The 3 Hataks that had attacked the ship now were in orbit over Celestis brining news of it to Kash.

2 Horus Guards approached Kash.

HG: My lord, we have encounterd a enemy, we eliminated it on sight, we thought it was the best thing to do my lord.

Kash's eyes glowed: Any survivors?

Plasma hit the side of the UCS Revenge. One of the shots penetrated to the core, causing a nuclear explosion, incinerating the ship. the remaining ships, led by the UCS Voyager launched their variable fighters and gundams. As the vehicles engaged the gliders, the main ships concentrated on the warships, barraging them with railgun, torpedo and missile fire

Space was considered endless, which was incomprehensible to human minds because everything had a start and an end (albeit for pie, which was now in the billions of digits). However, humanity still tried to find the 'end' of space, and so the intergalactic Theoroshian Federation was dead intent on sending out survey expeditions. Not so much as to finding the end of space, of course, but to find planets with untapped resources.

Survey Flotilla 14, commanded by Rear Admiral Victor Krane, prepared to enter transit. A probe had been sent adventuring throughout space, and had returned a month ago with information on three planets that could potentially have resources.

The flotilla had just checked this system, and it was a dud. The planet was nothing more than dirt and sand, and readings showed that nothing was underneath the surface worth mining.

Rear Admiral Koslov turned to his Navigation officer. "Prepare to transit." The Ensign responded with a "Yes, sir" and the flotilla began transit...

...right into the middle of a battle. Plasma and shattered ships mixed together to form flaming hulks, while the remaining survivors fought against the other force.

"Sir, transit detected at coordinates XXX-XXX-XXX! Based on their drive signatures, they appear to be Coalition vessels!"

The Rear Admiral's head poked up at that last remark. The Coalition? Here? He had heard about them, and the Theoroshian government had blacklisted them because there policies differed greatly from the Theoroshians.

"What about the other forces, Ensign?"

"Sir, they appear to be of the Calaverian design. Sir, what are your orders?"

The Rear Admiral knew what he must do. The Theoroshians had blacklisted the Coalition, and here they were fighting right before his eyes.

"Prepare to send off a message to the Calaverians. Inform them that we intent to help them. Additionally, send our battle group on an intercept course with the Coalition ships. Tell the carriers to stay back and send out their fighters. The Coalition will soon know what Theoroshia can do!"

Fifteen battle cruisers, twelve super dreadnoughts, two monitors, and nine gunboats charged towards the enemy, firing off antimatter missiles and nuclear torpedoes. Additionally, six assault carriers unleashed 120 fighters armed with SBM's. The fighters streaked ahead of the larger vessels, firing off the deadly missiles. They then closed in to dogfighting range and fired on the enemy ships.

It was a pity that the Coalition was attacking so fiercely. If they would but surrender, then the Theoroshian units wouldn't have to call in reinforcements. As it was, most of the flotilla was intact, and what remained continued to fire at the Coalition ships.

However, the new ships began to transit in, and they began to fire their plasma and 200mm cannons at the enemy ships, as well as their MAC cannons.

OOC: Okay, you guys SERIOUSLY need to tone it down. There is a little concept called TIME and DISTANCE you need to understand. It takes time for a ship to across a certain distance, right? Now, I doubt you have this many ships nearby that can come within SECONDS. Yes guys, seconds have passed not minutes and you have summoned epic fleets to this battle. It takes time for ships to come from your empire, time for the message to reach them, for them to gather, to jump and to arrive. They will not arrive instantly. And also, you guys have pulled off and lost a lot of ships. Mind telling me how your nations defenses are doing? Cause, I'd say they are pretty weak right now.

You guys are rather small nations, and unless you either claim a wanky amount of production ability, or have more ships than your pop can handle for average ships, making them weaker, then you are leaving yourselves open to attack; something you don't do for a simple attack like this.

I am going to post now, and I will end this mini-rant with a warning.

Spam me with ships and you WILL regret it.

Also, I would like if people posted what they currently have in the battle, number of ships and their classes if possible, and what is incoming.

IC: The Tau Empire did not always send out fleets to explore, although they did this from time to time when they made major pushes for colonization. So, most of the time, they sent small Escort ships to scout out new territories, as well as launching Skether'Qan class Escorts to scout out new territories, as well as new galactic entities. To determine their strength, their culture and how they will respond to the offer to join the Greater Good. And the Water Caste could negotiate a favorable agreement that would lead to their eventual absorption.....or if they needed to apply force. So it was, that several days ago, one of their ships had come across the Goa'uld Empire. Surprised and curious, they began to watch it from a distance, noting its culture, technology and military. The Ethereals were disappointed to see their fanatical devotion to false Gods, and were disgusted to see how eager they were to abuse, murder, maim and torture the people under their rule. Civil rights were unknown, and these Goa'uld who controlled their Empire like Gods, with their technology, they were corrupt and evil.

So it was after a heavy council meeting on Vior'la with several Ethereals and Shas'o's, that it was apparent that the Goa'uld needed to be destroyed, and the people they subjugated, these....Jaffa, given their freedom. So it was that under the guidance of the Ethereal Aun'O Kara'lith, a mighty battle fleet was gathered over the course of a week, switching patrol orders, drawing off ships and replacing them, as well as receiving reinforcements of Fire Warriors, Battlesuits, and Skyray and Hammerhead Gunships, under the command of Shas'O Ta'ura. Gathered on Vior'la, all that was needed was a properly experienced Air Caste commander. After some searching, one was found from Vash'ya. Kor'O Na'laer, an experienced and determined commander who had seen action in several border skirmishes against the Orks and the Imperials, he was chosen to lead the battle fleet. All was prepared and soon enough, the final day of preparation came. They were checking to make sure all supplies were ready, that every fighter and ship was in perfect working order, ensuring there would be no worries about equipment failures; it also served as the time for the various captains, Shas'ui and other veterans to give their rousing speeches to their forces.

The battle occurring above Kelis had been found by one of the roving Messenger ships, which had immediately stayed for as long as it could delay, gathering and storing information on the weapons, armaments and tactics of all the combatants, before leaving for Vior'la.

Five hours later, it appeared in orbit and hell broke loose. Both Ta'ura, and Na'laer realized this was the perfect opportunity to attack. A nation was attacking the Goa'uld Empire, distracting it and weakening the Goa'uld by drawing away and destroying vital ships and manpower. This would be their best bet to attack and gain a quick advantage. Reinforcements were being prepared and called together in key locations, to be sent in case they were needed. However, they were confident they would not be needed. A quick and brutal strike would give them the foothold they needed to continue their liberation of the Jaffa and aiding this....Coalition would give them an ally, another race who could be offered to join, or at least, aid the Greater Good.

The battle fleet was compromised of four Lar'shi class and five Lar'Shi'Vre class cruisers, along with two Demiurg Bastion class Commerce Vessels. The Tau knew they would need some heavy firepower and had paid well for the Demiurg's services. Three Or'es El'leath class Battleships were also assigned to the fleet, with the Vior'la's Pride, Kor'o Na'laer's personal ship and now the flagship of the fleet. To help guard and protect these ships from enemy frigates and destroyers, they had eight Kir'Qath class, six Skether'Qan class, five Kir'shasvre class, four Kass'L class Escorts, with the nine Kir'La class Escorts being used to protect the Or'es El'leath Battleships. Within their holds, a massive force of Fire Warriors and vehicles was ready and waiting to begin a massive campaign of conquest.

The Tau Empire had devoted itself to war....and it would prevail against all odds.

*********

As the battle raged, there came a series of bright flashes, and the entire forty-two ship Tau battle fleet exited the Immaterium, purple lightning blasting everywhere as that realm of Chaos violently expunged the massive force the Tau were sending. Kor'o Na'laer stood on the bridge of the Vior'la's Pride, gazing at the rest of the bridge crew. Turning her head, she spoke.

<"Kor'la Jal'lis, what is the status of the fleet?""

"Ready and set; all they need are your orders to deploy." Na'laer nodded.

