Roxanne started her political career within the Department of Defence as undersecretary she was immensely popular and rapidly progressed through the Vetakan Government. The highlight of her career was her tireless years as Vice President during the Pearce administration. Taking up the Presidency after Pearce was killed, Roxanne took Vetaka into one many see was a golden age. She took Vetaka out of the Sovereign League and the Questarian Commonwealth a move she would later pay for with her life when it was ruled she broke a Vetakan Oath of Loyalty to both the League and the Commonwealth. During the Vetakan-Clandonian Conflict Roxanne sacrificed herself in a willing execution to cleanse Vetaka of any wrong doing.

About the Book:

The master copy of the book was discovered in the New Theeb Penthouse Home of Roxanne Wright when her family was attempting to locate her will. The Book was 400 pages long and was in a finished state and ready to be published with the permission of her family the book was published not just in Vetaka but around the world. The book looks at what Roxanne calls the "Old Order of International Alliance" and the affect they had upon the Nationstates World. The book also looks at what Roxanne refers to as the "New Order of International Alliances". Providing in depth political commentary regarding the International Incidents that have shaped the country she led and lived within. The book looks in depth regarding the Sovereign League and what Roxanne referred to as the "unofficial fall of the league". Scarlet Rogers current President of the Vetakan Free Dominion updated the book and wrote various updates to the original text.

Below are selected extracts of the book:

Extract of Chapter 2 "The Formation of a Force of Good, League is Formed"

The Sovereign League was formed by the nation of Praetonia in a conference held within the Praetonian Capital City of Kingston within the very prestigious Uxbridge Palace. The Praetonian Government seeking to cement its International Standing and World Relations sought to form an Alliance with the Liberal and Capitalist Nations that it could best survive with in the turbulent times of that era.

At the time Vetakan Free Dominion did not exist and was entrenched within the War of Independence from Britain. The Sovereign League stood during its time as the Bastion of Freedom and the Alliance of the Capitalist Nation. It stood to uphold the rule of peace, rule of freedom and the rule of law.

Drawing together some of the richest and most powerful nations the world over the League become arguably the most powerful Alliance within International Politics. The League's position within any conflict could win or lose such a conflict purely on the basis of League Support. In some respects Praetonia must be congratulated for such an achievement.

Extract of Chapter 3: "The League and its Police Actions"

For tireless years the Sovereign League stood strong and proud, Regularly launching Police Actions in the name of Freedom, Civil and Human Rights. Some of most notable and famous Police Actions to a Vetakan at least being the Leagues actions against British Londinium and its evil and twisted Dictator of James Swanner. Another famous Police Action being the leagues Military Operations in response to the various Global Slavery Issue which involved military action against such figures as Strator.

Extract of Chapter 4: "The Unofficial Fall of the League"

Officially the League has yet to officially announce its own collapse however most Political Commentators around the world even in Sovereign League States agree that the Sovereign League has collapsed and no longer holds any power within the International Community. In most political circles the moment the league collapsed was when the nations of The Silver Sky and Whaytica left the alliance with the first joining Strategic Sovereign League Enemy NATO. With the loss of two of the Leagues strongest and well respected members the league became weaker. Combined with the Clandonian Human Rights violation within British Londinium the league was still recovering from this embarrassment and with the greedy capitalists within Praetonia seeing their chance Praetonia practically committed industrial war seizing Clandonian Assets and making the broken Clandonia Economy a Praetonia Industrial Playground for its Goods. In short Clandonia was now an unofficial Praetonian Colony a shame.

Such a move by the Leagues founding member caused Political outrage across the world and arguably revealed the league to be nothing more than a Capitalist Cabel. With this in mind many nations including Vetaka formally announced their withdrawal. To many the league became corrupt, decadent and weak. In short the League quietly collapsed its Headquarters in Kingston still operating and functioning with highlight for the buildings staff being the arrival of a new coffee machine. The once all powerful, proud and well respected League had collapsed into the infinite vaults of NS Political History. Who knows perhaps in the future the league would be restored and it once again stand for Freedom, True and Equality. If such a move occurred I would recommend that Vetaka petition for immediate reinstatement into the Sovereign League.

