captain replied.

The attendant left, and was replaced by the copilot, holding a clipboard. "Final checks are complete, everything's working." he said to the captain. "We're gonna be delayed in this heavy fog and traffic, though." The captain looked out the window at the mention of fog. He could hardly see the runway. "The fog's not too bad," the captain replied, "but today's so busy, we'll be lucky to get to our destination before midnight." The copilot looked at the captain. He knew the captain's plan, but also knew that they couldn't discuss it, or the voice recorder would pick it up.

A voice cackled on the radio. "This is Canvatica Tower to P9 Flight 465 to Kingston. Are you prepared for departure?" The captain and copilot sat down in their chairs. "Affirmative, tower. Final checks complete, we'll be undocking from the gate momentarily." the captain replied.
"Very well, you have pushback clearance. Once you're clear, radio for taxi clearance."

"Roger, pushback clearance." The small tractor on the ground below began its task of pushing the plane away from the terminal. As the plane was pushed onto the taxiway, the captain ignited the engines and radioed back for taxi clearance.

The tower radioed to the plane. "P9 Flight 465, you are cleared to taxi to the parking apron and wait. You are nineteenth for takeoff. We're backed up today." The captain scowled. "Roger that." he said weakly. The plane moved forward onto the apron and parked next to numerous other planes. The captain pulled out his mic for the intercom and began addressing the passengers. "This is your captain speaking. We're parking here to await takeoff. The tower says we're nineteenth, so we have a sizeable delay ahead of us. We apologize for the inconvenience." The captain heard the audible groaning of the passengers through the door of the flight deck. "Yeah, I hear ya." he said to himself, slouching in his seat.

The captain sat and watched the clock tick by the minutes. Fifteen, then thirty, then an hour, then two hours. He sat up abruptly once the delay had reached two and a half hours. He looked over at his copilot, who was napping, and shook him copilot awake. "Hey. Hey! Wake up!" he whispered. "We have to do it now. There's a lot of other planes around." The copilot, now awake, looked out the window. "It's still foggy, and we can't go without clearance." he pleaded. "Clearance? Who gives a damn? It's not like we have clearance to-!" the Captain stopped abruptly, remembering the recorder. "Look, we have do it now." he said, starting the engines.

The great plane lurched forward down the taxiway and onto the runway, which was empty for the moment. A plane had taken off and the next plane in line had not gotten to the taxiway yet. As the captain maneuvered the plane onto the runway, a shrill voice issued from the radio. "Flight 465, you were not cleared for taxi or takeoff. Return to the apronimmediately." The captain ignored the radio and ran the engines up to full, releasing the brakes. The plane shot forward.

Once the plane was halfway down the runway, the captain radioed back. "Today we sacrifice ourselves for Holy Terra, may She live forever! Death to the Corporatists who abuse her! We attack your airport-the overbearing symbol of Corporatists! We will destroy all!"

Canvatica International Airport, Control Tower Alpha
The tower was in a sort of panic. This sort of thing was not a usual occurrence. "Flight 465, you are ordered to land immediately. Do you understand?" The controller shrieked futilely into the microphone another three times, while the plane sailed into the sky. The lead controller walked over to the radar. "What the hell's going on?" he asked. "P9 Flight 465 took off without clearance, shouting something about sacrificing themselves for terra or some nonsense." the controller replied.

"Where are they now?"

"Not too far. They're turning, like they received the message." The controller said, somewhat relieved. The great plane turned and roared back towards the airport. The controller checked the plane again. "They're awfully low, though. I have a bad feeling about this." The great behemoth aligned itself along the parking apron, where ten planes sat waiting. "Oh, no." said the controller, as the plane shot past the tower and barreled down on top of the parked planes, igniting a tremendous fireball. The force of the A380 shoved the fuselages of the first planes into the others, setting up a chain reaction that destroyed all of the planes and annihilating the passengers inside them within seconds.

The airport's fire brigade arrived shortly thereafter and began to extinguish the flaming wreckage of eleven flights.

Open Declaration from the Autocratic Federated Empire

Today the Autocratic Federated Empire was attacked on its own soil by a group of Terranists made up of Akimonadite citizens.

As of now, this specific group is being considered a terrorist insurgent militia and we are in the process of detaining these terranists who destroyed eleven flights at one of our largest airports.

We suspect there may be more of these groups of terranists within our borders, and the Department of Counterterrorism is investigating rumours of their presence. We have not yet decided what to do with them if more are found.

We believe this attack was carried out by the Captain of Flight 465, based on a transmission made via radio to the control tower during the incident, which singles out Terranists. We also believe that another accomplice may have been on the plane at the time.

The final body count has not been calculated for the attack, but we estimate that there is roughly ∀$ 1.3 billion in damage, especially in regard to the planes that were lost.

As a final note, the terranist ideology is now officially discouraged, though not outlawed. We believe our people will make pariahs of any terranists for us.

Official Communique
To: The Utopian Commonwealth and related Terranist nations

While we believe this attack was planned independently of any outside influence, prudence demands that we ask if any of the Utopian Commonwealth or nations with Terranist leanings assisted in the planning or carrying out of this attack.

~Office of the Undersecretary

OOC: So, for those of you that may be confused, this is a terrorist attack by domestic terranists. The terranists are operating independently, but my government doesn't know that. This is just more of a disaster RP that also relates to current conflicts.

That is good to know. If you'd like, we are willing to deport our Terranists to your country.

Canvatica International Airport

Rescue and cleanup operations were underway. About three hundred workers were picking through the debris. It was firefighter John McKay's first day onsite, and it would also be his last. As he picked through the debris, he happened upon a package. It was completely unscathed, despite the ordeal it must have gone through. Or did it go through the ordeal? McKay shook the package. That was a bad idea, as the explosive inside detonated, instantly destroying many of the rescue workers. Panic had revisted the airport, all too soon...

Open Declaration

Once again we have been attacked by terrorists. Yet they have now committed a most heinous act by destroying some fifty rescue workers, there to aid the victims of the first attack.

A note received by the airport shortly after the attack indicates that this is again the work of Terranists. The note names the group as the Militant Terranist Army, and says that it is connected to underground terranist groups in other countries. We believe this attack was perpetrated by a Terranist inside one of the fire brigades conducting operations.

All terranists, or people suspected of terranistic activities, are being detained as a safety precaution, and we urge all governments of the world to do the same.

While we do not condemn the terranist ideology, we condemn the wing of it that seeks to attack nations in the most cowardly way of terrorism.

The Utopian Commonwealth Condems the Autocratic Federated Empire for its treatment of innocent Terrans. We will not accept the deportation of Terrans to determent camps or third party nations.

Terrans within the AFE of Akimonad must be recognized by their beliefs and not by the actions of a terrorist minority.

The treatment of all Terrans in this manner will not be tolerated.