<"Very well, have all the Skether'Qan escorts deploy and begin collecting information. I want to know what we are dealing with and be able to get the best targeting data.">

The Kor'la nodded and began inputting the orders. All over the fleet, gravitic sheaths which held the escorts, who could not jump as they had no etherdrives, were deactivated and they deployed, huddling close to the capital ships. Powering up their immensely powerful sensors, they washed over the battlefield, taking in the data, storing and processing it before sending it to the fleet. The Kor'o nodded and spoke. He made a hand motion to the communication officer and a channel was quickly opened to the Coalition fleet. Due to their experiences with the Imperials, they could speak Terran and such as it was, the Tau decided to spare the Coalition the effort of decoding their language, as difficult as it was.

"Coalition fleet, this is Kor'i Na'laer of the Tau Empire. I have come to aid you in defeating the vile Goa'uld, who hold the peoples of its empire in its iron grasp. The Greater Good demands that we free them and as such, we have come to do just that. We offer a temporary alliance to engage the Goa'uld and their allies and ensure victory."

Shortly after, a message was sent to both the Goa'uld and their Theoroshian allies.

"You have tortured your people for far too long, you Goa'uld. The Greater Good does not have room for your kind and as such, you will be cast down and destroyed. Surrender now and you may still live. Continue to fight us and we will destroy every ship you send at us. Any those who ally with these tyrants will get the same fate. This is your only warning."

Na'laer turned to the communications officer, who muted their side of the channels. <"Have all fighters and bombers ready for combat and tell the fleet to power up weapons and get into battle formations. I doubt the Goa'uld will accept our demands; their pride blinds them to the truth of the Greater Good."> The fleet began to shift, escorts taking positions around the larger ships, while the ships configured with the larger ones being protected by the smaller ones. Battle was coming and the Tau were ready.

2 Battleships (A.I. 1, Master)
2 Destroyers (Krystal, Grass)
4 Cruisers (A.I. 3, A.I. 2, A.I. 9, Lord)
1 Medical Ship (Silk)
1 Carrier (A.I. 7)
A.I. ships are ships controlled almost entirely by A.I., with a skeleton crew onboard to fix any problems, as well as pilots. I have roughly 900 Million people in NS, and my entire fleet consists of about 100 Capital ships, to give you an idea of my strength and power. Small craft, such as fighters, are much more plentiful. I may summon this small fleet, I may not. I don't know. Just winging it here. Any additional info needed can be found in the second page, military section of my factbook, displayed as a link at the bottom.
IC: The little scout watched with interest as a 4th fleet of about 45 ships enter the system. They seemed not to notice the scout hanging at the edge of the battle. Communications washed over the scout and trasnmissions were picked up and listened to. All this was being transmitted back to the 1st Assualt fleet, which was in turn transmitting it back to Xiscapia in an untracable pattern. Therefore the Xiscapians inside knew more or less what was happening.
This...fleet from the ones who call themselves the Tau, who do they serve then?
The Greater Good, perhaps. But there are those who have do the work of the Ruinious Powers in the name of the Greater Good, so we shall see.
This is getting big and complicated. How does this relate to our search?
We need information on who knew the North Calaverans and who could have wiped them out. Any one of these nations may have it.
Where are the Alversians searching?
Who knows? I think they're still scouring the NC system for clues to the attackers identity. Not that they'll find any. No bodies, no destroyed ships, no dead ground troops, nothing.
Who could go up against an entire Armada like that and win, not taking a single loss?
I don't know. But it scares me.
OOC @ NC: Who do you want to have destroyed the North Calaverans? The Goa'uld? Also, is it okay if at some point Alversia might join this thread?

OOC: I only have one group in-system, and it is an armored survey flotilla that happened upon the battle. It sent a message for reinforcements. How is that breaking the laws of TIME and DISTANCE?

I wasn't speaking to you, it was more of a general sense. I apologize, you did just fine. Normally I don't like it when people bring large fleets off the bat, but with the fleets Cazelia and NC are pulling in out of thin air, I can't blame you. Hell, my fleet is almost the same size as yours. =P

It was directed more towards Cazelia and NC anyways, who keep pulling in ships and losing them like water.

This could not go on. The survey flotilla had done what they could, but of the original twenty eight ships of the Combat team, only nine remained. Although the Survey team was still intact with eleven ships, all of the ships were unarmed save for a few missile launchers. Of the nine ships left in the Combat team, all suffered some form of damage, and two could only move under emergency power.

The decision was made by Lieutenant General Alekysayev, eighth in line in the chain of command. All of the others before him were either dead or missing in action, and until the battle ceased, nothing could be done.

What remained of the Flotilla began to transit away from the system. However, one ship sent of this message to all of the ships in-system before it too transited out of the system.

The scout ship, though the message was not aimed at it, recieved it anyway due to the burst transmission.
"Mistakenly identified as hostiles" Right.
We totally believe that.
So now what happens?
Most likely these "Go'auld" will be annilhated or at least serverly damaged. With the first fleet, the new fleet, and another on the way, they will likely soon be conqured.
Yes. Then do we actually do what we came here for?
Actually, I was rather enjoying this. But yes, afterwards we do contact each race and try to find out the wareabouts of the enemy.

It was almost laughable. The maneuver hadn't been noticed! When the flotilla had finally transited, none of the present fleets had realized that two ships were missing. In reality, they had turned on their cloaking and went to minimum power. No ships would find them here, and now they would be able to watch the battle, and see what the scout ship that had appeared from nowhere was doing here.

The commander briefly wondered if he should sent a message to the scout ship, but quickly put that thought down. These ships could not be found, for they were the only things that could report what was happening to the Fleet coming into the system.

Also, can I have a list of what you have insystem and enroute as reinforcements?

IC: <"Kor'o, we are receiving a transmission from the Goa'uld's allies. They also appear to be retreating."> Na'laer glanced over at the Kor'la, eyes narrowed. The tone of voice of the Kor'la seemed to signal something had happened, something significant. However, the veteran was skilled enough to hide what he was feeling. Damn, they were pulling the old verbal trap, making their commander fall into their verbal trap. Sighing, the Tau admiral rubbed his head and spoke.

<"What are they saying, Kor'la?"> The veteran smirked and reached over to trigger the holofield for the bridge, which displayed the message that was received from the retreating Theoroshians.

BURST TRANSMISSION.

Na'laer stared at the message for a full five seconds, stunned at her good luck. Then a happy smile overcame her face. They were retreating for the "Greater Good", these people understand the beliefs of the Tau. Negotiations with them would be most invigorating. Smirking, she turned to the communications officer. <"Have the fleet be informed of our good fortune and send a Skether'Qan to notify Vior'la as well."> The Kor'la nodded and set about notifying the fleet. A single Messenger boat broke away from the fleet, using the calm before the storm to quickly power up its Warp drives and head for Vior'la. The rest of the fleet continued to head for the Goa'uld fleet. The Kor'la spoke again, this time unhappy and grim.

<"Kor'o, the Goa'uld have sent us a message."> Na'laer nodded and waved her hand for him to show the message. Tapping several holographic keys, the message slid into focus.

Why do you invade my space? Na'laer's fists clenched as anger filled her eyes. Were they deaf?! She had stated their reasons for their destruction in her opening transmission. These Goa'uld must have ignored it for the sake of their foolish pride and arrogance. <"Open a channel to the source of that transmission. I will remind them a second time of their crimes."> Wordlessly, the bridge crew followed her commands and soon enough a channel was opened to Kash.

We are not "invading" your space. This is not your space, conqueror. You took it unjustly from beings who were too weak to defend themselves. You arrogantly call yourself Gods, you oppress your people and you thrust your arrogance in direct defiance of the Greater Good of all. The peoples of the universe would be greatly improved with your race destroyed. You have one chance, Goa'uld to surrender, and we will allow you to leave your empire and live, taking to the stars and leaving these people to suffer your corruption no longer. If refused, I will bring the might of the Tau Empire on your head. I advise you choose the right course of action. As of now, even your Theoroshian allies have deserted you, seeing how evil you truly are. You have no hope, Goa'uld, for victory and every chance for defeat. Give up now or lose everything."

She finished, her chest heaving and her eyes blaring with hot anger. The channel was muted on their side, allowing her a chance to breathe and give orders. Her crew gazed at her, stunned. They had never seen her this angry. Turning to them, she snapped out orders. <"What are you looking at? Get the fleet ready for battle!"> One Kor'ui, a new crewmember recently transfered, bravely spoke up.