Extract of Chapter 5: "The Old Order of International Alliances"

While the Sovereign League was perhaps the most famous and most powerful alliance within the NS World however other such Alliances stood tall and strong. Such alliances being the Global Alliance of Sovereign Nations, the Dominion Commonwealth and the Global Union of Socialist Nations. Together all of them balanced each other out, all of them where ever they stood upon the Political Spectrum fought for the Good, the Right and the True whether they agreed on political ideology or not they all fought for the same agenda. Against such alliances as EVIL V:1 and the Corporate Alliance. The exception to this being NATO which of the major alliances stood in its own corner and fought for its own political agenda. All of the old alliances with the exception of the Corporate Alliances and NATO collapsed and failed whether officially and unofficially. The most recent being The Global Union of Socialist Nations which unofficially ceased to exist with the creation of the Soviet Commonwealth.

Extract of Chapter 6: "The New Order of International Alliances"

It has always been said that "when one alliance falls another will take its place" such a phrase could not be more true with the formation of such alliances as the United Federation of Allied Nations, the Hegemony, the Soviet Commonwealth and EVIL:V2. With UFAN taking the position of what the Sovereign League and GASN had held, the Hegemony becoming the new Dominion Commonwealth, the Soviet Commonwealth becoming the new GUSN and Evil:V2 taking the place of its direct descendent EVIL:V1. Again each Alliance balanced each other out, upheld each other within their respective places and kept the various political agendas in place. This new generation of alliances being much for aggressive in their actions than their previous relatives. Becoming a massive Ying-Yang style circle where one of the above alliances failed to exist they would all fail to exist and subsequently all fall.

Extract of Chapter 7: "Remnants of the Old Guard"

Not all Alliances of the Old Order of International Alliances collapsed such Alliances as NATO, the Corporate Alliances and the Questarian Commonwealth stood strong becoming in some respects super alliances being success stories in their themselves. The Old Guard although some would say being old and predictable outlasted their fallen older alliances as such they must be well respected to last the cruel and destructive test of Nationstates Time.

Other IC Details:

The book goes onto look at all the alliances mentioned in much more depth providing in depth analysis of the Alliances Victories, Losses and History. The Book became top seller within Vetaka selling more copies than any other book. The book in no way represents the opinion of the Government of the Free Dominion of Vetaka and is purely the opinion of both Roxanne Wright and Scarlet Rogers.

OOC Details:

Inspired by my post within the Questarian World Service Thread, The Questarian Book regarding various nations my apologies Questers I’ve forgotten the name of it, and Kampfers Political Essay a while back. I was also inspired by the total lack of culture and political debate within Nationstates. We all participate in International Incidents and Domestic Incidents that our countries participate within everyday incidents that break us, make us and gain us respect within the OOC and IC World of NS. Yet we never debate those issues and the impact it has had upon us. Hence I wrote the above with the intent to try and write it as if it had come from my Presidential Characters which was rather hard. Anyway please feel free to post and challenge the above statements with your various characters IC as I think it would make a gripping and very insightful IC/RP thread.

I ask that all OOC Comment be kept to yourself or posted in an OOC Thread as I believe it sets the wrong tone within an IC Thread and also sets a bad example to those nations just discovering the great world of Nationstates.

The book was recieved very well in New Vantania, quickly becoming a bestseller. Several literary critiques have picked at the book for mentioning nothing of the contorversary involving the current conflict in which the Questarian Commonwealth and Co. are waging war with Allanea. Also, they vehemently disagree that the Hegemony could ever hold the power the Dominion Commonwealth had, or that the GUSN ever had any real sway on the world stage. Apart from these criticisms, the book was held in high regard by many in the New Vantanian literary community.

Typical Yaforite Response: "You don't recall the Woodstock Pact, do you, Ms. Wright?" Of course, the Yaforites, notorious for their living in the past, fail to recognize many of the so-called "new order". Naturally, those in the Grand Democratic Duchy thus ignore those alliances and go about their own business. After all, they say, one cannot expect all these new nations to remember their history, no?

[OOC: Sorry, not a very good post, but I have no energy/writing interest in putting together something good. Sorry.]

OOC: I can't help you with the Old Guard, but some of the New Guard crumbles quickly because they're made of new nations that think because they've started an alliance they weild a lot of influence, and start acting more militaristic, only to find they're just a bunch of confused newbies, who promptly get destroyed. That, or a few other reasons, but that's the main one.

