The United Queendom of Darknovae is a relatively small country known for its pleasant weather, warm temperatures, and beautiful cities. The capital city, Nid'ei, was rated the most beautiful city, and indeed had the most tourism, with millions of people flocking to see the Palace de Nid'ei, where Queen Catherine Orlaith Jove and her family lived.

Queen Catherine was sometimes seen lounging in the highest tower at night after she had finished debating, writing speeches, and being advised by Darknovae's top experts (along with Darknovae's biggest idiots) on how to run the country. Sometimes a few tourists saw her up there, and sometimes she even waved at them from her window-- provided, of course, that she happened to be looking out that window rather than sitting with her back to it as she laughed with her niece and crown princess, Paige Caoimhe Lear.

The window was open tonight, and Queen Catherine was leaning out the window, staring at the distant lightning that had roared through not too long before and smelling the rain. Few people were outside, and the city of Nid'ei was coming out of its hidey-hole after the sudden storm.

It's a beautiful night, Catherine thought. I wish Jonathan were here. King Jonathan, Catherine's husband, was in a differnet city speaking out about the recent crime wave and demonstrations that were rocking Darknovae. A lunatic cult called the Order of Jadvyga had risen with obscene speed and intenstiy throughout the media, preaching hate and refering to "undesirables" (which included non-Caucasians, homosexuals, and anyone who wasn't part of their cult) using all sorts of racial, homophobic, and religious slurs. They also supported violence, chaos, and a theocracy run by Jadvygaists. Even more troubling, the Order was gaining new converts. Queen Catherine and King Jonathan were at the top of their hit list.

They're probably mad that I didn't get hit by the lightning, Catherine thought wryly. As she chuckled to herself, she felt something hit her back hard. A pair of hands shoved her out of the window. Catherine looked down at the rain-filled ground, and let out a scream...

Airspace over Nid'ei

A lone C-130 cargo plane flew in, broadcasting a request for permission to land in the capital. Aboard was a group of ten special forces personnel, armed and equipped to the teeth with body armour, NBC warfare suits, heavy battle rifles, helmets, and large amounts of hardware that most civilians could barely guess what they might be used for.

Their first mission, should it be accepted, was to locate the people responsible for the attack on the Queen, and secondly to assist in the capture of the cult's leaders.

IC: The Republic of Sel Appa offers to help aid in the capture of these terrorists. We offer to dispatch an anti-terrorism task force, on the orders of whoever is legitimately in charge.

The news of Queen Catherine's death had gripped Darknovae. Much of the populace (that hadn't joined the Order of Jadvyga) kept their TVs turned to the news stations and flew Darknovan flags outside their homes.

Even the children of Darknovae were affected. Nine-year-old Aimee watched the most-viewed news station, Darknovae News Broadcasting Channel (DNBC). All the DNBC could talk about was Queen Catherine's death. Catherine's mother, Princess Charlotte, gave many speeches about the dangerous Jadvygaists, struggling to keep her composure. Princess Paige was getting ready to be inaugurated. There was about to be an internal war in Darknovae, and everyone was ready, including nine-year-old Aimee.

The anchorman was talking. "Earlier today King Jonathan spoke to the Governor of Vred-Ieslie about the Jadvygaist activity that hasgripped the province. The cult first started in an old farm in the Province of Jourj-Ieslie and quickly spread to the rest of the nine Ieslie provinces-"

The anchor was cut off. The screen was suddenly showing a picture of a tall, thin, and bearded man in gray robes and a blood red cloak. "Hello, Darknovae," he said in a soft voice. "This is your Evangelos, and the next future king. the United Queendom of Darknovae has fallen into sin, and has been spiraling downward since October 1568, when Queen Consort Elizabeth Maeve Philius took the throne after her husband King William Philius and decreed that no woman should have to change her name, and let womankind rise above men. Jadvyga is displeased with men falling to a place below women, and He has blessed us with the death of Queen Catherine, who liek many Queens before her were far too liberal and allowed for all kinds of sin."

Just as Aimee looked disgusted and appalled, howls of rage echoed across the United Queendom of Darknovae.

OOC: The monarchy works in an odd way. Queens rule by default, and between queens the king will unofficially rule until the next queen is inaugurated. Crown princesses tend to be the eldest nieces of the Queens, and only if there are no female heirs will there be a ruling King. So, while King Jonathan is leading the nation at this point, he is not the ruling king, and he will resume his normal duties once the crown princess is inaugurated. Even if there was a ruling king, the title of the nation would not be changed unless there are more than three consecutive ruling kings.

The C-130 landed and ten special operatives got out. They had no domestically designed gear that could be traced back to their nation; they were armed with FN FAL battle rifles, M203 grenade launchers, a Starstreak surface-to-air missile launcher, a Javelin anti-tank missile launcher, and a Kord heavy machine gun.

Their leader, Captain Yosef Schweizer, asked to be taken to the King.

The Free Republic of Oily Prata Grieves for the loss of your queen. And would like to help exterminate these barbaric cult factions in any way we can.
Currently en route to your country is a C-5 galaxy carrying an amount of our special forces soldiers to help you combat this threat.

In the cavernous cargo hold of the galaxy,OPDF special forces prepared to fight the enemy. Battle rifles,support weapons,battle armor and supplies were checked,as well as a special cloak ghillie suits for snipers that rendered them nearly invisible,(Real tech,guys. It was invented by some Japanese lab.)
Soon,the galaxy was approaching Darknovae's airport.

The Jadvygaists were growing more powerful day by day. Now people were being killed for their lack of faith. King Jonathan was putting the troops and military to work against these cultists. No lunatic cult was going to take over the United Queendom of Darknovae and destroy it under the guise of helping it.

The entire country was swamped, particularly Nid'ei. Crown Princess Paige had still not ben inaugurated, and King Jonathan did not have the powers a ruling Queen did. It was difficult to do anything.

The Special Forces outlined their plans:

1. To infiltrate the Jadvygaists in the capital.

2. To "disrupt Jadvygaist meeting places." In theory, this meant a raid with the assistance of local police, to arrest large numbers of Jadvygaists at once.

3. To find those who took responsibility for the assassination of the Queen.

Captain Schweizer authorised its being sent to the acting ruler of Darknovae for approval. He remembered reading in history class about the times his Arabic brethren were oppressed by a lunatic cult which referred to them as Nazis and banned Islam under penalty of death. They had managed to overthrow this theocracy before he was born, and today Arabs, Jews, whites, blacks, and God only knew what else lived together in peace and harmony, for the most part. Of course, there were still extremists of all persuasions.

Now another, foreign theocracy, was seeking to take power over Kahanistan, and another was taking root abroad...

Theocracies were bad enough, but those run by lunatic cults were even worse. Back home, the invasions by a theocratic state had promoted the growth of anti-Catholicism as a backlash. That cure had turned out to be worse than the disease as innocent people feared for their lives.

Sel Appa asks for authorization to deploy two regiments of 4096 troops, commanded by sub-Colonel James Mattern, into Darknovae. If any further troops are needed, we also request authorization to insert them without further need of permission.