<"K-Kor'o, the fleet has a-a-already reported its readiness."> She stared at him, making him melt into his seat as much as was possible, before she smiled.

<"Good. Good. Then prepare to the target locks for the fleet and their firing solutions. I want the first salvo to drive the spear of the Greater Good into their hearts, if they choose to spurn our offer. I will see their oppressed freed, if I have to fight until the end of time, the Goa'uld will fall.">

I wont surrender on your terms, i will send an ambassador to talk to you, is this acceptable?

Na'laer's right eye twitched. She had explained, vehemently, twice now. TWICE! the Tau stance on them, and their demands. Yet this Goa'uld decided to play possum and try to act all nice. Negotiating for terms? She closed her eyes, struggling to calm down and keep a lid on her anger. ”It is far too late for that; the Water Caste and Ethereals are in agreement to the defeat of the Goa'uld. Our people won't even negotiate unless they come to our terms." She thought to herself. Letting out a breath and calming herself down, she nodded to the communications Kor'la, who reopened the channel.

Obviously, I was not clear the first time. The Tau Empire is wholly determined to see the peoples under your control freed from your vile domination. The Goa'uld time and time again have demonstrated themselves as power mad maniacs who kill whom they please and take great pleasure in dominating their peoples, as well as crushing those who try to resist. Suich behavior leaves no room for negotiation, only for extreme actions. And we have taken our path. Unless you wish to negotiate your surrender and arrangements for your banishment from this space, there is nothing left to talk about. Unless you wish to surrender now, we shall crush you and your forces into dust. Make your choice.

Na'laer closed her eyes and bowed her head slightly, gathering her thoughts for what she was about to order. The crew waited on baited breath as she lifted her head and opened her eyes. As she waved for the channel to be muted, which the communication Kor'la accomplished quickly, she spoke. <”It is time to show our resolve. Scramble all Barracuda and Tiger Shark craft, and have them take up offensive formations around the fleet. Also, have the Manta crews on standby, in case they choose to take the wrong path. Have the fleet begin target locks on the Goa'uld fleet; the Empire means business and we need to show it.”> They nodded and set to work. From all over the fleet, hangar doors opened and fightercraft swarmed out into the blackness of space, taking up formations all over the fleet, pointed towards the enemy fleet. The fleet itself began to gain target locks on the Goa'uld fleet, securing targeting data for the first barrage. All they waited for was the response of the Goa'uld, though many knew what the answer would probably be.

The battle would soon begin and they would prove once and for all, the power of the Greater Good.

IC: Na'laer rubbed her temples and reopened the channel.

Let me put it into simple terms. We want you and your entire race of parasites, you Goa'uld, to be cast down from power and for your slaves, your Jaffa, to choose their own government. We have seen it proven again and again your kind cannot control itself from abusing power. We are also not stupid; the moment we left, you would just start oppressing them again. We are not fools. The terms I have expressed are THE terms. We can negotiate how you leave this nation or your imprisonment, but anything else is unacceptable.

We will let them run to their little hole, wherever it may be. They will be found sooner or later, and the Empire will be there, to bring justice in the name of the Greater Good."> She turned, her cloak swirling around her armor as she exited the bridge.

Na'laer watched as the remaining Goa'uld ships shot into hyperspace, retreating before the might of the Tau fleet, which didn't even have to lift a finger in battle against them. This was going to be easier than they had originally planned. Crossing her arms, she spoke. <”Well, that was easy. Have the fleet begin to take up positions around the planet; I want orbital control and I want it now!”> A chorus of affirmations sounded and the fleet began to disperse, moving to cover the orbit of Kelis, and within moments, were cruising calmly above the planet, establishing orbital control and possession of the space around Kelis. As Na'laer was over-seeing the fleet operation, the doors to the bridge opened. Turning, Na'laer saw who it was and she clamped an arm across her breastplate and bowed.

<”Aun'o Shei, I did not expect to see you here.”>

A calm and wise voice sounded as a powerful hand put itself gently on the Air Caste Commander's shoulder. <”It is alright, Na'laer, you did not expect me seeing as a battle was about to be underway, but here I am. We must begin the colonization of this planet at once. Their people must be given a chance to see the light of the Greater Good.”> The Kor'o nodded, and stood up.

<”Understood, Aun'Shei, it will be done.”> Turning, she began barking out orders and getting the fleet started in pre-invasion procedures. The Ethereal stood there, gazing at everything with his large black eyes, watching as the Tau under his care worked on furthering the Greater Good. Aun'o Kath'ra Shei was the Ethereal sent to lead the Coalition that had been sent to fight the Goa'uld and free the slaves under their harsh rule. Clasping his hands around his battle-staff, he continued to watch, as the Tau Coalition began to unfold its many forces and prepare them for landings on the planet. The Skether'Qan Escorts began to sweep the planet with their sensors, saving and relaying the information back. All was being prepared for the assault....but first, they had to deal with the other alien powers that were in the system.

Na'laer saw her command console light up, showing an inbound transmission which had been routed to her. Sighing to herself, she sat in her command chair, and pressed the key. This activated the holo-channel projector, which displayed the message and the speaker of said message.

Greetings, fellow travelers of the stars. We are the Xiscapians. We have recently had a war, and was mounting a final assault on our enemie's home world, only to find that it had been utterly wiped out, and their Home Fleet with it. We now search for the one's who murdered a world. These people were known as the North Calaverans. Does anyone have any information regarding the perpetrator of their destruction?

The Kor'o raised an eyebrow. She had no idea who these Northt Calaverans were or what these Xiscapians wanted. As long as they didn't try to interrupt their operation, they would be fine. A simple message was sent back.

We know nothing of these 'North Calaverans'. If you wish to search for them, fine, but do so at another planet. We have claimed this planet and its local space for our people, and unless you have negotiated for such rights, we would like you to leave our space. Unless you seek to aid us in our mission, then we can discuss possible rights being granted to you

Another message made itself known, and once more, Na'laer read it.

This is Fleet Admiral Jonathon Olritz, commander of the 1st Theoroshian Federation Star Fleet. What are your intentions, and what are your beliefs?

Additionally, our scouts have shown that you are using the planet to repair and house your star ships. We request that we are allowed to dock and meet with your commander.

This is Kor'o Na'laer of the Tau Empire, leader of this fleet. We are here to free this planet from their evil Goa'uld masters and show them the light of the Greater Good. We believe in spreading the Greater Good throughout the stars and negotiating for it rather than war. As for your request, you may be allowed with the space around the planet and to send a representative to this ship. Inform us when you have done so.

Na'laer, with the messages replied to, returned to her work, only find that her crew had set everything up. <”Kor'o, Shas'o Tau'ra reports that her forces are ready and all she needs is the order to launch and for the proper landing sites to be given.”> The fleet commander rubbed her chin as she looked over the data coming from the Skether'Qan escorts. Taking the ports was out of the question; short of bombardment, it would take significant effort to get those and neither tactic would be cost-effective. However, they had another option open to them.

<”Deploy all Barracudas. Tiger Sharks and Mantas and have them secure an air-zone in quadrant 0456, and have them clear out patches of the forest. They will be fed targeting data from the Skether'Qan's. After which, send Tau'ra her deployment orders and have some of the Barracudas and Mantas, fly escort for her dropships. Once on the ground, she will fulfill her objectives and the fighters will return to patrols.”> The communications officer nodded and sent the message.

Soon, all of the fighters zipping about the fleet turned and headed for the planet, specifically a forest that was a great distance from the lake or any of the cities, whereupon most took up patrol routes, establishing an air defense net around the entire section of forest selected. Then, squadrons of Barracudas and Mantas began to target key spots in the forest, blasting away tree and undergrowth with their railguns, ion cannons, missiles, and burst cannons. Fires were ignited and quickly put out and within minutes, the patches were cleared.

Then, more squadrons were launched protecting a host of Orca dropships which transported Shas'o Tau'ra and her forces, as they dispersed to all the different patches. They were met by flashes of light as jump drones launched down from the fleet, dropping key structures and crates of supplies and ammo to the series of outposts being built in the forest. The dropships headed for the areas, where they would unloaded squads upon squads of Fire Warriors, Vespids, Gue'vesa, Kroot as well as various Battlesuits, stealthsuits, Pathfinder scouts, and tanks and/or vehicles of every class or type. This was a major assault force, however it was broken up into a couple Cadres per outpost, allowing them to cover a wide area and not concentrate their forces in one spot.

