They were of different nationalities, they only met in Kalisimu (a nation in the association of free nations of Rejistania) because it is the most improbable of all places. They came from different places and ethnic groups what united them was a strong preference of liberty over oppression and a slight preference of German over English. The port of Kalisimu currently housed their ships, boats, and weird constructions which floated nonetheless. The last things were packed on the ships: water, food, nets, weapons, ammunitions, solar cells, ConTiki-based computer-systems based on the SI-X architecture, clothes, erotic magazines, books, and so on. The ships left the harbor and the crews started to connect them in order to make it easier to move from ship to ship. Somewhere, Freibeuter AG - Libertalia was played. After the ship left the territorial waters of Kalisimu the different national flags were removed and replaced by the proud Libertalian flag. The servers, programmed to connect to the internet via satellite and host all sorts of banned materials (Mein Kampf, the Communist Manifesto, the anarchist cookbook, guides how to make weapons, libertarian manifestos, erotic novels and pictures, even pacifistic texts and weird ramblings of different sects). The raft sent its declaration of independence to those who wanted to listen.

The nomadic peoples of Libertarien are delighted about your offer, but need to remind you that we did not create a nation in a defined and claimed territory on dry land but on the sea. This happened because we surely did not want others, who do not share our ideologies to force to live them. 'Live free or die' to us sounds rather extreme, 'live free or well, do whatever you want with your life' sounds more agreeable to us. We have turned to the sea as maritime radicals and created our own nation, like in that Freibeuter AG song after which we named our nation.