While this story suits the average non-politically acclimated person, the average politician can easily point out several flaws in the writing. This is written not to bring down the Vetakan Presidents, but in fact to help them improve upon an already good work. The truth is, however, the Hegemony wields little to no power, and can only dream of ever holding the same power as the Domion Commonwealth once did. Having previously been a part of the Domion Commonwealth shortly before its collapse, and seeing the rise of the Hegemony, It is obvious that the Hegemony is very far away, many years removed in fact, from ever coming close to the power of the Dominon Commonwealth. I also take the stance that the Soviet Commonwealth already holds more power than GUSN did, simply because the member list of the SC is already more powerful than the GUSN. I also take offense that the New Prussian Empire and even the Greater Prussian Empire were not mentioned. Being a part of the NPE, and now fighting alongside the GPE, I can assure you that these two alliances already hold more power than many you mention here. Right now, they wage war against the CA, and the tide has turned, with many nations repelling CA forces from their shores. Despite these few facts, I commend you for a well written piece.

Sincerely,
Fuhrer Richtoff

OOC: Thanks for the credit too :D

"...the book was generally well received in Honako and sold in sizeable amounts, being purchased mostly in bulk by schools for the age of 14-18, but also being popular with the general populous and reaching number two on that weeks bestsellers. Critics in Honakon generally praised the book, one memorable quote that most agreed with saying "it's an enjoyable read, not for scholars or professors of international politics, but for people who want a quite-in-depth analysis of the basic history of alliances, particularly focusing on the Sovereign League.”

Some Honakon's, like those from other countries, objected to the statements about the Hegemony, a group often ridiculed because of this name and there lack of influence and power that should go with it by government and people alike. Political and social commentators have said the public are displeased with a book saying that the Hegemony, one of the most unpopular alliances in Honako for quite unknown reasons (believed to be their early warmongering and due to the fact there was strong support for BL's attack on Lord Sumguy in the country despite it’s isolation) because they simply do not want to see them compared to an alliance that they were once in, the DC. Though generally the consensus was that the book was a good, correct and insightful read..."

The book The Fall of the Sovereign League: A Study of International Alliances by Roxanne Wright was released yesterday in the VDB. Mainly schools bought it for high-schoolers, but every government official bought one as well. Overall, it did pretty well.

On to other news......

OOC: Exceptions prove the rule and I demand elaboration on why some of the Old Guard remains intact and why some of the New Guard seem so transient.

[OOC: Define 'old guard.'

If you think the CA is 'Old Guard' that is quite laughable. Nevertheless the CA has stayed together for a long time for a few reasons; 1. They're all very loyal to Blackhelm. 2. You all agree with a single 'cause'. 3. You prey on newbs and people you know you can easily beat. Not that I wouldn't do the same in your position, but calling it an accomplishment ... well, perhaps I'm taking too much out of what you've said.

The reason, OOCly, the League split apart was manifold. Firstly, Whyatica and TSS, who had previously been loyal to Praetonia, were pissed off at him OOC because he supported Clandonia for his independence from them. They wanted him to back off, he and Clan wanted them to back off. I tried to make a deal between them, but it failed, so the two backed out. There was also the fact me and prae went semi-inactive and the SL sorted to lose influence when Willink quit, and Space Union and Velkya went inactive too. Had we managed to mantain an agreement over Clandonia and had SU and Velkie continued to RP, the SL may very well be around right now. However, these are OOC reasons.

I am good friends with, I believe, almost all my allies OOCly. I'm also on decent terms with many of my enemies. Alliances like the SL and APOC with a core of important and cooperative characters are built and made on their OOC relations. When these break down, people often transfer their OOC feelings IC. OOC Intelligence Operations have been a staple of NS's rather large 'black market' of metagaming since ... well, the beginning. I would severely suggest to all alliances that you check your ranks for infiltrators. Thats, well, besides the point. I won't get into how easy it is to incite dissent amongst the ranks of an alliance OOCly...

I'd like to make it crystal clear that the SL collapsed because of OOC internal disputes and a whole slew of inactivities. APOC collapsed because they were sideshadowing the SL... now I will leave that for another day. Anyway, that said, Vetaka's book's IC reasoning for the fall of the Sovereign League is good and I commend V'taka for his article.

PS. If you want a successful alliance that will last the ages, you need a strict hierarchal system that people will obey, good OOC relations between all members (best done over IRC or a forum), and something; anything; to bind people together to join and stay in said alliance. Its nothing to do with how old or how new you are.]