The invasion had begun and the campaign to take Kelis...had finally started.

Aun'o Siv'ai, one of the Ethereals on T'au itself. She had been interested in the campaign - the crusade against the Go'auld ever since she had heard about it, in the chambers of those who ruled the Empire, the councils of the Ethereal Caste.

With good reason. She had been one of those who had led the Fire Caste to Kae'la, where they had wiped out Orks - fought Killkroozers with mere Kass'l ships, Fire Warrior facing down the brutal Ork in their tens of thousands. She knew well how aliens could imperil the Greater Good. Her anger at what had happened - how parasites had infested entire planets, was great.

Nonetheless, she had forebodings about the war. That so many ships were launched so quickly - and when new aliens abounded on every side, indeed, reports of attacks, from Kae'la to Fy'ria.. she hoped that Shei had not taken his decision lightly. He would not have.

She sighed. If such a war was to be fought, it must be over quickly. Should it lead to the peril of the Empire, she would do all she could to pull Shei back from the prize of unconquered worlds - for the Greater Good.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a single Tau, limping up the corridor towards her. "Shas'o?", she asked, surprised.

"Yes, Aun'o. It is I. Shas'o Hala Sa'cea. I come to speak with you, about my warriors."

"Your warriors?", she asked, calmly.

"Yes, Aun'o. Or rather, those I have commanded and trained for the Greater Good. They are readied. They hunger to serve, to forward the ends of the Tau. It is my wish that they be bloodied against a greater foe than a few feral Orks. They require more training, and many Cadres are prepared. I believe that Sa'cea, although she has done much for the Empire with her Fire Warriors, requires to fight more in order to further the Greater Good. Since the campaigns on the outer worlds, I am sadly lacking in veteran warriors and trained, combat-ready commanders. Merely dispatching a few thousand to this new campaign would benefit my forces greatly."

"Hala, I admire your dedication. However, how do you intend to get them there? Ships are not suborned so easily from the Empire's purposes. It would be months before I could send you and your troops to aid the Empire, especially with this new campaign ongoing, and many transports required to bring supplies to the forces we have already sent."

Hala's teeth bared in a fascimile of a grin, a human habit he had adopted since fighting alongside the gue'vesa many times. "Aun'o, there are many spaces for troops. Though I am but the master of cadets, and the one who runs the training programs in Sa'cea, many blooded warriors have indicated their willingness to share space with cadets so that they may train them in the ways of the Greater Good."

A fleet, Siv'ai knew, had already been prepared to come to the relief of the invading forces. It would be weeks in preparation, and weeks more in transit - so it would be some months before it arrived to aid the forces in orbit above Kelis, which, of course, was why it was being prepared now. Almost sixty ships, a basic force, had been prepared for the follow-up invasion. Tens of thousand of Fire Warriors were boarding the ships - as were almost obscene amounts of armour and fighters.

Perhaps, she thought, weeks would be an underestimation. Organizing these things without stripping the Empire of her defenses was no easy task. She had been placed in charge of merely organizing the forces from Sa'cea, and that alone was a herculean task, with many Fire and Air Caste advisors about forces, Water Caste diplomats to ensure all went smoothly, and Earth Caste engineers and statisticians to add the numbers up, so that the engine of bureacracy within the Tau Empire ran smoothly, as it should.

"Very well, Hala. Take your cadets, and let them fight. I will attempt to disperse them, so they arrive slowly. I would not inconvinience Shas'o Tau'ra with major influxes of green troops without due warning, or a chance for her to put them in with her other reinforcements."

The Fire Caste commander nodded gratefully, and moved off down the hallway. She thought about what had happened. Was it wise to give in to such a demand? Perhaps. Perhaps not. But it was undeniable that Sa'cea and Vior'la had been taking the brunt of the casualties for the Fire Caste, in the new waves of colonization. And, although Vior'la had such training ways as Sa'cea could scarcely imagine, readying their troops for combat on their own fiery, hellish world, Sa'cea did not have such faculties. Despite their skill at shooting, their ability to maneuver vehicles, and even that some had fought against the occasional feral Ork, the Sa'ceans had not been involved in many major conflicts in a large way, with their recruits, their cadets. Now, perhaps, would be a good time. Even though casualties could be high, it was a needed sacrifice, to ensure that Sa'cean warriors remained the mightiest in the Northern Empire.

That, of course, aided the Greater Good.

I am Aun'o Siv'ai, Coalition leader of the Sa'cean forces who will be organized to reinforce your campaign. Shas'o Hala, writer of doctrine with which to train Sa'cean Shas'saal troops, has requested that his Shas'saal cadets be sent to your theatre of war, so that they may gain experience. As such, I have authorized the sending of cadets alongside Shas'la warriors, in smaller numbers, to ensure that Sa'cea does not lose her edge in warfare.

The message was sent. It would be some time in transit, and, hopefully, though, she would receive a reply within days.

She strode down to the Council chambers, thinking of what she would say when she arrived. Her business was minor, yet useful.

When she did, an Ethereal was talking, his rolling voice, his charisma, spread to the whole of T'au, and, from there, his words taken from one end of the Empire to the other.

"We cannot remain idle while those who threaten and oppose the Greater Good work against us! For Tau to prosper, we must expand! But we must show all others the way of the Greater Good. This campaign is a great endeavour of the Empire. Should we lose, Tau'va will be halted. It is then, because of this, that all Septs who can afford it must send aid! When these new people are incorporated into the Empire, then, and only then, once the parasitic Go'auld are crushed, can we rest for a time."

She looked down at him. There were many, many Ethereals on T'au, and she did not recognise them all. "Good speaker", she replied, stepping down to the centre of the floor, "I must agree. For Tau to prosper, this campaign must do so, as well. And reinforcements are well under way, fleets are being readied, and, when Aun'o Shei desires them, requires them, they will be there. I have myself come back, after meeting with Shas'o Hala Sa'cea, master of Shas'saal cadets on Sa'cea, and he has voiced a single concern. Not that this campaign takes too many of them, or that it is a strain on their resources - rather, that the cadets are not being given the oppurtunity to fight, for they would dearly love to serve the Greater Good. Indeed, the only fault our mighty Empire can find in this campaign is that they cannot serve in it themselves, when all wish to!"

Outside, and elsewhere, in their homes and in their places of work, members of all Castes burst into applause, at the speeches the Ethereals were giving. Truly, without the Ethereals, there would be little chance of attaining the Greater Good.

And in orbit of Sa'cea, a fleet gathered, Orca dropships running back and forth from the surface, loading more and more into troopships. Tau'ra would have all she needed..

We know nothing of these 'North Calaverans'. If you wish to search for them, fine, but do so at another planet. We have claimed this planet and its local space for our people, and unless you have negotiated for such rights, we would like you to leave our space. Unless you seek to aid us in our mission, then we can discuss possible rights being granted to you
The following message was sent back:
Thank you for your time. We will aid you slightly, as we have orders to recover a Goa'uld ship from the planet. We will send two Elite Shadow Ops troopers and a platoon of Grunts to the surface of the planet to try to highjack a ship. The battleship Vision will aid you against any hostile craft for the duration of our mission. Once we have recovered a ship, we shall leave this space. Is this acceptable?
The battleship Vision popped in existance. The scout docked in a hanger. About 30 seconds later a shuttle and dropship flew out of the battleship's hanger. The Xiscapians were going to try to complete their mission whether the Tau liked it or not.

Space.
The Final frontier...
Our so we thought.
After the discovery of Zinc BetaChloride, space travel was used for a whole different meaning.
Planet's could be colonized in a matter of day's, energy was plucked right from the cosmo's, and the Dunerian Pretectorate had ruled it's planet's with the Concept of "Freedom Socialism".
Or so the story goes.

Comrade-Surveyor Dennis Reynold's small craft glided into the Securia sector.
Measuring energy read-out's, he saw a huge amount of energy, originating from a position deep within the sector.
Dennis thumbed the holo-feed and examined it.
Strange, there seemed to be a lot of activity throughout this preticular sector. The energy seemed to be man made.....
A battle perhaps?

Dennis clicked a button and 4 investi-pods zoomed towards the disturbence.
Their mission: to find out what the heck was going on.

The TSN Akula, named after the pre-space travel submarine class Akula, traveled towards the Telrosian fleet with it's shields down and weapons on stand-by.

The message from the Telrosians was comforting. These peopls obviously had no intent of hurting them, and (through guessing) had high moral standards, as they had said themeselves when they spoke of this 'Greater Good' of theirs. If couldn't be that much different than the teachings of Valros, who recreated the Theoroshian civilization by spreading his ideas on goodwill and peace.

The ship drew to the flag ship of the Telrosian fleet, and sent a message, asking for docking instructions. The ambassador, a recently appointed junior officer, was a little anxious. Hopefully, these people had similar ideals to Valros, and if not, then the ambassador hoped the protective armour he was wearing would help him.

OOC: Okay, no. Stop right there. You cannot just try to blast past a fleet of FORTY FIVE SHIPS, without waiting for their okay, and not allow me to reply, so you can get your forces down on the planet. No way, not going to happen. I made it very clear that my fleet moved and established TOTAL orbital control around the planet. Nothing can get in or out without my say so or a massive fleet, mmk?

So, your post of landing didn't happen. The Tau consider this planet theirs and said if you want on, thats fine but you need to negotiate first. You basically said, ok we want to do *blah blah blah*, is that okay?

And before we can reply, you just shoot down, going “Screw you, Tau, and your 45 ship fleet. I am going to try and run two dropships towards the planet (I know its a shuttle and dropship, but you get the point)

The Tau aren't going to like that and will shoot them down, which is what is going to happen. And I don't care how fast these things are, the Tau have overlapping fields of fire, lots of weapons, plenty of targeting data thanks to the Skether'Qan escorts and long-range weaponry, 45 ships worth. In essence, they'd never make it down.

If you had actually, you know, waited for me to reply giving you permission, then this wouldn't happen. But you decided to piss off the Tau and this is what you get. Those ships never landed, as this fleet is going to blast them to hell.

Next time, learn patience.

IC: The Tau watched the Theoroshian ship, having several escorts move out to escort it towards the flagship before peeling off to go back to their patrol routes. The message requesting docking instructions was received and a calm, gentle voice replied over the channel. “This is Kor'la Gaer'is, we will lock onto with our gravitic sheath and draw you in. I'd advise holding onto something, it gets a little bumpy.” Vior'la's Pride locked onto the ship and a gravitic sheath extended to grab the ship and pull it towards itself, slowly bringing the ship parallel to itself and locking onto it with several clamps. An airlock was extended towards the ship and latched on, giving the Theoroshians a perfect and safe way to get to the Tau ship.

However, trouble brewed. Na'laer had been fine in letting the Xiscapians going down to the planet, allies were always good to have. She turned to Shei. <”What do you think, Aun'o? Shall we let these Xiscapians down on the planet?”> The Ethereal gazed out into space, thinking. Before he was given a chance to answer, however, an alarm rang out, followed by the taut voice of the sensor officer.

<”Kor'o! The Xiscapian ship has launched two small craft towards the planet! They are heading at high speeds towards our force on the ground! Your will?”> Na'laer clenched her hands, anger rising within her, but a calming wave washed over here as the Ethereal said what she was about to shout out.

<”These aliens are impatient and do not seem to understand that the Tau Empire owns this planet completely, and all beings must go through us before entering our space. Show them the punishment of those who do not seek permission first, Kor'la. Destroy them.”>

The fleet turned and aimed its many Gun Turrets, missile arrays, ion cannon and railgun batteries at the two ships heading for the planet. Within seconds, after they locked on using data from the Skether'Qan escorts, they unloaded a immense wave of energy, missile and kinetic fire, filling space with their weaponry. They covered their fields of fire, each ship shooting within a certain area. With the fleet around the planet, and the renowned accuracy of Tau weaponry, this basically meant the entire local space around Kelis.

The ships would not survive this salvo.

OOC: And also, any attempt to say your ships survived will be considered godmodding and ignored. The Tau fire in overwhelming fields of fire and with great accuracy. I have 45 ships worth of guns vs two dropships. I doubt even a fly would survive in the hellstorm I just unleashed. Next time, don't get so cocky and think I will let this pass. Cause I won't.

OOC: I'm sorry, but I got tired of waiting for you to post. So I went for it, which has now cost me a shuttle and a dropship, a combined loss of two ships and 36 men, including two Shadow Ops troopers. Don't you think that's a little extreme? You are compleletly justified in doing this, but for someone who serves "The Greater Good" that was a tad harsh.
IC: The shuttle's transmitter crackled. "Pull up! Massive weapons fire-" A huge explosion of light and energy followed, completly obliterating both ships in the blink of an eye. There was nothing left, not even two atoms connected together.
_____________
The Vision...
The Captain stared in growing horror and fury as the entire fleet turned and opened fire on the shuttle and dropship. There was an explosion, huge and bright, and then nothing. "No..." he wispeared. He began trembeling. He had been friends with those men. Comrades. And then...a burst of light, an explosion, and then they simply didn't exist. Gone. His nails bit into his palms as his fists clentched. He bit down on his lip so hard it began to bleed. "Get me..." he stopped, breathing in. And out. "Get me a direct contact link with their Admiral."

"For the Tau'va."

Shas'saal Leii looked down at the pulse rifle nervously. Her La'rua had just been formed. A member of another Sa'cean Kau'ui, they had been gathered in greater numbers than they would normally be. There were only two cadets in a squad of twelve - a squad which would normally be composed of ten Tau - and only a third of the squads being dispatched had them. For now. She had been told that, as the planet was secured, the percentage of cadets would be increased. She had been given a pair of photon grenades, and would be issued a pulse rifle on arrival. The one she had in her hands was a marked, scratched affair, the pulse rifle of Shas'ui Tevrel.

He had asked her to deliver it to him as soon as he got onboard the ship. Why, she did not know. Especially since she was the newest member of the team - even newer than the other cadets, Inar.

The transport shifted beneath her feet. Unnerving. She had been readied for space combat, training aboard the orbital cities of the Air Caste for almost a month, but real space travel was different. Soon enough, Tevrel would arrive from the surface, and the first unit of reinforcements would be sent. A convoy of transports, alongside a Lar'shi cruiser, and an Il'fannor cruiser - carrying two Orca escorts, would reinforce the Tau forces already on campaign. It was not the most powerful of reinforcements, but it took time to ready a major fleet.

Nevertheless, in the transports - and in the cruisers, thousands upon thousands of Fire Warriors awaited, prepared for their turn at the enemy. Prepared to die - and to kill, in order to serve the Tau'va.

Leii was merely one of them. She, too, knew that it was likely she might die. Campaigning against a well-prepared enemy was far more dangerous than campaiging against some feral Orks. Nevertheless, she was prepared to do her part for the Greater Good. The ship shifted again, and a rough voice echoed through the corridors.

"This is Kor'vre Shataal, be advised that the last transport, carrying those meeting with the illustrious Aun'o Siv'ai, has been brought aboard. We will be leaving shortly. Now, this has been covered, but many of you are apparently Shas'saal, and may not have done this before. Before we enter the Immaterium, a warning will be sounded. Return to your quarters when it does, and prepare yourselves for combat. Although the likelihood of a creature spawned from the Warp coming after us is exceedingly low, we will not be caught unreadied. Once the transit is over, we will have to make five more jumps such. That is all."

She nodded. Now, to find her quarters.. her team was to share a room with others of their Cadre. It would build comradeship. They would know each other in the transit.

Down the hall, left, left again, and then right. The door slid open, revealing many Tau cleaning their weapons - some practing games of strategy, others eating. The room was spacious. Privacy was not needed between soldiers. One had no privacy on the battlefield. No privacy when conducting surprise attacks. None in the air. Why give Tau a luxury that would only hurt when taken away? That was the reasoning, in any case. Her hooves needed to be tended to, but.. where was the team leader? She looked around, but could not spot him.

She kept the rifle in her arms, scanning the room. None of the other Tau found it strange. Yet one came and asked her. "Who do you seek?"

"I am Shas'saal Leii, serving Shas'ui Tevrel's La'rua. He desires his pulse rifle to be given to him. He asked me specifically to deliver it."

The warrior nodded. "I am Shas'o Nimbe. Commander of this Cadre. I believe he will not be much longer. I sent him on behalf of the Cadre to discover Aun'o Siv'ai's message, as I was needed here to organise the Cadre. Why are you late?"

She gulped. "Forgive me, Shas'o. I was only just shipped up. And I have never been on a starship before, so-"

Nimbe laughed. "Do not worry, child. I do not believe we should be shipping off Shas'saal warriors to a conflict of this scale, and one we know so little about. Especially you few, the first, with no oppurtunity to train for it well beforehand. Just remember to keep a level head on your shoulders. I suspect, with your obedience to duty, should you survive this, you will go far serving the Greater Good."

If you survive this. The words cut into her like a knife. She was willing to serve, but.. she did not wish to die.

A shiver ran through her body, and she nodded curtly. Nimbe looked over her shoulder, and laughed again. "Here is Tevrel now. Go give him his rifle, Cadet."

She strode up to him, and handed him the rifle, bowing her head respectfully. "Here is the rifle you requested, Shas'ui."

He looked down at her coldly. "Thank you. Cadet."

He almost spat the last word out. She shrunk back a bit, but seemingly uncaring, he walked off.

Nimbe walked up behind her. "I suspect something was said at the meeting. And he did not like it. Do not worry, Leii. I will find out what it was of him. He is not always so abrasive. Do not let your first impression of him be curdled by his bad mood."

She nodded, and dashed off. For a moment, she wished real Fire Warriors were going. Those with combat experience. Those who knew what they were doing. She was on a starship, off to fight a war against an enemy who would not care about her inexperience. She- she had never even taken a kill before.

Perhaps there was someone, somewhere, who would help her practice. She needed it.

"We will enter the Immaterium presently."

That was the only warning she got. Thrown a pistol by a helpful member of her team, she readied herself for combat. There would be none, but she could not know. Fighting against feral Orks was quite a task, yet the survival rate was well over ninety percent. And they were never sent in without fire support, and the support of many members of their team.

No klaxon sounded, merely a cold rush as they were swept into what lay between the material dimension, and the Immaterium. She shivered. It was cold. Yet it was not the real Warp, and, for that, she was thankful. The propaganda of the Chaos-worshippers she had seen was horrific, the admittedly strange forms of the gue'vesa warped beyond compare, filled with corruption and decay, mutations springing up over their bodies.

It was some time later, once they had left the between-place, that she found the strength to speak. "Shas'o Nimbe, I have a question."

Already, it seemed, she was developing a special rapport with the Shas'o. Or perhaps the experienced Tau commander, with all her battles under her belt, understood the fear of the ten or so cadets she had in her Cadre of their first battles.

"Yes, Shas'saal?"

"May I speak to the Shas'ui now?"

Nimbe laughed. It was a peculiar thing for the stolid Tau, but she did it all the same. A chuckle and more laughter came forth.

"What is it, Shas'o?"

Nimbe calmed herself. "It is peculiar, cadet. You fear to speak to your team leader, but you are perfectly fine with accosting the commander of a cadre as though she were a close friend. And yes, Shas'ui Tevrel has calmed down now. It was merely a worry he had."

Leii stepped over to Tevrel. He worried over his pulse rifle, rotating it slowly in his hands, twisting small pieces of metal here and there - touching knobs and moving them to exact positions.

"Excuse me, Shas'ui."

"Yes?"

He looked up, and spoke curtly, anger visible in his face.

"I-I.. I am just wondering. What place will I have on this la'rua. What will be my tasks?"

As if struck by some invisible needle, Tevrel deflated, looking down. "I am not sure, cadet. I disagree with this decision to bring you heartily."

"You think I should not have come?"

Tevrel nodded. "Indeed. Against an unknown enemy, it should be left to the Shas'la. Pitting you against enemies we have already formulated tactics for is simple enough, but here.. I fear the attrition rate will be high enough for those who have already fought for the Empire. You, cadet, have never killed. Never felt the rushing heart-beat when you are surrounded and know not what to do. When the vital moment comes, you may freeze in indecision, unable to act - not because of your devotion, which I do not doubt, but rather because you have not felt the feelings before, and will not be able to away with them quickly. I cannot rely on you because of this, and must protect you, for to leave you to die denies the suzerainty of the Tau'va. So I will be hampered in my decisions, and.. I feel this works against the Greater Good."

She looked at him, mildly stunned. The Ethereals had decreed that it would be so. Who was he to deny them? She spoke.

"Yet it is known Sa'cea has a shortage of veterans. Perhaps this baptism by fire will win you new warriors, better than ever before."

If he agreed, he did not show it. "Perhaps. In any case. You will be issued with a pulse rifle, armour, and grenades. You will be assigned to an active Fire Warrior. You will serve as additional firepower to your Shas'la until I believe you are ready to be more than that. Other than that, stay out of harm's way. And serve the Greater Good."

The ritual struck, and she spoke. "For the Tau'va, Shas'ui."

He looked at her, winced, and replied. "For the Tau'va, Shas'saal. Go, get some rest. Or perhaps speak to the rest of the team. Anything you feel you'll need to be prepared."

They would only be hours in the transit. By the time the first battles had been fought by the Tau and the Go'auld, she would be in the fighting. It was hard to imagine. Yet, the truth was undeniable.

Rather than rest - for the Tau had fortitude, if not strength, she decided to talk to others in her La'rua. Learn what she could. Know those in the team, so that she would better fit in. Serving the Greater Good would not be easy, here. Tevrel's speech had only reassured her of that. Yet, if she died, it would be for the Tau'va. And that would not be such a bad thing.. would it?

The Kor'o stood on the bridge, her face tense. The Ethereal gazed along with her at the fiery remnants of the Xiscapian ships, before turning to Na'laer. <”It is regrettable we were forced to that action, however, we are at war, Kor'o. And we must take certain measures to obtain a secure zone for our forces, as well as protect our ground forces. Why would they try to distract us with a calm offer for aid then run two ships past our blockade? We are forced to assume the worst, Na'laer.”> The Air Caste Commander nodded and her shoulders drooped a little as some of the tenseness left her.

<”I know, Aun'o, it just...seems like a waste of life. I am also angry that they would seek to spurn our good graces as such.”> She gazed at the communication officer turning to catch the incoming Xiscapian signal, and her eyes narrowed. <”And they of course are angered. But as you said, Aun'O, we are at war and we cannot spare any from the flame. If it means protecting a single Tau that I must destroy a thousand invaders, then so be it.”> The Ethereal bowed his head.

<”I do not wish for it to come to that, Kor'o, but yes, we must make hard choices sometimes. Go talk with these Xiscapians. But keep the fleet prepared; if they try anything foolish like attacking, then we better be able to counter them.”>

<”Understood, Aun'O.”> Na'laer walked over to the station and nodded to the communications Kor'la, who opened the channel to the Xiscapian ship.

This is Kor'o Na'laer speaking. I am going to keep this short and to the point. You chose to send your ships to the planet without finishing negotiations with us for their approved entry. We are at war, sir, and we do not take chances that could take the lives of the Tau I have sent down to fight and liberate this planet. Next time, do not get so impatient; impatience is deadly in the armed forces, sir. We have established control over this space, so it is now considered part of the Tau Empire. Not only that, but we are in the process of fighting a war, so martial law has been imposed. Any and all intruders who try to force their way through, especially in such a manner, will be dealt with as such. A harsh action, yes, but it is my soldiers I have to worry about, and their lives that rely on me to protect them. In short, I will warn you not to do such ever again, and if you try to bring a fleet in, we will not hesitate to protect our space. I advise you take care in choosing your course of action more carefully next time.

The Alkesh and Gliders were stopped before they could reach the infantry by the hundreds of Barracuda and Tiger Shark fighters. The Tau had set up an air defense net of these fighters, with Manta's running air support, transport and as a last line of defense in case the Goa'uld got through. So, as the Goa'uld ships blasted for the Tau landing areas, which were already halfway done in setting up into their first advanced stage of base progression. A large number of troops were already deployed, a testament to the speed and agility of the Orcas and the planning of the Tau. The Kroot were already spreading throughout the forest, aided by Stealthsuit teams, both almost completely hidden by the trees; one by pure skill and experience in forests, the other with technology. Fire Warriors and Crisis along with Broadside battlesuits deployed, providing a mobile defense network against any raids sent at their positions.

When the enemy air forces appeared, they quickly began to deploy Pathfinders and Sky Ray Gunships, in order to get a temporary air defence net in place to aid the fighters, in case they broke through. However, the sheer mass of fighters, reaching into the thousands, was expected to be enough to hold back the tide, if not annihilate them altogether.

So, as the Goa'uld came roaring in, a dark tide slammed into their force. Gun Turrets spat a literal wall of hot plasma into the enemy, their numbers so large they didn't even need to set up fire-zones; they were already there for them. Seeker missiles criss-crossed the air between the forces, slamming towards enemy fighters, tracking them with insane speed and accuracy. Ion cannons blasts, fewer than the former weapons, still sliced forward in great numbers, causing enemy fighters to explode into large fireballs upon impact. And the last weapon, the Railguns, were launched at the Al'kesh, ensuring their destruction with their mightiest weapon, as well as blasting them into crowds of fighters, the sonic boom of the passing shell would be strong enough to rip fighters unfortunate enough to be near it apart.

The battle for Kelis had begun and, so far, all was going according to plan....

OOC: It's called real life; I don't live on NS.

Also, NC, that salvo was not fired at the planet; if it was, your air force would be gone now. That much firepower could put down a fleet three times the size of the Tau fleet no problem. It was aimed at the two shuttles Xi sent.

20 Alkesh bombers and 60 Death Gliders were torn apart by the incoming Tau fire. The Gliders were now souly used to gain air power, all the gliders aimed at bogeys. Staff cannons ripped through the air, the missing shots impacted the ground sending dirt and sometimes blood and bone into the air. The Alkesh began bombing the Railguns and missle launchers, the bright plasma bombs impacted bringing fire to the woods.

Reports of ground troops in the words came to Nerusus, he immediatly sent an attack force of 50,000 Jaffa, 10,000 Horus gaurds, 1,000 Kull warriors/500 cloaked), and 300 Ashraks, they thundered there way into the dense vegeatation, ready to spill blood.

The enemy destroyed several Tau fighters, through the fact that the Tau didn't have much maneuvering room due to their massed numbers, but their waves of fire continued to slam into the Alkeshs and the Gliders, fire tracking them as they dodged and weaved, pilots aiming for where they were going as well as where they were. Combinations of plasma fire and seeker missiles ensured enemy fighters fell to the ground, flaming, or exploded in midair. Stray shots burst into the forest, setting some of it afire. This only aided the Tau, who had not expanded yet to reach the air battle, and had no troops in the area.

The orbiting fleet detected the massive force being sent towards their landing areas. It was a massive force, numbering around 61,300 total soldiers, heading for a Tau force that was, at most, going to be half that number. However, the Tau didn't win wars by attrition, unlike the Imperium, and in so doing, already had a plan in action. The bases were not being expanded, as more and mroe forces were unloaded. Pathfinders were not scouting out the forests, while Drones were sent to hold key areas, burrowing when they found a spot so as to remain hidden. Fire Warriors, in tandem with Crisis battlesuits, and Hammerhead gunships, spread out into the forest, taking up areas of control, patrolling their area and preparing for the assault. The Kroot and Stealth teams continued to spread out, although they had already covered significant ground and were now preparing for phase one of the Tau battle plan.

At the bases, as well, Sniper Drone Teams were being sent out to key locations, in order to be ready to sow confusion amongst the ranks and take down any leaders if found. Pathfinders were everywhere, ensuring all was being recorded and sent to the Coalition headquarters, giving Shas'o Tau'ra the tools she needed to accomplish her mission.

At the base, with her elite Fire Warrior veterans and Crisis battlesuits bodyguard, she conducted the opening preparations for the battle and then sat back, waiting for the Goa'uld to arrive. Unless they chose to start blasting down the forest or found some other way to tear through the forest, it would be a couple hours before they could be reached. And in that time, preparations would be made, as the enemy made a mistake in attacking the Tau so early.

In fact, they had counted on it.

CELESTIS

The fleet at CELESTIS had now gatherd 600 Hatak, 500 Alkesh. This would however stay home in case the enemy won swiftly.

Kelis

The skys filled with flaming debri, the sky itself looked like hellfire from all the firepower being passed back and forth. The Alkesh and Gliders death count was getting bad(40 Alkesh, 100 gliders), but this didnt stop them from taking as many of them with them as they could, a pair of Alkesh slammed there engines on full and attempting flying straight into gunships. The others continued to add to the hellfire, metal and flesh were being used at the max.

In the forest the soldiers sweeped, the kull warriors cloaked and the uncloaked scanned the area, the less deadly jaffa mixed in with them. The Ashraks scouted ahead, using TER's to scan the area for stealthed or entrenched units.

The battleship drew away to the rim of the system.
The following message was sent back:
Let us try this again. We respectfully request that a landing party be dispatched from us to try and take a fighter or bomber Goa'uld ship. We will aide you in any attack/defense plans you may have for the duration of the mission. The troop count will be 1 dropship with 30 soldiers inside. Once we have what we came for, we will leave and you will never see us here again.

The Alkesh who tried to ram the gunships found themselves slamming straight into a barrage of plasma and seeker missiles. The fields of fire the Tau were now setting up were becoming punishing, and as the Goa'uld air forces dwindled, their fields of fire tightened, giving the survivors even less space to manuever. Their hail of weapons fire continued, thousands of weapons being poured into the less than two hundred Goa'uld ships left to combat them.

The ground forces would find signs of patrols and of Tau presence. Hoof prints, pushed in by the metal of Fire Warrior armor, along with the strange imprints made by the Kroot and the Stealthsuits. However, they did not find any of the Tau yet, as their forces were keeping out of range, for the moment. They were not ready to engage just yet, and so, they let the Goa'uld army sink deeper into ther territory.

Once they were ready and the Goa'uld army was in place, then the operation would truly begin as their first great test in this liberation would begin.

Na'laer glanced at Shei, who nodded his head slightly to show his agreement with what was showing in her eyes. Turning to the display, she keyed open the channel and replied.

You now have permission to do so. You may want to hurry and get down there. We are currently engaging an force of aircraft they sent to try and harass our landing, which is currently being dealt with by our own air forces. They are dwindling fast, and not many are in anything else but pieces, so we advise getting down there quickly. As for attack and defense plans, do as you like to add us as you see fit. Though, I must advise, a massive force of over 60,000 soldiers is heading for the landing now, which we are about to engage. So, unless you have a key objective those 30 troops can fulfill, we advise staying out of the fighting.

I personally do not care if you do or do not see us again. What happened earlier was already explained, the Tau do not hate you. Good luck in your hunting.

The fleet would be seen as relaxing a little, their weapons now being trained towards the planet once more, letting the Xiscapians in now that they had finished the negotiations this time.

The dropship was dispatched, heading down towards the planet. Once on the ground it unloaded it's troops. 5 Squads on men assembled on the ground, near the Tau troops. 1 SRS squad, a sniper squad, and HAT squad, and 2 grunt squads were ready for action. The SRS men turned on their cloaking devices, while the HATs scanned the skys for hostile aircraft and the grunts set up a perimiter. 1 squad of grunts was to stay behind and hold the area, not much good if anything more than a patrol of Goa'uld attacked. The SRS troopers moved silently though the area, the snipers, HATs, and Grunts following up the rear. They were headed for the nearest drydock.

Suddenly, as the Goa'uld forces cut deeper into the forest, they would find themselves under heavy fire, from all directions. As they scrambled for cover and to find the enemy, grenades would sail in and explode, as Kroot jumped through the air, off trees, and down amongst their soldiers, their staves slicing and impaling soldiers as they used their superior strength to begin cutting deep into their lines, with a Kroot blasting one of their soldiers in the face with his plasma rounds from time to time. Stealthsuits crept amongst the brush, blasting with their fusion blasters, which were capable of peeling back vehicle armor, at the Goa'uld infantry. They were focused on the Kull Warriors, using overwhelming firepower and superior weaponry to cut them down quickly.

All the while, nearby Pathfinders watched, setting up targets for easier accuracy for the Stealthsuits as well as trying to pin down a strange energy signature they were detecting.

The Tau had begun the battle and were keen on finding out exactly how the Goa'uld fought and what they could do.

OOC: It's called the illusion of being surrounded. It's a strategy, and it's one my people are using. We have the advantage of having prepared for your attack, so they have the advantage of position. Now, moving along...

IC: The ambush was going well, although losses were higher than expected. However, with the figures Shas'o Tau'ra had given as a prediction, they were actually far lighter than expected. Moderate, even. That was partly why she gave out such figures; so she would have the relief of being proven wrong in that section of war. However, losses were taken and that was something the Tau did not like. Several Kroot fell to the staff weapons of the Jaffa, although each one took several before going down, some needing more, as the desperate Jaffa poured fire into them, as they kept moving. Years of genetic modification via their rituals of eating their fallen enemies kept them strong and these Kroot had fought Orks many times before, and Orks were infamous for their intolerance to pain and durability. However, they still fell.

Several Stealthsuits soon fell to the Ashraks and their TER's, mostly due to the surprise of being found so suddenly by their enemy but they soon began to fight back. As those who specialized in stealth warfare, they knew the signs of stealth and nothing was perfect. Using their sensors and advanced suits, they could block out the noise of battle and focus on abnormal sounds. The cracking of a twig breaking underfoot, the sighing of plants as they brushed past bodies. When they targeted an enemy, they unloaded with all the firepower they could muster on them. All the while, Pathfinders collected data, having now realized the strange signal was coming from the cloaked warriors! After the Earth Caste was given some quick time to the study the signals, they would be able to counter it.

Hopefully. However, Tau'ra realized that now was the time to begin the next phase of her plan, especially with 18 Kroot and 12 Stealthsuits already dead. So, as such, the call for retreat was sounded and the ambushing forces began to retreat, with Kroot dragging several Goa'uld bodies with them. However, in order to discourage the enemy from biting their heels so rudely, as one would imagine they would, some....discouragement was sent their way, in two forms:

Missiles and aerial fire.

The Pathfinders locked their Markerlights on the incoming Jaffa, and a wave of Seeker Missiles flew out from the outposts the Tau had established and slammed all across the Goa'uld line. Salvo after salvo was launched to impact at the Jaffa line, this was the Tau version of artillery after all. And to increase the pain, the massive cloud of fighters the Tau had patrolling the now secure air-space of the battlefield, a full 1/4 of them swooped down on the unsuspecting Jaffa and began to bombard them with railguns, Ion Cannons, burst cannons, pulse weaponry from the attached drones and missiles. Lots and lots of missiles. They, too, attacked all down the line, working their best to saturate the area in front of the Goa'uld forces as well as THEIR frontline with a rather good example of what hell is like.

This gave the retreating forces time to retreat...and prepare for the next phase in Tau'ra's plan.

The Tau received the message from the Dunerian ship and were pleased to see how willing this race was to negotiate. Truly, they were a worthy race and would be an excellent addition to the Greater Good.

Por’O Tau’n Vash’ya was an impressive figure. Standing upon the bridge of one of the many Kor’vattra ships that orbited the world of Kelis, his tall and slender form was clad in a white robe, edged in gold. He let his fingers knot about the shaft of a staff, emblazoned with the crest of the Tau Empire, and a smaller crest of the Water Caste. He felt pride, not personal pride, but rather the feeling…An inescapable feeling amongst the stars, ‘between the spheres’ as his own name “Vash’ya” asserted, that he served the true purpose of the Greater Good.

Slowly, gently, he began to fluently speak.

”People of Duneria. I accept your gracious offer and present in return the thanks of the Tau Empire. I ought to make clear, however, that there shall be no peace with the Goa’uld here.

Once you have heard my arguments, and the words of my esteemed Masters here among the fleet, you will no doubt realize the nature of our foe, and the need for these punitive measures. This world is now a Colony of the Tau Empire, a world I am proud to dub as Ke’lis.

I shall attend you shortly, and offer you the enlightenment of the Greater Good. I am certain that our Path will interest those amongst you who yearn for true peace, for true unity amongst these terrible stars.”

He closed his eyes, a soft smile crossing his fine grey-features. He stretched lightly, turning to bow before the Ethereal. “Aun’O, in the name of the Tau’va, I wish to see to these Dunerians. They shall be prevented from intervening in this undertaking, and perhaps be welcomed into the ranks of the Tau Empire.

We must at least try, for their sake if not for our own.”

The Ethereal gazed at the planet below, his eyes half-lidded for several moments before nodding his head in acceptance. "Go with the belief of all of Tau. We wish you well on your mission. These people are at the doorway to the path; you need but show them how to walk it." The Greater Good? what the hell was that.

It sounded like a modification of Freedom Socialism's "Work for Working's sake", the manifesto that the Dunerians followed for 300 years.

Rykov breathed. " Easy now," he thought "these Tau may prove to be valuable allies, if not trading partners.

A warning kaxon, sounded the approach of the Tau ship. Almost instantly, the interior of the ship was bathed in red light.

Rykov thumbed the intercom.
"Brother's," he said "Today is a great day, for we have found existance of Freedom Socialism, outside our own sector!"

From his command quarters, Rykov could hear cheering from the lower decks.

"From this point on, the Tau our our allies and our comrades, not a finger will be laid on them, unless I say so. You got that!!!"

Rykov heard silence.

"Good, now lets get ready, we don't want to greet our visitors looking like slobs, don't we Comrades...."

The Tau were shocked, something that is rare to see in a battle situation, as much of what they had seen already dwarfed what the rest of warfare had to offer. However, such tactics as the like the Goa'uld used had not been seen, or expected, and the Commander herself was put to pause for several seconds. The bombardment of missiles and aerial fighters stopped during this time as well, as the Tau felt shock and waited for orders. Then, once the shock had run through her system, Tau'ra allowed herself a smile on her face. The Goa'uld had just sealed their fate. Reaching over to her command console, she began to issue orders.

The brief moment of calm had passed and the Tau burst into activity. Out of the jungle came a fury of pulse carbine blasts, as Fire Warriors bombarded Goa'uld lines, tossing a photon grenade occasionally to disrupt and injure as many soldiers as possible. At their side came the Kroot, who leapt from tree to tree, to fall amidst the enemy, stabbing, ripping and killing before vanishing up into the trees again. The Fire Warriors did the same, all over the line. Attacking then retreating, using Devilfish transports and Orcas to strike again and again, while providing covering fire for the deployment and boarding. Stealthsuits jumped around like rabbits, blasting things apart with their fusion blasters before jumping away again. The Pathfinders roamed the lines, locking onto key sections of the Goa'uld line. When a section weakened, or was about to break, they launched wave upon wave of seeker missiles. When they were rallying or about to charge, seeker missiles fell amongst them and exploded, wiping out everything in their path. Any leaders who managed to gather their men or intiate a charge were targeted by Pathfinders and Sniper Drone teams worked swiftly to kill them with their long range rail rifles.

To make things worse for the Goa'uld, phase two called for vehicular assault, which was unleashed in full force. After several initial hit and run attacks by the infantry, as described earlier, the Hammerhead Gunships, wielding railguns that could cut through almost any armor, seeker missiles and gun drones for anti infantry, came slamming into their lines, supported by more Fire Warriors, Kroot and even Vespid, whose guns were perfect for cutting down heavy infantry, as the Space Marines had learned in the past. Skyrays, those who were not still bombarding the Goa'uld line with missiles, came beside them, launching salvo after salvo of missiles. These were preceeded by Piranhas, who streaked the enemy lines with pulse fire, and by Crisis battlesuits who jumped into the fray, unloading fusion and missile fire before jumping away again.

Even farther back, the Broadside Battlesuits entrenched themselves and hammered their lines with railgun fire.

To top of this massive use of firepower, the aerial fighters and bombers once more, bombed the Goa'uld, aiming for the middle of their force, creating a line none of their forces could cross and trying to divide their forces. With the number of ships in the air, they could constantly keep that stretch of land filled with weapons fire.

In short, the Tau unleashed blitzkrieg, the war of movement, against an opponent who had chosen to entrench. The amount of firepower leveled at them was immense, enough that even Space Marines would have had to consider other options, which the Goa'uld had few of.
